A small restaurant we visited spontaneously for dinner this evening. We are from New Zealand 🇳🇿 Very friendly and welcoming service, we are leaving full and happy. Decor and general atmosphere is quite dark and untidy but with the warm service and delicious food, I didnt mind. My friend mentioned her dish was nice but a little on the salty side (seafood). Complimentary warm bread to start and complimentary desert to finish. Thank you very much!

We found this little gem at the end of our California vacation and it was perfect. The owner gave us recommendations that were out of this world delicious. The salmon was perfectly cooked. Best Carbonara ever. We were made to feel like family! Make sure to visit!!

Spumoni holds an important place in my life. My wife and I have been going for every important milestone in our life since weve been dating. Now, married and with our first child, the food and service at Spumoni is every bit as high quality and incredible as the first time we set foot through their doors. The food is immaculate, the atmosphere is lovely, and the service is second to none. You truly cannot have a bad experience here, and I would recommend this diamond of an eatery to anyone who enjoys good Italian cuisine.

My boyfriend and I had a great experience here! We felt so welcomed and the place had such a down to earth feel, especially when compared to the restaurants nearby on Ventura. The service was exceptional and the food was delicious! We had two of the gnocchi dishes. The gnocchi was homemade and super tasty. The portions were very big so we each took home a second meal in leftovers. We were also overjoyed when we were given a delicious tiramisu at the end of our meal. It’s definitely worth a visit for exceptional Italian food & a wonderful dining experience at a very reasonable price.

The owner/manager was charming and super nice. But the food was lacking. I really wanted to love it all but it just didnt hit. The risotta was dry and crunchy, the lasagna was super watery and the gnocchi was decent. The free tiramisu was very dry.

First and foremost, I would like to begin this review by saying how impressed we were with the food, service was impeccable. It was the best Italian food we’ve yet to devour. Ambiance was perfect, string lights, soft tone with a touch of Italy. Vasek, was an absolute pleasure, he went above and beyond to ensure we had a lovely first time experience. AMAZING!!The owner has such a beautiful soul!We sat down and within 2 mins he was at our table giving recommendations and telling us and I quote “if you’re craving something and don’t see it on the menu tell me, will make it. Spumoni Restaurant is authentic! The atmosphere here is like visiting your grandparents home, a nostalgia for a past era. Super family-oriented! The prices were very good and surprisingly two dinner plates, house bread appetizer, and house dessert were under $54.00, for a party of two! What a great place! The wonderful feature of Spumoni Restaurant is the staff and business owner. The employees here really make you feel comfortable and very important. If your plate isnt listed on the menu, the house chef can create your own personal inspired taste of Italy entrée. The dress code is great for families too! My sister and I dressed casually and we were treated with kindness! Credit card is accepted, but because it is a small business cash is always preferable so that the business doesnt get charged with a fee for using the credit card machine. The restaurant is small and only has one restroom for each gender Male/Female. Parking is free by the rear of the restaurant. On the weekend, after 5:00 p.m., we parked in the Wells Fargo parking lot. Overall, I am very happy that my sister and I dined in at Spumoni Restaurant. We will be returning here to dine-in again.

The food was very generous and so delicious and the host or first server was charming and so attentive to our needs. This little gem is more than a dot on the map!! The feeling you get when you walk in feels like your amongst close family and friends!! The food we ordered started out as one order was brought out in seperate orders, and it’s those small gestures between owners and patrons that leaves such an impression, you know you will continue returning. Im from Dallas Tx and my friend and I found this place by accident. We were looking for a food spot and came across this amazing little Italian place. As soon as I went in, I was greeted with nothing but smiles! The owner and waiter joke and talked to us like we are family. What everyone said is true.. now on to the food. It is amazing!! They help me pick a wine that went so good with what I had and I cant be more full and happy. This is the best place I been to since my time here in LA. I can not wait to visit California again to come back to Spumoni. If my friends ask me of any good eats, I will definitely recommend this.

A really great restaurant! My partner and I ordered a take out a few days ago, and now its my favorite Italian restaurant! The service is exceptional, very clear and pleasant communication on a phone and in person. Food is fantastic! Seafood pasta is FULL of seafood and portions are huge! Great service and the atmosphere is delightfully cozy. We both got two different types of gnocchi and it’s AMAZING. Best gnocchi I’ve had in a long time. Our water glasses were never empty and the wait staff was extremely attentive and kind. They even brought us a piece of tiramisu at the end of our meal, which was a pleasant surprise. This place rules. I absolutely loved this place. We were greeted so warmly when we got there and got sat right away. This spot isnt huge, its a bit more intimate. They brought us bread and this delicious olive spread. The wine selection isnt too vast but the food OMG!! I had a pink pasta with salmon and it was so incredible. My friend ordered the chicken parm and that was really good as well. Authentic Italian. I got the pesto linguini (very creamy, rich, thick sauce) which was tasty but too much richness for my palate. My spouse got the spaghetti bolognese and we both loved it. Don’t let the outdated decor and small seating area fool you. From the moment we walked in we were greeted so kindly and they took care of us the whole time. Everything from the bread and olive spread to the salad to the main course was amazing. I really can’t say enough about our experience. And best thing of all was the inexpensive check. Amazing. I had the Pollo limone, Chicken on a bed of mushroom risotto. Delicious. They even gave us a piece of tiramisu for free and then wrapped up our leftovers and included two more pieces of tiramisu. He seems like he really loves his restaurant and his customers, which is hard to come by. I had the boccaccio, which was gnocchi (which they make in-house), chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, and broccoli in a pesto cream sauce. It was REALLY good and everyone else in my party really enjoyed their meals. Everything taste incredibly fresh. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I will DEFINITELY be back!

I’ve been craving pasta for a while and this place hit the spot and beyond. I ordered pickup and I was greeted by who I believe is the owner. Whoever he was, he was the nicest host. He opened the door and pulled out a chair for me as I waited for my fresh meal to be bagged. He even hooked it up with a free dessert. I had family visiting from abroad and they particularly wanted to experience some authentic Italian food. I do not have much experience with Italian food, but after googling some recipes and running through some Yelp reviews I stumbled upon Spumoni. I ran the menu by my young cousins and aunt and we were excited to try out the place.Upon arriving the staff was very welcoming and inviting. There were extraordinarily accomating and very patient with me and my family, even though some of them did not speak any English. They predicted our needs superbly, as we had intended to share our dishes. The food was rich in flavor and the spaghetti bolognese was fantastic. And it was pretty much the same. The two other dishes were chicken picatta and some kind of cream pasta dish. These two also tasted just okay.Anyways, I dont know what all the good reviews were really about. This place probably did taste good at one point in time, but just not when I paid them a visit recently. Its sad to say that Studio City/Sherman Oaks dont really have any really great Italian food. Areas in West Hollywood and Brentwood still reign surpreme in this cuisine.Other than the food, the service was fairly good. My fave dish is Penne Paesana which is always prepared beyond perfection: rich, creamy, cheesy - just thinking about it brings tears of joy to my eyes - and a couple of extra inches to my waistline.The owner is an absolute sweetheart - greeting and treating you as if youre family. The rest of the staff can be a little hit and miss Im afraid. But take heart, a free tiramisu dessert is almost always guaranteed for your troubles!I used to go often, then moved away from the area and stopped for the longest time - but a recent visit reminded me of how much I love this place. Yes its a tiny, not entirely comfortable space - usually a no-no for me, but I love Italian food so am willing to overlook this inconvenience (very big of me, I know) - but obviously its not too suitable for big groups, although they will do their best to accommodate.Parking is rather limited too, but I have never been anything other than completely happy with my visits, and lets face it, that is a minor miracle in itself!

Weve been walking or driving by Spumoni what seems like our entire lives and decided to give it a try because their website menu goes the extra mile by displaying separate vegan and vegetarian options. The staff couldnt have been friendlier...giant smiles and humor from the moment we walked in to when we left. We wish the food was as good as the smiles we got.The place is indeed cozy and looks like it, at one point, had been updated, but feels a bit like it may need another interior design update...or maybe thats part of the charm, the old-school Italian joint, serving classic Italian dishes, by an Italian family. I can live with it.I had the Penne Caprino which (from their menu) is small tube pasta with sun-dried tomatoes, goat cheese, and garlic in a light cream sauce. The dish was much richer than I would have expected from a light cream sauce. It was light on the sun-dried tomatoes, and if it had goat cheese in it, it was lost in the light cream sauce. Too rich for me this evening.They offer a nightly gluten-free pasta option. My wife ordered the primavera with this option...the vegetables were fresh and the gluten free pasta was perfectly cooked, (which if youre a gluten-free-er, you know is hard to do) but the sauce tasted like just tomatoes with not much seasoning or anything else in it.We also ordered a plate of plain spaghetti with no butter or oil for our child who just about eats only that. It came out with oil, so order not correct, but luckily our kid enjoyed it anyway. Very reasonably priced for a generous kids serving of pasta.At the end we were brought vanilla ice cream with a little bit of chocolate sauce on it. We hadnt ordered this and thought it was very cool that everyone seems to get a free dessert...(Another table was brought a tiramisu.) The ice cream wasnt great though...that kind of generic vanilla ice cream restaurants get in large tubs. Tasted a little stale too. If youre called spumoni and youre doling out free dessert...shouldnt it be spumoni? (Or give folks a choice...that tiramisu at the other table looked pretty good.)I think wed give it another try, order some different dishes, if only for the fact that its a local place that could use support, and mainly because the staff seemed so incredibly accommodating and friendly.
