This place is the Bee’s knees! Food is consistent and delicious. I have never had a bad meal here. My go-to is the Asian salad with steak and the Skip’s original burger. Also the beer is always crisp, cold and compliments well with the meal. If the food isn’t enough, the staff is the absolute cherry on top of this perfect sundae of an establishment. Will be back for more!

The experience, food and service were so good it renders me speechless. Ive ate at a whole heck of a lot of places and this place combines the service of an old friend waiting on you wanting ensure the best experience, food thats simply WOW! and a small dining area that works well for the vibe.They have a unique playful, fun, entertaining way to give you your order number that honestly sets them apart in such a positive manner its makes them a Unicorn in the food industry.I got the pesto Chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries. The chicken was so tender and juicy it tasted like it was cooked sous vide style. The flavors carry depth and fullness. They know how to pair flavors, enhance other flavors, and bring it all together packaged in one of the best sandwiches youll have.The pesto Chicken was so good I got another sandwich - the western burger with their onion marmalade. Also really good! This may not fit what theyre going for so this suggestion is not out of lack but if they wanted to take it from their high ranking excellent food to the absolute over the top best:1. Homemade burger buns.2. Butter leaf Lettuce.One last comment. The salt they have at the tables is WAY better than normal diner or fast food table salt. I thought I noticed and tasted a difference. Its because its kosher sea salt. Props to you guys for caring about the details.

Great little place. Burger was solid. Got the cheddar and bacon. Upgraded to garlic Parm fries. Fries werent super garlic-y but lots of parm. Service was friendly and pretty fast. Was very crowded on a Wednesday evening. Parking lot it weirdly shaped and small.

Love it when I come in and see the owner working the front and talking with customers. Skip is a cool guy and that is why the place is busy and has good reviews, the food was good as well. Dont need fancy decor, just good service and good food. Had the basic burger and it was pretty good at a reasonable price. Will be returning, hopefully next time I get the joker.

Ordered the triple cheeseburger with added mushrooms and the standard criss-cross fries, and they were delicious! The place is cozy and the staff are very welcoming. The owner is very friendly and seems to know a lot of the customers by name. The price is very reasonable for the great quality of the food!

Great food and service! Would definitely recommend. We tried their Bacon & Cheddar and Three Cheese burgers, both medium well, with their criss-cut and sweet potato fries with a Strawberry and an Oreo Shake. Portions are great and very filling. Patties are juicy and well-seasoned. Fries are crispy and very tasty.

Tried Skip’s Kitchen on a total whim. Boy did we get lucky. The service was excellent. Everything was clean and well kept. The atmosphere was that of a friendly local restaurant. The real surprise was the quality of the food. Everything was absolutely perfect, I don’t know how they could’ve done any better. The fries were crispy, hot and flavorful as were the onion rings. I’m not an onion ring fan, but my wife had to slap my hand a couple of times to keep me from stealing them from her. The pastrami sandwich was literally dripping with smoky flavor. You have to try this place at least once. We will be coming back for sure.

Skips Kitchen is a great place to bring a small group, and the menu is just diverse enough to really satisfy most. The food comes out fairly quickly but does not look, nor taste, like it was rushed. Its not overpriced, and you get a lot for what you pay. I highly recommend this place!

Omigosh, what a delightful surprise! Rode by on our bikes yesterday and came for lunch today... the Beef Wellington sliders were over the top!!! Both soups we had were excellent as well, with the added touch of perfectly paired toppings. Service and attention by owner was also impeccable. This is a gem and in our hood so double YAY!

Ive visited twice, and each time has hit spots I didnt even know I needed hit!! Dip your fries in their BBQ sauce....its 🤌🏽 🫶🏽. The Western burger was so big I couldnt finish it. Ive had to take food home both times because it was so good I couldnt finish. AND the food travels well!!!! DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!! The staff is super friendly and polite.Hope you pull the joker!! My burger was so juicy. I got the mushroom burger and he got the western. Our food was delicious. It was seasoned well and they even messed up on part of my order and quickly fixed it. My husband got their shake not pictured and he drink it with in minutes. Go here for great food and service.

We are new to the area and saw the reviews for Sips kitchen and thought wed give it a try.The owner/manager was there greeting folks as they came in and knew most by first name. I thought that said a lot about the place. We hadnt received our food yet, and the high school let out, and the kids were also greeted by name.Our food was brought out quickly and was delicious. I had the western burger and fries. The shakes looked good and is on my todo list for tomorrow. Its sometimes hard to find this type of service and quality of food anymore but this place has both. Obviously going back!

Cashier fans out a deck of card and tells you to pick one. Pull a Joker and the meal is free.... You keep your card and put it on the condiments holder as a order/table number. Its super small with tables inside and they have out door covered patio tables too. The place was busy on a Wednesday afternoon but didnt take to long to get out food. Customer service was very friendly and attentive and the vibe was awesome. Loved it

If youre on a mission for a true mom-and-pop neighborhood hole-in-the-wall restaurant, Skips Kitchen is definitely worth checking out. Considering this place has had a lot of recognition, praise, and positive vibes as well as being one of Sacramentos top restaurants, I had to see what the whole fuss was about. Having been opened since late-2011, this place has been doing things right with their delicious comfort food.Located directly on El Camino Ave. (with Mission Ave. being the nearest cross street), this place is situated right at the Carmichael/Arden border in a predominantly residential area. There is a small parking lot near the rear of the business as well as generous outdoor seating (with green turf) located outside on the main street. Inside, there are at least 12 booths that vary in size for small and moderate sized parties. The large glass windows provide a ton of natural light. Additionally, they offer a self-serve fountain drink station as well as two gender-optional restrooms.Upon entry, you grab a menu and order directly at the front counter. I like this concept way more than an actual waiter service since it expedites the entire ordering process. After placing your order, the cashier lays out a full deck of cards face down. IF you pick the Joker out of the deck, your meal is FREE! All I grabbed was a deuce so I didnt win. However, your card is basically used as your order number when your food is brought out to the table. Definitely a unique process that Ive never seen before at any restaurant.After looking at the menu, I ended up going with the B.O.M. Sliders (which came as a trio of 3). These sliders included bacon and onion marmalade, house sauce, and provolone cheese. I chose criss-cut fries as my side as well as a Grilled Caesar Salad which had charred hearts of romaine, crostini, Caesar dressing, and shaved Parmesan cheese. I completed my meal with a regular sized self-serve soft drink. My +1 went with an order of their Chicken Strips. This was hand breaded, fried chicken strips complete with dipping sauce and also a side order of criss-cut fries. Total price for both of our orders came out to a very inexpensive $31.00 (after tax).Even though they were swamped with customers (keep in mind this was at 6:45pm on a Saturday evening in August), our food arrives in just under 15 minutes. Not bad since they were juggling the dine-in, to-go, and food delivery services while always keeping a smile on their faces. My sliders were seasoned to perfection and quite generous with a nicely toasted slider bun. The fries were hot and crispy. And the charred Caesar salad added to some of that smokiness to it. The salad was given to me with whole romaine leaves which I have seen at other various restaurants.All in all, Skips Kitchen does things the right way. Amazing service (our server and busboy both checked up on us), unbeatable prices, and a menu that both parents and kids will love. They have all the comfort food classics including pork sliders, mac & cheese bites, wings, sandwiches, and burgers. They also offer ice cream sandwiches and shakes. And for the over 21 crowd, they have a nice variety of bottled and draft beer as well as a small selection of red and white wines. With that said and done, I am giving the folks at Skips Kitchen an above-average four star rating.

This place clearly takes a lot of pride in their food. It seems like they make most of their components in-house from scratch, and you can tell in the final product. Everything is fresh and perfectly cooked. The kitchen is visible from the front, and it looks immaculately clean; thats always a good sign. The owner was there making rounds and ensuring everyone was having a good time and a great meal. We loved all the food, but in particular, we recommend the mini beef wellingtons. So flavorful, tender, hot, and delicious. They have you pick a card when you pay that serves as your table number, and if you get the joker, your meal is free. Which is a cute and fun little quirk that enhances the experience. But mostly, I recommend this place for the very excellent food. We will be back.

The best place to grab a bite to eat! The staff are always friendly and make your dining experience that much better. You dont have to wait long for your food. The portion sizes are large. You definitely get your moneys worth. Everything tastes sooo good!! Whether youre having a grilled cheese or youre craving beef wellington! Do your mouth a favor and choose to dine here. Ive heard about Skips for years, but have never been. Today we were in the mood for burgers so we made it a destination. We both had the Western. They were cooked to just under medium so the burgers were juicy. The bacon and onion rings were crunchy and the bun was soft. It was definitely a 4 napkin burger. They should come with wet wipes. We also had the Mac Puppies which were hot and crunchy on the outside and rich and gooey cheeseiness on the inside. The staff was friendly and attentive. It was not only worth the trip, but definitely a new favorite for us.

I am a repeat offender. I come here as often as Im in the area. On this visit, I had the Heap salad, minus the bacon. I usually get this, I love this salad. I eat mostly vegetarian but my friends love burgers, so this is an great compromise. We love the atmosphere here. Everyone is friendly, the service is great, and the food is always stellar. This is a come-as-you-are type of venue. Youll see the likes of professionally dressed patrons, police officers, bikers, families, grandparents, sport teams after a game, people on dates, best friends, all crammed into this spot and spilling out onto the patio. The word is out that this is a great weekend hang out, so expect to wait a minute for a seat. DO wait, you wontbe disappointed!

Exciting vibe with good food restaurant. We have sweet potatoes fries with skips original burger and steak sandwiches. The sauce in the steak sandwiches makes their sandwiches so special. On the menu they said it has Gorgonzola cheese and other ingredients. Although I am the person who doesn’t like blue cheese, their sauce taste was so good. Compare to the sandwiches, the burger sauce was not impressive. However the patties in burger was juicy and fresh so i think it can compensate the sauce. When you make order, the cashier asked you to pick the card. If you picked the Joker card, your lunch is on them. Like this their vibe is energetic and fun.

We go to this place for special events like Birthdays, because its close by. I went there early to find a table for our group, talk to the owner a little bit, said my Hellos, and explained we will have 5 people.When it came time to order, it got very awkward for me. We love Skips. Their prices are reasonable, the quality is always consistent, and service is always excellent. We frequently get it for takeout and they never mess up the order, even when I make special requests like no celery on my salad. I like the heap salad with steak. The burgers are also excellent and you can get Brie!! Criss cut fries are also always crispy and good, and I highly recommend the ice cream sandwiches.

Had this place for the first time today I have heard that this place is so good so I had to give it a tryAnd I didnt like it at all the burger I got had no seasoning on it if it wasnt for the barbecue sauce it would have Ben very plain to me it had no flavor and the fries had no salt on them now I know you might say just add some salt to them but if you dont add salt to the Frys as soon as they come out of the oil the salt just doesnt stick to the fries so I hate to say it my first time and I didnt like any of my food I left half a burger and almost all my fries sorry SKIPS its just my review.Oh one more thing its a small place to dine in it was crowded when we went

Weve been to Skips a few times now and it gets better every time. Its a cozy place, and the parking can be challenging, but the food is good and the service is always great. Its one of the better burger joints in the area, especially if youre looking to eat local and avoid chain restaurants.My only critique, and its a small one, is that sometimes the burgers feel like they would benefit from a little more seasoning/salt. But maybe thats just a me thing. Everything else is excellent.

I was going to leave a 4 star rating because of their unappealing cups (plastic and degraded) and utensils (old and scratched up) but the customer service and food are a 5 star minimum. I ordered the mushroom burger and chicken pesto sandwich, the food was done in a very reasonable time even though the place was packed with people. The sandwiches tasted amazing, the fries were fresh, and the staff treating us were amazing. Unfortunately I didn’t pick the joker card this time but I’m sure that it will be my lucky day next time, as I will definitely be back for more delicious food.

This is the purest form of a family-owned restaurant, my family and I support whenever we can. Skip is a great man who works very hard to make everyone feel welcome in his restaurant, and it shows. The food is spectacular, we have not missed yet on any of the menu items weve tried. My personal favorites are the steak sandwich and the Chinese chicken salad. When you are done ordering you get to pick a card from the deck and if you pick the joker your meal is free. This is such a fun add on, and even though we have yet to the pull the joker we will keep trying.

Best burgers ever! A friend took me to Skips about 4-5 years ago, and Ive been introducing friends to those marvelous burgers ever since. Others have tried other deliciousness on the menu, but I love the burgers too much to stray. The fries are great, too. Skip is a master host. He and his staff make everyone feel welcome and even watch for drinks needing a refill. Maybe youll get lucky and draw the joker for a free lunch!

Great hamburger! Done perfectly. Requested medium rare and the order taker advised us that would be pink centered. Done perfectly! Garlic parmesan waffle fries were crisp and will season. Only hot sauce available was buffalo wing sauce but it did your job quite well. Great ambiance

The food is amazing! One of only 3 places Ill go for a hamburger. The service is beyond amazing. I was there the other day on a Friday which gets busy. I had my son and we were going to leave because it was so crowded. The owner stopped us and said, Ill get you a seat, dont leave. He had a friend at a table and asked him if it was okay for us to sit there with him. The conversation was fun and the food was amazing like always is. The staff was incredibly friendly and even came up and refilled my drink (not bad for a counter service self service fountain drink joint). We tried the Skip burger, the kids pasta, the BOM sliders, the mini Wellingtons, and the Spinach Arugula salad with Chicken. We also had the local Tower Brewery’s Amber October (delicious) and to finish the local Fat Cat Cookie Ice Cream which didn’t last long. We meet Skip the owner and he is great, you can tell he takes pride in his family business. The server’s were super, they were attentive, helpful and upbeat. The food was cooked exactly as we asked and all special requests were meet without flaw. These folks dis not skip a beat, no pun intended. Only problem I saw was there just wasn’t enough room for all the people who were coming in. My fiancé placed an order over the phone with Skip himself, to pickup. He picked it up and brought it home. My cheeseburger was completely wrong. I drove back there and was just going to re order in person. The owner (Skip) is actually very involved, often taking orders, and always has a smile on his face. Just like his staff! Not only was the food fantastic, the service is what compelled me to write this review (and I rarely, if ever, write reviews).I met up with a buddy of mine for lunch at Skips Kitchen and was in the mood for some soup. One of the options was butternut squash soup which is a personal favorite of mine. You are given a choice between a cup size and a bowl size, though I ended up going with the cup because I also ordered the two pork sliders.Not only did the butternut squash soup successfully fulfill my craving, the pork sliders featured some of the most amazing, mouth-watering pulled pork Ive ever tasted. Absolutely incredible. The coleslaw was not overly sweet or tart and had a nice delicate taste that complimented the pork well.After devouring my two menu items, a gentleman (who I presume to be the owner) took my empty basket and made a joke about the food not being satisfying enough. I quipped back that my only regret was getting the cup of butternut squash soup and not the bowl. To my surprise, he immediately came right back out with a second cup of soup and said it was on the house.As someone who has worked in food service and retail for many years, I was flabbergasted by how exceptional the service was. Way to make a great first impression. I will definitely be back with some other friends and family next time.

First time ordering from Skips Kitchen. It was delicious. We ordered 2 burgers and a side of the Mac and cheese puppies. The burgers were huge. Fries were tasty and the puppies were crisp on the outside. They came with a tasty cheese sauce. Will order again!

Excellent food and staff. I had the chipotle pesto chicken sandwich. It was supper tasty. The girl behind the counter was amazing. She did not even fuss when a lady accidentally spilled her drink all down her leg. Highly recommend. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I get that its a sandwich/burger place and they were yummy.. However I was unhappy that the fry portion could have been a little more filling. There were only 5 waffle fries with my order. Other than that the burger was yummy, the staff was attentive and polite and was quick to clean the tables when guests left. The restaurant was clean. I will be back(probably within the next week).

The hamburgers are here are very good.They come with the fries of your choice, and I had the sweet potato fries. Excellent!The servers are very friendly and courteous.When you go to pay your bill they have you choose a card from a deck which they skillfully display. If you select the joker your meal is free.

Skips is always my go-to when I want something low key and delicious. It always has a good amount of clientele. The staff is always friendly and very helpful. I think he might be the manager and/or owner, he comes around to the tables to refill drinks and checks on the tables for additional needs. Love this place!

You dont want to Skip this spot.Clean location, helpful and nice employees. Food was delicious and served quickly even with a pretty full house too.The chipotle pesto chicken was good. The bread was delightfully soft yet a nice toast crunch to it. The chicken was moist and tasty.The mini beef Wellingtons were ok. The puff pastry was on point. The marinated beef was ok. The dip that was served with it was unknown. Not sure what it was called or is.They have what looks like a really good burger menu too. And they have a pretty good kids menu and Nicely priced too.Good for the whole family.

Great food and very humble customer service. I like the whole card deck draw a joker and meal is on them game they have. The food is great doesnt take forever to get to you cooked to your liking and not only are the burgers wonderful but the fries are just as good. Ive only been there twice but each time the staff has been great and helpful. One girl who works there went the extra mile. I wish I could remember her name but Im terrible with names in general but she wore glasses and was very kind as she walk around checking on everyone she offered to refill drinks st every table every time.

We got the Western BBQ cheeseburger and the wings. The wings needed more cooking and they weren’t crispy at all. The cheeseburger patty lacked flavor and was not juicy. The only thing I really enjoyed was the fries.

I love trying small, local places and Skip’s didn’t disappoint! The service was a little slow for two sandwiches, but they tasted great. The Chipotle Pesto Chicken Sandwich was delicious and the sauce didn’t overwhelm each bite. I’m not a fan of food being served in baskets but I get it so no big there. Overall clean and pleasant environment, I’d go again.

Love the service and warmth delivered by the owner and staff. The food however was not seasoned well at all. Menu choices were fantastic but did not deliver on taste. The meatloaf was the same texture as that of a crab cake. Thought I might have gotten the veggie burger by mistake. The mac sauce was very unseasoned and on the thin side. Really wanted to love this place from past visits but we were left flat this time.
