This place has the best rolls in town. No kidding! The best! You’ve gotta give it try, it’s one of a kind. So crunchy and so super flavorful. The house sauce is just perfect too. So good! Bonus points: it is also a beer bar. They do have a good collection of beer for you to enjoy. I personally love their white beer the most, it is smooth and always refreshing. Plus the outdoor patio is kind of cute. I love coming there with friends and just grab a bite. I recommend this place!PS. There’s a parking structure for the entire plaza, it’s complimentary. Enjoy!
Always a busy and popular restaurant. We ordered 40 rolls for a scheduled pickup. On our arrival, our food was delayed due to the busy nature of the business. I didnt complain because sometimes these things happen. The boss recognized the issue and offered me an adult beverage (Im 55) while I waited! I happily accepted and didnt have to wait much longer. Stand-up actions from an honorable person! Thank you.
No indoor seating here, just a covered patio with tables specifically for this restaurant as well as outdoor seating which may be used by anyone. One tip, bring some cleaning wipes to clean the table if you plan on eating in the patio. I’m not sure if they normally clean them when customers switch out. It wasn’t happening when we went and the workers were all busy. They did have a cleaning spray available for people to use but it seemed watered down. I’ll definitely bring my own wipes next time.The food was good. I’d definitely come back again. We tried the pork rolls and the chicken rolls. The dipping sauce that comes with the chicken rolls is spicy in a good way.

Summer Roll in Temple City has recently reopened its main dining room after three years of offering only take-out service. The menu is still as extensive as before with some exciting new additions. During a recent visit, I had the pleasure of trying out three dishes, including the signature dish Nam, Banh Mi sandwich, and Grill Pork with Broken Rice and Steamed Egg.The Nam dish is still as delicious as before, with a crispy skinny egg roll inside. However, the standout dish for me was the Grill Pork with Broken Rice. The pork was well seasoned and incredibly tasty. It was undoubtedly my favorite dish.I also had the opportunity to speak with the owner, who has been running the restaurant for a long time. He was very friendly and clearly puts his heart into the food. He created a delectable special sandwich that was out of this world. Instead of using the traditional French baguette bread, he used Italian ciabatta to add more texture to the sandwich. The sandwich included trimming eggs and their signature Nam, and it was truly heavenly.I was pleasantly surprised to see that the prices have remained pretty much the same as before the pandemic. The lunch and dinner hours are always busy, so I recommend getting there early to secure your table.Even without my recommendation, this restaurant is already well known with a reputation for good Vietnamese food. I would still highly recommend Summer Roll in Temple City for anyone looking for authentic and delicious Vietnamese cuisine. The reopening of their main dining room has only made the dining experience better, and I cant wait to go back and try more dishes on their menu.
My top craving!! We always get the rice plates or the spring rolls~ So delicious! Their portions are pretty big too. I love the sauce for the spring rolls! with the spring rollsI’d suggest to call in before you go or you’d have to wait a bit. There’s always people waiting every time I go pick up my food. The staffs are so nice too! Rosemead location closes Wednesday. Temple city location closes Monday. This spot is my first recommendation when people never know what to eat.
Definitely overated by reviewers, foods are very plain, cold, nothing special and below average in taste, except the rolls are ok, just ok though.Its now a togo type restaurant and priced well above average in San Gabriel valley.Mood for vietnamese foods? Theyre plenty of options around and very close by, choose another one.

Great beer selection on draft, I was pleased and surprised. Given the location I was shocked to see how open their layout was. It is a little cramped when the place is packed but if its half full /half empty its actually pretty awesome. TV in place for you to watch a game. Roll up door / window make the space feel bigger. Outside seating is nice, especially with a couple of heaters. Parking isnt the best, nor is it the worst.
Summer Rolls probably has the best Thit Nuong outside Vietnam! Its Cafe Sua Da is also very good! ❤️Unlike some Vietnamese and Chinese restaurants, this restaurant doesn’t give you onions and bean sprouts when you tell the server that you don’t want them. 😂
Ordered Steam rice cakes shrimp powder croutons fried in shrimp oil, charbroiled pork nem w/ shrimp egg rolls, and a thai iced tea. Tastes great, price was good too (menu prices accurate at time of visit). Portions were very filling and ideal for family style. Service was fast, order and paid at the counter first. Outdoor seating during peak hours was ok, first come first serve but manageable.
There were not many selection but overall the food is decent but with a bit of the sweeter side of the taste. However the service is extremely lacking. We ordered two dishes, the first dish took about 15 min and the second dish took additional 30 minutes. During the middle of the wait, I even acknowledge their server about the missing dish.
Omgggg this place is an institution. #5, the banh mi are our go to! Also I always get the fish sauce with some Thai chili in the sauce with the rolls.Literally crave this place all the time. It’s so good! The Rosemead location is our go to but the new location is nice for the outdoor dining and they also serve alcohol. There’s also a nice Taiwanese dessert place and a bakery next door which makes it pretty convenient.
Main complaint (service):Friend ordered #20 vermicelli noodles but the server misheard it as #23 Bun bo hue. When the order came we tried to correct her but the server insisted that my friend ordered #23 and acted really grumpy. Really really terrible attitude. I gave them a 2 since the other servers seem okay and over all the food was pretty decent and portions are fairly generous.I would have given them a 4 if this server was not this terrible.Ambiance:A blend of rustic and modern. Very spacious with a lot if seating.
I have started coming here since I found out about them also having the charbroiled pork spring rolls. They are another option for me when I am in the Rosemead area. My other go to is located in OC so depending where I stay I now have choices. This time I tried their charbroiled pork rice noodle bowl. For some reason I thought the taste was a bit bland to me, but the shrimp roll that came with the bowl was something I enjoyed. I think I will go back to the usual of ordering the charbroiled pork spring rolls instead of it be deconstructed in the noodle bowl.
This place is bomb. Stopped by to check this place out and Im sure glad I did. The young man who served me was friendly and helpful. He walked me through some of the items on the menu and helped me make a selection. I ordered the charbroiled chicken summer rolls and the charbroiled beef and rice plate. Both dishes were delicious and priced well. Ill definitely be back here the next time Im in the area.

The grilled meats are the main attraction here and it deserves the attention. The meats are seasoned well and grilled exceptionally well. The Bún thịt nướng the better and more modern version of the others out there. The egg roll that comes with it is basically a long stick of fried wonton wrapper with shredded shrimp inside which is a refreshing new take.Waits for a table can be very long, but maybe you can skip it by sitting at the bar.
Fantastic spring rolls, and they even have rare steamed rice cakes. Larger selection than the your neighborhood Vietnamese spot. Good craft beer pairings, too.

Yooo… what?! This place SLAPS. A friend and I were looking for a quick fix after our 2nd vaccine shot and decided to drop by. Very pleasantly surprised that the food here is AMAZING. Their rice plates with grilled pork and beef were both so full of flavor and that fish sauce is on point. They even have craft beers, which is different, but it works! A good IPA with some solid spring rolls, hard to beat that really.

Summer Rolls is the hipster, non-conforming cousin of any Vietnamese Pho restaurant. You will not find any pho at this Vietnamese restaurant. You will not find any egg or spring rolls here either. All you will find are vermicelli bowls, rice plates, summer rolls, and a plethora of Vietnamese beers, and this is exactly why Summer Rolls is such a great place.Ive been here multiple times and have always enjoyed the food every time.This time, my girlfriend and I came for a summer roll snack so we just got the #9. It also comes with 2 sauces and a small, but very spicy pepper. We absolutely destroyed it and left more hungry than we came.Summer Rolls is located in a very lively plaza and has plenty of free parking. They only have outdoor seating so I would highly recommend wearing clothes that cover as much skin as possible. Why? Mosquitos in the Temple City area are numerous and cause bumps the size of dollar coins.
Hot take: I dont like the crispy thin egg roll in their spring rolls. But Ill still eat them and give them 4.5/5 stars. Dont miss the sour Nem nướng.

Weve been eating at Summer Rolls since they opened this location .The hubby and I try to visit weekly for lunch. We have never been disappointed by the meals. Rolls and rice plates are out go to. Everything is tasty and the beer selection is excellent! The food coupled with excellent service keeps as coming back!
I use to go there for dine in. When I went there and wait for them to seat us, I saw a couple group of people just walk in and sit by the porch. I didnt know it was self seating. The service then went down significantly. And then the food quality went down. It was much different than before. I was wondering if the original location is still good with dine in.

The indoor-outdoor setup is awesome and I love that they have a rotating tap of atypical brews. The people there are always friendly and theyre not stingy with giving extra chili sauce, lolI used to live 2 blocks away so I would be in at least once a week. I usually get the lemongrass beef summer rolls but you really cant go wrong. Definitely recommend the banh mi if youre up for an Americanized twist!
So dissapointed to see their quality dropped. I used to love this place. I even ordered the rolls to bring a lot of parties and introduced this place to many friends. Yesterday I ordered two boxes of rolls. ASA open the box, we smelled very bad oil smell like almost indistrial oil kind of. I tried to cover it with their delicious sauce but the smell was too disgusting. After examining a bit, I find out the smell was coming from the fried shrimp roll pieces. I couldnt eat much but even that made me feel sick and naucious.Besides that there was a small plastic piece (looks like from some package?) inside of the roll. Maybe it is one of the bad day for me having these used-to- be my favorite rolls. But I dont think I will go back after this experience.
My go to order the is the Oh pork roll and the chicken roll and the bun Bo hue!One order of rolls is a complete meal for me even though people order it as a side. I always request they cut it in half for me and the sub the fish sauce with the orange sauce when ordering the chicken lemongrass roll!

Great place! Decent outdoor seating options as indoor seating is still closed at the time of writing (7/11/2021). No water served ATM sadly beyond bottled water, but ice in a cup is an option if you dont mind waiting for it to melt.

Best Vietnamese summer roll spot I know and the quality is consistently excellent. I go about twice a month and I cant say they make a poor tasting roll and I think Ive tried all of them! I especially love the traditional pork sausage one, the beef with lemon grass, and the chicken. As for the other traditional dishes, like bun and pork chop plate, theyre more like 3.5-4 starts. Come here for the rolls and beer!
Beef Rolls excellent very tasty and sauce just right, I was told about this Restaurant from friends who are Vietnamese. I thought why go to Orange County when we have Summer Rollhere. The rest of the menu looks very inviting.The staff were very customer friendly. Excellent service, it is nice to have a excellent restaurant in my neighborhood.

As mentioned on yelp. Food was decent but I am not too happy with the service. At first my boyfriend and I were very excited about trying a new place in this plaza. We have previously been to The Dive ( a restaurant in that same plaza) but wanted to try something new. The patio and vibe there is very appealing. However, our server forgot my food! It took close to ten minutes before he came to check on us. By that time he had, my boyfriend was more than half way done with his food. Also, my boyfriend noticed that he had never put my order in and was just placing it. If we would have seen a sincere apology and our server owning up to his mistake I probably would have not bothered to write this review. I get it people sometimes get busy and have a lot going on but at least acknowledge your mistake and try to do something about it.
The food here is definitely my go to for nem nuong. I love their banh mi which is a little bit on the pricey side but the flavors they have going on in it makes it absolutely worth the price. Their beer selection is great with many craft brews to choose from. I just wish the place was a little bigger as seating can get a little tight especially when it gets busy. Their spring rolls, egg rolls, and also grilled pork rice dishes are also always consistently good.👌👌

I ordered chicken but they brought me pork. Errors can occur but good customer service can many times mitigate the fallout. I took bites out of the food then told the waiter he brought me the wrong order. When food is wrapped up its hard to tell what it is. I thought it was chicken and then asked the waiter who agreed that it was the wrong order. He took my plate then returned and told me that since I had eaten into the rolls they would be unable to bring me what I ordered. I told him to take the food back and requested my check. I paid my tab and left. Im not too familiar with the cuisine offered here, but I been a loyal customer. I had eaten here at least 5 to 6 times. I felt betrayed that after so many times that I had enjoyed this local eatery they would treat me this way. Summer Rolls you just lost one good customer.

2nd visit- The best Bun Hue outside of Westminster. My wife said their Lemongrass beef bun is the best she ever had. Beer selection is incredible. This evening I tried an Icelandic white ale. Although this is our second visit in the dining room, weve ordered takeouts before. We tried all their rolls. All are excellent.
Great food and good location. Nice selection of beer. Their food menu is smaller than the other location but they do have a patio area and where we were able to bring two pups to chill with us while we ate.
Portion was small. They never check on you or ask if your food is okay.
What a great place for vietnamese food! They have a nice dining area, but theres no service. All orders are for togo only. Good flavorful dishes that come out promptly. They also have all sorts draft beer on tab as well. Btw, if you are here, make sure you try their summer rolls (unfortunately I didnt take a photo of it).
Summer rolls..... it’s the new Asian, not the Chinatown or valley Blvd, posh modern and delicious.Be prepared for the plaza to be packed, they have a parking garage.Now to the foodThe banh mi under the chefs special is a hit !!A unique take on a classic Vietnamese staple....the chibata bread and runny egg added depth to the sandwich. Very modern take on it.The vermicelli bowls with lemongrass steak or beef sausages are light but filling. Abundant beef and veggies and a good portion size fish sauce.The wifey loved it.For two bowls and the banh mi we dropped about $32They had pennyworth drink on hand which was refreshing after the meal and they have a very well stocked bar. Gunna have to come back with the guys for the beer!!!Overall the food was amazing and worth the drive from wilshire and western in LAWhat stood out the most was the customer service attentive and genuine. The gentleman with the glass during the Saturday nightshift was awesome checked up on us and was very help to the other folks that were coming in. The staff was engaging with people lover the food and beers and that’s something you normal don’t get. Definitely more then just food and beer here.Coming back to try the beef stew and rolls!!!

Good food but strange experience. Without a word, the owner (?) sat at my table and started talking to the people at a table next to me. I was only half way through my meal and decided to finish it quickly so that I could leave because I was uncomfortable with the situation. There was no privacy, no respect, no courtesy for me as a customer at this place. The person involved most likely did not realize it and I hope he would read this review and give some thoughts to his behavior. I would have given this restaurant a 4-star for food and ambience, but must deduct one star for the unusual table experience.
Friendly service and great food. The beef meatballs and the charbroiled pork meatballs summer rolls are killer. The shrimp roll appetizer is addicting. Dont forget to get a cup of ice coffee as well.
Love their charboiled pork spring rolls/nem nuong and house sauce! Service on the phone can be hit or miss. One guy I spoke with didnt know what nem nuong was xD but overall, I enjoy grabbing takeout here once in a while. Just wish that they have the crispy egg rolls like commonly found at other similar restaurants. Before the pandemic, I preferred the Rosemead (city) location because it felt more cozy so its harder to give this a full 5-stars for that reason as well :)
Yummy food, dog friendly patio seating . They even have beer !! Lots of bees when you sit outside though is the only downside. If you dont mind bees sitting on your food then its great :) a little pricey but the portions are big . Highly recommend trying their summer rolls !!
Great food although food menu is smaller than their other location. The selection of beers is what sets this location apart. Atmosphere is modern and there is an outdoor patio where one can bring dogs which we did.

Id give it 0 if I had a chance. Terrible service. Hair in food. Had to wait over 30 minutes for food and people at the same table had finished their food already. Food that wasnt worth the wait at all. All they had to do was grill the nam and steam the noodles. I manage a restaurant and its not acceptable to make excuses. Both Manager and Server making excuses instead of giving the best customer experience. If they dont care about their customers, what makes you think they care about their food coming out. And their system in the kitchen?? Doesnt make sense. They said each cook/prep has their own section. No teamwork?? One person is behind or slow and all those tables are screwed. Never coming back. And a lot of people wont be either.
I went here to order spring rolls to go as usual and the cashier, later I found out she is the owners wife demanded that I leave a tip. Ugh!! When u order to go, u are typically not required to leave a tip. I called the restaurant to complain and the gentleman explained that she was the owners wife! What the heck does that have to do with anything!! abousltly someone needs to teacher her proper edict, this isnt not Vietnam. This seriously left a bad taste in my mouth now I drive all the way to Mission and Rosemead to another location.
Worst rolls ever. I got shrimp roll and they put crispy shrimp tails instead of actual shrimp. The taste is awful and I have stomachache since then.

I have had very traditional Vietnamese food, this is not it. ITS MUCH BETTER!!!! If u want traditional, go visit Little Saigon. But if u want traditional with a new flare, must go to Summer Roll! The Spring Rolls a bit smaller but has more neat and very tasty! You WILL get full with one order. And the sauce.... oh man! So good u can drink it straight! I also recommend the Bun Mi, #5 on the menu. Its in a ciabatta bread, buttery and full of meat, veggies and sunnyside up egg!!!! Take out for now ir eat in the front patio. Sooooooo AWESOME! A bit pricey, but again... ur eating gourmet Vietnamese food! Oh and if ur lucky enough to get attended by the owner. He is SUPER SUPER COOL! Please try him out and keep his place alive, his food MUST continue and strive past this virus n hard times!

Summer Rolls is pretty good for what it is. Here, Vietnamese food is packaged into a restaurant with a very modern aesthetic (beer on tap!!). Of course there are a lot of more authentic-feeling Vietnamese restaurants in the area that specialize in certain dishes -- pho, com thit nuong, etc --, but I feel like Summer Rolls does a variety of items well enough that Ill crave it once a month.My favorite dishes at Summer Rolls are the ones that have their thit nuong in it. The meat is wonderfully marinated and pairs well with their rice plates, banh mis, and more. Even my dad likes the thit nuong here! Rolls are good and we usually always order atleast one order when we come with the family. Theyre also known for their banh beo, but from time to time, this dish can be inconsistent.I see some comments about summer rolls being a Brodard knock off -- I didnt know Brodard was the only place in SoCal that was allowed to make nem cuons lol. I will admit that Brodard has better rolls, but thats irrelevant since thats 35 freakin miles away. Overall, Summer Rolls is worth a visit if youre looking for satisfying Vietnamese food in a modern setting.

The first time they were made great the next few times not good, I like mint, basil, cilantro something that will give flavor, nothing in it and the price is the same, they dont think that if the food is not prepare with love people will not go back
Its cold outside, I wanted to get a hot soup bun bo hue.I paid $15, but the bun bo hue is cold like hell. Can you at least microwave my soup for 2 minutes?

This place is horrible. There is another place at Rosemead. Same restaurant name. At Rosemead, the taste better. They cook the meat and noodle or rice taste much better.
Excellent Vietnamese food, the ambiance is young and hip, service is fast and friendly. Great new find for me, definitely worth a second, third and fourth visit!
A fresh rustic atmosphere with great craft beers with tasty Vietnamese food with many sauces to choose from me personally I dont like fish sauce but the waiter was happy to bring me other sauces that I found really enjoyable this was the best Vietnamese restaurant that Ive been to so farThank you for the great experience.
Beverly hills price in San Gabriel Valley. There are many other good Vietnamese restaurants not too far away.
The summer rolls were pretty good and the rice cakes are unique... It is a little bit pricier than other Vietnamese places around though

The owner used to very friendly. During Covid 19 their service is horrible. They feel very uncomfortable but still open restaurants. They just care about taking money and dont care about service anymore.

I recommend Nam cuon, bun bo hue, and banh beo. They are so bomb and good. Best you can get in the 626 area, of course if you want better you have to go to OC. Otherwise this is good for close by.
The wait-list system is very inefficient cand confusing. Took like an hr+ to be seated and additional wait time for wrong order to be fixed.It was a Friday night.

Highly recommend this place if you like spring rolls or are in the are.I’ve been coming to summer rolls for years. I was introduced to them through their summer rolls and was blown away by how good they are. The sauce you dip them in is really good. I like to add a little bit of the chili sauce into it for a little spice. Vermicelli noodle bowls are good sized and taste great. Banh Mi was massive and tasted great. They have a good selection of drinks and beers. Parking in the plaza is terrible but other than that this place is amazing and I highly recommend it. Make sure to grab summer rolls #5!!!

2023-07-17 01:14:02I love this place. I usually just get take out but I would definitely recommend #5- the summer roll with pork and a crispy roll inside. Perfectly balanced with a delicious dipping sauce. It comes with 4 but even as a big eater, i was pretty filled with two. They said it would take two minutes but I got it right away after I paid! Also they have a delicious bun bo hue.

Toni, the manager of the restaurant made sure that our outdoor dining experience was nice. Amy made sure that we had everything we needed. Great food selection, nice atmosphere, fresh food. Would highly recommend.

The rolls were packed with various textures and the right amount of flavour. The rice noodles had perfectly cooked beef highlighted by vinegar and a pair of crispy egg rolls.Would definitely recommend!!!

2023-07-11 17:20:01This is a very popular restaurant and I have been there many times. Although it is popular, my family always manage to find a table or just wait a bit. I like the way they prepare the dishes, and the food tast good and with good portion too. Their service is good and pleasant. This place is not big so if you have a large party, you may need to split your party into different tables. It is not an upscale establishment, but I like the deco and the atmosphere it created.

MUST ORDER!! 🌟- Charbroiled Lemongrass Beef Rice Plate. For me, the beef rice plate is not as good as their pork rice plate. The beef is not as fragrant and flavorful as the pork 😢. My husband, who loves beef so much, also thinks that their beef rice plate is just an okay and prefers the pork rice plate.
