Since we were traveling with our small dog, we were limited to renting a pet friendly room which have not yet been updated like the rest of the rooms. While the bathroom fixtures are dated, they do function and despite the dated furniture, the entire room was spotless and smelled very clean. Lots of grassy, pet-friendly areas. The hotel setting is quiet and serene. Our first stay, but wont be our last!

Stayed at the Skylark Feb 25th after the power went out for several days in Upper Lake. I especially want to thank Paige for her kindness and service for getting a room quickly for my 96 year old mother and myself when I explained we had no power and the temperature was 47 degrees in our home! The room was clean and we had a beautiful view of the lake. Thank you again Paige and Skylark Shores Resort for accommodating us so quickly and getting us out of the cold!
Staff were very accommodating when I had to travel into Clearlake for business. We had a room in back with a lake view and BBQ. The room was clean. Nothing fancy, but the view and access to grass and docks out back was really nice. Pool on-site, but didnt get time to jump in. They were having a fishing tournament that weekend and car club meeting, so met lots of nice people. Quiet at night, so got a great nights sleep.
Positive: Easy to find, with parking right in front of the rooms. Quiet and pleasant. Negative: The curtains n the room did not close all the way. The hotel is older and could use a refurbishment to make better use of the space and more practical furniture.
Positive: Convenient location Negative: Outboard engine backed up to my room entrance. Extension cords to trip over in the parking lot to other parked boat trailers. I shouldn¿t have to step around an outboard engine to get into my doorway
Room was fine. Bed was comfy. Bathroom was clean and functional, but quite worn down. We were up front so no views. Grounds are nice and location is good. Staff was super nice.

Been in much better lake side resorts. Brilliant location, facing the lake to the east. But all else was down hill from there. Service was not the best, as our key card didnt work very well, and they basically just asked us to stay in the room the whole night, without even explaining what the issue was (because their key cards worked). Didnt luck out with the rooms either, which were pretty compact and dingy for our liking: bathrooms felt claustrophobic and not maintained well either. We werent able to borrow any boating equipment either, but maybe thats better off with cyanobacteria warnings in some parts of Clear lake!
If the room were half the price I’d say it would make more sense for what it was. It was dingy and there were hairs in the bathroom upon entering. The beds were uncomfortable and only had a sheet, thin blanket, and flat pillow. The lake was pretty and check in/out was easy.
The rooms with the beautiful lake view are spacious and nice. The rooms are also very clean, as well as the entire property. The staff are super friendly and helpful. I would recommend to anyone to stay here. The rates are also very fair and the location is great.

Pretty Good experience staying here while on the road but floor was a little dirty and my room was smoky. 🫤 Not the best motel I’ve ever stayed at but far from the worst. And front desk woman was friendly.
Stayed here for a MTB race near Clearlake, and it was great! The rooms are big, the view of the lake is beautiful, and the town is also lovely. All the staff we interacted with were perfectly nice, and overall it was a great experience. My only complaint is the lack of food options around the hotel, but thats not something I can fault them for.
I have been coming to the Skylark with my family for about 40 years. I love it. I gave 4 stars because its a bit outdated and the rooms could use a little work...but the staff is friendly, the grounds are nice, the pool is great for those hot afternoons, and the view is absolutely spectacular. The Skylark is my happy place.
I showed up in the middle of the night escaping from a bad Airbnb situation. Staff was Johnny on the spot got me in a bed within 5 minutes of arrival. The property is very well kept and absolutely lovely. I was born on that Lake and watching the sun come up over the lake from that vantage point was an amazing experience even though it wasnt a new one. There are barbecues out back in each unit the rooms are very large and well appointed.
The staff is very friendly and nice but our roomIs very outdated and was dirty looking and feeling, we came up to the races and stayed here for the night but I wouldn’t come back. The beds were extremely uncomfortable even the kids couldn’t sleep. I think they just need to update the place and it would be a lot better. The people were great but the rooms not so much. I don’t like leaving not good reviews but just wanted to be honest. Also the fan for the second room with two beds is right under the curtains so it blows open the curtains and all the light comes in.
Very clean and comfortable. I wish we had been able to have a ground floor room. Being upstairs with a 2 yr old and a 7 month old meant a lot of trips up the stairs with luggage
Decent enough for a short stay, the rooms are acceptably clean and comfortable but the bathroom in the unit we stayed in left a fair bit to be desired with some maintenance shortfalls. Would stay if in the area for one night but not longer. The area itself is lacking. Many of the limited restaurants were closed (February) maybe due to COVID, maybe seasonal. Either way, its a stop off place rather than a destination for me.
Awesome hotel. The staff at front desk was one of the best Ive ever had, she was friendly, nice, genuine, helpful, knowledgeable of area and answered all our questions. My room was huge, clean, very comfortable, great view and quiet. Price was great and the grounds offer much to offer. I will come back for sure. 5 stars for sure.
I was there in the off season so not much going on. Cold and rainy. The town of Lakeport was dead at that time. The resort was adequate but the rooms were not particularly comfortable.
Super friendly staff, Samantha made my check-in a breeze. Room was clean and super quiet. Pool view vs lake view works for me as I just slept in the room didnt care about the view.Would definitely stay there again. Parking is good for you and a trailer if need be.Boat launch literally next to the parking lot.
First DO NOT waste your time at this old Outdated /Overpriced Dump. These schiesters/ crooks are not honest regarding pet room charge . The rate is Nowhere to be found on the website . After checking in was informed that pet charge is $25.00 . This amount is Absurd.and totally exploitative . Also, they want a $150.00 cleaning charge for no legitimate reason . STEAR CLEAR OF THIS ANCIENT /DELAPADATED DUMP. A word of advice lake county is ok for a day trip, DON’T bother staying over as it is a WASTE OF TIME !!.
Its a very old place to stay VERY clean and VERY neat. The staff was friendly the cost was very reasonable. Ive been going passed this place for more than 70 years, this is my first time to stay there but you can bet it wont be the last time Ill stay there. Good place
I stay 9 days a year when I fish Clear Lake.
It was super quiet, and clean. A bit older, but well maintained. I would definitely stay here again if Im in the area.The town in general seems like its seen better days...I hope things pick up and more folks come visit post-pandemic. I would guess the wildfires arent helping either.
I loved our stay here we got a room with a full kitchen and 3 beds. We were not disappointed the staff is super friendly and our room was very nice. The kitchen had dishes pots and pans a microwave a refrigerator, a stove and a air conditioner in each room. Our room came with 2 rooms 2 full beds in 1 room and a queen bed in the main room we had an awesome time.
We had a family member pass away and planned on only staying a week. Because of unforseen circumstances, we ended up staying for almost 3 weeks. The staff and management did everything to accommodate us including, finding us rooms that were available, holding our belongings in the office until the room was available, making sure we had a microwave and Mini fridge and regularly checkpoint in to make sure we were ok. I cant thank the staff and management enough and will stay here again. This is a no frills accommodation and is only what you need but worth a lovely lake view and will maintained property.
Stayed here 10/10 to 10/14, For the Most part it’s so cute.But the BEDS need upgrades big time. SO HARD I had to run to Walmart and get a memory foam to place on top. My back stood messed up for days!! GET NEW BEDS!!
Very nice people attended us during the process. Not only that but the rooms are very clean and very close to the lake literally outside your back yard. They even have BBQ set outside with a table for you to enjoy the beautiful view. I would definitely stay here again. Pool is very nice and clean.

I Cant say anything bad at all about this place. Clean rooms with a beautiful view of the lake, large grass area to hang out and bbq, play horse shoes, etc. 3 private docks to fish from or keep you boat at. Best place Ive ever stayed
Wonderful location, priced reasonable, very friendly staff and guests. Excellent fishing. Jetski rental nearby. Slight problem with ants in the cabins. For some odd reason, the water got turned off on the morning of checkout. Some of us were unable to shower/wash up before checkout. Otherwise, very nice place to visit. We rebooked for another weekend in 3 months.
Where do I begin! Steve was incredibly kind, generous, and caring. Every staff member was sweet and helpful. They all seemed genuinly happy and all around pleasant. The room we got was PERFECT!!! We had the overview of the lake and it was just beautiful. Steve upgraded us for no extra cost and made sure we had the best. I couldnt have asked for a better place to stay❤ Thank you all so very much!
My family and I are staying at the Skylark and it is beautiful. The people who work here are very nice and they made us feel so welcome. I wish we could stay permanently. Its nice to stay in a place that goes out of there way to make you feel at home. So far since my stay in Lake County these 4 years this is my favorite motel. Your awesome Skylark 🎉
This is the real happiest place on earth. the staff are awesome the facilities are clean. Its a little dated but its very nostalgic. Best hotel in Lakeport by far. It would say the only hotel in Lakeport. You like fishing? This is the hotel for you. They have tournaments run out of this hotel regularly. Have fun.
Honestly, the view is hands down the best Ive had on the water in a while. The room is pretty much remodeled, simulated wood floors, nice light fixtures, nicely tiled (odd corner shower). The back door, picnic table and bbq are a nice touch. All in all, the pros outweigh the cons here...

Non-Guess shouldnt be allowed to be on the premises. Its an inconvenience to the guess who spend money to stay & have to deal with rude Asian people who arent even guess at the hotel. I couldnt even park my boat because of all the people that was allowed by the hotel to be on the dock to fish. Definitely will consider staying somewhere else.
Best place to stay in townThe city boat launch is at the north end of the property with dock right there.Rooms are really large but a bit dated. 4 cup coffeemaker, microwave and a fridgeSome rooms have kitchens as well. Great water pressure for showers. We will stay again

Friendly service. Decent housekeeping. Great value for the stay. Amenities are okay, but they need a better TV package. Not too bad for summer activities, but in colder months some better packages would be nice. Still not a bad value.
If you enjoy laying down on plywood then this is the place for you. This place needs major updating especially for charging 150 bucks a night.
This was such a beautiful experience. The room we had facing the water. It was wonderful being able to watch the fireworks from the balcony.

Nice place. The walls a bit thin, could hear tv next door. Very clean during covid time. Friendly staff. Next time will definitely buy duck food, there were a lot at shoreline.
It was really nice. The only thing I was not pleased with is they would not let me have my service dog due to me being in one of the rooms that they do not allow dogs in. Unfortunately I was not able to switch rooms cuz of them already being occupied by other guests. But would recommend it to others.
An enduring favorite and nostalgic for me as I used to live on the lake. Loved my time here and Samantha in the office was wonderful and welcoming! Although older establishment, very neat and clean. Lots of nice families having lake fun!
Had to take a client to stay for a couple of days do to the kincade fire(she lives up on Cobb & Im a caregiver) and the staff was wonderful even though the power did end up going out. THANKS PG&E !!But all in all my client was safe and in a warm place.. So if I was to recommend a place to stay on the lake it would be this place.
Nice room, comfortable bed, friendly staff.No one seems to be enforcing any sort of quiet time rules, neighbors were noisy then when I woke up to get my self a cup of coffee in the morning there was no cream/sugar or even a coffee filter.Big wall, small TV. :/Not bad for $70 but deff would have liked a cup of coffee. It’s clean(ish), decent for the money, nice view in the morning. A tip for the hotel: if you’re not going to keep the paint from peeling, don’t paint it, just varnish it. Also, the balcony is shared. Dividers might be good.

Best motel in Lakeport. Its been a rough winter in Sonoma, Mendocino and Let countries and everyone needs to recover. Skylark shores has the best spot on the lake with a wonderful park like setting, a public boat ramp, floating docks for mooring your boat and lots of picnic tables and lake front benches. But things have been beat up this winter with all the storms and the lake is literally overflowing into the motel grounds. The staff is amazing and accommodating and about the most kind people you will find and Im sure as spring goes on the lake will go down and things will go back to normal.Its the only place Ill stay in Lakeport and Ive sent friends and family there. Also the sunrise view is incredible.
The resort has really cleaned up their hotel rooms. BUT I have never in my 40 years of visiting here seen the water so LOW 😔😔😔😔😔

The view from the lake rooms were astonishing. Really a resort-- that laid back sit in the sun in the morning kind of place. BBQs and picnic tables for every lake front room. Everything needed to really relax.

Checked us into a pet room when we didnt have a pet and when I explained one of our guest had a pet allergy she said she didnt care and the room had been cleaned. Just not sure why when there is other rooms available we could of not been moved to a room that didnt smell like a dog and have hair on the bedding. To say the least the Place is outdated and stinks so bad! Location great, staff very undesirable.

2023-06-08 21:04:14Came to Lakeport to handle some familybusiness & we lucked into room 231. The room was on the larger side & we loved the nautical theme, textured walls & view of Konocti. Enjoyed going to sleep to the sound of the lapping waves. Very accommodating staff & check-in. Had the upstairs lakefront deck to ourselves most of the time & we enjoyed watching the herons, swans, mallards with new baby chicks & people fishing from the docks. We booked a second night because the hotel was so calm & peaceful. Will definitely book at the hotel again.One addendum: internet speed will remind you of the old dial-up days - I imagine if the hotel could fix this, it would have been fixed already. Therefore not to place for a working, online vacation - but maybe that’s a good thing.

2022-09-29 16:34:28I rate this place a 4.6, rounding up to 5. Its an adorable mid-1900s style resort with lovely grounds and view of Clear Lake. There are game areas, a boardwalk and marina down to the water, a pool, and lush grassy areas to sit around.The manager was very friendly and helpful and the price of the room reasonable.The rooms are spacious and clean. We got a double queen lakefront room which had a nice bathroom and roomy shower. There was a second door which opened to an outside area with our own picnic table, chairs, and small barbecue facing the water. The windows were large (amazing view of the sunrise over the lake!) and the AC works well.The mattresses were quite firm. My mom liked the firmness; I did not. So it comes down to preference.

2023-02-11 21:32:41Clean rooms, great location overlooking the water. Towels were minimal and would help to at least put one more set in the rooms. Easy location to downtown. Many summer amenities, although we didnt have use for them as we were there in off-season. Would recommend the place above others.
