I was surprised that my husband (doesnt necessarily love spicy food) chose Spicy City. We liked their Dandan noodles. Their pork and veggie dumplings were great and the sautéed garlic pea sprouts were perfect. Service was wonderful.

Extremely good Chinese food. Family style and their portion is big. My favorite is the Mapo Tofu… so yummy but I need to adjust the spiciness to mild 😬 The service is very fast and friendly. Highly recommended!

Meat quality here is below average or average at best. Chicken tastes stale and beef along with lamb used in their dishes was not so good but if you just want spicy this is the place. They should upgrade their chicken supplier to Jidori chicken for better and more fresh chicken. Lamb not so soft and chewy.

The Mini beef hot pot( 冒嫩牛肉）was the worst meat and experience I’ve ever had!!! Do not order this dish!The beef either expired for many days or the quality of the meat is just terrible. The moment I put it in my mouth, it felt so gross, couldn’t chew at all, not fresh, it didn’t even taste like beef, be honest! I have to through them all out! No wonder they buy 1 get 1 free, DO NOT buy this dish!!! I’ll never order from them ever again!!!

I won’t have to add any pictures. Just know that we eat out of this place at LEAST once a week (sometimes two times). Because of lack of time, we take it home to eat, but the atmosphere at the restaurant is cozy. It preserves a special kind of ‘family feel’ to it. Very important: they ALSO have NON-spicy dishes (good for kids!). Besides I love using my Chinese to communicate with everyone here. They are very friendly.

Braised pork with string beans came with steamed rice with tax was $17. I tip 5 bucks because thats how I roll solo LOL. It was delicious I arrived at 7 PM sat at a comfy booth. The string beans were fresh cooked to my liking with some crunch not mashed potato feel lol. The brown sauce was perfect for my taste zero soy sauce needed. Five stars for food, price, service, comfort. I did have to shut the door it was proped opened and freezing inside.

This restaurant is really really bad,the reasons are below.first,the waiters seem to be that I owe their money ;second,the waiters use to ran when they need to clean the table, I know there is only two waiters who need to do more things quickly .But they like the fly in front of your eyes,I went to enjoy dinner,not watching how busy there were.third,the food really hard to eat,drinking water should be better than eat their food,the most important thing is the ingredients are not fresh, and the meal is expensive,in fact,the price and quality are not proportional.

When I first found this place I was excited because I craved spicy Sichuan cuisine. I always order deliveries and they packed well. But the food was inconsistent. Sometimes it’s really good but the other time was not so good. I stop ordering from here all together because the last time my order MaoXueWang had so much pepper corn and it was so salty I could not eat it.

My noodles were spicy, but a wee bit monochromatic. I stole some peppers from my friends fish dish, and that made things much better. It has the numbness of schezwan peppercorns, but with fresh pepper flavor. I will order differently next time. The items from the cold bar were very good.

Last night, I went to this place with my wife. here is my review:Pros: price was somewhat reasonable but thats it as far as pros!Cons: 1.very slow service: only two slow operating waiter(ess)es for the whole restaurant of about 10 table with customers3. They brought the appetizer after the meals, even though I specifically asked them to bring it soon!2.Hot and Sour: although it taste good but my wife and I, both got sick after couple of hours since we both order that dish.3.Spicy beef soup: Im kind of a guy who each fresh raw chili with my food, so I dont mind the spice but this food was so spicy that it hurt my throat as soon as I had the first bite.When I complain the manager said next time ask for not spicy and that was not the answer I was looking for!! she took the bowl and bring it back almost like they added hot water to the bowl where the soup became tasteless.4.The potsticker look old and not really fresh and it taste mooshy.5. Overall the foods was over spiced and extremely oily and you wouldnt feel good after the meal.6.From the counter you could see the kitchen, it didnt look clean and organized in matter of quality.7.Ambiance: older construction and not been updated or remodeled, more look like a grocery store when they hang food pictures in the wall!

I know what youre thinking. Its called Spicy City, but it probably doesnt live up to the hype of being spicy, or the old Ive had spicier food.This place is spicy. Hot. On fire.This place specializes in Szechuan-style dishes. On top of having pretty good dishes to begin with, even looking at the dishes will make your taste buds hurt.I came here with a friend a while ago, and we both love spicy food. We can handle it and we love the kick. Okay, we go in and it looks like your normal Chinese restaurant with those big round tables and smaller tables for smaller parties. All of their food is, and can, be made spicy.We order the fried rice (very spicy) and the kung pao chicken (also asked to be made very spicy). They did not disappoint. Each dish came out and looked to have about enough spice to kill an army. Flakes of fresh dried red chilis and the chilis themselves made a delicious flavor with a lot of spice. Same went for the chicken. Spicy. Extremely spicy. We couldnt even finish a normal amount of food for our dinner because it was just too unbearable.As for the quality of the food, it was great. Spiciness? Definitely one of the spiciest places Ive ever eaten at.

Loved by rice cookers, the pickled beans with minced meat and mapo tofu are very delicious. Because there are not many people at noon, the food is served very quickly. The first time I ordered a mapo tofu from lunch specials, the clerk forgot to give me rice. (lunch specials include rice). The second time I ordered Kung Pao Chicken, the proprietress generously decided to compensate me by giving me an extra serving of rice (that is, eating Kung Pao Chicken with two servings of rice). I recalled the feeling of eating mapo tofu without rice, but I didnt accept it. The proprietress generously decided to compensate me by refunding me $1. I calculated the value of the half portion of mapo tofu I threw away, but didnt accept it. In the end, the proprietress gave me a small box of small dishes, which to some extent made up for the bad experience of eating mapo tofu last time. Giving 5 stars because the taste is really good.

I rarely eat Chinese food that satisfies me in Irvine, including some of the more popular ones online. This one is my top one. The first time I ate rice noodles, I thought it tasted good, so I kept coming back to eat it. I haven’t had any trouble so far.
