The food is always great here, my only regret is not switching tables to avoid the crass drunk friend of the owner excessively loud yell talking the entire time which basically distracted me from the true dining experience that I know Sun Cafe is. I only have myself to blame, but so grateful this place still exists and provides a humane dining experience. The raspberry lemon cupcake for my birthday was divine!!

So this USED to be a stellar spot. the smoothies arent what they used to be. weirdly too sweet, not a great flavor. thats of the *kale favorite. and I think I just paid $30 for the blandest poke bowl ever known to mankind. I pray for the white people in the kitchen to grown tastebuds, maybe take a course in cooking Pacific island/Asian food. my white friend saw the photos and balked. no flavoring?! it was like I was invited over to my friends houses in 6th grade and found out why they all hate veggies, all over again. anyway best of luck! sadly no longer a fam fav

Mixed experience here. When you enter the parking lot it doesnt seem like much, but there is a really nice outdoor seating area with a fire table. A lot of outdoors green plant and easy atmosphere. Indoor is open and nice as well. The menu had lots of selections of vegan veggie choices. The server was nice. After our order things went south. We ordered an appetizer and 2 drinks. ( drinks are smoothie types) For the price point the appetizer was just ok. ( menu is pricey) but the drinks never came. Other people deliver the food and drink but the server never checked back in on us. Since our time was limited I got up canceled our drinks and asked the server visiting with his Co worker for the check. I am on the fence about visiting again.

The service was great! We tried the truffle pizza, mini nachos, mini Mac and cheese, and the cacao nibs coffee milk shake. Everything was just brilliant. The pizza especially is a must try, and so is the milkshake. Definitely must try.

Vegan restaurant - not what I expected - in a good way! I chose to dine here as the menu sounded fresh and tasty but I didn’t realise it was completely vegan and I’m thankful for my oversight because all the food and drinks were fantastic, very tasty! I would absolutely return here and have already recommended it to a vegan friend.

The avocado toast is delicious! The ramen is very fresh and so pleasant. The risotto’s flavors are on point and the cashew sour cream very good.We’re not vegan and we love it. I’m gluten-free and stoked to have SO many options and delicious homemade breads here.Our waiter Adam is wonderful: friendly, knowledgeable, fast, warm, and helpful to the extreme.Will come back! I actually worked at the Staples down the street a few years ago and got to print out the menus for this place! The owner is very kind, and the seasonal menu rotation keeps things feeling fresh.I finally got to sit down and eat here today! The food was incredible, the vibes were immaculate, and I would absolutely recommend this place for a chill Sunday brunch. The vegan food is delicious. Definitely recommend the mac and cheese because it’s very hearty :)

Very spacious and the atmosphere is nice! Food is good, but too expensive and it makes me wonder if coming here and spending almost $100 is worth it for vegan food?I know tips are optional, but they ask for 20-25% tips which is too high.Also, everytime I visit, the bathrooms are always dirty. Do they even clean them? I suggest to separate male and female bathrooms. Have some respect for females that are not comfortable using bathrooms for all genders.Will I come back? Probably not. Too expensive. Bathrooms are dirty. Workers are nice.

I and my partner visited this place right after our universal tour. This place beat all expectations. Great outdoor decoration, perfect for a date or otherwise.We ordered the crab cakes, daring pot pie and lasagne. All of these dishes were exceptionally tasty. The staff was warm and welcoming.I am vegan and visit a lot of vegan places in different cities. This one is easy one of the best. Kudos and thank you for the food and service. This place is so good we drive from Santa Monica! Make sure you go with someone else because you are going to want to order multiple items to try. Although it’s vegan and a lot of items are gluten-free, it’s not oil or fat-free! So just be aware. With two juices two entrées and dessert it comes out to about $60-$70 per person with tax and tip. I would eat here again and would recommend especially to a vegan foodie.

We were ignored the entire time there. I had to go up to the front to get sonething ordered as our waiter was never around. Other waiters were sitting and laughing with patrons but we were left alone. The fettuccine was chewy, which was a surprise. The muffin was dry (maybe because it was end of day?). The bathroom was not clean, so I cleaned it a bit for others. I wanted to tell someone but we were never approached except for boxes and what was the tip I was going to leave. We normally love vegan restaurants and it was our first time at this one. We will most likely not return.

Absolutely loved this place. I wish we had one in Phoenix. My husband has MS and there were items he could actually eat here based on the diet he has to follow. We were able to customize our order to his needs ❤️. The staff was very helpful in explaining what certain drinks and entrées were made of. The smoothies were hands down, my favorite. Cant wait to go back and try some more things here.

Excellent vegan cheeses here on the dishes I’ve had! Highly recommend the tempeh Reuben sandwich - super flavorful and the cheese is amazing. The chocolate peanut butter cupcake was also delicious. The Caesar salad was ok and the lasagna was a bit disappointing due to the odd-tasting red sauce. I would not order those two again, but overall a really nice vegan spot! Will definitely be back for more desserts and the rueben!

One the best organic and vegetarian /vegan places in LA!And its not just the menu thats expansive, but also the dish designs. So while you may order something that arrives on a classic round plate, but then your buddys food could be in a square, and maybe that side dish is an oval.Rectangle shaped? You betcha! Diamond? Service was slow. I wasn’t jazzed that I had to stand around for a while before I was even acknowledged. But, the food is damn good! Get the nachos, you’ll thank me. The French toast was divine as well… with apple on top. Ugh. So so good.Skip the cakes on display. They look mighty fine & decadent but, they are too sweet. Id say its a nice interior and especially the plant by the entrance outside is impressive. The service is not the strongest part of the place. It seemed that they try to battle it but not really having it under control. And the restaurant was not full at that moment. I think Iwas glad to order just food to go yet I had to remind them that a part of it is missing. The portion of mashed potatoes was not big at all, it was kinda ridiculous. The gravy was very tasty and everything of my order was good too. It was a bit overpriced experience tho. I wish them to improve this impression. Thank you anyways!

Gluten free chicken and waffles looked pretty sad. Tasted ok. They didn’t give me enough syrup so the waffles were dry. The waitress never checked on us so I couldn’t ask for more. So I ate a sad chicken that looked like rubber and dry waffles because they try to skimp out on syrup.I had to go to the counter to get a check.They also don’t know how to make cappuccino’s correctly so it comes out with no froth.I spent about $70 on this. I’m writing this review because far too often people and complain when something is wrong, but I wanted to acknowledge SunCafe for having absolutely delicious vegan and many gluten-free options, answering their phone, and having kind knowledgeable humans to answer questions, offering late night delivery, which is so rad, and lastly, really nailing to go food in a thoughtful way that it arrives to you deconstructed, so that nothing is ruined or soggy. yes, their items are a little bit expensive, but it’s well worth it the quality and taste are absolutely 10 out of 10

Their menu got me so excited! I ended up getting both a Margherita and a Baked Lasagna. The pizza was really interesting and very tasty but the lasagna was weird. Top three spots in LA, hands down. It can get overwhelming to decide where to go to eat... Until you come here.Every time were in town we make it a priority to come here, whether its for brunch, dinner or lunch.Ive never had a bad meal here. I ordered the Nachos with a Strawberry Shake and a Portobello Burger.The meals seemed overpriced... but, it is a large quantity- especially the nachos, so share it if you can! Overall in the meals: nothing really stood out, taste-wise, besides the portobello mushrooms- they were smokey and aromatic, delicious. My favorite part of the order, was the Strawberry shake. I come here for two of my fave guilty pleasures 1. The Shamrock Shake (see picture) and 2. The keylime pie. The rest of the menu is hit or miss for me- love the jackfruit “sea cakes” and some of the pizzas but other dishes like the ramen are terrible in my opinion (got talked into adding it to my take out order only to throw the whole thing out when I got home bc I couldn’t stand the salty terrible broth), Mac and cheese not worth the calories and the pizzas are pretty good but quite spendy- depending on the time of day the parking can be really a pain, but the dining experience especially outside is nice.I stick to take out of my faves and bring my vegan out of town guests here when I get a chance.

Whether you opt to dine in or place an order for pick up, you cant go wrong with this place.There is a sense of tranquility as soon as you enter the lot. On the outside, it looks like a quaint, charming home thats been converted into a heaven of vegan food. The outside dining area is cute and hidden away from the view of Ventura Blvd. The employees have a certain calmness about them. Theyre attentive and nice, a welcome change from the Im just here to get paid attitude you encounter at a plethora of LA restaurants. The interior is cozy with a unique setting. Who knew you could escape the madness of Ventura Blvd and still be on it?The food is top notch and consistently delicious. I havent tried many of their drinks besides the smoothies which are filling and yummy.I know a lot of people who arent vegans that have really enjoyed the food which gives me hope that with time, more places like these will pop up and give rise to even more cruelty free food options.

Skip the impossible or beyond meat options and try food thats completely natural and your body will thank you for.Sun Cafe is tucked away on Ventura right off the 101 and where Studio City begins. Sitting outside surrounded by cute plants and shade is probably the best place to be, but they have just as much room inside if youre not feeling the weather. They boast an amazing selection of organic wines, fresh cocktails, beer, teas, coffee, and a pretty diverse vegan menu with constantly changing seasonal specials and desserts.(I would come back just to have some of their drinks!)We had a pretty good taste of their menu with a raw cream of mushroom soup special, their colossus kale salad (without raisins,) their signature tempeh burger, and ended it off with a raw vegan key lime pie.Everything was delicious, and every plate we saw go by to other tables looked just as amazing. Our server Brittany was pleasant and the atmosphere was as light as the menu. Definitely will be coming back.

The food is absolutely delicious, not to mention how many options are available to accommodate my gluten free needs. We ordered the nachos (half corn chip, half jicama chip), the colossal kale salad and the BBQ cauliflower for the two of us. We enjoyed everything and ate as much as we could. We took home enough food for lunch tomorrow. Needless to say, the portions are quite generous. As far as hygiene and distance go, we sat quite far from the other diners, previewed the menu on our phones (barcode is on the table for quick menu loading) and made note of the gloved and masked wait staff. All in all, a satisfying meal in a safe, comfortable and beautiful patio environment.

Im on a cleanse and my friend is a model.. Very LA and very cliché of us, I know, but SunCafe was a perfect choice for us both. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and was able to steer us in the right direction with all of our restrictions. We shared the lettuce leaf tacos which were really tasty and loved that it was soy free. The zucchini lasagna came with a kale side salad. And for dessert we had the blueberry cheesecake. I’ve been here several times, and it’s generally been very good. I don’t know if it’s because there are new owners or what, but it has changed.The portions are very small, very expensive, and did not taste all that good. Buffalo cauliflower, an appetizer, is priced as an entree. It’s about $20 for a narrow plate of cold pieces of unbreaded cauliflower, soaked in a watery buffalo sauce.The pizza was very small and did not taste like much besides dough.Mac n’ cheese was still good, but again, is very small for the high price. Just shy of $100 for those three items, and we all left hungry.The ambience and service are still good! Unfortunately that’s not enough to bring me back, as I just feel sort of ripped off.

My friend had a cauliflower steak Cauliflower Steak, seared with a house-made marinade and sauteed garlic green beans and seared red potatoes. It was really good. HOWEVER, I had Jackfruit Sea Cakes Over Lemon Basil Pasta. Jackfruit cakes over lemon butter garlic gluten free brown rice spaghetti with basil and sautéed mushrooms that was garnished with capers, chives, house sour cream. THAT WAS GREAT! The slight tartness paired with the sour cream was very pressing to my palette. There could have been a little more spaghetti.For dessert we shared an apple skillet: apples, maple, cinnamon, topped with oats & coconut ice cream. I loved it, but the ice cream was about two teaspoons full.I feel like I have to be as honest as possible in giving a good review. Thats why I included the small things that, for me, could make my experience 100%.I will definitely be coming back.

Ordered take out here. Basic order, nachos and a shamrock shake. Right off the bat was a large fan of the lucky Irish smoothie, the occasional crunch of cacao nibs really was the difference between 3 and 4 clovers. However, I was unusually surprised to find the ingredients to a plate of nachos in my bag. Not a finished product, but a sort of grocery checklist for vegan chos. After I cooked it all in the oven I will say they were fully loaded nachos. The cheese is vegan and made from sunflower seeds which tasted wholesome. The food is pretty good although you may find some things fairly oily. But this defeats the purpose of buying food from a restaurant. I didnt buy a desk from IKEA, assembly should not be required. On top of that the suggested tip option was 20%. Pretentious. And if youre sitting there thinking, who orders TAKEOUT nachos? Youd have a pretty valid point, but this is America. My disclaimer- Im not vegan.SunCafe is a cute restaurant, with a nice indoor and outdoor seating area. After spending a few minutes determining the best item for a non-vegan and consulting our server, I landed on the January special, a Hawaiian Pizza. At $18, a vegan pizza is hard to justify, considering the cost of ingredients and comparable vegetarian pizzas and non- vegi ones as well. From a non-vegan perspective, the pizza was not great. I barely go through two slices, leaving the rest behind. The pizza was on the dry side with way to much cilantro (which is usually not on Hawaiian pizzas). The taste overall was just off, tried drowning the taste in a vegan ranch sauce with some hot peppers, but it didnt work. Unfortunately I wouldnt recommend this item for someone whos willing to give vegan food a shot, but if you were going to SunCafe consider a different item on the menu.

I really wanted to like this place because it’s very close to my work. And although I do eat meat, I really appreciate good vegan and vegetarian food. The problem here is, the food just wasn’t terribly good. It’s super cute, great wine selections (and healthy pours), and the service was really friendly (if not terribly attentive). But most of the dishes we ordered were pretty mediocre. The Buffalo cauliflower appetizer was disgusting, and the lo mein, ramen, and tempeh stir-fry were all pretty bad. Been here twice and each time it has been special. This sunday morning I got a cacao shake which was super tasty, followed by a mini skillet quinoa vegan mac & cheese. We ordered 3 dishes that we felt we HAD TO TASTE: Supreme Nachoes, Mac n cheese, and noodles with mixed veg (I dont remember the exact name of the dish). We loved each dish. I never order nachos, but the cheese sauce made me almost .. almost consider licking the plate!! I also lived the mac n cheese. My friends fab was the noodle/veg dish. I felt I could duplicate the noodle dish at home, so I wasnt so impressed with it. THEN .. we ordered dessert... OMG!! We ordered the blueberry cheesecake! It was amazing!! It wasnt too sweet and the date & pecan crust was to die for. Needless to write .. I cant wait to eat @ SunCafe again!!

I love this place!A little hidden gem in the middle of stodio city.I usually come here for brunch.I start of with there famous half and half raw nachos, which are delicious!For the main course I get the vegan omelet, stuffed with spinach, mushrooms and tomatoes, topped with avocado, yum!And my friend usually gets the smoked carrot, dill and cream cheese bagel (its gluten free) and its absolutely amazing.Even though we didnt have anymore room We still got dessert, 2 small glazed cinnamon rolls.This place is so good! I paid $16 for a waffle and my girlfriend paid $17 for the all American skillet, neither dish would be quite enough for two people to split.The food was incredible tough, you wont be disappointed in the food. Our server was really nice and friendly to us and our dogs (outside seating only for dogs). The atmosphere outside was pleasant with lots of greenery and some various decorative focal points like fountains and the wishing tree.Solid recommendation on this one but Im keeping one star because it was so dang expensive to eat there.

My only complaint is that it’s open seating and I was not told that when I walked in, so I watched as people who got there after me got seated before me. At first you may think to yourself, “fourteen dollars for a shake!?!?!!!!” But lemme tell ya… the Sweet Kale Shake is worth it. It seems to be a very popular spot despite my personal feelings. I think it helps that they have a bar. You can tell it’s fresh and homemade.. the cheese sauce is amazing.Next had the mashed potato with gravy, Caesar salad, and split the white truffle pizza with my sister. Everything was soooo good. Especially the mashed potatoes, you can’t beat that mushroom gravy. My family also got some delicious entrees. The mushroom bolognese was so incredible. The mushroom had a perfect steak taste. Really good food! This place has a good variety of raw and cooked food (all vegan) and everything Ive had here has been tasty! Ive had the mac and cheese, the double stuffed quesadilla, baked lasagna, and the mint shamrock shake (with actual mint and not just a flavoring!). Staff is friendly as well. This use to be one of our favorite places to come to visit when we came to LA, but after this last experience on 9/18/21, I will not be returning ever. After getting seated someone came over more than 15 minutes later to ask about drinks. We got drinks and appetizers ordered, the appetizers came out, and then 15 minutes later our drinks finally came out. We asked for some ranch and jalapenos which took 10 minutes to bring out in this time we were waiting to eat the appetizer which got cold. We never got asked if we wanted to order more drinks even after seeing the drinks empty. We got our entrees and asked from some siracha which never got brought to us we had finished eating at that point. No one came over to ask who the food was or if we needed anything. So, at this point, we decided we can go somewhere else for dessert. We had to get up twice once to ask for siracha and second to get our bill because our table kept getting ignored and the surprising thing was it wasn’t even that busy. I wish we would’ve sent our $100 on food and service that treated us better.

I did not experience this food personally, I ordered this for my mother for Mothers Day. I first found out about this place on the Amazon prime app. I loaded up the cart with a huge food order, something came up at work before I could finish. I came back a short time later to complete the order and the app said the restaurant was unavailable. I checked the hours: they close at 3pm to reopen at 4. It was almost 5 as I kept trying for nearly an hour, the app said they were closed and I was unable to order. I called the place twice, they eventually referred me to a different place where I can order online. Man, am I glad I did. I asked to be sent pictures once her order arrived, it looked AMAZING. And my mother raved about how delicious and nourishing it was, and so filling for being vegan food. The star of the show by far was the BBQ cauliflower! Every time I have called, the place was madhouse busy, most of the reviews have been great, all very good signs, I am very happy I chose this place. The menu has tempted me to try it out for myself, it really looks that tasty. I cant wait to visit! One of my favorite restaurants in Studio City. Im not vegan, but the food is just so good that I go there whenever I can! Their shakes are amazing, and are almost a meal in themselves. But every single thing Ive ordered has been delicious.Also, if youre doing any of those nutritional cleanses, this might be one of the few restaurants you can actually enjoy! Came here for their happy hour recently. Everything we got was amazing! I had never been here before and I always heard such great things. I’ve been on a kick recently where I have been wanting to try new things, and I am so glad I did! We tried the nachos, mac and cheese, lettuce leaf tacos, and the bbq cauliflower. They were all smaller portions of food than normal they said which was nice so we could try a bunch of different things. Been to SunCafe 3 times now I absolutely love this place. But today my experience wasn’t so pleasant. I placed my order online and added to the notes what I would like added. Because it didn’t give the option. When getting my pizza and leaving I had to drive back because they had no toppings. Lucky I didn’t get to far because I live a hour and 30 min away. But I go back waiting about 7 min before anyone even came to the front. Explained that my pizzas didn’t have any toppings they pull up my order and say while where you up your toppings in at on the notes we don’t ever pay attention to that on orders. And we have to change for extra toppings I said okay, that’s fine. So as I wait in the front they come back with my pizzas after getting to my car and opening the pizza boxes i was disappointed because all they did was sauté my mushrooms, onions & bell peppers and threw them on top of the pizzas. So now I’m left with 2 cold pizzas that are messy with toppings just in piles on the pizza. Like they said you want your toppings here take your toppings. It’s disappointing to me because I am someone that is a loyal customer that spends at least $50 every time I come. Because I believe in supporting lil business especially in these times we are currently in. At least my juice and mud pie was right. Lol

Its all vegan and all organic. The patio area is quite beautiful. The restaurant has separate area for to go orders, so no need to walk around looking for where to pick up. The Mint Shamrock Shake is refreshing, with none of that processed taste. The mac n cheese was really good, but the bacon taste (from mushrooms?) was almost a little too real for me and I would recommend this for anyone trying vegan food for the first time..some vegan cheese dishes can taste funny, but this had no strange taste and was very creamy. Ive also had one of their burgers and I know I wont find another one that tastes better anywhere. And the mashed cauliflower and gravy, mashed potatoes and gravy couldnt try to taste this good.
