Recommended!!!It’s our first time here and we’re satisfied with the quality of food.Fresh Fish, no after taste at all.Rolls are also good.We made a reservation and we’re immediately seated as we arrived.Excellent service.Parking is a little difficult (maybe because it’s Friday night)

TERRIBLE!!! We came at 8pm to take away. Two sunrise sashimi at 17$ no rice, you can’t eat the fish it was very disgusting! And two spicy shrimp rolls, it’s not worth it! Go to Ralph’s it’s really better!!! We did not expect anything exceptional from that restaurant but for the price we were very disappointed.

Great service and all the food (Miso Soup, Sunonomo Salad, Tempura Appetizer, Tuna Tartare - house specialty, Scallop & Mayo roll, Spicy Yellowtail Roll was delicious. We used to eat here a lot years ago when we lived in the area and so happy the quality and service are exactly what we remember. Definitely recommend.

Not my favorite but worth a visit. Service was OK but twice had to convince our server that items clearly listed on the menu are available in our section. Cooks did a great job with show. A couple of times it became rather smokey.

I had a blast all the time here, this is my favorite restaurant obviously I been around since 2013 all the time with family or just my husband and I. The pick up is always on time. And the drinks are wonderful!! Cheers for the bartender Enrique also the person who always receive me is as always helpful and great They have patience with my son when I had a hard time with him. Thanks for the wonderful service I just hope to get all the sushi I want want day jajaja

Somethings Fishy is a fairly large restaurant. This establishment has seating in their bar, main dinning room, and of course at the sushi counter. The food is pretty good. I often order tuna, albacore, yellowtail, ganja rolls, and many of the different types of cut rolls they offer. Ive been a patron of Somethings Fishy for approximately 20 years, and have recommended it many times to friends, as well as strangers. They are located on Ventura Boulevard between Canoga & Topanga Canyon.

We were in Ventura for my birthday on Feb 5, 2023. Just happened upon this place and let me tell you it was DELICIOUS!! Service was amazing! Ryan was our sushi chef and he was Great! He recommended the Salmon Delight Roll and I have to say that it was the best roll I have ever had!! So good!! I highly recommend going here for Sushi and they do Hibachi as well but we just ate at the sushi bar. Super Yummy!! I will definitely go back the next time we are in the area😊

You can’t beat this place on affordable sushi. I used to make sushi at home but found eating out here was more cost effective. They have the best vegetarian sushi out of anywhere I have tried. I always get their vegetable tempura cut roll which is my all time favorite.

Me and my significant other have been going here for years and we really enjoyed it. Its certainly is one of our favorite little sushi spots. A couple of our favorite waiters/waitress over there are Adrian and suoota. We try to request them whenever we can because they really make everything amazing and theyre so friendly. The other servers are great too, but we always personally ask for those two whenever were either at the sushi area or at the grill spot depending on which department theyre working that night. They also have amazing happy hour as well as half price rolls all the time even when its not happy hour. Come on inside here and you wont be upset with the food or the service.

We have celebrated three generations of birthdays here. Working on the fourth. Love this place. The salad is always crisp and the ginger based dressing is sublime. Portions are big and everything is tasty. Wash it all down with some Sake or a Sapporo then some fried green tea ice cream for dessert. Its a good thing there are a number of us since it gives us the excuse to get here for someones birthday a few times a year. You dont have to wait for anyones birthday to go there by the way. Its just a tradition we have. You can go any time during their business hours. I am sure they would love to see you.

My waitress gave me great service as well!The weird part was I specifically ordered tequila and passion fruit, the “bartender” makes my drink with orange and pineapple juice, then doesn’t say anything until I asked ¿ her response to me was, “oh yeah you had mentioned passion fruit but we’re out of it, is that ok?”

We love hibachi. And this place was great and exceeded my expectations. What I need is garlic butter))))) and they have it. Seabass was delicious as well as calamari. It always a good idea to go with kids since its an entertainment for everyone.

Came here last week with my husband excited to have dinner at one of my favorite spots only to receive horrible service, we waited 20 min just get seated after that we went unacknowledged by all the servers, we figured they were just busy that’s understandable but after waiting 10 min seated a table of 6 came in and got sat right away and their order taken right away which is not fair we had been waiting already 30 min or more after that we still decided to wait another 5 min and still no service. We got up and left dissatisfied and disappointed.

Super loyal customers for the last 25 years. Tonight we had the last straw. The new staff is terrible and does not appreciate long time customers. Our previous visit our server was rushing us out. This time we came for my birthday, the girl said she couldnt seat us even though we clearly saw open seats. Sorry something’s fishy. We love ya but it’s time to part ways.

Our party of 10 arrived on time. We waited 20 minutes to be seated even though our table was unoccupied and ready. The service was terribly slow at best and mostly nonexistent. Another table of people arrived 45 minutes after us and were serviced before us. The table along side us was filled over an hour after us and was served at the same time we were. The food was good but certainly not worth waiting an hour and a half for. Our meal took 2 hours and 45 minutes with really poor service. Ill never go back.

We had dinner reservations for 9pm. When we sat down and ordered drinks, the said that they are out of straws. They are located across the street from Ralphs. They couldnt send someone there to buy a box of straws? When it came to dessert time, all they had was chocolate and vanilla ice cream. This is a Saturday night. The staff was nice and professional. The food tasted great.

Extremely racist, waitstaff and hostess included. Might be the culture that was created for this location. Waited by the door for 5 minutes and never greeted or seated. Decided to sit at the bar were several other patrons were also seated. All where Caucasian and explained the bar staff called in sick. I waited and watch 2 waitstaff speak with the other bar patrons and ignore us. After several minutes of waiting for just a simple greet or eye contact and I left.

I have been here many times in the past and have always had a wonderful experience.This time, however, I dont think the ventilation system was fully operable, and the restaurant was quite smoky.At one point, I was actually having some trouble breathing, which had an adverse effect on my ability to enjoy my meal.Otherwise, food was good, and a bit over-priced.

Early Bird was expensive. Spent $130. The Cook didnt want to be there it seemed. No personality or show. My kids were disappointed. The steak was terrible. A couple centimeters thick and small. The salad dressing was OK if you like spicy on salad. The service was good. Would not eat there again based on the food experience. Too bad. I liked the place from previous experiences.

I love this place! This is my familys favorite spot to celebrate birthdays, graduations, anything. The tepan show is the exact same as anywhere else, but I feel like this place gives you a lot more food. The sushi is good, but dont bother with it. Just go straight for one of the tepan combos.

I have been supporting this restaurant since 2000 when they had the location on pch. The service has always been decent up until this year. As a regular I’ve always respectfully brought up service issues with the bartender who was consistently slow, absentminded and inattentive. The bartender apologized and explained that management had doled out additional sidework making it difficult to juggle both shift work and customer service. On another occasion I brought up the same issue to the manager on site. I returned the other night with a colleague and was told they would not serve us because there was no satisfying “you people”. I was never contacted by the owner on any site and left my contact information for him to no avail. I refuse to support racism to any degree verbally or nonverbal even though the food was decent.

Great restaurant, good food and much less expensive than Benihana‘s. Same foods, same style. Chefs Bryon and Ronald put on a good show. Get there before 6:00pm and get the early bird special and try a little of several dishes. One side is the hibachi grills and the other side is the Sushi bar, but you can get Sushi on both sides. Street parking and valet parking lot.

This place came highly recommended and it’s ok but I don’t find it great or incredible like some of the sushi places around. The prices are very good though and if you enjoy sushi you know in this area it’s usually expensive. I gave it four stars because I think this is a place you need to try yourself and decide. By the way we’ve gone twice and the last time they had no asparagus or avocado which really changes many sushi items. Maybe call and check before going. I wish we had!Update: I still give it a 4 but a high end 4. .... My husband and I have gone many more times and I have enjoyed it much more. Many half priced (half sized) options so you can try lots of different things. They havent been out of any items and everything is nice and fresh. Weve really had the opportunity to try nearly the whole menu now and I nothing disappoints. I also learned about the specials, and they have great happy hours, etc. Look into it! Oh, it seems like parking sucks but go around the back, up the hill; there is plenty of parking there. Lastly I want to add, if you like spicy, and I do a LOT, than be sure to try the spicy scallops. Mmm, Mmm good.

Most likely due to being in a large party but felt like it couldve been organized better. Tip: order items that they should cook together in large parties (i.e. chicken and steak). This is one of those places you go to cautiously. The food is ok, but it just never felt good in there. They appear to only have two tepanyaki cooks on staff during lunch which can really drag out your time there. This is not a fast meal, you need 1-2 hours to eat here. Also the name weirds me out. I dont want to question the state of the food or establishment from the moment I walk in. This is just bad branding.

Very good and plentiful teppan lunch with no wait. This time I had the Steak and Shrimp combo with fried rice. The rice is amazing. So much food when coupled with your soup and salad, along with fresh grilled vegetables and mushrooms. I highly recommend the teppan option, but they do have regular table seating available with sushi available un either setting.

Great sushi great prices. Took my wife on our first date here! June 2nd 1991, three kids now and its their favorite place. My son requested for his 14th birthday next week. The salmon skin salad is the best Ive ever had, lots of salmon skin and great dressing(not too sweet)and it huge by the way! They usually have great yellowtail belly, my personal favorite. Not what I expected. The place is designed very unorganized and there is a useless bar in the middle that totally wasted the space. The take-home service was horrible the food was ill-prepared, and the manager Vladimir yelled at me and hung up on me when I tried to explain how my order was not even close to what I ordered. I went to return my food twice and after the 3rd time of it being wrong I was convinced I was on a prank show. Yep- it was on me to think the incompetent staff was capable of handling basic motor skills like putting sauce in a to-go bag.My dinner was ruined, my home alone date night was a disaster and I think someone in our party was sold for human trafficking due to nightmare of an evening.If the owner turns around and fixes the necessities to make an unhappy customer satisfied, I will consider updating this post to reflect an accurate representation of my opinion of somethings fishy. This place is great for late night sushi. On the weekends, the sushi bar is open until midnight, and the Tepanyaki is open until 11:00 PM. The food is average but worth going.

3.9 rating? Are you Serious? This place is so good. Maybe they sat at the sushi area which is maybe a 4 star. I came here for teppanyaki. Sushi can be eaten at the teppanyaki area as well. But make sure you order teppan. Teppanyaki is like benihana. If you still dont know what teppan is. Its the art of cooking food in front of you using comical tricks such as creating a fire funnel through an onion, or bouncing an egg on the metal spatula, then turning the spatula sideways to crack the egg. Simple tricks like that to entice the crowd. There are always prices to attract you and different times with different combos. Usually when I eat here.. i have a teppan, then ill mostly order sushi along with it. Nothing wrong with that. The teppan room is quite different from the sushi room. The sushi eating section is very bland in decor... the teppan room is decorated with bamboo and the setting feels like you are in a japanese setting. I have no idea how to further explain it. But, if you do decide to go, check it out!!!! Food is amazing, service is amazing,, they have made a loyal customer out of me!

Hands down this is my favorite sushi spot in CA. the states! I went for the third time last night before the Lakers game Go Lakers!. This tiny, sushi bar is famously the most expensive restaurant in Woodland Hills, and most nights it is also the best, with fish unseen anywhere else in the country. Other sushi restaurants display fish wrapped behind glass in a refrigerated case at Somethings Fishy the fish is out in the open, well lit. Waitresses refill your glass with sake replace hot towels and remove plates so efficiently that you are barely aware of them at all.There is one senses an enormous effort to keep the customers comforted in serenity and bliss.
