We had some skepticism about this place but it was very nicely decorated with large tables. The meat was fantastic and you can get 4 plates at a time. We got the premium option for that American Kobe. Pretty nice knowing there is a good local KBBQ place. Soda is from a can, not fountain but thats to be expected. Get your meat on!

The seasoning on the meat was good overall, but the temperature on the grill was so low that it took too much time to cook the meat. The temperature inside was so high that I felt dispirited, but the servers were friendly.
After a long day at Legoland, my kids so hungry, I googled the nearest BBQ. Lucky to get a recommendation here! It took about 10 minutes to drive here, we were quickly lined up because we had made an appointment in advance before leaving land ! There food is simply amazing, we ate a lot .everything wonderful, service member has a great attitude, asking for additions few times make sure we all good . Enjoyable dinner, the kids said they would give a 5 star review, hahaha! I will come back here next time when I come to San Diego!

First time here. The wait was kind of long considering that it was a Monday night and the restaurant seemed a little understaffed. However once we got our table things ran a little smoother. Food was yummy service was quick as possible considering staffing levels. Well definitely visit again.
I went here Saturday night. We thought they closed at 11pm. We were there waaaay past 10pm, and were treated like the place was open 24 hours a day. Remarkable! The food is fantastic, the prices are great. But, man.....we were treated so nicely and I felt so badly when I looked up that it closes at 10pm. I will be back very soon. Kudos!
Decent Korean BBQ but table was dirty, ordering was less convenient than other places like Gaja and music was very loud. Meat quality was also lower than expected however, my metric is based on Korean BBQ in Japan where meat quality was always very high.

This was my first time to a Korean BBQ place and I am very happy to have chosen this one.We arrived just ahead of the dinner rush without a reservation. Luckily, we were able to get a table right away. I highly recommend you make a reservation, though. By the time we left there were nearly 30 people waiting for tables.The food was amazing. My friends had been to a KBBQ before so they helped me with ordering. The entire experience was great. Our server explained much to me on how it all works. We paid one price each for all you can eat. So many choices, not enough time! I will definitely be returning soon.

Went here to celebrate our bdays with the fam. On a weekend night, the service was exceptional. Always had meat at the table and never had a gap in service. Food is as good as any other kbbq place and has a variety of options to choose from, but we especially love the American kobe, Prime steak options!Ill definitely come back because good service for a good kbbq place is hard to come by!
This place is very good. I come back for the spicy pork, and spicy bulgogi. Order the kimchi soup with the meal it totally authentic and goes perfect with the meal. I get them to give me garlic to grill up with my meal and it completly Korean style. I will keep coming back here. They do get busy so service is a 4 but they are very friendly.
I havent had Korean BBQ since college and was craving something all you can eat. Sony BBQ definitely did not disappoint.COVID stuff: check in on yelp and wait outside for your table. Employees were wearing masks and customers were wearing masks to their table. Everyone was adequately spaced out.Food: we got brisket, sliced marinated beef (bulgogi), pork belly, shrimp, and some vegetables. Everything was super good and we had several helpings of the brisket. They also had really good sides to break up the meat and help you keep eating more.Service: service was great, they were super attentive and were right there asking if we wanted more when we were getting low. Offered to replace our grills several time as they were getting messy.Definitely plan on coming back!
It was our first time eating at SONU, but it definitely will not be our last! We were seated very quickly (hint: arrive early!), And our waiter was extremely fast with service the entire night. The proteins and veggies were fresh and amazing. The cook top was replaced frequently. We never ran out of anything and it all tasted amazing. Obviously becareful with kids because the grill is hot and within arms reach, but let them join in and help cook. They be needless at how fast everything come, you can use the time to teach about differences in cooking styles, and how to know when something is cooked enough to eat. Seeing is believing!Here are a few tips Id suggest.- Make a reservation or get there early. I didnt realize how busy it was, but when we left there was a line out the door and around the building of people waiting.- Let your grill cover get hot before you start cooking and request a new grill cover between every order.- You cant go wrong with any of the proteins or veggies. Pork belly takes longer to cook and the octopus is whole. Unless youre an octopus expert it can be chewy so maybe go with the shrimp instead.- The point is to enjoy some social time while youre cooking. Try new foods and have a blast!
Whilst the service was pretty good, the food got me horribly sick for the next two days. Not to mention, on one occasion, they almost overcharged me by 540 dollars. I not going to risk going here again.

We had an issue with our dinner tonight and we notified the employees right away. We didnt expect anything but wanted them to be aware but they were kind enough to give us a discount anyways. ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!! Use Yelp to get in the waitlist because the line is pretty long then make sure to check in with the host when you get there. The food is AMAZING! I do want to highlight the fact this is a full COOK IT YOURSELF type of Korean bbq so be prepared to put in some work for the meat. 10/10 would recommend

Food, service, and location are excellent here! The beef is good quality and the portions are huge. The friendly and fast service makes everything so much better. Absolutely love the large booths as well as plenty of space to eat comfortably. Tables are large enough to be socially distant and everything was super clean.
Meat was too thickly sliced. Brisket was chewy and not marbled well. The kimchi was not good at all. Seafood soup was powdery. Kobe beef is now unlimited. Overall would make the drive to convoy for better kbbq, but the service was on point!
Probably one of the worse Korean BBQ places Ive been to. The restaurant felt very dirty, maybe the staff could put a little more attention to detail in the seating and restrooms. The food was okay, good enough to eat but not really enjoy. Not sure how this place has such good ratings, maybe the people around here dont have much to compare it to.

Loved this place! I was treated out doe dinner by my in laws and the food was great! They bring out your food (raw) and you cook it! The corn dish was so delicious! I recommend if you want to try something new. We had no clue what to order and the waitress was very sweet and had numerous suggestions and even guided us as to what all was in front of us! I will be sure to come back. I did not pay but i know the bill was over 100...but well worth it for a dining experience :)

The food was good, my waiter was awesome but I still have room to complain. The music was extremely loud and the party of 12 to our left were so obnoxious it sounded like a pool hall complete with someone dropping a beer and breaking glass. They were never approached and asked to keep it down even when they were shouting at the top of their lungs...The option to pay $6 for a to go box is cool and we opted to do just that. We had a party of 10 & split the bill in half. I was told there would be a $25 extra charge for a party of six or more. I agreed thinking thats just an additional $12.50 a piece but no, they charged us each $25 on two separate checks of of 5 people. So that was pretty scandalous. Yes we each still tipped because we know thats how they waiters and waitresses pay the bills but with the overall experience, I dont plan on going back again.

Overall a good visit. We did have a large group 11 total and unfortunately had to sit at 2 different tables 6 there and 5 here. To order you need a QR code to view your choices. The thing I didnt like was you had to keep your phone out to see what you were going to order next. A list of each sections choices on the booth wall would be nice. Not kid friendly unless your child is under 3 ft tall you have to pay full price no kid options, our party had 2 children, so you are expected to pay $30+ for children who dont usually eat that much anyways. Food was good and also service too. I would visit again .

Always have good cuts of meats. The marinaded options are so flavorful. Only complaint is that they changed the grill cook tops out too frequently. They would try to change it out after cooking half a round of meat (about 15 minutes) and then it would take another 5ish minutes to heat up and begin cooking again. It really seems like they try to take up the 2 hour time limit by frequently changing out the grill tops to waste time having to reheat the cooking surface so you dont have time to cook as much meat.
Theyre professional, food is great. But its up to the indivdual to pick the portions correctly. I can handle about 3~5 dishes tops. They even accepted my request of ramen noodles after i paid the bill.

The best Korean BBQ restaurant in San Diego North County! Unlike most of the all you can eat Korean BBQ restaurant who threw bulk of frozen meets, they select their meat with profections and marinated beef is spot on. All staffs are very friendly and go extra miles to make us feel happy here. Sonu BBQ does not need good reviews to attract customers but they are amazingly great and I can not help myself to express my satisfactions.
Loved the service and food. Waiter service was always fast and making sure you had something on your table at all time. The Kobe beef was fantastic and the enoki mushrooms wrapped in bacon is my new favorite at a Korean BBQ.
Seated fast, service good and staff attentive. Meats were good. The marinated spicy pork belly was a favorite. Other favorites were kimchi rice, bulgogi, prime steak and enoki mushrooms wrapped in bacon.
Amazing staff, they were all super nice. Very clean place, good meat cuts. The thin sliced pork belly was perfect thickness. I usually eat the meat with their salad (in one bite) to cut the grease. Ask for sliced garlic and toast it on the grill. Our favorite was the bacon wrapped mushroom! 🤤 We very much enjoyed our dinner. Will definitely be back and with more friends! Thank you!

It was a great experience overall. The price was reaspnable for all you can eat. Good quality meats and made to order kitchen items were tasty. The steam egg was good as well as the ramen.
Supper yummy Korean barbecue, with great selection of meats! We had a good time with friends cooking our meat. We had the short ribs, marinated steak and prime cut. Meat was extremely soft and tasty! We had steamed egg, rice paper, seaweed, corn with cheese. We had plenty of room (COVID times), tables are large/long and there is a button on each table to call the waiter. I dont think there were desserts, I tried a Korean beer/lager, very light and fresh. I dont remember the name but it was a taller bottle maybe a 750 ml. I was pleasant surprised, it was really good!
Every time I go there I get the meat sweats cause I cant help but eat as much food as I can. Waiters are way nicer than I deserve. Their beers remind me of Japan 👍
I always knew that this spot was a hot spot.So, when my relatives came down to visit from Northern California I wanted them to go home with what Oceanside had to offer. We got there around 8:30 and was seated right away. Food started coming and it was game over.Firstly, I want to apologize for the “F” bombs and apologize to the group next to us.But we had such a great time and food was so darn good we couldn’t hold back. First time here. Meat was great. Condiments were just ok, thus the 3 stars. Condiments make a huge difference to me in Korean food. It had to taste like home or at least be enjoyable, but I just couldnt enjoy them.
Very poor communication. The phone either doesnt work or there is never an answer. The Yelp waitlist system will cancel waitlists at times without warning or informing you, when it does you have to re-enter the new wait list at the back. I had been waiting for 2hours already and the new waitlist was already 2hrs long. This is not the place for someone who values their time. You are better off going to San Diego.Update:We were able to clear it up easily with the staff! The food was amazing and great quality! I would recommend trying it out but not the best place if time is valuable to you or if you are a planner.
Went here today for my dads birthday.The customer service was great! They had 3 servers going around to cater to customers needs. They have a few tents outside where the grills and tables are setup. I believe its only outside dining right now, in compliance with the states regulations during this pandemic. They also had music going on, which was a nice touch.Food was also great! Brisket, Marinated beef, Pork Belly, veggies, and soups were on point! I would recommend you try the Bacon Wrapped Enoki Mushrooms. That menu item was a delight! We opted for the $24.99 menu seelction. For $4.00 more, you could get the premium meats and seafood. We will try those next time.Overall, I would recommend this place!

Use to come here before they became Sonu. They were great then so I figured they were great again. Lady was super rude and had an attitude, we had to ask for a sides after being walked passed and other customers (after us) getting serviced before us. By the time we even got our sides, our meat was cold and had already been sitting there for 30 minutes.
It is good Korean BBQ but 1) it is expensive ($90 for 2 adults and 1 child) 2) they dont offer lettuce to wrap the meat with. If it were just a little less expensive and offered lettuce, this place would be great...

The quality of food and the incredibly attentive service make this possibly the best Korean BBQ I’ve ever been to, including restaurants in Korea. It was a wonderful experience and I can’t wait to come back.
For a KBBQ, its not that bad. Servers are kind and the meat is pretty good. The price is a little unreasonable though. Theres only two options and the cheapest have all these types of food in there that you aint going to order. Get this, if Im not mistaken their regular price per person is somewhere around $29. While KBBQ that I had in OC is around $18 and you can have at least 10 options of all you can eat meat. Yes like I said $29 that they offer have like about 20-30 food in there which includes non meat edibles such as Edamame and Rice.If they made like a 3rd tier option that contains all the meat that the mass population usually orders in a cheaper price, it would have been perfect.Meat quality is not the best. Its good but its not the best. You can taste that the quality is not as good as the ones I had in Orange County.
The food is not authentic. It is more like an imitation food. Side dishes were tasteless. They used cheap meat for Kalbi (short ribs); probably an inexpensive substitute. They didnt do right for Bulgogi either. Kimchi fried rice lacks flavor. Nothing was remotely tasty. Even with a low price, the experience was bad. Some five-star reviews may not be genuine because the overall rating is suspiciously high.
I’ve been here 10-15 times as I live close. I absolutely love this place! Amazing meat, always great service, and just a wonderful experience. I love being able to cook all the different meat how we like and the corn cheese and ramen are big hits with my family! Loveeeeeee 🥰🥰🥰🥰 can’t wait to to go again!
Would highly recommend this Korean/Japanese fusion BBQ restaurant. There is a wide selection of meat and various food options offered for a fairly cheap price (compared to many Korean bbq places I’ve been). The best part is the food is unlimited for one price! The staff was kind and attentive while the overall atmosphere was inviting. If you are looking for a date night or outing with friends this is the place to go!

Average Korean BBQ place. Mainly because I felt like most of the meat cuts were slightly inferior to what Ive had elsewhere. My favorites are brisket, rib eye, and beef tongue. Brisket here was grainy in texture and didnt have that intense beefy flavor I like. I didnt get rib eye but I did get kobe here which was really good. Unfortunately, beef tongue was a little tough. Also ordered garlic fingerlings and marinated short rib which both were underwhelming. Service was good, though.

Food was pretty good but definitely felt like they tried to take advantage at the end didn’t let us know in the beginning if we didn’t finish our food they would charge us 13 dollars till the end when we were about to leave. never coming again there’s better Korean bbq restaurants that don’t add this extra charge.
This was more like a traditional Jpanese BBQ than Korean BBQ- sweet as the dominant flavor. Grill everything yourself at the table style. No Galbi, but good selection of beef, chicken and seafood and veggies. Very sweet panchan (pickled radish, sweetest version of Kimchi Ive ever had, and Japanese seaweed salad). Nothing very spicy. Excellent Korean lettuce salad, my highlight. We were probably their cheapest customers of the day. 🙃 1.5hr wait...HIGHLY recommend you send a runner to put your party on a wait list. They text when ready, you can get there within 15min. Excellent service from all. Would return to try more on the menu, for $26/person AYCE its a great deal!

When Maru closed I was completely heartbroken, when I saw SONU had opened in its place, I immediately was wary and hoping it would come close, and I am happy to say that it was a wonderful experience.Meat is high quality and the service is excellent, I did have to ask for ponzu sauce as they dont serve it by default and its my favorite sauce to have with kbbq.The side dishes are main dish quality and I ordered some beef noodles expecting to get a small side, but I ended up getting a giant entree sized bowl. It was pretty tasty, but I couldnt finish it!I cant wait to go back!
Honestly.This is the second Korean BBQ Ive been to in California, and this one is head and shoulders above the first one.The food to be prepared seemed fresher- the people were on top of ours wants, even the condiments were good.Green tea was passable Id expected whisk and received my own tea pot full of a generic green teabag.I would reccomend anyone to try this place for the experience

The owner is non-korean (based on a waitress’s statement), who doesn’t know how to prepare korean foods. They put too much sugar in every item. Even kimchi (most basic korean dish) is sugar bomb. No wonder there is no korean customer in the restaurant. I (100% korean verified by 23-and-me DNA test) am pretty sure koreans would never come back to this place. Futher, the meat of marinated boneless short ribs doesn’t taste like that of short ribs. It appears that they use meat for “Jang Jo Rim” or something (in other words, cheap meat). So, if you just wanna be full with so so AYCE, try this place. If you are looking for a good Korean restaurant, don’t go.
We go here at least once a week. The workers are great and the food is wonderful. The price is worth the amount of food you get. Overall great experience we’ve had each time we go. Definitely recommend!
I would definitely recommend this place if you have a small party of people. The food was good and the service was fast, plus the pricing was reasonable so I am happy that this place is so close. My daughter and I will be back with no hesitation! Highly recommend the spicy pork belly and bulgogi (sliced marinated beef) with corn cheese and if you can drink dont miss the soju!!

We just tried Sonu BBQ. It was terrific. As good or better than Woo Lae Oak. Great food at a reasonable price. Everything was fresh, and it is all you can eat. It is like do it yourself habachi. You cook the veggies and meat yourself. Great for social dinners. The staff were very attentive and quick to provide the next round of morsels. We shall return!
This is a pretty good Korean bbq place... for North San Diego County. They probably wouldnt be in business long in Westminster. The meat quality is as good as what Im used to, but its by no means bad. Maybe I just got spoiled living in Orange County. Anyway, Sonu still has delicious food and it was really fun.

This place is wonderful!!!! The kimchi is not too spicy, the spicy beef soup is full of flavor, kimchi rice is so flavorful and almost non kimchi flavor, and the service is spectacular. This is my new favorite place to eat! A definite must try.
Food here is great. The options for the meats are really extensive and nice. The sides are good too. Altho the kimchi is kinda sweet which we didnt like but were picky and dont generally like the kimchi. Everything was really good.

Customer Service.I love the food there. But the reason I dont enjoy going is because one of the female waiters stares at my family and friends, the entire time we are there, just stood right in front of our table and watched us eat, and we once caught her talking to another worker while she pointed and laughed as we couldnt see. Called them to see about wait times and if we needed reservations. They said there was no wait and to come in. Showed up and we were 13th in line somehow. Still checked in because we figured there was some mistake. We left after the hostess said everyone checked in at once which sounds like BS. We were notified about 2 hours later our table was ready. What a joke.
I went there for the first time, the meat selection was decent, need to have poultry though and calamari, they didn’t have any lettuce leave and or perila leaves, and very few banchans, but still was a decent place to go to

Amazing food to make and eat. Also, great waiters and waitresses. The only problem is that you have to get there and be on the waiting list and wait for about an hour, depending on where you are on the list. So, I recommend that you get on the waiting list before arriving.

Just got down on some bomb korean bbq at SONU. Steak and bulgogi was on point as well as the cajun shrimp and all the sides. Dont forget the beef soup and use the liquid to grill with your food.
Ok spot. No complaints. Nothing mind blowing or unique about the experience though.

2023-12-08 16:40:26Nineteen people from the company went with me. The friendly service was good, and the price was low and unlimited refills, so everyone enjoyed it. The brisket and salad at this restaurant are delicious. And I grilled raw shrimp, which is quite fresh and large. The size of corn cheese is quite large. It was nice to grill mushrooms and pumpkins on the side together. I also recommend Korean beer. They were kind to me even though there were a lot of people, so I had a great meal time with my colleagues at work.

2023-12-04 01:57:18This place has a great atmosphere when you walk in and the customer service is amazing. They seated us extremely quickly and were very attentive to us. Whenever we ordered more meat it was brought to us very quickly and they even changed the grill for us twice in order to make sure we always had a fresh one ready. The music playing was definitely some great choices and it was not so loud that we could not hear each other speak so that was nice. I would definitely recommend this Korean BBQ to anyone that enjoys this type of experience and food.

2022-05-22 18:13:57I love Korean BBQ, they are one my go-to restaurant. This was the first time going to Sonus BBQ and me and my friend had an awesome time. We had to wait a couple of hours because we didn’t know about the reservations and when we got there, there was a lot of people on the waitlist, but I can tell you it was worth the wait. Everything about it was really nice. And the food was even great. I recommend to try out the macaroons ice-cream they have, it is delicious.

I fell inlove with the kimchi fried rice though, definitely recommend it🤤!! The Peach Soju is a must also! Our server was very friendly and he recommended a few meats ! Overall, everything was delicious And great ambience!진짜 맛있어요 !! 🤤🤤
