The hospitality from Tony is 100 percent, very courteous, he wanted to make sure that my stay while having my lunch is good. I recommend this restaurant! If you want high quality service, here is the place. The food is decent and taste is balanced.Suggestion: waiters/waitresses should be more proactive on asking if the dine in customers needs more water or any drinks.Overall 100!

This place is a gem in the eastbay that serves Japanese and Chinese food. Me and my wife visited for the first time on Wednesday, and the food, service, and restaurant were amazing. We even had the opportunity to meet the owner, Tony, who gave us some history with the restaurant and which dishes to try. We tried the generals chicken with combinations chow mein and 2 sushi rolls. Everything was amazing, this place is a must try if your out in Brentwood

I’ve been coming to this place ever since I was young in the food has always been great but a few nights ago everything went completely wrong. We got there at 4:30 PM and ended up leaving by 7 PM. It took us two hours to get our food because the waitress had completely forgot to even put in our order when we got our food. My role was Bert and crispy and my salmon was chewing gross. I was completely disappointed and I will not be coming back.

OMG! Where have Ive been? Ive been sleeping on this place! One late Saturday evening I was taking my son to Angry Chickz and I didnt have a taste for that at the time, I saw a place lit up and it said Sun Kitchen. My hubby said go check it out, and Im glad he did! I was greeted by Tony who had the best customer service ever! I told him this is my first time here what should I order? He explained that they cook Chinese & Japanese food. I told him Im in the mood for Chinese food. He gave me recommendations and I went with it. The spicy Mongolian beef was fire! The Shrimp fried rice was so dang good. Loved it Loved it Loved it!My only problem was that Im mad Im just learning of this place! Im definitely returning, looking forward to tasting many more of their flavorful dishes. If any time in the area please try this place out, its definitely a hidden GEM.

I would recommend this place if you are looking for a nice place to eat. It is not fancy but clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. Food was tasty but honestly not the best Chinese and Japanese food out there. I am really picky about this genre of food. It was enjoyable and a good value. If you are looking for a good place for oriental cuisine give it a try.

My friends and I had great experience here. We came here for the first time.Outstanding service! I can see Tony really wanted customers to have best time here. Indeed we had a lot of laughs and great time.Beside the service, food’s quality is important for us. All the dishes were pretty good. There was a salty fried fish dish but after asking for our feedback, they offered us another dish on the house. And the dish they offered was delicious.I am glad that we found a good Asian restaurant in Brentwood.

The food was great and so was the service! Everything was very hot and fresh, with quick food delivery. It was our friends 18th birthday and they brought her out a huge dessert while singing happy birthday and giving her and us all a chinese callender and teddy bear and rose toy. My family I come here on the regular because of the high food quality and great service. My favorite is the Brentwood sushi roll, my husband orders teriyaki chicken and tempura, he loves the shrimp tempura that had great flavor, yet not heavy. My son loves the shrimp fried rice. The staff work very hard to provide great service.

Tony and his staff made our meal absolutely above and beyond what we we expected. The experience was wonderful and everyone had great things to say across the board. Huge portions of food and highly detailed uniforms really transport you to a better place. The new upgrades to the bathrooms were a huge plus as well! Very cool looking dispensers and high end vibe!!!I will definitely be back!

I gauge Japanese restaurants by their fish quality. That being said, this is a great Japanese restaurant especially for the price (they also serve Chinese food too.) Was visiting a friend and stopped by for a quick bite. Ordered a sashimi combo (hamachi, salmon, albacore) and was surprised with how fresh the fish was and the thick cuts, especially for an area I wouldnt say is known for its Japanese or Chinese food.We also got their Salmon Lover roll (salmon on salmon on salmon), Lion King roll, and some albacore roll (forgot the roll name). All around $13-15.I cant attest to their Chinese food, but if its anything like their sushi and sashimi, Id probably get it next time too.

This place is great, but there is a particular server who is very pushy about the tips. I like to tip cash but the dude thought I didnt tip him since I didnt tip on the card, he made it a point to tell me I didnt tip him (which i did), it was weird. Other than that it was great, Id rather not go when that dude is there though.

I stay in Japan for 8 years and I will tell you this info! Japan doesnt serve broccoli Tempura or cucumber tempura. Also NO Ramen noodles with cucumber and mushroom. The Bento box was okay but the rice was dry Maybe it is good for Americans that have never been to Japan but people that have been in Japan before will tell the difference . In overall I was really disappointed I pay over $69.00 for one Ramen noodles soup, two Bento box and fry rice one large Beer kirin one orange juice and one coke and to tell you the truth it was not worth it. If you find yourself in Hayward,CA I recommend you to check out Tomadachi have Lunch or dinner and I guarantee you that you will see the differences.

I must say this place has the best Chinese and Japanese food, I moved to Discovery Bay almost 2 years ago, I tried several different restaurants, but this one is the very best, very fresh, best flavors, and so clean, the service is wonderful, with amazing staff. You might wait just a little longer to get your food, and that’s only because they are cooking it, after you order, and that’s why it’s so delicious 😋. You can certainly tell the food hasn’t been sitting for hours. Please try it, and hope you enjoy ☺️.

Since we relocated to Brentwood from Fremont, we were happy that we could find the nearby Sun Kitchen that serves variety of Asian Food. However, food quality and service have been inconsistent...Strength:1. Menu variety of choices2. Acceptable/ good hygienic settings/ seatings3. Reasonable priceWeekness:1. Inconsistent food quality, eg. Chow Fun is sometimes so soft /overcooked, like being re-cooked multiple times2. To-go boxes are terrible. Its difficult to open and prone to cuts. Suggest to switch to recyclable paper boxes3. Phone order taking is terrible except Tony who is the best among all. Other Asian ladies are really impolite and rushy with poor English. Why not use someone with better customer-facing skills at front desk?We hope that Sun Kitchen can invest pennies for the small improvements as suggested to gain dollars with loyal customers.

We came here a few weeks ago to celebrate a friends birthday. We all love sushi and we wanted to try a place we hadn’t been to yet. We heard great things about Sun Kitchen and gave it a try. We ordered door dash from here for dinner last night and it was absolutely terrible. Not only did it take an hour longer than stated when we ordered but the food was horrible and not worth the wait of $100 it cost us. The fried rice was just dried out steamed rice with vegetables added in. The Mongolian beef had zero spice to it and the pot stickers were raw in the center. We also got a few other items and could not eat any of it. This was acomplete waste of money and our time.

A family spot, a old friends spot, or possible significant person spot. You have a plethora of down time while you are here. Orders take some time to come to you, and you are not harassed by the waiter. A touch that is in Europe, ( with my experience, lived in Germany for 4 years) once you have your food you are left to your devices and company. I sat there and was hardly approached after we got our food. Feel free to flag someone down for service. Something I appreciated very much. Was able to have a good meal with an old friend and have some privacy. I did the sushi, he did another meal. Over all it was a great experience. Looking forward to try both menus over time.

I first tried Asian Bistro a week or so ago and I’ve already had my second visit. The Dishes they serve and hot and fresh with each visit. Our last visit we ordered Mongolian Chowmein, house fried rice and Lion king rolls (I believe that was the name of the rolls) everything was so good. The others were nice and treat us well. They also try to chase us out the door by pushing the bill early. Not sure i want to patron the business again. I went to this place a few months ago and walked out after waiting forever for someone to come to the table but thought I’d give them another shot tonight. The food was ok but the service was horrific. My durians wanted a roll with soy paper rather than seaweed and the waiter was annoyed and rude about it. He put plates down and my menu was in the way so he shoved it rudely. My friend had menu questions and he walked away in the middle of her question. It was all almost funny. To top it all of it’s a 100 degree day with smoke on the air and they weren’t running the AC. Maybe it was broken. Post a sign on the door stating this! Too many other good sushi restaurants in town to ever go back here!

They were trying to serve my family and I cold food, and when we let the waiter know he said the plate was warm on the bottom. Then we told him to grab a piece of meat from that same plate and said “oh I bring you new one”, after a few minutes of waiting he brought over the same plate and said he put it in the oven and that “nothing was done to it”, not sure what he refereed to this statement but why would you tell a family that nothing was done to it, when nothing should be done expect to cook a new plate like you previously said. This was a big red flag for us and we decided not to eat. They did remove it from our tab.The location itself inside doesn’t give you a good atmosphere of cleanliness. Won’t be coming back again, other better places in Brentwood that put you at ease when eating food.

Food is very good here. Like having choices for Japanese and Chinese food, though the presentation of the Japanese food could be better. Also dont like the flies that often are in this restaurant. You would never find insects flying about in a Japanese restaurant. I understund this is a duo cuisine and looks to be Chinese owned and standards are not as high but they should definitely find a way to kill the annoying insects. Other than that, the staff is excellent.

Ordered soup, sushi, pasta, potstickers. Soup was too thick and tasteless. Upon question asked whether everything was good we informed the waitress the soup was not good and we had 3 bowls out of 4 full. She said let me check and never came back with a solution. Later we were handed over the bill including soup cost. The soup cost was small so I did not want to argue about it. I dont was just hoping restaurant would think the same way and take that off the ticket to keep the customer happy. Disappointed.

I do not enjoy giving bad reviews. I have a vast history of positive reviews and this is my first negative. This place is getting one star because the hostess was so kind and efficient. The food was disgusting. It was poor quality. The server was rude and abandoned our table mid meal. I have no idea why they are even in business. Chewy meat, opaque chicken, bland and even offensive. Worst food experience Ive ever had. Food was average, nothing mind blowing. It started off ok until I realized everyone else I was dining with was half way done with their food before I had mine. Not to mention me and my father order the same exact thing. So I proceed to ask the waiter (who was 2 tables down having lunch with half the staff) about my food and when was it coming. He acted like he didnt know I ordered it when I clearly see him write it down. Oh and when I asked for a refill I was pour water into my glass when I clearly said Sprite. In conclusion, I heard this place shut down before, they should have stayed shut down.

We had door dash deliver about 6 items.The fried rice and chow main were delicious. The edamame was also good, but they should mention on the menu that is has garlic in it.The filling in the pot stickers was decent, but the dough was thick and not cooked well.Lastly, but probably my biggest issue, my avacado roll came in the same box as my fiances deluxe california roll, I do not like fish and the two rolls were mixed up together. Also, they must be using cheap seaweed, as it smelt like they rubbed a rotten fish on it, I didnt even eat it.

Im not a big fan of these combo restaurants (Chinese and Japanese) as I my belief a restaurant should concentrate on a cuisine they do best. But, Mikado is an exception; they got it right.Mikado offers a good blend of Japanese and Chinese food. Granted theyre not a perfect 10 for both cuisine, but theyre very good with both worlds. This place does get packed and for good reasons.Their Chinese food, dont expect Kois Palace quality but then again you dont pay those prices. Theyre food comes out pipping hot and you can see the Chef is obviously showing off his wok skills. One of my favorite is their garlic fried rice. It adds a new taste dimension to a common dish. Their mini Bok Choy with garlic sauce and Peking Pork Chops are excellent comfort food and Mikado knows how to make them.Their other world is an interesting experience. Weekdays are fine for your everyday sushi fix, but for a true Japanese adventurous experience you have to go there on the weekend. The sushi rice was lacking the sushi rice vinegar but the fish are fresh and presented nicely.Staff here are top notch and not something you would expect from a small bistro. They frequently check up on you and there were times when we mentioned the food was a bit salty and they automatically took it back and had another one made. For their sushi (unless you like whats in their menu)I suggest you let them make the recommendations. Theyre honest about whats fresh and what to avoid.

I’m not sure if it was the ice cubes or maybe old dish water but there was a moldy smell to our drinks no matter if replaced with “fresh ones”. I don’t have a strong nose whatsoever but it was pretty distinct. We ordered a lion king that was forgotten, which is chill things happen, arriving over cooked. We tried to make it work but it wasn’t edible. Sent it back and asked for something different. Well poor guy who forgot, his boss scolded him in front of the entire restaurant. And it was loud. We used to order take -out from here all the time to be delivered, it used to take 45 mins and food was lovely. This is probably one of my favorite restraunts in town. the food is amazing the spicy dragon has a great presentation as well as the golden pheinox which are both incredible. and the fish is always fresh and exotic, and if you dont know what to get the owner is sure to treat you with a nice surprise. the service is great always quick and the never just leave you and not pay attention theres always someone walking around and checking on you. hands down a four star restraunt dont believe me see for yourself! :)
