This is going on my list of places to visit when Im in the Bay area.... a list I just decided Im starting, but thats beside the point.The drink menu is very creative, I went thru all 68 pages and read the quotes sprinkled in it. Those tickled my funny bone.For a drink, I got the Golden Snitch, which was made to perfection.The strawberry salad is BOMB. I usually would add a protein but Im glad I didnt because it didnt need it. So good!The brownie desert was delicious and not too big of a portion.Definitely will be back!

My experience at Sons of Liberty Alehouse had its highs and lows. The Blackberry Moscow Mule and Blackberry Sparkling Lemonade were disappointing, seeming watered down and lacking flavor. However, the Wedge Salad and Fish and Chips were standout dishes, impressively fresh and well-prepared. The meal showcased both disappointments and delights, highlighting areas for improvement while also demonstrating the kitchens potential.

I looked for a lunch place with a patio and came across SOLA. It ended up being a really good find because it allowed me to eat comfortably with my new baby without feeling concerned about the space or noise. My husband had the chilaquiles which were very good, and I had the chicken & waffles which were delicious. My husband had a beer which he enjoyed and I had freshly squeezed grapefruit juice which was great. Plus, the service was also good.

First time at this place and I will go back good place and good value.We had brisket nachos and they were really good and a good size share ! We where four and was plenty left for mains we had the chicken sandwich and was really good as well . My wife had the fish and chips and was pretty big size .they have some good looking drinks but we only had a fresca alcoholic drink but was good but too spicy.Service is ok but room for improvement.We got the crip for dessert and was a lot to share between two.

1st time, great spot for lunch, dinner or pregame. Tried the chicken wings & they were a hit. They have a variety of cocktails & beers to choose from. Service was kinda slow even though they had good numbers off servers. Outdoor seating is also available. Overall, it was good, check it out.

Came here to kick it with a buddy. Poutine was awesome. Iced tea came in a champagne glass which was odd. one refill only.Nice atmosphere tricky to find though.Staff is nice water came in a old glass milk jug. Which was odd. Was cold inside. As soon as the sun set.Other than that wonderful.

Their fish and chips is probably the best I have had in the Bay Area. Amazingly done with local beer batter and crisply done. We also tried the peppers which were tasty and the occasional one or two were super spicy. We enjoyed this combination with our drinks.

Very efficient in its design and clean bathroom. Potatoes costs $15 throughout the menu. If you are not a fan of the city of San Leandro, you probably like this restaurant better.

This place has one of the best bars in the east bay! I love the revolving drink menu here and the poutine... Oh the magical poutine! This is not something you find everywhere and they have this one nailed. I get this literally everytime I go there! The duck carnitas hash on the brunch menu is killer. Chicken and waffles... Super duper! Beer battered fish and chips... Amazing! Its hard to order something bad here. SOLA is not your standard, average brewery type spot. The Alehouse at the end of the name says it all and separates the men from the boys. Do yourself a favor and come check this place out.

Ribs were so crispy and meaty, not too much sauce, garlic fries were tasty and fluffy, super fresh. Burgers were pretty good, really moist and juicy. Tacos meat was tender, the tortillas used for the taco were ok. Had a delicious IPA. Everything was fantastic.

Good food, good drinks, and a great atmosphere. I came here to watch the Warriors game one night and I was impressed with everything. They have a lot of TVs so you can see the games from any seat inside. The food was really good. I liked the shrimp & grits dish a lot. We were lucky enough to get sat right away, but it did get a little busier as the game went on. Id definitely come back here again.

Nice atmosphere and drink menu. Wanted to like the food but it just wasn’t anything great. Deviled eggs just tasted like hard boiled eggs with toppings on them, not an actual deviled egg mixture.

Delicious food! Good beer selection! Great service! Super yummy food. I cant say enough about the Brussel sprouts. Wow! So good. The crispy ribs were indeed crispy on the outdoor and moist on the inside. The sauce was a little bit spicy. The tomato soup was really good too! A great experience and fun ambiance. Its on the pricey side but worth it!2 months later: visited again and had an equally positive experience. Food was so yummy! Ribs are my favorite.

The food and the drinks are delicious. Everything from their $6 creamy tomato soup, to their garlic fries, and their entrees are great. Not to mention the cocktails and drinks. Definitely refreshing and a good time. Make sure to call in ahead of time to see how long their wait is, especially for Sunday brunch 👍🏻.

Nice selection of a variety beers and wines, along with inventive, seasonal cocktails. I had the duck carnitas tacos, and others at our table had brisket (noted as being surprisingly good), fish & chips, and a shrimp po boy. French fries are nicely crisp and well-seasoned. Overall, tasty and fresh food at a reasonable price with a variety of options. Sports bar atmosphere can make it hard to hear occasionally. We saw families enjoying the space and noted the outside dining area. Service was excellent: attentive without being overbearing and friendly too. Looking forward to a return to try the poutine and the brisket nachos.

I went here in 2019 and once before that and let’s just say they’re still on my mind. I now live in the Midwest and there is not a single place here that compares how great this place is. It’s got a very chill vibe with great food and a lovely selection of alcoholic beverages that’s sure to please even the pickiest connoisseur. It’s a great place for affordable fine dining and to visit for any occasion. Perfect for your first date or your 100th. I definitely recommend this place and I miss not being able to be there, but I’ve told many people about it and I hope they can go in my honor.

Went to eat dinner on 10-28-23 and I got a chicken sandwich. It was ok. My parm, garlic fries were so cold. Mac and cheese was horrible. They gave me old cold bacon bits that were not fresh at all. So dissatisfied. Just being honest 🤷

Used to be better - not sure what slid downhill. The beer is still great, but the service was slow and rude - maybe Sundays are not the day to go. Waitress never came to the high tops, a Waiter from another section said he could put the order in for her. The Busboy gave my drink order to the Bartender who came over to confirm. The Hostess refilled the water bottle. Burger was good, overcooked & fries were tired and soggy. I like the cloth napkin - but,10% tip this time - sorry, Sons of Liberty.

Went here for dinner tonight. We were seated pretty quickly. They took our order in a timely manner and then it went south. We sat at our table for over 30 minutes after we order and never recieved our drinks or any food. The people sitting next to us who were sat after we ordered got their meal. We still didnt recieve anything. First time in my life I have ever walked out of a restaurant.Not to mention while we were waiting doe nothing we observed the hostess clearing tables of dirty dishes and trash, brushing crumbs off the table with her hands and then resetting the tables. Never once wiped down a tables, just reset the dirty tables.I definitely would not recommend this place.

With Sons of Liberty, San Leandro has modern, lively restaurant that appeals to young adults as well as older couples and families with teens. The quality of the food is great, the menu is extensive (though I would like more vegetarian options), and the beer/ale selection is fantastic. Great fish and chips. Plus they have a welcoming patio in front of the restaurant for outdoor dining.

Great drink selection! Lots of local IPA and stouts (only one other though...) The seasonal cocktails fit the mood and were well prepared and reasonably priced. Everything we ordered was excellent. We started with the cheese plate. Very good selection and plenty to eat for two of us. The brisket was perfectly done. The beans and coleslaw were yummy and complimented very well. The hamburger was good, but would prolly order something else next time. Good parmesan fries! Amazing mac and cheese. We filled up. We will definitely be back!

First off I called in and made reservations, when we got there they couldnt find us on the list. Not a very good start. I ordered my burger well done and instead of well done it was burned on the bottom and I had to cut the bottom off just to eat it. SOLA is a new place still working out the kinks. I rate it 3.5 - 4 starts at this time.- BEER: Not overwhelming beer selection but it seems well balance. The selection should have something that may appeal to the various pallets. Beer prices seems to be reasonable. The cocktail menu plus the small wine option with the food options make this place a good place for a date night. Although, the tv screens above the bar makes feel like its trying to be sports bar which is in odds with the decorum of the place.- FOOD: The Duck tacos are ok, the meat is good and tasty but the fact only 2 tacos come with the order and the tortilla is not the best, makes me think this item is overpriced. The garlic fries were good, nice and fresh, garlic was not overpowering which is god, but a bit disappointed with the amount for the price. Highly recommend the Brussel Sprouts with bacon and walnuts and cheese as it complements well with just about any beer or wine on the menu.- SERVICE: It was ok, nice and friendly staff but needs a bit of work. Asked for suggestion or insights between the two beers I was interested in; unfortunately the server did not know anything about the beer and nor could provide any suggestion. This is a big minus.

Sons of Liberty is exactly what San Leandro needs as its demographics starts aging younger.Ive been coming here periodically since they opened and my experience is consistent.Parking may be challenging to find. Its next to Safeway and Safeway parking is not enough for Safeway. Now theres a brewery near and other restaurants, you should take the first parking spot you see.The restaurant is small, they may have 2 dozen tables inside and another dozen outside. So bring your patience if your coming during brunch or happy hour.In our last visit we arrived about 830 pm and the wait staff were sitting at the back of the bar. They took a few minutes to address us, but we were seated quickly. Our server was quick to respond and memorized our order and got all the substitution correct.Honey ordered the Rosey Cheeks and it was really smokey. Good once you get past the smokey flavor. I had the Apple Cider Moscow Mule, 5 stars.Honey went for the burger which is always good. You cant fail with the burger. I had the Brisket Nachos. The brisket was go good. It just melted in your mouth.Ive tried other menu item and the only one I didnt like was the fish and chips. The beer batter was a little too much and the fish was under seasoned.Overall Sons of Liberty is a great restaurant and bar. Their is close to 0 disappointment with the food and staff. It now a San Leandro staple and I hope the expand to a bigger location.

Overall, slow service, loud atmosphere, good food and drinks. After seeing all the great reviews on service I was excited to try this place. But from the get go being passed by on the bar several times for a drink order(with trying to flag down a bar tender) menus dirty and sticky (see photo) and then what appears to be the manager brush by your credit card and check that you have been waiting 10 min to pay to talk with a customer right next to you where they could have easily closed my check and still chated shows a myopic view of service standards. Go here if you have lots of free time and want sub par service for a $73 dinner for one.

I sat at the bar and had an amazing time! Their specialty cocktails are DELICIOUS and their spins on classic food items are sensational. The ribs were fried with bbq sauce drizzled over them, never had ribs fall of the bone like that—mind blown!Also, everyone their seems to know each other, or they get to know each other. It has a very fun, friendly, welcoming environment and crowd.

4.5 stars. Solid. Great beer. Margarita Pizza had great quality ingredients, but the dough in the center was a little floppy. Pepitos, zatar and lemon in the hummus was excellent; zesty and nutty, and the pita was made fresh (based on the pizza dough I think, excellent). Really enjoyed the brussel sprouts, especially the miso? based sauce.

The theme of the place attracted us to the establishment and the decor & atmosphere is very pleasant. Be prepared to spend some money though.The food was delicious, my wife LOVED their drinks. I will say they give their food alot of attention and it shows. They plate their food well, giving pleasant presentations.Food wasnt bland, it had a punch of flavor, staff was attentive and friendly. I had the fried chicken sandwhich, crunchy on the outside moist interior. I would recommend their mac & cheese.My only real complaint was price and food serving size, but Ill let you be the judge of that.

What a very nice place. Had the devil eggs-which was super yummy, the plating was not identical to the photo with the pink radish, but very yummy non the less and nachos was also yummy (missing beans, but the super soft brisket made up for it😋😍❣️The passion fruit pisco and the blood orange were very yummy, cant wait to come back when its warmer. They have a nice outdoor patio with heaters available and nice lights. Service was excellent, attentive but not buggin.

Update:Came back for the tacos again. Editing to add thay we tried the garlic fries also and they were cooked perfectly with lots of garlic. I also really liked the dishes that the condiments came in.Okay, I came here for dinner and my food was amazing! We had the duck tacos and brisket nachos. The vibe of the place was super nice. It looked like they have a lot of fun. The duck tacos, you guys, ooooh my goooood!Our host/server was very friendly and attentive, even the manager made sure to smile & was nice. He had to remove someone, (who came in not to buy food), and the manager handled it very quietly and professionally. I dont even think anyone noticed but me.As time went by, it got much busier. I ordered a 2nd plate of tacos, and my fiance ordered the nachos. By the time my tacos came, his nachos were so cold he couldnt really enjoy them (he did eat a few while waiting and said they were good). I tried the nachos myself and didnt like them. The melt in your mouth texture and smoky flavor of the meat on nachos just wasnt for me as a combination (although thats exactly how the meat should be so no stars deducted, just my preference).

Came here at around 9pm on a Friday. Cocktails were the only good thing about this visit. Service was ok-ish. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and fries and was not impressed. Chicken was hard, dry, under seasoned. Fries were dry and unappetizing. The grilled cheese looks much better, I’d get that next time. (Probably won’t try it again though)

Came for brunch and was intrigued by the fact that they have duck carnitas. Ordered a Mezcal Maria (bloody Mary with mezcal) which was really good and quite spicy. I also ordered the Huevos Rancheros which I had topped with duck carnitas. They were really good, spicy as well. Ill definitely come back here next time Im in the area.

The fish and chips were a bit oily and lacked flavor. We also had the daiquiri which my friend said was pleasant. I chose the tiki drink. It could have been stronger. I wouldnt say they were the most bold tasting fish and chips, but thats okay because thats where the malt vinegar comes in.The chips, the fries, were not the best. I was so looking forward to having Fish and Chips from this restaurant. I am so disappointed. I placed my order and after 30 minutes I asked about the status my order. The waitress went to the kitchen and immediately brought out my food. I asked her how long it had been sitting in the kitchen because the container was only lukewarm and she said 2 or 3 minutes. It was my first time here and I had heard nothing but great things about SOLA. The bar staff amazed me with there spunk and kindness. I noticed an almost all female staff which was really cool. I was thrilled when Sons of Liberty opened and really wanted to have dinner there. My sister highly recommended it so last night we went for dinner. The drinks were good and the atmosphere was pleasant. I was impressed with the drink list and the names of the drinks. We ordered the poutine. The fries werent fried well enough to hold up the the gravy and they had no salt. The only flavor you got was the sweet of the gravy unless you got one of the cheese curds. The outer edges of the burger were like charcoal and the inside was bone dry. I asked for steak sauce and was told there was none, mind you they have steak on the menu. So I asked for ketchup since the meat had no flavor and was just dry. They didnt even offer mustard, mayonnaise or any other condiment.The onions were supposed to be grilled. It was more like thee cook heated up the onions and not actually grilled them. I guess if you dont get a bun, you get no condiments. I always get my burgers well done and with no bun. They never come out burnt. Service was sporadic. I almost fell off my chair when the bill was $81. This restaurant is way over priced for the limited menu and the quality of the food. We wont be returning.

First time here after hearing great things from co-workers. Nice crowd for Monday, not too busy but not empty either. Started with brussel sprouts appetizer - delish. Then salad and grilled cheese and tomato soup. Everything was fresh and tasty. Had a shandy to drink. Cant wait to go back and try the burger.

Great bar with a lot of choices in drinks, including specialty drinks. If you like the fruity drinks then the Pina colada is solid. Otherwise the beer and wine menu will handle your needs. The food is pretty good as well. I had the house burger and it didnt disappoint, with garlic fries. We also got the chicken wings and didnt think the spicy sauce was that spicy. Portion sizes are large too by the way! So go hungry.

Called in to arrange for a table for 3. Showed up and the table wasnt ready. Sat on the patio with our dog for 40 minutes and after 45 minutes an employee came out to seat us. Customer service was poor. Drinks were tasty and it was a good evening. Will not go back.

Just to get it out there right away: this place is not cheap. It is totally worth the price though. They cooked the steak to a flawless medium rare. Turns out duck fat is the trick to great fingerling potatoes. I had never really understood poutine until I had theirs with the duck carnitas. They are amazing. Also, my mom had the shandy, and she says its made right (the lemonade they make it with is not sweet, which is how its made in England, but American bars keep putting sweet lemonade in shandy). Service was also excellent. Its a little loud, but thats to be expected from a bar-like environment.

Fish and chip had no flavor but tarter sauce was good I ordered shrimp and grits small shrimp grits was so cold I had to order chicken tenders which was hot and flavorful garlic fries are good but not enough to bring me back as a Mgr of a restaurant I saw some Osha issues waitresses seem to just be here for a check no customer service skills and enthusiasm plus 4$ for small coke in bottles over priced

I will start by saying the staff was great. Tonight I was shocked and disturbed to find a packed pub and the only people wearing masks was the staff. The sign on the door read masks required but in actuality it was not. Knowing we are in cold and flu season in a COVID pandemic with a new variance the packed pub had the front doors closed and zero ventilation. Shame on the management for not doing better.

Im willing to give this place another shot because I went two weeks after they opened and they were still figuring things out. But how do you call yourself a alehouse and have no beer on tap? I heard they are waiting to get it installed but it seems like something you shouldve worked out before opening. Also, my friend made a reservation for dinner and they put us at a table with not enough seating. The food and service was decent and the beer selection was fair, but they really need to get the tap system installed and work out some of the kinks with seating folks.

This place is EXACTLY what downtown San Leandro has needed. Awesome beer program, excellent cocktail program, excellent food on the menu. If I had one complaint, it was the small menu and the service could be better. Its good, not great. Thats really picking nits, though. I love this place and will keep coming back until I see obvious decline. (Which I really hope doesnt happen)

Liked this place a lot. It does have a hipster feel which Im fine with but it makes the items on the menu a little more pricey than youd expect. The food is good salads, grilled cheese, and brussel sprouts is what our group had, all was good.

The proprietors are still fine-tuning their offerings (beer vs cocktails, etc.), but its clear that they are aiming for a great experience, and largely hitting it. The food is high quality, though not ambitious. The beer list is good, and they have shown a recent interest in ramping up their cocktail game. A good vibe in the restaurant, with competent/friendly service. Brunch exceeded expectations. Prices are a tad high, keeping it from being a terrific value. Overall among the best pub/restaurant experiences in San Leandro.

Really enjoyed this place after picking up my daughter at Oakland Airport. Lots of happy hour drink specials and a good variety of tasty appetizers. We sat outside an enjoyed the atmosphere. Its not Paris, but its fine.

I ordered poutine with duck carnitas and fish n chips. Now to be honest I have never had poutine before so I dont have a bar set.I loved the poutine, with the gravy and duck felt like an absolute match to my taste buds. I recommend it if you have tried duck before. Even if you havent nows a great time to start and this place is a great place to try.(Disclaimer: I tried the fish first before the duck)I knocked off one star for my fish n chips. My fish came what seemed to be a bit overcooked. The outside batter was very crispy and very hot, but the fish itself was quite dry and a bit lacking in seasoning. I personally had to add just a touch of salt to get some flavor.All in all, I am looking forward to going back and trying their alcohol menu. I mean it is an alehouse after all.For those who are curious, they have outside seating with heat lamps. I only noticed this while we were waiting to be seated.

Went for Sunday Brunch, patio is dog friendly, staff were nice and helpfull. We ordered the duck hash, beet hash and stuffed French Toast. All were quite good. Enourmousvl seedless blackberries on French Toast were perfectly ripe and sweet. All around a pleasant experience. Glad to have them in San Leandro!

I honestly love this place and I always dine out however I ordered food from them before and twice my order came out really bad. So I called them and I wasn’t mad or anything but when I told the person my order came out burnt he didn’t really bother to initiate to fix the order. Have visited Sons of Liberty Alehouse several times now. Great atmosphere, excellent service and delicious gourmet food. Youll love the Cajun Grits, but the Duck Carnitas Tacos are to die for. Its also a good place to just pop in, sit at the bar, and watch the game.

Definitely impressed with how far this place has come. At first they didnt even have beers on tap. Didnt make much sense for an ale house. Now that they do I can review. Beer selection isnt shabby. Good amount and a choice for everyones taste. Food is delicious. Would call it a gastropub if they didnt call themselves an ale house but really whats the difference besides good food. Parking in the area sucks so be prepared. Its small so reserve or come early. Not a place for TVs a place for conversing and relaxing.

In the area from out of town with a colleague on business. We visited SOLA last night for dinner and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere fits perfectly with the theme and brings you back to a different time. Our server provided wonderful insight into the menu and beverage options and was very understanding regarding special dietary requirements. We ordered an array of food with several modifications. Each item arrived in a timely manner and exceeded our expectations. The food was absolutely decadent. The brussels sprouts are simply to die for. This is an absolutely MUST HAVE on all of our future trips to this area.

Everything is great here. Havent had a food I didnt like. Service is always great. The Cuban is phenomenal. The nectarine and blue berry tart was divine!!! Will definitely be back.
