Ive moved here recently from the Bay Area and was desperate to find a place where I could find ingredients to do my Thai, Japanese, and Chinese cooking. I am so glad to have found this place! They even have fresh Thai basil and will order me Holy basil if I need it! They have such a large selection for a small space- even the more obscure items which I used to find in the Bay Area.The owner is extremely nice and helpful. Like I said she will be glad to order anything for you if they dont have it. Im looking forward to this being my go-to Asian store.

I come here for the ice cream and snacks. Little green tea and chocolate fishy shaped ice creams cant be found anywhere else. Son loves the glass pop-it drinks with a bunch of flavors. I hate red bean mochi (Trial and error with a bunch of flavors) I bought some red bean fishy ice cream by mistake and they let me replace them. Ive only seen one cashier and she makes great recommendations too!

Okay- we see the side of the building on the way to French Hospital for appointments and finally decided to drop in. I needed cool and unusual snacks for the Halloween party. The young lady at the register is not just pleasant- indeed she is bubbly, full of smiles and knew her cookies. Good selection of Saki. Picked up some fresh ginger root, candy and a mess of other snacks - I have absolutely no idea of what they are or how they will taste. Thats the nice thing about holiday get togethers. A lot of folks unknowingly- volunteer as test subjects(I included) The young gal did point out the ones she tried and liked and also pointed out others she did not know about. I will be back and, A) let her know what happened and B) stick up on more snacks with names I cant pronounce and full of stuff I never heard of. All of this came to $26.93 (,Saki had different prices for different budgets)

Sad that Ive shopped here for three years buying pocky and other items but was verbally assaulted by the owner. Im sorry I wanted to order my soup first and then come to your store. You had no right to block me in your parking lot with your car and call a tow truck. Ill never shop here again nor will my family or friends. So sad that you can treat humans like absolute dirt.

Cool local shop thats been in town as long as I can remember. Tons of imported/domestic Asian ingredients, sauces, packaged foods, snacks, drinks, household items. One of the few local places I could find a bamboo steamer. The owners Mom (or Grandma, cant recall) makes batches of spring rolls frozen in the back case. Fry them up and theyre sooo good. Spans tons of different ethnicities/foods but Im usually going for instant ramens, longinisa, frozen buns, and furikake. Not everything is cheap but the prices have always been sensible.

Name has changed to San Luis Asian Market, they were giving out really cute stickers. So much fun in a tiny store, I have to force myself to leave before I spend more than 50 bucks. Really good important snack foods a and ramen, some cookware and anime merch. Overall worth checking out even if you dont buy anything

This place is really the only store in slo/ North county for Asian groceries. They have an excellent selection and great snacks! The woman who works there is always very friendly and helpful. We love it!

We stop here because its a familiar grocery place. However, we saw this item here. I was a bit sketchy about the flavor and buying it. I though maybe it wouldnt live up to the flavor. I was wrong. Its actually pretty damn good.Its something that you should try at least once.

A lot of hard to get spices, sauces, pastes and veggies. Many varieties of noodles, soy sauces and frozen items as well. Loved it!Update: the customer service is on point! If they dont have what your looking for they will order it for you.

Love this place! Great selection of Asian and Hawaiian products, including all kinds of authentic staples, sauces, condiments, snacks, candies, and a nice selection of sakes and beer, too. But best of all, the lady that works the front counter is awesome. So friendly, and very helpful. I can to admit to feeing a bit out of my depth in an Asian market. But our local store is full of new foods to discover, plus the help I need to find them.

San Luis Oriental Market has a wide variety of delicious products. If you have any questions, the owner is always very happy to help. She has lots of good recommendations for the best products for whatever dish you might be trying to make. She has not steered us to anything that wasnt perfect for what we were trying to accomplish. there are all kinds of ingredients for whatever type of Asian cooking you might be interested in. Theres also convenience foods, snacks, treats and desserts, and a variety of adult beverages! Every time I go there, I find something new that I want to try. I highly recommend it! Shop locally, support San Luis Obispo businesses, and eat delicious food while doing it!

Refused service. Usually a person is refused service due to health or saftey issues. Why was I refused service? Possibly due to my skin color? I had a short time to pick up my pre-orded food right next door at SLO provisions. A woman chased me in, not anouncing to me who she was and told me to move my car. I ran out to see if I was blocking someone. Once I figured out she was from the market, I told her I was coming in there next. She told me I did not come in and tell her that, so I need to move my car. Less than the 30 seconds it took me to pick up my order, she was calling a tow truck. I entered the store with my list for my ramen recipe and she loudly ancounced Maam!! I need you to leave. I have asked 4 times! No reason other than I disrespected her, I suppose for not telling her ahead of time I was going to be coming in? She pointed to the camers and made me feel like a criminal. I understand the need to protect your parking spots, but I would rethink poor business decisions like this. If I was asian-looking, maybe she would have not denied me service. There are many complaints online about practices of this business accusing non-asians of theft, etc. Maybe the ACLU needs to her about these practices....

Best oriental grocery in county. Frequently have fresh green papaya, gai Lan, other hard to find asian greens. For a small store the pack in a lot of items. Mostly thai, chinese, Japanese. Some korean, Indonesian. No indian. If you cook those cuisines you should stop by.

Small selection. Good place to buy recipe items for someone who wants to try cooking Asian food. They have your typical jasmine rice, wrapper for sushi, frozen potsticker, different sauces etc. there was only one person working there and she seems knowledgeable how to use the items she sells and speak really good English. But for someone who enjoys traditional Asian cooking and looking for Asian ingredients this place doesn’t carry enough items. Overall this place is clean and convenient. Prices are high compared to other Asian food market.

Im a big fan of this market. They have a good variety of seasonings, sauces and other ingredients needed for forays into Asian inspired recipes. They have a few freezers and a few refrigerators for frozen and fresh ingredients.The best is when they have fresh, homemade pork buns! Ive only had them on Sunday afternoons, but it is possible they are available other days and times.

Love this little store. Weve been shopping there for twenty years. They have almost every imaginable Oriental food or spice you can think of at far lower prices than the big chain grocery stores.The owners are great folks and if youre lucky enough to be there when the fresh pork buns are available count yourself lucky. The Market was very nice and had various foods,spices and desserts to choose from. Staff was more than welcoming and will visit again. The only thing I would recommend is dont go expecting parking. The lot is small and tedious. Lack of parking skills from fellow patrons, so just park on the street or nearby and walk-in because its still worth it.

This is exactly how you would imagine an Asian store in SLO would look like. Its a great place to find what you need and the lady that was working there is very friendly! I like that there are ingredients from all sorts of Asian, not just Chinese. It would be nice however if it was remodeled just a little more. It doesnt have to be a whole foods but a nice small seven eleven would be nice.

According to the photos, it looks like a well stocked market. I am looking forward to see it while I visit my daughter. I would like to address the expensive prices that some people have pointed to. I live in SFV, a subhurb of Los Angeles - basically 20 minutes from Los Angeles Chinatown or 25 minutes from SGV (Chinese Neighborhoods). I expect to pay between 15 to 35 cents on top of the prices there. At SLO, I expect the prices are a lot more - driving, delivery, etc. I would say that SLO has a 2% asian population (mostly at Cal Poly). So the prices that they charge is reasonable (convenience) and expected. What you expect fresh dim sum too?! LOL!

The only real Asian Market in SLO that has all the goodies you would expect. We go to stock up at least a couple of times a year. Well, its a far cry from the huge Asian markets I had grown used to. This is it, as far as Asian groceries go, in SLO. The owner is great, the packaged food selection is adequate, the frozen stuff, ok. I was able to find about 80% of my yearly Oshogotsu supplies. Ill continue to shop there, but I love it when I go home to the big specialty Asian markets.
