2023-08-30 22:54:58Our server Charles was excellent! The food very good, I had the fish tacos 😋 One companion had the Burger and she said it was very good. The other companion had the Greek salad and she said it was great. Restaurant was clean and tables werent too close together, a plus in my book ❤️ The bathroom was clean and kept up. All in all it was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend it ☺️

2023-12-09 23:39:23We used to go to Steamers once in a while a long time ago when we first lived in the area. Always liked the place. We stopped for lunch on a trip back to Los Gatos, and had a fantastic experience. The crab dip, and crab cakes were some of the best we have had, and the service was excellent Beautiful restaurant - very upscale. Nice to have table clothes for a change!

2023-12-09 07:37:21The food was delicious. Our waiter was attentive and kind. The linguine was delicious but definitely not fresh pasta, which was a bummer. The pork chops special we got were amazing.

2022-09-09 00:02:56Excellent service that feels very personal, a good selection of seafood, all of which was excellent, and a reasonable selection of wines, some of which wont break the bank. The roasted mussels appetizer is exceptional. The scallops over risotto were wonderful, the Steamers linguine was awesome, and so was the pasta special. We will go back.

2023-02-06 00:21:50My wife and I have eaten at Steamer’s Grillhouse many times since I posted my first review 18 months ago, so I think that an update is long overdue. My original review was for lunch on the patio. This one’s for dinner in the main dining room.I love their fresh grilled halibut, especially when it’s in season. Unfortunately, they don’t take it off the menu or give us a heads-up when it’s not fresh. At dinner last month (January 2023) our server said that the fish was fresh, but it obviously wasn’t. It was overcooked, dry, flavorless, and seemed like frozen fish to me. At least the organic mixed greens on my side salad were as good as usual. My wife really enjoyed her scallops and risotto. The four scallops were plump, juicy, and perfectly grilled, and the risotto was rich and creamy. It’s a great combo, and she’s glad they added it back onto the menu.Service has been mixed on our recent visits. It’s been efficient at times but occasionally slow. I realize that it’s tough to find a sufficient number of high quality employees these days, so I hope their service will get better in the near future. The Matulich brothers have done a good job growing their family business from a small storefront to a large white tablecloth restaurant, and they’ve built quite a loyal following over the years. It’s been inconsistent lately, so I’m reluctantly lowering my rating from four to three stars. Nevertheless, we’ll continue to dine at Steamers… at least for now… with the expectation that it’ll improve.ORIGINAL REVIEW: 8/3/2021After more than 40 years of consistently great food and service, this family owned and operated restaurant has earned its rightful place as a Los Gatos institution. This review is just for lunch, but we’ve also enjoyed happy hour and dinner at Steamer’s. Their unique Shrimp BLT is one of my favorite items on the lunch menu. It’s made with oven roasted jumbo prawns and applewood smoked bacon and it’s served on toasted focaccia bread with a generous helping of fries. Other menu items that we’ve enjoyed over the years include the roasted mussels, fresh grilled halibut, tortilla soup, clam chowder, fish tacos and prawn tacos. My wife wishes that they’d bring back their scallops and risotto dish. I’m hoping for a return of their fresh Alaskan (instead of Pacific) halibut. The dining room decor is looking a bit dated, and some of the upholstery has even gotten a little threadbare, but that’s all understandable given how restaurants are just struggling to survive these days. Many of the servers at Steamer’s have worked here for years and their professionalism is apparent. This is a white tablecloth restaurant but the food and wine are fairly priced given the quality. Reservations are recommended, especially if you want to sit outside.

2022-06-27 21:23:47I have been living in California for 19 years, with my husband on weekends we go to different areas and Los Gatos is one of my favorites. I love discovering new places for lunch. This Saturday we went to Steamers for the first time. It is on a corner right in front of Los Gatos Downtown. Inside it is very spacious, with different areas, many tables covered with tablecloths and a giant bar. There are also tables outside, in a large hall. We sat at a high table on the street. The service was fast and very attentive. We ordered Crispy Calamari : Roasted Garlic-Chive Aioli to start and then my hubby order a classic Caesar Salad:Shaved Parmesan Crouton and he add chicken and I was craving something very american, so I order the Grillhouse Burger:Lettuce Tomato Red Onion Kaiser Bun Fries. All very well presented and delicious.I highly recommend this place for a fun moment with good food.

2019-09-19 15:35:20This roomy restaurant in Los Gatos features a variety of seafood in a traditional restaurant setting. While the food was cooked properly and tasted good enough, there were several issues that made this a less than ideal meal. First, the pricing is quite high, even by Los Gatos standards. Second, the waiter was lazy and half-hearted in his attempts to provide basic service. Third, be aware that happy hour pricing is not available only on the bar side, not on the restaurant side. Fourth, we saw two of the waiters wrapping up leftovers, using their BARE HANDS to transfer the food into the container. The experience was subpar and overpriced. Not recommended.
