Great to have fresh, healthy food for a reason able price. I we were particularly impressed with the avocado salad, as well as how helpful and pleasant Karen was... definitely a star employee. The guy at the register was also friendly and upbeat.
So nice to have a good salad without having to cut and prepare everything yourself. They have a great selection of salad, soups, breads, pastas, deserts and more. Were vegetarian and trying to go vegan when we can and this place makes it so easy! Everything is labeled for you and there are options for all kinds of dietary restriction folk. :D The amt you get for the price cant be beat. Staff is friendly and the place is always clean.
We enjoyed going here for a school fundraiser having a separate room on the side of the main dining area.I really appreciated finding a gluten-free lemon muffin. I wish they had a non-dairy ice cream or sorbet for my son whos got a dairy allergy.Staff was very nice. Our dishes got cleared up pretty fast too.
This place is amazing!!! Not just a selection of fix-your-own salad stuff, but some excellent pre made options. The broccoli salad was very very good. Cheese bread, pasta, excellent soups.Im not from around here, but if I was I would live at this place! My mom and I had their lunch buffet with waters and it was just over 20$.I would recommend this place to anybody!
This is actual food made fresh! Salads are fresh and flavorful. Also, dont miss the rotating offerings like the Asian Ginger soup and the always offered but ever popular big chunk chicken noodle soup. Overall a great dining experience in a comfortable and cozy setting. 10/10 and would always reccomend!
A good chain buffet, with healthy and tasty options. Reasonably priced (especially with one of their plentiful coupon offers, or senior specials). Offerings across the healthy to tasty spectrum, including many that are varying degrees of both. Usually at least one gluten free offering in breads. Great family place.
Wow what a Great place with an attentive manager and staff. Sinai the waiter was very helpful. There was 6 of us ages 3 to 54 the place was packed and yet clean with a happy staff and good service the food was fresh and tasted good. Im impressed 😊 and thats not easy to do
Great food and courteous staff. My family and I eat here almost weekly. The salad bar is regularly cleaned and stocked fresh. The soup bar is always a winner especially if there is French Onion! The bussing staff will keep your table clean. Parking can be a challenge during peak times; look for on street parking when the lot is full.
The food here is delicious and the blueberry muffins are addicting . This location is particularly nice, the service is fantastic! And they keep it very clean. You cant tip at the register so bring cash.
The food here was good, but Im giving it 5 stars for its service. I walked in today with my 16 month old son. As soon as I picked up my tray, a gentleman, who was the manager, carried my tray over to the register so I could pay. Then, walked me over to an empty booth and immediately brought over a child seat. While eating, my son made a bit of a mess. I was beginning to pick it up when another staff member came over and helped clean it up. Everyone was extremely helpful, kind, and went above and beyond in their service.

Great place to have a nice healthy dinner. Typically theres about 3 pre made salads or you can build your own. Delicious soups served with my favorite being the clam chowder. Its more of an all you can eat buffet rather than an actual off the menu dinning. Definitely visit if you like to eat healthy.
This location doesn’t have as long/large a salad be as the location in Chula Vista, but still good. The interior is fairly spacious, and I’ve never had to wait for a table. It’s always clean, too.
We loved Sweet Tomatoes in Tucson, so were thrilled to see Souplantation here. Id had a pain having my coupon subscription reinstated but there manager too my info and less than 24 hours later I was contacted by someone in marketing letting me know they were taking care of it. We will be back. Often.
Great fresh food, havent had clam chowder in years and it was delicious. Would have rated 5 stars but parking is difficult. It took forever to find an open spot, theres just too much going on in the plaza.

Its always a good option at souplantation because there is something here for everyone. Although their are No protein dishes at all, you can always take a few chunks of chicken out of the chicken soup bowl and toss it on your salad, breads, or into your pasta and there you have it. Enjoy this place... You will feel full and good when you are done! Enjoy
I love eating here, I wish I could afford to do it more often. The coupons from the email newsletter help, though, and I usually go at lunch time. Its even better now that the milk machine is fixed, I love that ice cold glass of milk with my salad and muffin.

Well as far as All You Can Eat style restaurants go, Souplantation is my favorite. From the wonderful salad bar that even contain edemame to the awesome soups, you are always surrounded by fresh and homemade food.The chicken noodle is my favorite though.As far as this location goes, its small but not crowded. The parking lot however can be hard to find parking though. It shares parking with many other businesses.
Rest In Peace you beautiful memory filled restaurant. You always had Amazing food and an amazing supportive community of Hispanic staff that made me and my dad love going there. We became friends and even had inside jokes with them.
Worst experience EVER. It started when we walked in and went to grab plates and trays. I noticed the plate I grabbed was dirty, and went for another one...which was also dirty. As well looked, many, MANY plates were filthy-- and I dont mean like little water spots, I mean chunks of food stuck to the plates-- lettuce leaves, bits of pasta, mystery spots of sauce or dressing. We should have walked out right then, and I wish we had. I should have taken photos, it was a truly disgusting thing to see.After digging through the piles and finally finding a few clean plates, we went through the salad bar line. That went fine-- the food looked ok, certainly not special but not disgusting or anything.Once we made it to the cash register with plates full of food, we were told that the system was down and they would accept cash only. Now, thats not normally a problem-- a bit inconvenient, sure, but I understand that sometimes technology fails us. We managed to scrape together barely enough cash to pay, and the employee working the register did give us a discount-- but still, could someone not have taken 30 second to put a sign up on the door to let us know BEFORE we piled our plates with food? If we hadnt had any cash what would we be expected to do, go to the convenience store down the way and leave our food there while we pulled cash from the ATM?As for drinks, I ended up getting water because the iced tea was all gone, and every time I checked throughout the meal it sat un-refilled. At least I didnt have to pay for the drink due to the cash-only fiasco.We sat and began to eat. The food tasted fine, mostly, except the bread-- yes, the bread. It was undercooked and still sticky and doughy on the bottom. Seriously, how do you mess up BREAD? Not only that, but my friend commented that her olive oil didnt taste right-- I tasted it and it certainly tasted rancid. Eugh. My friend ended up feeling sick after we left and vomited all night-- all shed had was bread and olive oil, so Im sure either the rancid oil or filthy plates were to blame for her getting sick.Id give the experience zero stars if I could. Our visit was absolutely unacceptable. Will not be returning to this location ever again.
I love Souplantation but this location is pretty inconsistent. Occasionally they will run out of salads. They dont seem to use those salad timers they have at other locations, and the bowl will be less than a fifth full of soggy leftovers. The cornbreads and muffins are usually either under or over cooked. The company in general seems to be shifting away from pricier ingredients to reusing the same ingredients for different menu items (Taco Bell syndrome). I do like their food and when they are hitting on all cylinders the dining experience is as high as 4.5 stars, but on average is it is just average. Soft drinks are an expensive add-on, and the company does not offer as high value coupons as they used to.
The soups were so good and there are vegetarian options. They have unlimited soups and salads, pizza, ice cream, coffee.. I went on sunday with family and we were happy and satisfied. Also the employee there were very friendly and just nice energy all around
This Souplantation location is my favorite! Why? No waiting, no long lines, go right in, get your food and sit right down and enjoy! Tried the South Bay location...the line was out the door - it always is! Terrible! So do yourself a favor...go to any other location and youll be glad you did!
Loved the awsome salad that i created along with some creamy clam chowder with oyster crackers i also had a baked sweet potato with their signature honey infused butter washed it all down with real strawberry lemonade with a touch of Sierra mist for sparkles!!
Fantastic place for a make your own salad. Very good soups, generally5 or 6 selections. They usually have chili and chicken noodle. Good muffins also. They also have a pasta station.
Each location is a little different, and I like the salad toppings this one has. Id like more iced tea choices, but it isnt a deal breaker. One thing vegetarians/vegans need to watch out for are the soups: most are made with beef/chicken stock. Which is ironic, really.
So overall very much disliked the food here. Most of the foods I tried were bland. The soups that I tried were good. The salad options were okay but the slaw was bland and the potato salad had no good flavor. So unless you want soup or salad go somewhere else
The cream of mushroom soup is brown.I remember when it was a white creamy color. ( Like the clam chowder )And I found some kind of long thing in itand it wasnt a mushroom! 😬Its really to bad😷 Cause I use to love this place for over 35+ years!!!

The Soup Plantation on Mission Gorge is the best. The other locations arent tasty at all. Bland food is not what Im willing to pay for. Ill buy rice cakes if craving bland food. Its cheaper. Thanks Mission Gorge, Soup Plantation. I totally enjoyed my dinner.
Thought I would be sick after this place. This establishment isnt what it used to be. Cleanliness is a major concern let alone food that tastes like it comes out of cans. The staff is hard working.
It was perfect. Today my two favorites were on the menu. I tell you that strawberry lemonade really quenched my thirst. Enjoy if you go. I know I certainly did.
This is our favorite Souplantation. Its not the fanciest but it has the best staff in all of San Diego and we do go to all of the. Tio (I just asked his name after coming here for years) is one of the busser/servers and always has a friendly smile and makes us feel like we are coming into his own dining room. This location has one of the best food turnovers and cleanest salad bars we have seen. My kids are the number one Souplantation fans. My daughter who barely will eat anything requests SP at least twice a week. We recently moved to North County and we still make it to this location whenever we can! Thanks!

4 stars for: Clean location, friendly staff, 2 stars for: food taste and options. The CHICKEN AND RICE SOUP is not chicken and rice with NO CHICKEN. The potato salad had a can taste.

Souplantation is an affordably priced healthy buffet geared towards vegetarians. There are sparse amounts of meat spread throughout the buffet which consists of several sections: soups, pastas, desserts, and bakery/breads. In addition to the buffet there is an extensive salad bar when you first walk in where you can go back for seconds after you pay and find a table. The reason I am giving 4 stars rather than 5 is becuase I always eat way too much here. This is not a problem due to the resturaunt, but rather my fault.

The only two cons that I could find in this place after visiting multiple times to this place:-1) The food options (veggies) at the Mission Gorge road sou plantation are quite minimum, which is a big no no for me. I mean they dint have bell peppers. I walked out and went to DIFFERENT sou plantation which was 5 mins from my office. The other one not only had more veggies (including bell peppers) but also more salad dressing (they had my favo Roasted garlic).2) They ran out of crushed red pepper on two separate occasions. That was quite surprising.Its a little congested but I have been in much more congested restaurants. its well maintained for its foot traffic. But the lack of veggie on the table is a big NO NO

@douglas leclair, soft drinks are only like 2.29 which is actually pretty darn cheap for a modern restaurant! Most chain restaurants now charge 3.50-4 for soft drinks, plus souplation has an incredible selection...several teas, brewed coffees, homemade lemonade, sodas, milk, etc, better than you get in most places!

I love the blueberry muffins, the garlic cheese foccia, mac n cheese (w scallions, bacon, and cheese) the soup (chili mixed w clam chowder with scallions and cheese sometimes bacon) *yes i know im weird and the salad bar is great!

2019-09-06 03:50:30Did I mention I love Souplantation? All you can eat salad place (yes, you can go back for seconds in the salad line) with many options for vegans. Sometimes the soups are a miss, and the one in Mira Mesa doesn’t have plain soda water at the machine. They do need a vegan ice cream (sorbet?) but the veg club you sign up for is worth it. Birthday club too!

Five of us ate and made some great choices. I enjoyed the light salad I chose and everything filled us all up very nicely. Our server checked on us very often. She pre-bussed our table in a very thorough manner. She made sure we felt welcomed. Two adults, three children. We left full and with no complaints. Looking forward to the next time. I finished everything on my plate. I ate a spinach, green leaf salad with quinoa, green bell pepper, black olives, and some shredded parmesan, topped with balsamic vinegar and a baked sweet potato. It was FABULOUS! Dessert was tapioca pudding. Everyone else, enjoyed as much as they could eat.

Theres a great senior special and we are on their mailing list they send coupons its $20 for two, no soft drink just water. They have way more than salad. The soups are good and they have fresh breads and fresh pasta. Mac n cheese, always. The staff are really welcoming and clear away all your plates. Its customary to leave a buck or three on youre table when you leave. Its just a nice thing to do for someone so be cool leave them a dollar or two. Enjoy!

2018-06-15 18:25:57Great service! I went on 6/14/18 around 11am. I wish i wouldve gotten the mgr name and the cashier. Mgr was a Hispanic man and cashier appeared to me tall bi-racial girl. Im giving descriptions so they know Im talking about them. Nice, patient and friendly i love that. The food area was clean. All food was stocked. We didnt have to wait on anything. I will definitely be back!

2019-02-07 23:22:21This is by far my favorite Souplantation location. It’s also the cutest one since it’s the original and first ever. Lately I’ve noticed how much the employees care and acknowledge me as soon as I walk in and the food is always fresh and delicious! The feel and vibe of the Mission Gorge location is great I strongly recommend it. This place is never packed like most other locations in SD and you’ll always get awesome customer service!

2017-06-26 15:37:37Terrible food, better to buy soup from super market. Salad greens all looked wilted with browned edges. Not particularly cheap.
