Got a BBQ Pork Bahn Mi and it was really good. Also got a strawberry boba smoothie and it was excellent as well. For the price this place is awesome, staff speak English fairly well but definitely broken. Doesnt really matter since they were so friendly! Would definitely recommend this place for anytime of day. They have a breakfast sandwich option which looked good too 😋

We love the bahn mi sandwiches. We’ve been multiple times and they’re always so fresh and delicious. My meat loving husband and kids love the vegetables in the bahn mi. We’ve tried beef, bbq chicken, pork belly, and bbq pork. They’re all great!There’s a long strip of fresh jalapeño that I take out rather than ordering without. It’s too confusing which is which and it’s super easy to find. Lol!We’ve had boba too and it’s also great!

I am always looking for bun rieu and bun Bo hue and I was in the area so I googled “Vietnamese food” and this popped up. I was very intrigued with the photos I saw so I stopped by. I was already in love when I walked in and saw the already made food that was there!I am so used to Seattle where the Vietnamese deli was so dominant and I miss it! So this place reminded me of Seattle. They had spring rolls, banh cuon, egg rolls, banh Bao and so many other stuff that you can grab and go!They have a huge selection of Vietnamese sandwiches (banh mi) along with so many soups! Bun rieu and bun Bo hue is definitely one of those that is not on the common menu so I was very impressed when I saw it! I was even more impressed when they had all the authentic stuff inside of it! Including the blood cubes!!! I loved it!There is a couple tables in there that you can sit and enjoy your food too! I am going to keep coming back and trying more of their food! I can’t wait to try the banh xeo!!!

Ive been wanting to try this place for a long time but I honestly dont think Ill be back.. I went in wanting to try their Banh Xeo. Which is also known as a Korean pancake. So I walk in and place my order and the boy says we dont have it .. first I am very shocked because its really just flour and water with seasonings cooked as a thin pancake to a crisp.. they couldve made it.. it just seemed like they didnt want to.. I could be wrong but that was the impression I got.. So I asked for a second because I am already there so might as well figure something else out on the menu to eat right? I ended up ordering a pork belly banh mi and a Thai tea. The sandwich was good but Ive had good banh mis at Vietnamese restaurants before so it didnt really win me over. The pickled daikon radishes were cut super thick but I guess thats how they do it here. The Thai tea was just okay, a little artificial tasting. Everything was just good not great.

Ive stopped by here a handful of times whenever Im in north county. Every single time the food is SO good! Its a small hole in the wall spot next to a grocery store. The prices are some of the best around ($6.50+ tax came to $7 even as of the time of this posting) for a combo of any banh mi (I like the bbq pork) plus 2 egg rolls and a canned soda. They have other options as well that I will try later but their banh mi are out of this world. The bun is nice and toasted, the meat is seasoned to perfection and juicy, the carrots and daikon radish add great texture as well as a sweet and tangy contrast to the slight spicyness of the pork. Add on top of that some great service and this becomes my go to spot for a quick bite up in north cou nty!

My husband and I had hiked Palomar Mountain most of the day so we were super hungry when we got here. We live in San Diego where the Vietnamese food is seriously lacking so I had low expectations coming into this place. I was born and raised in Saigon so I like to think my tastebuds know what Home tastes like. The little Vietnamese lady that worked the register and hustled in the kitchen was the sweetest. You order at the register, pay, and sit. It’s not a fancy restaurant, just your local Viet diner attached to a grocery store. They bring the food out to you and without asking, also bring you a tall glass of ice water. We all know about the stereotypical rushed, rude service at Asian joints. You will definitely not find that here. I just wanted to hug these people.At first glance, one would think this spot specializes in banh mi. However, digging into the Yelp reviews I was surprised to see Bun Bo Hue and Bun Rieu mentioned often. My mom makes the best bun rieu so I never order it when I’m out. Except Momma is across the country in DC and I was desperate for some comfort food.So I got the Bun Rieu and almost started crying on first bite. The broth was clean and simple, not extra greasy or salty but had the perfect flavor profile of pork, tomato, and seafood. They made sure all the toppings were there, the rieu (eggy minced pork concoction), congealed pork blood, fish cake (which by itself is another level of delicious), fried tofu, all the salad/mint/bean sprout fixings, AND the legit pungent fermented shrimp paste in a plastic container hidden next to the lemon slice. Trust me, mix some of this into the broth and that umami will hit you in the face. The portion is HUGE and unless you’re really hungry, you could probably split a bowl between two people.We also ordered the banh cuon, chewy rice crepe with minced pork which traditionally comes with a side of pork cha lua, nem chua, steamed bean sprouts, and cucumber. Make sure you top this with the fish sauce that comes with it. The texture was chewier than I’m used to but I really enjoyed it.Lastly, we ordered a chicken banh mi with all the fixings. I asked the lady to add pate which she happily obliged at no charge. The chicken was slightly dry but I did appreciate the large chunks of meat marinated in turmeric and lemongrass (traditionally it’s shredded and soy flavored). The baguette itself wasn’t all that great which was a bummer but we did come at a weird time (3:30pm on a Saturday).In summary, support your local Mom and Pop! They are a sweet, honest business that deserve a chance. This is as authentic as it gets. The noodle soups taste just like home, or a stoop on an alley in Saigon. We saw a few locals eating in and most of them ordered the bun rieu or bun bo hue. They do have some traditional snacks, desserts, and finger foods pre-made next to the register. They do catering as well (based on all the pictures and signs in the place).

You may miss this great stop for fast cheap yummy food if you do not pay attention. This is a very nice clean place that is part of a small asian grocery store. I was only going to make a quick stop and pick up a couple of groceries and found this place by luck. What a great find. I got one of the best Vietnamese sandwich and baba smoothie for lunch. Very nice young man at the counter make this a even better place. I will surely be back frequently now that I know its there.

Bread was nice and crispy outside, soft inside and yumminess of our selections. Definitely would go back! Definitely would recommend! Great little Vietnamese sandwich shop. Everything we ordered was well prepared and flavorful. The staff was extremely pleasant and didnt seem to mind answering our silly questions. I especially enjoyed the puff pastry with pork filling, so much that I bought all (3) they had left. I will be going back to try their other offerings.

Sorely disappointed after reading raving reviews about this being the best banh mi in northern san diego.order: 2 veggie banh mis + tofu spring rollsfor the banh mipros:- affordable price relative to other lunch spots in the area- ok amount of picklescons:- actually still rather pricey for a banh mi- tastes like store bought bread vs fresh made- didnt taste much of the vietnamese mayo on there- pickles were flavorless, which is normally the best part- charges $0.50 for extra pickles (most places just give you extra)for the spring rolls:pro:- peanut sauce was okcons:- it was literally all noodles, a piece of lettuce, a piece of tofu, wrapped in a rice paper. it came with 2 rolls which cost almost the same as the banh mi.

Okay so, we havent been back in ages because my fiance got a tiny snail in his egg roll lettuce a long time ago🤣💔 but seriously the food is delicious, the snail was alive btw and I explained to my fiance that if it was dead that would have been more concerning. Well Im more happy to eat here again, heck they eat escargot in France and crickets in the Philippines and grasshoppers in Mexicoso, so whatever, i guess they could be more careful when washing the lettuce but I never penalize a place for a one time bug occurrence especially when its not a roach 😅 fantastic bbq sandwiches, and nothing Ive had here didnt taste delicious. Keep up the good work, just make sure to remove the extra protein when you see my fiance 😝🤭❤

Fourth visit to this restaurant and each time has been excellent. Menu is limited compared to other Vietnamese places but the quality is very good, and frankly I worry about freshness with huge menus anyway. Family-oriented and very accommodating when I’ve asked for special changes to the menu items. The service is fast and friendly. I pass by three other Pho places on the way here but this place is well worth the trip.

How this place doesn’t have a line out the door I have no idea..The BEST bun I’ve ever had -kinda like a noodle buddah bowl of pickled veggies, mint cilantro noodles red cabbage and a sauce you pour over. AND THE BEST BBQ PORK EVER.The bbq pork was perfectly seasoned - that kind of ‘I can’t stop eating this’ flavor. Not burnt or dry at all.Wish I had 4 stomachs so I could eat everything on the menu at once and not die from gluttony.

Food wasnt great. We wanted to dine in, but they was closing in 30 minutes and pushed out me and my family. They kept repeating we close in 30 min we close in 30 min. I know you are closing in 30 min, but I am customer and you are servicing me not me servicing you. Most restaurants would be more than happy to have you sit and eat so they can get a nice tip. We just so everyone knows this is the last time my family and I will never go there to eat again and dont believe the good reviews shown, they seem like reviews from family.

This Vietnamese restaurant shares space with the Asian Market (La Sorpressa) and is worth a bite if youre doing a bit of grocery shopping. The banh-mi sandwich was decent as was the vermicelli but the pho wasnt the greatest and had some really soft mooshy noodles that werent really pho noodles at all. This place would do in a pinch if there werent at least 3 other pho joints within a 5 minute drive of this one that are better. Adding a star because I just tried their fabulous meat pastry pies and steamed ground meat buns. Really good. Always get them with my to-go order of banh-mi.
