Took my family out for sushi. Service was friendly and quick and the sushi tasted fresh. When in town we would go there again.

Delicious meal! We enjoyed the teriyaki salmon, with a California roll in the bento box. Everything about the restaurant was delightful.
Great stop on our way from socal to Sacramento. Little off the 5, but not too bad of a detour and clean and pretty inside. Rolls were a little rice heavy and I wasnt a fan of the brown-rice green tea (it was ok, but I wouldnt get it again, even though I enjoy the similar flavor of barley tea), they could easily keep regular green tea on hand and/or a sample of teas. Huge bonus points for setting down a whole ”bear” of honey when I asked for honey with my tea though (often at other places I get odd looks or am stuck scraping a teaspoon of honey out of a small condiment dish). 2 fancy rolls (dragon and Sugoi, pictured) and an order of gyoza plus two hot teas ran $45 including a 20% tip and was a nice way to break up the long drive.
The food is amazing and so is the service! It was my familys first time dining in since the Pandemic began, and we were thoroughly impressed. We order from Sugoi often and are always impressed.
Always amazing! Pacheco Roll, Heart Attach(omg so so good) Fried Gyoza, Baked Mussels and I cant remember what the other roll was, but it was great. The Miso soup is perfect especially when sick. The Spicy Ramen(no meat) as well.
I visited here 3 times in the last month. I absolutely love the sushi here. You need to try the “Aloha” and the “Lobster”. You can not go wrong eating here.

Being from the bay area, I am a bit spoiled when it comes to certain cuisines. Sugoi is an awesome addition to food choices in Los Banos, CA. At Sugoi you can order Japanese and Korean dishes. The sushi is great. I am a big fan of soup, so I typically order the spicy seafood udon (udon noodles, seafood mix, and a savory/spicy broth), which I highly recommend. for the Korean dish, I always enjoy the beef bulgogi. The staff is friendly, the establishment is clean, and the environment is peaceful. I love Sugoi!

This place was really good on the sushi part. Pretty pricey so expect a hefty bill. I would stay away from the ramen thats just a massive RIP OFF !!!!. They sell you packaged instant noodles for $20 and call it ramen. Place is small so go early to avoid a wait. The spices tuna was amazing .
5 stars ⭐️ and are for the Itamae ONLY each time I’ve ordered there…But the staff they have cannot take an accurate order to save their lives!THEY GET 2 ⭐️ ⭐️ for whatever little effort they put forward…This was my 4th or 5th time ordering takeout and it’s been wrong 100% of the time…I ate it anyway who wants to drive all the way back to complain when there’s food to be eaten right there in front of you in the bag?My advice ~ look in the bag before you go home! They tie it in a knot so so won’t but they make mistakes EVERY time I’ve ordered ~ like I said not the fault of the Itamae…it’s the person taking orders….Crunchy role my favorite perfect temp & oh so fresh…But if I asked for extra wasabi it doesn’t mean I didn’t want ginger! Always a mistake there but just have them repeat order back to you then check b4 leaving because it’s decent sushi & nice to have it here in LB.
I chose mild ramen. Which can out just to be instant noodles. The noodles are not ramen, and the soup is not either. It needs to replace ramen as instant noodles on the menu.

The food was fresh and delicious. The service was not the fastest but I dont go to a sushi joint looking for quickly served sushi, its not a good sign. I know they take the appropriate amount of time to make each and every roll. Nothing was sloppily done. My one complaint is that I saw one too many tables that hadnt been cleared. There werent that many people in there at the time so I just wondered when they were going to clean it up. Its not the best thing to see going into any restaurant. Otherwise this is a decent place to eat.
Is the food good? I’ll probably find out much later after getting it. Ride is 30mins late and since I asked for take out I have to sit in the fresh room staring at my food or go outside in the heat to eat it because once it’s to go it’s to go. I’ll probably change my rating after trying it. (Food is actually pretty good)

This is one of the best restaurants to visit in Los Banos. Prices are reasonable. Red dragon and Viva los Banos sushi are my favorite, but their is plenty more to choose from.
The food here is consistently excellent and that’s what the 3 stars goes to. The customer service— Not so much. It’s really hit or miss. Occasionally, there is a woman on the phone who absolutely needs customer service training or a different position. Shes short and her attitude is terrible. She’s the first impression for customers ordering takeout and she almost makes me want to cancel my order. I’m sure I’m not the only customer that feels this way. I wish I knew her name but I hope the business sees this and looks into it.
Been here before and really liked it! I really wanted it tonight but I saw they closed at 8 PM. I called at 7:57 PM and asked if they’d take an order and they said yes! They were done so quick and I was SO happy they took my order that close to closing because I REALLY wanted sushi. Everyone was so nice when I came in too! I love this place.

My favorite Sushi place. Fresh meats, and beautiful ladies serving up good customer service. My compliments to the Chefs! They even have Poke Bowls which can be hard to find at times. Catch me there at least once a week though Im as broke as a 89 Geo.
We love going here for sushi! We havent had anything that tastes bad on the menu, sometimes just a bit too spicy for our liking, but still delicious! Some may not consider it 100% authentic, but my husband and I really enjoy grabbing something to eat here and we continue to go back.
Sugoi has the best shrimp fried rice. Love the Viva Los Banos, the Sizzle l Double Shrimp Roll, Spicy Edamame, Fried Gyoza, Vegetable & Shrimp Tempura, Mexican Roll, Viva Las Vegas, Mango Saki. Got Chicken Catsu and it was very hot & crunchy. Sandy my server, is very helpful, she knows me by name, she is always a pleasure to order from with a smile and asks frequently if we need anything else.

The food is always great. We have good not great sushi in a small town. The service leaves much to desire though. During our last visit we were the first ones in, and were the only ones there until almost the end of our meal. Our waitress left much to be desired. My drink was pretty much empty and she walked past my table several times. She never asked if I needed anything. I had to call her myself in order to get any help from her. She brought our meal in a timely manner, but then again we were the first there. At the end of our meal, I waited at least 10 minutes for her to bring our check. Another waitress ended up bringing it to me. The waitress who took our order and brought our food took her another 10 minutes to notice my check was ready to be taken away. Again good is good, service not so much.
Food was good, service was not. We told the waitress we needed another minute to decide on our order, about 10-15 minutes later she finally came back. After our food was brought out it took another 10 minutes to flag someone down to get chopsticks. We were completely done eating before the check was brought over and then had to wait another 15 minutes for someone to come over so we could pay… it was not busy.

Its sushi, its good and its in Los Banos. This place is a gem and I am happy they are in our town, the sushi is good, the fish is fresh and their entrees are delicious. Especially their spicy pork or chicken, its my favorite and my go to. My family enjoys the crunch roll and bento boxes. I have have their Ono, tuna, salmon and eel and they all have been tasty. Fyi if you are local they accept the Rad Card 👍
The restaurant was extremely busy when I arrived to pick up our family order. We ordered on the phone at 7:05, they said it would be 25 minutes, so we arrived around 7:50pm, the order wasn’t ready. I asked at around 7:55 how long it would take, they said 5 minutes…it was done around 8:05pm. I did communicate with them about my wait, so they were aware I had waited a long time for our food. Food was not hot and we noticed that a ramen order was missing when we got home. I called they corrected the mistake and they threw in an extra ramen order and some tempura veggies. They apologized for the wait and mix up. Food was hot when I picked it up and was delicious when we ate it at home. Would definitely try this place again.
Nice shop with nice staff, attentive waiters and quick service. The sushi chef pays close attention to details and has flair. The food is varied and tasty. I cant say Ive had anything here I disliked. Portions are nice, too. Take your SO here sometime.
Never ate here before, but was recommended by a friend & after reading reviews thought Id give it a shot. So being that its cold & rainy out, I ordered Ramen soup To-Go. Well, got back home, was anticipating something bomb & tasty...What I got was basically an over priced pack of Ramen. 😑 It tastes exactly like the Ramen I make at home, same texture of noodles & everything. They did add some egg & green onions but thats it, however I make my Ramen the same way & some, except mine taste 💯 better. I think that its really unfair to charge customers $8.95 for packaged Ramen. 😑

Well in Los Banos theres not too many Japanese restaurants in town so your choices or Limited. However with that said this place offers a great selection of Japanese food at a very reasonable price. The chicken teriyaki is so delicious and their California rolls are just as good. So if youre looking for a great Japanese dinner at a fair price, oh is this place!! It is the best place to go in town for some great Japanese food.
We are regulars! We always order take out and it is always fresh, and sooo good! I always order a new sushi and never turned away. They always make sure we are satisfied with everything, or if we need anything that we may have forgotten. We need to make a date to be able to go inside and eat, I love sugoi sushi! I highly recommend!
Sugoi sushi is a staple in Los Banos. The service is always good, and the atmosphere is welcoming. The food is average, and the presentation is decent. Overall, the only place to get sushi in LB.
Dissapointed since this is basically the only sushi place in Los Banos. The service and wait time was good but the chicken teriyaki and salad dressing was so bland and lacked flavor. My pot stickers were also cold. Servings was kinda small for my liking. A big let down, dont think well be coming back.
Though the food is good, the staff always either messes up my order, shortchanges me, tries to take my rewards card and not give it back, doesnt sign my rewards card, changes the rules on the rewards card or disagrees with each other on how it is used or they dont remember to use my coupons. They are largely incompetent but Sandra the waitress seems to at least know what she is doing. They also dont sell everything that is listed on the menu.
First time writing a review for anybody. We have been to restaurants in several parts of the world and our taste ranges from drive through fast food to $500 at dinner for 2. We have enjoyed Sugoi Sushi since they first opened and we have never been disappointed. We always order the Chefs choice for a Sashimi combination, which leaves the selection completely to the chef based on what is fresh and available. We have never had a complaint. I know its crazy to think we can get good Sushi so far away from the coast, but they make it happen. As a Los Banos local, I highly recommend this restaurant.
Awesome sushi roll spot for a quick take out. Accidentally stumbled into this little eatery on the way to S.F. Recommending Vegas roll or shrimp roll for a starter. Sashimi plate was surprisingly fresh and the price was reasonable. Friendly staff and just wish we had chance to dine in.
So good. I recommend the Yosemite roll and the Udon Soup noodles were cooked perfectly!!! The tempura is so good too. It’s clean and there is a great ambiance. ❤️🥰
Sugoi Sushi is absolutely delicious. Service is wonderful (when they were open for dining). Portion sizes are perfect, whether you are eating alone or feeding a family. Many different options available. Try the Sugoi roll! Also the desserts, my daughter loves the mochi.
I wish I would have taken pictures of my food! The rolls were well made and the description given on the menu was accurate. My favorite was the Hot nite roll, spicy tuna actually had a spice! Staff was really friendly and attentive. Dont go to Los Banos often but I will be here on my next trip.
Hot tea is warm, twice. Wrong food served to me and my family is almost done with their food. Not even sure if one of the servers understood that I said Id like it to go now that Ive been waiting so long. Never coming back here. And now it was just served to me in the same bento box with cold food after the right choice of meat was made. Lousy communicatiin and service.
It was pretty good that was first time I tasted raw fish in a sushi, I usually eat California rolls and things that are fully cooked. Udon noodles are good the salad was delicious spicy edamame was to die for everything was savory.

The service was very friendly. My wife had the teriyaki steak Bento box. It was delicious. My daughter has the chicken teriyaki plate, I think it was good because she inhaled it. I had the crazy boy sushi and the Mexican sushi. Bother were excellent. Even the tempura sauce was delicious. The only bad thing is that it is 2 hours away from home. Oh well. But Ill be back someday.

Placed to go order paid and waited while other peoples order were ready finally someone asked are you waiting for your order yes I said name please she didnt bother to ask as I was paying she was asking another customer if she wanted somthing to drink and took payment she told me 15 min 45 min later they hadnt even put my order in so I asked for my money back . I had night hopes of the food I heard good things but as first time customer had impression
Expensive pricing for what I got. The sashimi was half the size but at regular price as many places and the salmon had white lines as thick as my chopsticks... the tuna sashimi was tough and bland and dont even get me started on the tasteless tuna sushi roll... so why not 1 star instead of 2 you may ask? Well, the teriyaki salmon was the saving grace to the plate, very good, and I am taking into consideration that I tried a combo plate instead of a specialty roll. I may come back to try out their select dishes, but as of now, the staff may be nice but the food is a RIP off.Edit: After a second visit, Ive come to the conclusion that... its a sushi spot. Small, nice and easy. Staff is friendly. Food isnt anything special but it is prepared properly. Overall, its a good experience.

I wish they had more types of ramen like the classic tankotsu ramen. Their sushi and sashimi variety is very extensive and fairly priced. The atmosphere is very relaxin. Costumer service is great!
Did not expect this hidden gem on Los Banos out of all places ... not saying anything bad about the town by all means, but the fact that the theyre out in the boondocks and the overall quality and freshness was a pleasant surprise. They had a variety of roll options, bento plates, soup and dessert options too!The staff was friendly, a sushi chef even stepped out on the floor to ask help a customer decide what kind of handroll to order. They had TVs showing live baseball and football games while we were there, and the place looked and smelled clean. Will definitely drop in again when were in the area.

I love this restaurant! I am happy Los Banos has somewhere to go for good sushi! I ordered the Japan Town. A nice assortment of sushi and plenty, I had to take some home. My husband ordered a pork dish, I forget the name. He liked it. He is not a sushi lover. Wonderful service! Thank you Sugois!
Me and my children went here today and we were waiting for about thirty minutes waiting to be served. The people that were already seated had their food. The employees walked past is a dozen times. They stood around doing nothing and we decided to leave. I do not recommend this place. It sucks really bad.
I usually come back to Los Banos once a year to visit my family and this time around I tried sugoi after my family hyped it up. And I was blown away by how cool the space was and how good the food was. The sake selection wasent half bad either! Had a great time.
The fish was fresh, however the I ordered spicy tuna rolls and salmon rolls and there must have been a shortage on salmon because there was very little fish in the salmon rolls compared to the tuna rolls. Other than that the service was courteous and fast.
Great food and excellent service. If your craving sushi then this is the place to go in Los Banos. They also have a bunch of other non fish and cooked fish options. The bento boxes are pretty good as well.
Their sushi is really good. Taste fresh and well made. Priced right Im my opinion. This is my go to sushi place whenever I come home.y favorite is the baked lobster roll.
Bad customer service and slow service. I ordered a Sugoi Sushi they told me 20 mins and when I get there they make me wait almost an hour so I ask for my refund back. Next time be precise on the time. If you say 20 mins and then I will at least expect that time limit. Never coming back again thank you for wasting my time.

For a sushi joint out in a small town, this is pretty darn good. I wont say this is the most phenomenal sushi ever, and its not necessarily sushi that stands out specially, but again its pretty decent sushi overall at pretty standard prices. Definitely worth a stop by if passing through town here.

Salmon sashimi is awfully cut and is not fresh. Korean fried chicken is worse than those microwaved chicken nuggets from Wal-Mart. Fried rice is apparently cooked with bagged veggies rather than fresh one.

2023-11-01 04:57:31Sucks that they didnt have wifi, but the server was super attentive and friendly! I got the VEGAS roll, super yummy! And, my brother got the Cajun Tuna, which looked really good as well! It a bit pricey, but I would def return in the future.

2023-09-20 12:15:31Great sushi spot for the town! It is pricey, but worth it for a treat. Food is always good and fresh, plus their service is always attentive and fast. Weekend evenings tend to be packed so I recommend to order take out or expect a wait.

2022-09-28 01:43:42Surprising to find a good sushi spot 🍣 in the middle of no where Los Banos. Fresh prepared, good temperature, not to much rice, right amount of vinegar, and good fish. The Hamachi Kama... was sooo good. Open seating and clean. Kpop music videos on the screen. 4.5

There will be clear commands. Left or right! If you know anything about Japanese cuisine, dont go here! Spoiled time… Lost money… I made an order here, with prayers I will live until morning…

2023-05-16 21:05:42This place has amazing food and the service is top notch 👌 Best place to get sushi in town by far. The only con i can think of is Sugoi closes from 2 to 4:30 during the week. I like eating lunch around that time so its kinda inconvenient.

2023-07-22 18:33:56Dont get weird because it is sushi in Los Banos. And you Gen X locals, forget that it used to be Mountain Mikes when we were kids. When you walk in, its like another land. Its lovely inside, wait staff are so cordial, and the sushi is oh my gawd so good. Just do it!*also, try the bulgogi

2022-02-13 15:08:22Came here with some friends we were visiting. Very good sushi! Excellent service! But if your coming for dinner get here early, it gets packed fast. The rolls are big and very yummy.
