2022-06-15 00:15:41Good variety and service. The sweet sour soup and pork sweet rice cake appetizer were the best among other dishes ordered. The venison was below average. Will come back to try the baked while fish.

2021-12-07 15:15:53I got their family dinner for 4 with canh chua. Food was pretty good and it felt like home cooking. Canh chua was a little too sweet but not bad. Everyone has a different palette for that dish. It’s whatever your mom made, we like it a bit more sour. Ca kho to was good and the family dinner for 4 was good. Hai the server was also very nice, I will be back to try their famous baked catfish. So nice to have viet home style cooking in Rosemead instead of going to Westminster.

2023-09-19 00:46:28Ordered a family style Dinner for $125, dishes were small, there was hardly enough fish in the clay pot fish dish, the fried whole fish (tilapia) was borderline spoiled and it was deep fried, but was way over fried. The clams dish was also bad, mostly gravy and no more than 12 dead b-4 cooked claims in the plate. The dishes were of poor quality, except for Canh Chua Catfish, it was okay. Also had additional a la carte dishes of Shaken beef/venison too, and there were hardly any meat, few pieces of meat were on mostly beds of raw veggies. Given that we are in the high inflationary time, however, this restaurant is way too expensive and they serve mediocre meats along with poor food preparation.Just as I got the bill, one of the staff sat on a chair next to me at my table kept looking at the tip amount as I was writing the tip/total - a sign of poor taste and desperation.

2023-02-26 02:50:42Bad service stood there for a long time and they did not even take my order. Just look at this place it looks unsanitary. The food looks nasty how can people think this is good.

2018-01-29 18:42:00The famous baked fish is back and its bad-ass delicious, bar none! The spirit of authenticity by any other name is still Phong Dinh (the original purveyor of this phenomenal dish). The catfish rolls compliment the tamarind dipping sauce like yin-yang in taste. Its neither without the other. If you havent tried it yet, this meal should be amongst the must try before I die, of bucket list. Thats to say, youre not a local of So-Cal.

2023-07-27 23:19:37OMG! Delicious!!!!Com ca thit ko tho - Carmelized braised fish (I apologize for not spelling this correctly. That what I ordered and it was AMAZING.So I came in expecting to order the baked catfish, but didn’t see it on the lunch menu that I was handed. Also it takes about an hour and is for minimum 2 people (about 4lbs of a whole fish).I did not end up being disappointed. However I would have enjoyed some sort of veggie in addition to the rice and fish. But talk about FLAVOR! Sooooo good!!I also ordered shrimp spring rolls due to their $18 minimum when paying with card (Apple Pay in my case). They had an interesting flavor due to the shrimp Im guessing. It was nice and refreshing. Great size. There was a nice spice added to the peanut sauce.Cleanliness apparently is something that’s talked about in other reviews. It seemed clean and nice, with some homie music that I’d never heard before. After talking to the owner he mentioned the restaurant focus on home cooked Vietnamese food. If this is what homecooking is, sadly I’ve been sleeping on Vietnamese food for far too long.Thank you for Sàu for making my day and expanding my food/flavor pallet.

2022-06-27 02:47:28Got the braised river prawn in caramelized roe sauce — unreal. So savory and roe-y, the prawn was massive. Staff was SO nice. Definitely will be back again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😍

2023-01-03 19:15:02Total gem in rosemead. The soup and baked catfish are an amazing combo. We usually get the dinner for four combo in the menu. It serves our family of four perfectly with a bit extra to take home. Service is fast and workers there are friendly. Would recommend.
