Had to come here as the place is very popular on Google. The place is small but cozy. I would like it better if they had booths, but I can deal without from time to time. The service was amazing. Cara was our server and she did an amazing job! But it looks like the other servers do a great job too. The food was good as well. Will be coming back to try out the lunch menu soon.

Was told not a long wait and seated 45 minutes later. Then waited another 25 to order. Drinks tasted off and watered down while being told it was coke products. The waiter seemed inconvenienced by having to wait on us and had very unfriendly attitude for someone Ive never met.she also filled up our cups with other cups which seemed super questionable, especially since we saw her using pitchers for other people. I got chicken fried steak with eggs and it was covered in gravy which if thats your thing more power to you but half the meal was gravy. Nothing else really had a taste to it even after Ketchup, salt and pepper. Its not the cooks fault its the quality of food and they way they are forced to cook it.the little cut up pieces of sausage was just insulting for what is normally cooked into the gravy to give it flavor. No flavor. It was just plain out of a can gravy. So all in all it was an awful way to spend 2 hours and 50 bucks for 2 people. 8 dollars for 2 cokes is crazy. We drank maybe 1 liter of coke between the both of us and it was watered down for 8 bucks. If you go order water or take your own drink.

Upon entering there was no wait, me and my fiance were asked if it was for two and it was so we were immediately seated. Our waitress was friendly and respectful and attended us to our needs. I asked for the most fresh and popular item on the menu and she replied without hesitation as you can see in the photos. The food was delicious and very filling, and you wont leave unhappy. The feeling of this cafe is very comfortable and relaxing. Seating is a bit tight but is to be expected from the flow of traffic the cafe receives. Overall a must go if you are ever in apple valley from the hours of 7am yo 2pm.

Delicious and satisfying Homestyle meals. I strongly recommend this place. My personal pick is the perfect portion breakfast. I did it with biscuits and gravy on the side that are absolutely amazing. The service is hens down extremely hospitable. I noticed that the servers never let your coffee go empty. On point. Thank you very much to Priscilla for a wonderful time.

Large portions and fresh food. The staff at Spirit River really work hard to make sure you have a great experience there. Fast, friendly service and good prices. My husband and I plus our son and his wife recently had breakfast at this cafe. We have eaten here several times before and had always founds our dining experience good. However as we always had in the past split and omelette between each couple as a 3 egg omelette is too much for one person. When we received our bill we discovered that we were charged $3.95 for each extra plate for splitting our meal. It was never told to us there would be an additional charge for sharing our meal. While I understand inflation and prices have risen, an almost $4 dollar charge for an extra plate is totally unreasonable and we will not be going back to the cafe in the future. For two couples sharing each an $15.95 omelette plus drinks it cost us $51.40…..

Loved the food here. It was homestyle, warm and delicious!! The service was quick and very friendly. They fill up quickly so you have to get there early for a seat and their early bird specials 6-8 a.m.I ordered the Vera Cruz omelette that has egg whites, pepper jack cheese and green chilies, yum! My sister ordered the Garden Skillet with sweet potato fries instead of homefries, double yum!! Come on down to the Spirit River Cafe your stomach will thank you!

Theres usually a wait, but always worth it. Went again on Sunday 8/7. Its not on the menu, so you have to ask for it; their Monte Cristo is one of the best Ive ever had. Ive been here several times and always take my family. Ive recommended this place to almost everyone I know. Two different families that I recommended told me they felt unwelcomed there. I didnt think much of it. However, I recently went there with my family. While we were still eating a waitress just came to our table picked up our dishes and said you guys are done here right and walked off with almost full dishes. Didnt ask if we needed a to go box or anything. We were kind of in shock. I still left a decent tip because I normally dont judge an entire business/staff by one persons action. But considering what others I recommend to this place have experienced, the fact that this was not done to any tables around us and empty tables still available in the restaurant I have to ask myself if this was because I didnt blend in with the crowd? I really hope this isnt the case and the Spirit River Cafe do whats right to remain a gem in the HD. This place has great food and make a decent Bloody Mary.

Great food. We had a 20-minute wait but worth it. They accommodated my 4 kids and were patient with us. Country fried chicken, biscuits and gravy, eggs, grits, fruit, and waffles were great! The corned beef hash was not my cup of tea but Im from the south. Good service, sweet staff. Highly recommend if you are in the area. Again, just know there will be a wait unless you can fit in the bar area!! Enjoy!! Such a great breakfast!!! Loved it!!!

My mom and I were looking for a nice country style Cafe that had a home feel.. we found it spot on at the spirit River Cafe. The food was amazing and the staff made you feel at home. I drive down to Apple Valley from Carson City a few times a year to visit my elderly father and this restaurant is always on my must visit list. The service is excellent and the food is fantastic. I always get the combo omelet which is like a meat lovers omelet and it always leaves me full and my taste buds satisfied. My dad eats here around 2-3 times a week and always has a great meal. I cant wait to visit again.

After breakfast, I could see why that would be the case.We were visiting family for the weekend and I completely forgot to take pictures but let me tell you - there was more than enough food. While on a 3000 mile trip, discovered this hidden gem. Its just a mile or so off the interstate but worth it. By far the best service and the best food on our trip. The breakfast is unbelievable, from the huge pancakes on the kids menu, to the biscuits and gravy, steak and eggs, everything was delicious and plentiful. The cinnamon roll pecan french toast was amazing. The wait staff was attentive, helpful and friendly. I wish we had a place like this near home.

This is our place! We love the food, the service, the servers are all super friendly and fast! Even when they tell you the wait might be 10-15 minutes you get in sooner than that! My wife had the Dijon melt with sweet potato fries and absolutely loves it and highly recommends it.I had the Chicken fried steak skillet with with over easy eggs and rye toast. The whole meal was great but I have to give an extra shout out to that rye toast. I know with a meal like this the toast is supposed to be an after thought but it was very good.Coffee seemed better than average for a Cafe, and I would highly recommend and would love to return and try other menu items.

Normally, this is a five-star place. Today was a disappointment. We were sat next to the toilets which we didnt want. I think we annoyed the staff by asking to move to a different table We were then ignored for a good 10-15 minutes. A regular bloody Mary was requested and one that was delivered was extremely spicy. Our new waitress didnt apologize just grabbed it and left and didnt offer to remake it in a better way. Our food took a while to get to us and while it was hot and pretty good that was the best part which was mediocre. There was no finesse, no cute quaint enthusiasm for us being there. Not sure well ever go back honestly. The five or six other times weve been here its been very good. Very disappointed today. 3 stars were given because the portions were very good.

Ive been to this place a few times service and the staff are amazing and the food especially the banana bread is great. I decided to take my husband last week and out of all days the quality was not there. The coffee cup that was given to my husband had dry pancake mix on it, then they serve our food and my daughters plate was also dirty with dry cheese on it. Dishes were dirty!! And we were a little disgusted.....needless to say hubby said never again. I may give them another shot maybe their dishwasher called off that day.

One of High Deserts well-kept secrets. Instead of small portions of substandard food as we have sadly come to expect form the large chain restaurants, Spirit River serves large portions of delicious food. This is a hidden place that I absolutely love. I don’t like to tell too many people about it because it’s my little kept secret but I still do. One of the best joints in Apple Valley! As if this review they are open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch. They are located in the plaza at the corner of AV Rd. and Hwy 18. They are in the plaza with the statue of Roy Rogers horse Trigger out front. As a side not this horse sculpture is huge and can be seen AV Road as your landmark of where to find Spirit River. This is the original sculpture from the Roy Rogers museum. It is my understanding someone was offended by the horses sculpted anatomy and it was removed prior to displaying it here. There was a newspaper article about this not too long ago. Lol.Seating is a bit limited but they have outdoor seating with heaters as well. Service and the food as been always great for our family.One of our favorites is the chicken fried steak meal. It is absolutely large in size and enough for two people! The gravy is also delicious and we usually get the gravy on the side. You have your choice of country potatoes or hash browns, eggs, toast or biscuits and gravy. The gravy also comes with large slices of sausage which also adds to the flavor.Be prepared to wait during breakfast time, but even then its not too bad unless you are a very large party. I believe there are no reservations so first come first serve.Staff is always nice and friendly. They accept credit card, cash etc. I dont believe Apple Pay but could be wrong.I would recommend this place in a heartbeat.I support Apple Valley businesses who show integrity and great service! Support our town!

The staff are super helpful and very friendly. The food.... the food is just perfect, cant get a better taste of home cooked if you tried. All the dishes Ive had were jaw dropping amazing - friends and coworkers shared the views of their dishes. Price is a little high but for the food you get, its worth every penny. Weve been here several times and plan on continuing. Do realize there can be a wait - but highly recommended.

I recently went here for breakfast. First the good, the food portions are large and everything is freshly made. The servers are friendly and do their best to take care of their customers despite how busy they are.The less then good (not really bad), on this day my potatoes were cooked incorrectly and the eggs benedict used a slab of ham instead of Canadian bacon slices. The flavor was really darned good though. The prices seem slightly high compared to similar locations, but overall you cant go wrong. I plan on eating there more despite my last experience.

Hidden away, Spirit river is a gem to find. The owner and waitresses are really great, as are the cooks. You might have a wait of 30 minutes, its worth it. They have patio dining also, umbrella covered tables. All of their plates are reasonable, and always served fresh. You will take food home, or you can share your plate. No extra plate charge. THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS. They are open 7am to 2pm 7, open daily. Look for a large horse (Roy Rogers Trigger), take a left by Trigger. Enjoy.

One sometimes has to walk to the back of the restaurant to get past the center row and sit at an open table by the wall.That is my only criticism.The portions are HUGE. Seriously. It takes two large plates to serve ham steak and eggs. The toast comes on a third. Its good. So are the steak and eggs, and the omelettes. My wife claims they have the best oatmeal in town.And we enjoy the wait staff. I really like this place a lot, mostly for its outdoor dining. The indoor dining feels very claustrophobic and noisy to me but I really enjoy being outside on nice days and dining al fresco. They have a fairly wide and varied menu for both breakfast and lunch. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. They give a 20% senior and military discount on their lunch entrees which I really appreciate being a senior citizen. Our waitress was fantastic today. Everyone enjoyed their meal but because the food is so plentiful, everyone went home with doggie bags. This is a really great place if you want to dine with your dog and sit outside.
