Slanted Door was iconic during its 15-year SF Ferry Building era. It was also iconic prior, eons ago in the Mission district. Signature items like the ginger lime cocktail, shaking beef, crab and cellophane noodles were just perfect. We were disappointed when they closed for good in SF, but super excited and hopeful to visit their new location in Napa during our recent trip.First thing to note is the building location which is super easy to miss, in a very nondescript building with signage that cannot be seen--even your uber/lyft may have trouble finding it (its next door to the Westin Verasa). We expected to find a packed house after 5pm, but to our amazement there were only a handful of people in the huge venue that has a generous bar area, courtyard, and inside dining. Chef Dong was talking with bartender Zach and we managed to introduce ourselves to them and how we were fans of the SF spot. We ordered the famous ginger limeade and Chef surprised us with an amuse (daikon rice cakes). Such warm, personable staff here. Zach was also very polite and professional, which elevated the overall service. The crispy imperial rolls were just as good as we remembered, as were the fresh shrimp/pork spring rolls. Another thing that did not change was the pricing--be ready to fork over some $$. Meals are pricy, but youre also buying the experience that covers all 5 senses : )

Wonderful place to come, especially when I was missing the San Francisco location, which has permanently shut down. Highlight is the duck. One thing is they have two different rooms one of them they forgot to soundproof. If you get seated, there asked to be moved because the other room is absolutely lovely. Attentive and careful weight staff we really liked as well.

Last minute dinner date last night at the new Slanted Door location in Napa California because Fred had to work early this morning up there. The original one Ive been to located at the Embarcadero San Francisco 13 years ago fell victim to Covid-19 shutdowns and closed forever but super pleased to get reaquainted in wine country. Sommelier helped pick out my bolder flavor red I was craving and Danielle our server was super amazing and she was knowledgeable about every menu item which is so refreshing bc I remember all the tests Id have to take back when I was a server in high end establishments.Chili trio is a must order to add different dimensions to anything you order. Their house made Sriracha was so good.Food was amazing. Service was so on point. I think it definitely made my taste buds appreciate the food more. Its super hard to get the service I once gave and I highly recommend anyone to check this place out. Wish I had a bigger stomach to enjoy some dessert but it tis spring and I have a bikini I need to get back into by the summer. ❤️😜❤️#slanteddoor #SlantedDoorNapa #vietnamesefinedining #NapaEats

Service was incredible, everyone was really kind and happy to answer questions. Regarding food, peanut sauce with the fresh spring rolls are amazing. Lemongrass tofu was delicious. Bottomless tea refills. Light and fresh cuisine. Perfect for lunch or dinner in Napa. Also lovely atmosphere. It was raining so we couldn’t sit outside but the courtyard is lovely.

Awesome eats. This place will do well. Im glad they opened one here. We were there on the grand opening. The best dishes were the daikon cake, the lamb chops and the shaking beef. The lamb doesnt need the sauce but thats my personal preference. The glass noodles with crab were also excellent. If youre a foodie, its a must go type of place.

Delicious food and amazing service. Staff were very attentive and kind. The pear dessert was my favorite! It was a little loud, but thats no fault of the restaurant. All around lovely experience.

I am a big fan of Charles Phans food. Ever since his location on Valencia St. in SF ( in the late 90s) the food has been consistent and absolutely delicious. When I learned that he was opening here in Napa I was elated! Last night my husband and I had our early Valentines dinner here and I have to say that everything was perfect. They had a Peking Duck special that had been cured with salt for 7 days and the fat dripping were used to make the most delicious fried rice I have ever had. The flavors from the duck were amazingly delicious. Oh my goodness what a special treat! We also had to have the chicken clay pot and the flavors were as I remember when I used to enjoy having with my beautiful Mom. This was her favorite dish. The cocktail menu is outstanding my husband had the Whiskey cocktail and loved it.Thank you for the great food and experience. I highly recommend this fabulous restaurant.

Heard service was poor but food fabulous. Was exactly the opposite for us. Could get better spring rolls anywhere else. The ribs were just slathered with a BBQ sauce. Pear dessert was inedible and the panacotta not even gelled completely.

Went for a Tuesday lunch. Service was outstanding. Food delish - spring rolls, imperial rolls, papaya salad, pea tendrils, shaking beef, cellophane noodles and pavlova, choco hazelnut tart, and tiramisu for dessert. Not one bad dish. Ate outside in tree covered courtyard. Just a lovely day. Thank you slanted door - we will miss embarcadero location but happy to still have you in the bay ❤️

It was our 2nd visit in 10 days as we wanted to bring our son who was visiting for Fathers Day. We enjoyed our first visit on 6/08 we had came back again last night. We had bottle of sparking wine, 3 appetizers including the house made chili trio. My husband was disappointed that the halibut had been replaced with salmon but he substituted the fresh soft shelled crab appetizer as an entree & shared the cellophane noodles with our son who had the yellowtail appetizer as an entree. I had the Shaking Beef & was just as delicious as last time! We also had sides of jasmine rice & the pea shoots. The final was we all shared the strawberry cream dessert - light & refreshing!! Service was always spot on. Was never rushed. We had enjoyable evening with leftovers to take home. We will be back again but not as quickly our bill was understandably $$$$.
