Best hostel Ive stayed at. Nice and laid back. Comfy beds that are private with a few nice chill out lounges and a rood top with ocean views. Dave is a top human being who is always happy to help. Also right next to the beach. Highly recommend

Very modern, clean, comfortable beds and affordable.Camilla and Dave explained everything well before checkin and accommodated my delayed flight and late check out seamlessly.I can not recommend this place any higher.I will definitely be staying here again next time I visit LA.
Quiet and beautiful place on LA Venice beach, with single pod, Secured storage, kitchen area, and amazing view! As someone who has never used a hostel before and is against multiple stays and using common areas, I loved it here. Its also great that they offer bicycle! Thanks for all support.
I had a great time in Stay Open Venice Beach, I was there for 2 weeks and the location is perfect. 5 min walk away from muscle beach, you cant be nearer to the beach :) The pods ar also pretty cool with charging spots, lights, doors… a lot of privacy if you want it. Stay Open got everything you need and it was clean all the time. Camilla and Dave are such nice people, they doing everything perfect. I also made new friends. I really love this place 10/10
I had a truly wonderful time at Stay Open. I was there for 3 nights with my friend and it was perfect. It felt like we found an absolute gem. The location is sweet, youre right on the beach, stunning views, lots to see. The space is calm, inviting, clean, and the pods are super comfortable and cozy. Gotta give it to our host David who was really welcoming, knowledgeable, and just an overall great dude. We had some good laughs and he gave us some great recommendations for activities and things to do around Venice. The other guests were really kind and respectful as well. I would 100% stay here again and would highly recommend it if you are travelling for work or for fun. Had a magical time.
The best place to stay in Venice! Camila and David are the best, trying to help in whatever you need. I dont speak perfect English and they did everything they could to make me feel comfortable so I could communicate or join their activities. The apartment is a world apart, as an architect I got the place I expected and much more! Well decorated, chilling and warming. The pods are very comfortable, the space is the cleanest Ive ever been, the rooftop has amazing views, and the kitchen is a big point! But the thing I loved the most is the silence, chill and peacefull ambient. Love it, love it, love it! Cant wait for you to expand to another cities! I would definetly come back!
Absolutely loved my stay here! The location was amazing and the staff were super helpful and welcoming. It was my first time staying in a hostel so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It exceeded my expectations! I felt extremely safe. One of the male guests made my friend and I feel uncomfortable, and Dave handled the situation perfectly. Stay Open clearly values guest safety and comfort. Highly recommend!
Ive stayed at a lot of hostels all over the world. This is one of the best hostels, it might even be the best. It is definitely not cheap, but everything is nice. From the living space to the pod bed to the kitchen and coworking stations, every thing is top notch. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is willing to spend a bit more for a premium hostel experience.
Loved my stay here. Amazing location, right on the beach and a beautiful space. Really modern and lots of areas to relax, chill and work. Free bike hire was a nice bonus. Special shout out to Beatriz for making my stay so special.

I really enjoyed staying here. I wasn’t sure at first, but for where it was and what it cost I figured why not give it a try. I’ll very likely stay here again, and would definitely recommend to single travelers. I’m sure it would be ok for couples as well, but there aren’t any big beds. Lots of open space and a great rooftop area with an unobstructed view of the beach and the beach front walk.
Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It felt like you were living in a big house with a group of friends. There were even workstations with widescreen displays and height adjustable desks which were great for working with your laptop.
Awesome host and amenities; very laid back environment. Close to everything in Venice beach and accessible to Santa Monica. Sunset views made for dreamy evenings.
Highly recommend Stay Open. I had such a lovely two night stay in this tranquil space. The view, rooftop, and location are fantastic. I loved being so close to the beach with gorgeous sunset views from inside and on the rooftop.Stay Open is a beautifully and thoughtfully designed space. The pod was comfortable with great linens, light and outlets. I also appreciate the co-working space which also included a phone booth which was helpful for me for meetings.I really appreciate the flexibility and understanding because my arrival time shifted a few times due to weather and traffic. I would definitely stay at Stay Open again and I look forward to returning one day.
*WARNING* *WARNING*I am currently in legal proceedings due to a serious misconduct event against the Operations Manager (David Draffin) at this hotel. I was subjected to harassment and threatening behavior by the Operations Manager which validated a 911 police call by myself.After traveling for 10 years, I never had such a hostile encounter with completely ignorant behavior.Be warned, the management of this business is completely toxic.
Fantastic capsule style hostel! Very clean! Easy to access and excellent location. Staff were great. As a solo female traveler, I felt very safe. They have some wonderful lounge areas, including a rooftop section. They also have beach towels and bikes to use. There are multiple bathrooms and theyre all clean. The capsules were super comfy and cozy. Highly recommend! Would stay again.

The highlight of the hostel is undoubtedly the breathtaking sunset views that can be enjoyed from the common area, which provides a perfect setting to unwind and relax after a day of exploring the vibrant Venice Beach.The hostel itself is impeccably clean, with a well-maintained and inviting ambiance that sets the tone for a comfortable stay. The rooms are tidy and cozy, with ample storage space, comfortable beds, and staff is very friendly. I have visited LA many times, and in terms of accommodations, this was by far my favorite experience (even better than a hotel). The hospitality from the host was incredible - he went out of his way to be extremely welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. 10/10 would recommend, and I will certainly be returning.
I just return home to midwest with a week long stay at the Stay Open. I’ve been traveling around the world and this place is one of the best. Wonderful hosts, Dave you are the best. Appreciate morning coffee and hospitality. Next to the beach and easy access to everything needed, with open space and warm people. Amazing views. Amazing place. Just honestly one of the best parts of my trip. Got to meet some other travelers who are friendly but everyone is mindful and will give you your space. The house is big enough for everyone to spread out. Dave is a supreme superhero of a human being. I extended my stay after the first night and I will definitely be back the next time Im in the area.
I stayed at Stay Open for two nights, it was my first time in America. Communication from the hotel was amazing, I was made to feel very welcome upon arrival. The pods are so lovely, clean and comfortable. Other guests very respectful, quiet and friendly. All communal spaces were very clean, well looked after and the rooftop is great for people watching and sunset views. I would recommend Stay Open to all solo travellers looking to see what Venice has to offer and for anyone wanting to work remotely! I’m really looking forward to my next stay!
Had a fantastic 2-night stay in the heart of Venice Beach. Stay Open had all the fun things you expect at a hostel with the comforts of a very nice hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful and went beyond what is expected of them. The views from the common area and the roof are stunning! You’ll definitely enjoy your stay here.
I couldnt recommend STAY OPEN in Venice Beach enough! I had a last minute trip change, and whilst looking for reasonably priced accommodation, I found STAY OPEN. This place was honestly incredible. The hostel is only 10 beds, which made it really intimate where you could mingle with the other guests easily. The facilities were phenomenal, and the location was perfectly situated in Venice right on the beach. It was only a short stroll to food, bars and everything Santa Monica has to offer.Being a solo traveller and it also being my first time in the US, I was a little nervous upon arriving late at night. Once I found the entrance, I was greeted by Dave the hostel manager, which made the absolute world of difference. Dave was so incredibly welcoming, going through a thorough tour of the building as well as being there to honestly answer any questions I had. He was super approachable throughout my stay, making me feel comfortable immediately.If you are a solo traveller, I wouldnt hesitate to stay here. I booked for 3 nights, but I honestly wish I was there for longer to enjoy everything the area had to offer.Thank you again to STAY OPEN and to Dave for making my trip one to remember!
Fantastic place to stay when traveling solo! Very comfortable. The staff was AMAZING! Nice to be able to chat and hangout with others, but theres also plenty of room if you want some alone time. My pod was quite comfy! Would 100% stay with them again!

This was a great stay! I booked this spot for one night to attend a concert and the location was great. The pods were very cozy and gives a sense of privacy compared to other hostels. I also appreciated the hooks and charging ports inside the pods. The other tenants and the owner were very fun to talk to! It definitely feels more like a community here. Meeting travelers from other countries also added to the quality of my stay. I ultimately ended up paying the small extra fee to check out later because the convenience of storing my bags somewhere as well as not needing to use the public beach bathrooms was superior to the fee. I will definitely be coming back in the future for a longer stay! I look forward to participating in the yoga and exercise opportunities offered.Check in/Check out:Check in was easy. If you cannot get inside because your mobile key doesnt download until the exact time, there is a doorbell you can ring. The stay was nicer than I expected so I ended up extending my stay to check out later in the day. Checking out was easy since the key is mobile and expires upon check out.Quality:Everything was clean and organized. The linens were set up for me prior to arrival and the fact that there are multiple restrooms on the premise is reassuring. There are lots of storage options and one locked storage for safekeeping of valuables.Location:The location is great! Stay Open has bikes you can use to get around and there is a bike path that leads to the Santa Monica pier for easy access. I think the pleasant bike rides really adds to the quality of the stay and location! I ended up biking into the city as well and did some shopping in Santa Monica and on Abbot Kinney. There are some homeless folks around but theyre practically harmless and if you take a bike you can avoid them and the crowd of people as well.Food:Theres a ton of restaurants and shops nearby. You can stop by the local grocery to bring back to Stay Open and store them in the fridge and pantry.Overall amazing stay!
Loved my short stay at Stay Open. Checkin/arrival was easy and I was in constant communication with the guys, so I didn’t feel any anxiety staying with them. The vibe is super relaxed. The place is awesome. Everything is clean and tidy and the few people I met there were just cool. I shall return!
Had a fantastic stay here. The best hostel experience Ive had so far, especially as a digital nomad working during the weekdays. The space had tons of natural light, was incredibly clean, quiet in the evenings and the pods were very comfortable. David and Olga were very friendly and one of them was always available to help if needed. Cant beat the location either.
Best place I’ve stayed at hands down. Pods were really comfortable and the whole place was super clean. The whole Stay Open team were incredibly welcoming and make the space feel like your own. I made a lot of new friends, Stay Open provided such an awesome environment to connect and meet other travellers (up to you how much you want to connect). Great working space too and a sound proof booth to take any online meeting calls. Location was amazing, only a few steps from the beach, 15min bicycle ride (they provide 2 bicycles) to the Santa Monica pier and close Uber ride to the LAX airport. Most lovely stay! Such a beautiful place and the people where so nice and welcoming. Super clean and lots of space even a designated workspace. Modern big kitchen. It’s right next to the beach. Rooftop terrace for sunset and super comfy pods. Met awesome fellow travelers and felt at home the moment I arrived. Thanks to Andy, Jelena and especially Lauren and David! Would 100% recommend it. I absolutely loved it! I stayed longer than expected because I felt so comfortable here. One of my favourite hostels so far.
I thought this place was awesome, but its not for everyone. It is a shared space, and your bunk is the only spot to hide out. It is an awesome space to hang out and chat with fellow travelers. The space is very cool, with a great view, it was comfortable, and very clean. I felt safer here than in a cheap hotel for sure. People are watching out for each other. You are expected to pitch in a little. I didnt find it to be bothersome, but FYI they will want you to take care of your dishes and collect your bedding before you leave. I think its absolutely worth it to have a more affordable spot to stay. I would stay here again, highly recommended.
This was the best location, and sleep Ive had in a while! Just getting back to the states after 3 weeks in Peru of solo traveling. The warm welcome, mutual respect of spaces, and quiet hours where exactly what I was looking for. I had a great time walking up and down the beaches. While also being walking distance from shopping, the pier and restaurants. I would recommend this to other solo travelers as you can get a solid nights sleep in when your body really needs it, then adventure all day on foot! I cant wait to visit and explore more again!
There is so much I could say about my AMAZING stay at stay open but it would turn into an essay. Stay open is just as beautiful as the pictures with staff that are just as inviting. I am a travel nurse and ended up staying at this unique place for two weeks (I initially only planned on staying for one weekend). This place has everything you need: steps away from the beach, beach towels, beach chairs, bikes, laundry, an industrial kitchen, designated workspace, and even unique events. I participated in a HIT workout, yoga (I love Vance), a sound bath and a tea ceremony! It’s right in the middle of all the action on Venice so there is no problem finding great eats or grocery stores to cook delicious meals. The staff (Jelena💜, Dave💜 and Selena) are absolutely wonderful and so welcoming. They truly make this place special. I honestly felt at home! The pods are amazingly comfortable, I loved the option to be able to shut out the world anytime I want. They have 3 outlets in them as well as an adjustable light! I always felt safe at stay open and will definitely be coming back to this hidden gem whenever I’m in Venice!
What an incredible place, the Stay Open team know exactly whats going on and are miles ahead of the hostel alternatives in the area. The place is beautifully decorated, clean and spacious, like home away from home. Location wise, its quite literally on the beach and you can see the palm trees from the front pods! Excellent amenities for both working or vacation, plus all the staff (Jelena, Andy and many others) are always willing to go out their way for you. Count myself pretty lucky to have stayed here whilst its still being discovered, no doubt the Stay Open concept will become very popular and expand in the coming years!
The best hostel i have ever stayed in! I really liked the open concept so you get in touch with all the guests and if you need peace and quiet you can close your pod. The employees were extremely nice and helpful! The hostel is right around the corner from Venice Beach and you can see the beach and the sea from the window or from the roof. There is everything you need and more, everything is very clean!! I would definitely stay there again, highly recommended! :)
I thoroughly enjoyed a 3 night stay. The pods are expertly designed, comfortable, spacious & clean. The 4 level space is beautifully decorated, well organized for guests & perfect for work/play. STAY OPEN is in a centralized (slightly sketchy) location within walking distance to coffee, fab restaurants, the beach & much more. I HIGHLY recommend the STAY OPEN concept, would revisit & am excited for their expansion plans.
This is a beautiful place right on Venice beach. They thought of everything to make it as comfortable as possible. Okay, I gotta be honest. I thought this was more private when I booked it and had a slight panic attack when I saw it was shared space. That said, I booked it and couldn’t get a refund.I figured, I’ll go, see what it’s like and if I can’t swing it, I’ll just cut my losses and book a new hotel room.I arrived, the person who was there to greet me was incredibly nice and showed me around. The place was so cozy and comfy that I didn’t want to leave during my stay. The bed was comfortable and the open space was relaxed.I very much enjoyed my stay here. For what I spent it was incredible. Highly recommend
Stay Open plays in a league of its own and has set a high bar for travellers looking for hostels/alternatives to hotels.Dave (fellow Aussie and Stay Open manager) runs a tight ship, with an effortless check-in process, well maintained common spaces and is immediately welcoming, making you feel at home.The location is right by Venice beach and only has up to 10 guests at one time, making it a spacious environment where it’s easy to connect with other travelers or find a quite space to hang out.The next time I’m in LA, I would book again and without hesitation recommend Stay Open to anyone.
Highlight of my trip. This place is incredible. My first time sleeping in a pod and it was a game changer. Granted this one was a luxury one but I was impressed by how quiet it was, the temperature and how comfortable the bed was. The property itself is stunning and right on the beach. I only stayed for one night so couldn’t take advantage of everything it had to offer but I’ll be going back.
Stay Open - Venice BeachBy far the coolest lodging experience of my life! Theres a House Manager on duty who is so personable, makes you coffee/tea... Offers suggestions for everything imaginable. You come and go as people from all over the world eating, lodging, and may end up friends. I can only hope youll seek this adventure. Youll never forget it it! Its 4 floors of amazing! The pods are unexpectedly spacious and super comfy with intentional items such as a white noise maker, dimming lights, small shelf, chargers and a fan. The views are incredible, both from the front lounge area and the rooftop. Guest are very respectful to each other and HAPPY!
An absolute treasure of a stay! We just happened to stumble upon this gem while looking for a NY stay at LA. Ive stayed at other LA hostels before and was looking for a similar if not better experience. I was completely blown away. This isnt a hostel, its a whole new concept of a place. Its young, chic and stunning. It has panoramic views of the Venice Beach with limited futuristic sleep pods. Our host Jelena was wonderful and made us feel home right away. The place itself is spotless and boasts a fully equipped kitchen, study rooms with standing desks, a cool collab area and a beautiful living room with ceiling high windows overlooking the ocean. I would definitely return time and again.

By far, the best hostel I’ve stayed at, in the US. The place is maintained really well, Dave was excellent at communicating and helping me with my questions. The folks that I met at the hostel were great too. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the views of Venice beach from the hostel!

My experience at Stay Open was excellent! The location is perfect, right in front of Venice beach. I enjoyed watching the sunset from the rooftop and early morning runs! Facilities are amazing and the pods super comfortable. Staff was very welcoming, special thanks to Jelena and Dave for making me feel at home from the first moment!
Wonderful stay, shared bath was not a problem as there are several and all well-kept, complimentary laundry and skin lotion was greatly appreciated. The bed is super comfy. As a minor comment, I thought pillow cases would be nice but idk your process.
From the moment I set foot in Stay Open Venice Beadh I was truly amazed at both how welcome I was made to feel and the jaw dropping layout . I was made to feel so welcome and part of the crew with everyone taking the time to introduce themselves to me show me everything. The facilities and furnishings in this property are second and it’s location is second to none. The pods themselves and stylish and extremely comfortable. I cannot rate this place high enough and will recommend to any and everyone. Perfect for the digital nomad or young traveller. There is a huge range of things happening from personal training classes and yoga weekly to art exhibitions and party’s.
Needed a place to spend a couple nights before leaving LA and stumbled upon this Gem! They have an amazing concept, and keep the place very clean and comfortable. The location is unbeatable, right on the famous Venice Beach! The hosts are so accommodating and welcoming and went above and beyond to make sure my stay was perfect! I had the best 2 nights and didnt want to leave. Will definitely stay here next visit to LA!
I was solo traveling to LA from the Bay and tried to book Stay Open in the middle of my drive for the same night. One of the best trip decisions I ever made!! I was so pleasantly surprised with the place and people and the entire concept that I ended up Staying a day more than planned.Jelena was extremely accommodating, warm and welcoming. She introduced me to the rest of the guests and we ended up becoming friends! I highly recommend giving Stay Open at Venice beach a shot. The views of the beach are breathtaking and the people are awesome. 5/5 would stay there again!
This hostel is absolutely amazing, location, facilities, interior design, views, comfort. Its a little on the pricey side for a hostel - but it feels well worth it once you arrive. The beds are super comfortable and it was great to be able to use the bikes they provide. Would defo stay again and 100% reccomend
Do not hesitate to book!I saw the pictures when I was booking my stay. “The photos are beautiful”, I thought. If the space was half of what the photos represented then I would have been more than happy.As I entered the space, with an electronically downloaded key app, I was not disappointed. This hostel/co-working space was open, clean, and right on the beach. You can literally see the beach through the huge windows while working from the third floor. Not to mention, there is a rooftop as well!Let me not forget to mention what really made me feel welcome and comfortable here, the people. Dave (mate from Australia) was the the epitome of an incredible host. Through his tough, tan exterior, and pretty cool Aussie accent. Was a kind and positive energy host. His mates were pretty cool too.What more could you ask for?Thank you for the great experience. I hope to be back soon.
We have never stayed in a place like this before. It felt like we stayed at someones house, in a good way. There was a coffee machine, laundry liquid and even tampons. Thoughtful. I was already impressed with the design and layout of the place, but washing liquid tabs just make the stay extraordinary. It feels like the management truly cares about your comfort with such attention to detail. Thank you.

I was joking with a staff here during my stay who said that their first 4 star review would be a good thing because when I booked, every review was 5 stars and I honestly thought this place was fake. Im sorry I couldnt bring myself to give 4 stars; Stay Open is BEYOND amazing. Id give 12 stars if I could.I flew in from Eastern Canada and the check-in was seamless, the staff giving me the tour was helpful and kind, and the location is unreal. Stay Open was clean and well maintained and everyone seemed to know how to act kindly in a communal space. The staff even accommodated my weird check-out schedule when they easily could have left me to fend for myself.I also happened to be there during the weekly yoga class which was well worth the small extra cost. The teacher was amazing and the view of the beach couldnt be beat!The only thing I found unusual about Stay Open was that there was only a small drawer-sized space to lock valuables. Most other hostel-style accommodations Ive been to have larger cubbies or cages to lock bags up when youre out and about. Maybe that feature would be nice in the future or for people who stay longer (I only stayed two nights)? However, I didnt feel like it was at all necessary to lock my bag up after only a few hours there. Everyone was so friendly and kind, I didnt feel like I was at risk of losing anything..and I didnt!Sorry this is getting long but one more thing: having a portion of your stay being donated to a local charity to help with homelessness is THE BEST choice that EVERY business should be making. Honestly that was what sealed the deal for me booking. If you want to travel sustainably, Stay Open is the way to do it. I looked for something similar when I was booking for San Fran and was sad to see there is nothing as amazing as Stay Open.You guys are phenomenal! Please expand to other cities because the world needs more accommodations like you.
Just finished my second overnight visit to StayOpen this past weekend. The vibe was a ton of fun, I met great folks, and I got tips about the local scene. They’ve made some great upgrades to the space too. New GM is super cool and accommodating. Love the rooftop deck view and cozy heaters in the evening. Quick ride to LAX. All around very good value for the money and a great alternative for short trip working/sleeping in LA.
I was VERY impressed and pleasantly surprised. The views are amazing, pacific ocean, and all its tranquility and fury. The space is very large and open, very well lit. The pod itself is very comfortable. Im 5’10 and I didn’t feel cramped.
Stay open is a dreamy space with a breathtaking location right on the ocean with palm trees swaying and cotton candy sunsets. I met the sweetest people there including other guests as well as the team that makes it all run. They really care about your experience and want to help make it the best. Easy check-in, comfy cozy beds, beautiful kitchen, bath and lounge area. Plenty of space for everyone including a rooftop terrace over looking the ocean where I spent my mid mornings doing yoga and evenings watching the sunset. I highly recommend staying here, you’ll walk in and out with a smile on your face. The price in unbeatable!
Believe all the 5-star reviews because this place is truly unlike anything Ive EVER experienced in any hotel or hostel Ive ever stayed in (and Ive stayed in a LOT). Staying here felt like I was staying in a friends home. Every single detail and touch was so thought out, from each guest having a big section in the pantry and fridge, to beach towels, free laundry use, chargers and fans in the pods, yoga mats to use, I could seriously keep going. It was also genuinely SO CLEAN, like cleaner than hotels 4 times the price.The house managers are also so warm and kind (Jelena, I love you!!!). And as someone who also craves connectivity, the community feel here was so one-of-a-kind. The affordability and PRIME location (literally on the beach) makes this place an absolute no-brainer so if youre thinking about staying here at all, do it!!!
Amazing place. More of a grown up remote working shared hotel than a hostel. Multiple commons areas,beautiful ocean views, clean, comfortable, with 3 bathrooms for 10 people. Much better value and frankly nicer than the hotels in the area (I’ve stayed in them all.)
I mainly chose this place as I was getting into LAX late and this was one of the cheapest options nearby. Im so glad I picked it! Theyve done a fantastic job building this out, big open common spaces, amenities, plenty of bathrooms and hangout areas, good touches on design and decoration. The rooftop access is great for sunsets, and the management was super helpful and available.Id had a glitch in my pod that caused one of the interior lights to come on in the middle of the night, I managed with a shirt over my eyes but next day without prompting i was informed that bc of this they were refunding my nights stay!! Wasnt necessary but wow, what an amazing thing to do, shows great intention to do right by their guests. Ill definitely be staying here next time I visit!
Great place. Peaceful and astonish interior design. Great location with great views. Helpful hosts, offering lots of stuff to make your life simpler (beach towels, bicycles...) The pod thing? Surprisingly roomy, cozy and comfortable (and felt much safer covid-wise than a regular shared dorm). My future first option if I ever travel solo to LA again.
Wow! There are so many things I could say about my stay I am not sure where to start! I visited Venice Beach/ Santa Monica Beach as a solo traveler for the first time last week. I have never stayed in a hostel or work space concept before and was curious to try something new.Location: Stay Open literally sits on the beach at 11 Brooks Ave so the location is perfect!Check In: The opener came off a little crass while giving me a tour of the house as it was still quiet time and I was trying to move about the house with luggage and bags in hand but I was able to check in super early which was a plus!Bedding/Pod: My pod was made up and ready for me to use. I quickly started unpacking my stuff and tried to make myself comfortable. Its a Twin size bed that has a fan, chargers, outlets for additional chargers, and a fire alarm inside.The Space: The space is an open concept with no doors besides the showers/toilets. Four levels so plenty of room to spread out and chill or work if you plan to stay in most of your trip. Absolutely beautiful, especially the rooftop!The Guests: I enjoyed meeting literally people from all over the world. Everyday I woke up, someone had checked out and someone new checked in! Lol Everyone was sweet and very polite and we all go to know where we we were all from and what brought us to Venice.Other things to note: One of the openers (host) has a dog that was there everyday of my stay. I wanted to point this out as on their website it states guest cannot bring their dog but there was one that was present inside most of the day during my stay. If you have allergies or are afraid of dogs in general you might want to reach out to management before your stay for special accomodations. The dog was friendly for sure but I get how some people are just not dog people, so full disclosure here.Overall, I had a great stay! Close to everything and I mean everything in Venice and Santa Monica! I am glad I decided to make my stay extra special by trying something new! When on Venice Beach, go check this place out!

Stay Open absolutely exceeded my expectations, and was the best hostel Ive ever stayed at. The pods were very comfortable, with the noise dampening door and white noise machine meaning I couldnt hear a thing from outside (someone arrived at 4am in the bed underneath me and I didnt even notice). It had comfy couches, work stations, a fully equipped kitchen and the best sunsets from the balcony upstairs. Jelena was an incredibly welcoming and helpful host who even took us clubbing one night, and was always around if needed- she goes above and beyond to make sure everyones experience is wonderful. I was sad to leave and will definitely be back if Im back in LA! Highly recommend!
It’s been by far the best hostel in which I have been, everything was perfect, Belice me when I tell you that is even better than the pictures (and the pictures are perfect) it’s such a clean, big, comfy and well decorate place. It has all the amenities that you can imagine, and the staff makes you feel in home. Jelena was amazing, when I arrived she showed me the place and she explained me about the activities that they have. Also she invited me to watch some series “like a big family” with other guest and she gave me some of her food. Words can’t express how magic is this place. I have to be honest, LA was not what I expected but for sure I’ll be back only for this incredible place. 💖

Excellent stay all around. Perfect location on the beach. I loved the sleep pods. I slept well with the white noise machine that was provided. Everything was clean and thoughtful. I especially enjoyed the yoga class and rooftop views. Will definitely stay here again next time I visit LA.
This place is awesome! Its clean, modern and huge. The pods are also very comfortable and gives you your own personal space. The view from the living room of the sunset is amazing. Jalena is really nice and helpful and I will definitely be back!
This place is incredible! Its clean, and even though its a hostile, I always felt like I had my own space. The building is super close to the beach (literally right on beachside) and the amenities are great (laundry, bike rental, free coffee, tea, etc.)!

Very recommended stay! This is if youre ok with sleeping in pods, which I found quite comfortable (definitely way nicer than hostel beds). Bikes, kitchen, laundry and general ambience make the stay super comfortable - Definitely go for a bike tour on the beach trail (e.g. to Santa Monica). The rooftop is amazing, it has a direct view to the beach/palm trees, which makes it a perfect sunset spot (plus, they do HIIT and yoga there, which I hadnt had the time for :(Id have loved to stayed longer and get to know the fellow pod-habitants better :)
Very cool concept run by a cool group of people. Location is awesome, literally right on Venice beach, I was surprised by how nice and large the building was compared to the photos, definitely worth checking out!

I was completely blown away with this place! I felt welcomed from the second I walked in the door. The hosts were the sweetest and answered all of my questions. This place is truly amazing. By far one of my best hostel experience I ever had in west coast. Staff is super welcoming and friendly. I booked it for a weekend via HostelWorld for me and my friends and we all of us just loved it. Jelena is such an amazing host, definitely recommend staying here. + the location is superb.
I cant begin to describe how amazing my experience was.It was super easy to book a pod and check in to the location. The app served as my key to get and worked well. The property itself was absolutely stellar, located directly on the Venice Beach boardwalk with a balcony overlooking the beach and the ocean (even has a Tiki bar on the balcony) The sunset from this view alone is something you do not want to miss☀️The pods were extremely comfortable to sleep in, full kitchen to cook any meals I wanted. They had full access to bikes and skateboards to help get around the area which was a blessing.Most importantly was the people I met on this journey. I was able to meet and connect with so many people from all over the world who were also staying at Stay Open in a way you just cant get at a hotel. We would cook and share meals with eachother, tell stories over drinks, or just explore L.A together. You cant put a price tag on this kind of experienceThank you Stay Open!

This place is outstanding on every level. Cool space, killer location, awesome peeps, chill vibe, reasonably priced. I thought the pods might be a little creepy but they were totally fine. Super comfortable and plenty big enough. My only regret is that I didnt stay longer.
Instructions to get in at first was confusing. They’ll either give you a key card or you can use the app. I just didn’t know which door to open at first and was good afterwards. Checkout is also pretty simple as well. The hosts were ok with me staying for a little past check out to finish my online class.The place is literally beach front property! They have a roof where you can see the ocean. You’re also within walking distance for shops and food, as well as a skateboard park and other sporty things.They do have a small safe to store your valuables in where you can put your own code in, about the size of a ps4. You also have an allotted area for your stuff, but they’ll give you a walkthrough once you come in.Thanks again for the short stay!

So good I don’t really want to share but they deserve it. Super clean and comfortable the staff is all amazing and helpful. The roof top views will keep you stress free, and from getting any work done. Street parking wasn’t too bad but wish I could pay directly to have in and out parking.

A futuristic dream pod with all of the comforts you desire. Ever detail, from the plushiness of the towels and toiletries to the exceptional cleanliness was thought of. AND STEPS from the BEACH (grab a towel or Chair from Stay Open to make it really cushy). We were in walking distance to all the best restaurants (grab a tahini croissant from Gjusta in the Am). 5 out of 5 stars cant wait to go back

This place is truly supernatural. The architecture and location and mission of it are certainly all contributors. But its actually the people that make this spot alive. Ive rarely come across people who so believe in a space. Its weird and humbling and OTHERWORLDLY.

Very cool modern space that is affordable, yet offers spacious hangout / work areas! I would definitely come back. The only thing that really bothered me was that I might have been slightly too tall for the bunk beds (Im 6.3 / 1.90m).
Found almost by chance on a trip organized at the last minute, I experienced one of the greatest strokes of luck of my life.Fantastic place, from the design to the location practically on the beach, from the cleanliness to the quality of the spaces, from the atmosphere to the exceptional staff. Dave and Camilla were very professional and at the same time excellent companions for breakfast and laughter. I met only wonderful people in a golden atmosphere with a backdrop of palm trees and sand.I will absolutely go back ❤️
For next Japanese I’ll write in JapaneseThe cleanliness of the room is amazing for this price along the seaside of Venice Beach!They told me to check in at 3 oclock in advance, but I arrived early, so I asked them to check in at 12 oclock, and they accommodated me smoothly!The room is on the 4th floor including the rooftop, the 1st floor is a free space and bathroom (of course all have toilets), the 2nd floor is where you stay, free space, kitchen, bathroom.3rd floor is free space, bathroom, 4th floor is. It was on the roof.During my trip to America, this was the only place where the shower head worked. There was shampoo, conditioner, and body soap.Overall it is very beautiful!There are also electrical outlets inside the capsule hotel, which is convenient.I was allowed to make pasta for dinner. Even if I didnt know where the tools were, they told me right away.There was a safe with a number lock for valuables on the second floor.It was chill watching the sunset over Venice from the rooftop lolI recommend it

We struggled to find a clean hotel in a safe area but finally we found Stay open. The hotel was right on the beach and the view was amazing! Large panoramic windows overlooking the beach and sea. Inside, it was also nicely decorated and there was a fresh kitchen. The staff were nice and helpful and could give recommendations where to go and which places to avoid. Before the trip, I was worried that I would be disturbed by noise when I was going to sleep, but since you could close your capsule, there were no outside noises. I almost slept better there than at home. I will definitely come back!

This was my first stay in a youth hostel. I had never dared before because I was afraid of not having personal space. But what attracted me to Stay Open is that we each have a sort of capsule that we can completely close when we feel the need (especially to sleep). Everything is extremely clean, whether the common areas (bathroom, kitchen, living room, etc.) or the individual areas: the capsule itself is super comfortable!Everyone was very kind to me, there is a real chill and zen atmosphere in the house which makes you immediately feel at ease.Ideally located on Venice Beach, overlooking the ocean, it is truly the ideal place to visit this part of the city of Los Angeles.If like me you are shy and/or you need your personal space and/or you have never dared to try youth hostels before then this space is made for you! I recommend with my eyes closed 🥰

I’d like to stay in next time I will visit Venice Beach!It was a wonderful response. It is in a good location by the sea, and it is very pleasant to take an early morning walk. Fabulous!!! The stay open sees itself as an interface between hotel and hostel. It is basically a luxury hostel with a loft character. You have the feeling of living in a shared apartment, which is great! You can cook, there is coffee in the morning and no expense has been spared on the quality of the inventory. All of this definitely has its price, but that is also what makes the guests there. A great place!

This place is beautiful. Words cannot describe the beauty of this place. It is open, with the best view of the beach, nice, clean, and you also have your privacy in the pods. It is also located in a place with access to restaurants, shops, markets, historic Santa Monica pier, etc. When you enter stay open Jelena makes you feel like you came home. Their kindness and hospitality make stay open a place like no other. The layout makes it easy to share and meet other guests without feeling crowded or forced. They also offer hitt classes, biotunes, yoga and sound therapy. The truth is that I recommend it 100% and I would return without thinking twice.
Great spot! A real concept. There are 10 pods (or capsules) distributed in a large loft with different very cozy and designer common areas including a roof top and a kitchen with everything you need. We were 5 friends and it was the perfect mix. We meet other travelers there and Jelena our host takes great care. I can only recommend, a real experience.

The place is wonderful and clean, and everything is arranged, carefully chosen, and comfortable. The staff are friendly and take care of my requests. If you want to relax and live in an upscale place, you must go to this place. There are many options for places of calm and relaxation inside the motel or hostel, and the balcony on the sea to sit and enjoy the breeze and the view.I was able to do morning exercises on the balcony with the teamLocated near the beach, restaurants and recreation areasI will be back soon for a longer break when going to Los Angeles
It was a fantastic experience. Very nice place, organized and clean. Facing the beach, great bars and clubs are just a few minutes away by car or on foot. 2023-11-18 02:22:58An absolute gem for relaxation! It got a fantastic array of amenities, including a cool rooftop area thats perfect for unwinding. The spacious pods offer a cozy and comfortable sleeping space, while the great kitchen facilities make it easy to prepare meals. Not to mention, the cleanliness throughout the hostel is top-notch. Plus, being right next to Venice Beach adds that extra charm and convenience. Highly recommended!

Common room, kitchen, washroom! Clean4 nice guests! Made many friends here ! People are so nice.5 quiet environment! Even during the day, you don’t need to worry about the noise!Some suggestions:1 please check if we can adjust the height of the bike seat to make it more comfortable to ride.Love love love

2023-10-15 17:02:04My stay at Stay Open was wonderful and unique. I met the best people at one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Camila is such a wonderful host. I appreciate her a lot. She was always there to help when I had questions or issues. Also Dave is a really cool and fun guy. Cant wait to come back and stay at this hostel again. I totally can recommend it!

I have always felt so welcome whenever I stay here. The facilities are well-maintained, and the pod beds are very comfortable. Shout out to Dave and Camilla for being such excellent hosts!It truly feels like youre at home at Stay Open.

2023-11-21 17:52:12Amazing location a little bit more expensive than a youth hostel but not really a youth hostel just sharing an amazing house with amazing people. Camille and David were fantastic hosts.. amazing location right on the beach quiet just an unbelievably amazing place the lights the music the pods were fantastic to sleep in worth every penny.:-).. quiet amazing guests that I was sharing the space with, books great places to hang out and get work done.. bicycles that you can use for free for 3 hrs.

2023-10-12 06:16:03Absolutely the best hostel Ive ever stayed in during my ten years of traveling around the world. Especially, Camilla was such a welcoming, kind, supportive, and professional host. It was my first time staying in LA, and it was the best choice. Initially, I was supposed to stay for only four days, but I extended it to more than 10 days for all the above reasons. And yes, Dave, such a nice and cool guy, my friend ❤️ Hes so funny, and I believe he should be a stand-up comedian, for sure.

2023-10-03 12:46:39Literally the best Hostel I ever stayed in!!!It was even better than most hotels Ive ben to as well. Why?- The location: the hostel is literally AT the beach! You can see the ocean from the window/living room. The winds are big so it is very light and bright, you just feel very good being there

2023-10-10 19:16:50A great affordable option for Venice and Santa Monica. Camilla and dave are super nice and welcoming. It does not feel like a hostel at all, so if you are put off by that don’t be, you will have a great time. The interior is spacious and well designed. The beds are large enough for anyone and offer good privacy. The staff offer their time to show you around which is a nice touch.

Between the easily reachable and welcoming staff, the truly comfortable pod setup and the diverse and easy going crowd; this is easily my new go-to spot in Venice Beach. Really comfortable bedding, super nice staff (Dave and Camilla), great kitchen and overall facilities. Clean, spacious, modern, high quality. I felt right at home from the first moment and would come back anytime. Also, great value for money!
