The lunch menu was nominally priced. It comes with the main dish, appetizer and soup. Serving portion size is good. We got Kung Pao chicken with spring rolls and Black pepper beef with crab cake. And Thai iced tea for drink. The service was quick, the place wasnt crowded. Highly recommend this place!

Lunch Specials price $11.80 for Kung Pao chicken which I think is $1 more than the menu taped to the widow by the front door. Still a good deal. Spicy, not hot. Vegetables lightly cooked, just right. Not mushy. Fried rice tasty, as was the soup. Fast service at lunchtime during the week in January. Tables outside so I could have my dog LuLu with me to enjoy sunny 60-degree weather. Some reviews mention change of ownership with decline in quality but I think the food is still good and the price reasonable. I’ve been here before and will return.

Tried to order by phone here, but when I looked up the number on Google at 8:30 pm on the dot, they were closed. What restaurant closes before 9 on a Thursday night, which is the night of the work week more likely for working people to eat out? I would rate the food, but we went somewhere else that stayed open until 10 pm local. 8:30 closing is laughable. I will review the food if they are ever open when we usually eat dinner. Which is between 9 and 10 pm.

Been here twice for lunch with amazing service! Both times the soup was out instantly and the food was at our table within 5 minutes. Everyone was really friendly and their cashew chicken is very good! You also get tons of food for a very low price.

This place is terrible ! Dont waste your money. Shrimp tasted bad in the wonton soup didnt even offer to take it off just left it there. Bathroom in need if some kind of new flooring or steam clean.

I enjoy the food here. To go orders come out fast. Salt and pepper calamari and Singapore curry rice noodles are the best.They have a couple dim sum dishes, ha gow and Shu Mai and a steamed chasu bun. I would rather get them at a dim sum restaurant but considering they serve it at all is pretty great, just not cheap. Itll curb your craving for a minute but I would hold out for going into South sac or further for your order. Call ahead of time if you do want to order it!

We made an impromptu stop here at noon on a Sunday. We had egg rolls, vegetable chow mien, Almond chicken, Lemon Chicken & egg drop soup. The egg rolls were yummy & on the petite side, which was perfect for an appetizer. The portions of the other items were very generous. The (almond) chicken was tender. The lemon chicken was not soggy. The broccoli & the zucchini & other vegetables were perfectly cooked ! The egg drop soup was very tasty, with small bits of corn which gave it a nice flavor. We were Very pleased with the food & will likely return. Our server was very nice. We dont go out for meals very often. The menu was a bit overwhelming so we just ordered things individually. We didnt really have an idea of just how much food we were ordering, (portion size clueless!), we just figured what we didnt eat then we would take home! English is our only language & my husband & I were trading rapid banter as we decided as went with the order, so my sympathies are with our server as we did not understand each other well, which resulted in a bit of a glitch in our ordering. We wanted a side of rice, but when it did not appear we knew we had communicated badly & decided to leave well enough alone. We did Not order the egg drop soup but did REALLY enjoy it. The food was great so next time well probably just order online to avoid any misunderstanding. {Side note: EVERY single time we have been to Habit, the completely English speaking staff, has gotten our orders wrong. Communication goes both ways & I have great respect for someone whose first language is not English-being bilingual is a huge achievement.

Incredible Chinese Food! My wife and I recently moved to Folsom and the first thing we always do when we move somewhere new is find the best local food spots. This is our absolute FAVORITE Chinese restaurant! The food is incredible, the staff is very friendly, and they are very fair on the price. Definitely stop by if you want Chinese food!

Sunny Gardens use to be my go to restaurant for Chinese food. Did not realize that they had changed ownership until I went back a second time from when this change took place and notice the original owner was not in the restaurant again. My meal had changed so much and paid quite a bit more, that I could not eat it. Threw it away. Have never been back again.

This place really used to be something great. Excellent food at fair prices, now a days it’s a lot more expensive and the quality of the food has dropped significantly. I found hair in my Shanghai Honey Chicken, and I believe they must have a new chef because the dish wasn’t at all as I remembered. It’s a shame, this was one of the best Chinese restaurants in the area, but it’s fallen way off.

My dish smelled and tasted strongly of seafood, which wouldve been great if I ordered seafood. However, I ordered the beef and broccoli with fried rice. So unfortunately the unexpected fish flavor definitely caught me off guard and kind of ruined it for me. Not sure if they used the same pan, spoon, etc.My boyfriend also ordered a non-seafood dish he really liked, so seems to be hit or miss!

This is the first time weve visited this restaurant. It was absolutely marvelous! Everything was so fresh and perfectly cooked. The Mongolian beef is fabulous! Spiced just right. The garlic chicken could have used some more seasoning but is loaded with fresh veggies, tender chicken and a nice, but bland sauce.The sizzling rice soup is delightful! The broth is perfectly refreshing and delicious. If you like egg foo young...oh! this is the place! Never had anything like it! Absolutely amazing! There are so many wonderful things on the menu I dont know if we will have enough time to savor them all! Thank you Sunny Garden! Well be back!

Used to be much better food. To go service was very fast, but dishes were over spiced. Mongolian beef was mostly onions and hot peppers, with less than 1/3 beef by volume. Very different from last visit about 6 months ago. Dry braised green beans also heavily loaded with barely cooked chopped onions, black pepper, and red peppers. No plans to return soon.

I used to love their chow mein and potstickers but now all the food was very bland, the chow mein had close to no taste and the potstickers were completely different, much smaller, and lacked flavor. The beef and chicken dishes also mostly contained grilled onions and very little meat. Pretty disappointed since I used to eat here often. This was my last time eating here sadly.

Since the ownership changed I’ve been less and less impressed, which is such a bummer since it is difficult to find good Chinese food. The service is friendly, but the gentleman is difficult to communicate with. I agree with another reviewer about the hint of seafood taste, which is not good when not ordering seafood. Even my fortune cookie was stale.

Best Chinese in the area! I havent found a better place in Sacramento, Stockton, or Modesto. I always stop at Sunny Garden if Im in the area. The prices are unbeatable for the quality of the food.Update 4 years after my initial review: they changed ownership, which including changing recipes. The food is bland and worse than Panda Express now. My family had a lot of good times at sunny garden over the span of a decade, and it’s sad that I’ll never eat those childhood favorites again, and that I’ll never be back. Anyways, any Chinese restaurant in Folsom is better than this one now.

Ordered General Chicken. It was brought quickly, but instead of General Chicken I got a short of sweet and sour chicken. It was way too sweet, I couldnt ate all. Its like this all is for people who didnt try original dishes. Original GC recipe states that the sauce should not be sweet, only a hint of sweetness. Staff was nice and friendly though.

Amazing, fresh food! I love this place and have been going for years! I drive all the way from Elk Grove after moving away from the Folsom area because it is that good. Heavily recommend the Popcorn Chicken appetizer. It is very tasty and unique to this specific restaurant!

The best Chinese Ive had for lunch in a while. When you ask for spicy they listen. Everything was excellent. There hot tea is loose leaf and had this subtle Jasmine and citrus flavor to it. The prices are very reasonable and the food is at your table quickly. Definitely give this one a try

Really amazing food. My husband ordered Orange chicken. Its lightly breaded thin slices chicken and the flavor is on point. Ill never eat orange chicken from Panda Express ever again. I ordered a pad thai type dish but cant remember what exactly it was called. The portion was definitely shareable. The flavor was delicious! This food did not make me sick at all (common for me with restaurants due to bad cooking oil) also I wasnt hungry an hour later. Give this place a try. Its excellent food and customer service.

Selection is good, some standard American Chinese dishes and some a bit more traditional. I chose the BBQ pork with string beans. The sauce was phenomenal! Even had black bean sauce, which I really enjoy, but dont see often in dishes. The price is right! The staff is very friendly.

I bought a $50.00 gift certificate for my neighbor -the end of July. Yesterday 11-3-2021 they tried to use it to have dinner at sunny garden restaurant celebrating their mothers birthday.Sunny Garden Restaurant would not accept the $50.00 gift certificate. The female manager was not nice infact very rude regarding the incident. My neighbor also stated the service was extremely poor! So please keep this in mind when trying to support small businesses in FOLSOM! This will be the LAST gift certificate I ever buy! I have eaten here a few times and it has always been good. Tonight I ordered orange chicken which was terrible. It was way over cooked and chewy ... so chewy I couldnt swallow it and gave it to my dog. The sweet and sour chicken was good. I gave you 3 stars because most of the time it has been good. My wife and I have chosen Sunny Garden several times before and found the food and atmosphere good. There have been two servers each time. The one we’ve always had is pleasant, friendly and seems happy to be there. The other one always seems just the opposite as we’ve seen her serve others.I just went in for lunch just now and was served by the second woman. When I placed my order, I used the number from the menu. I shouldn’t have.She said, “Don’t use the number.” Her tone was sharp. I asked why and she told me again to read it. So I did and she walked away.I realized I was technically wrong. Instead of having one item for Kung Pao Chicken and another for beef, the menu lumped them together as one. I had missed that and made her day harder.But, I thought for a second and realized she could have simply said “Chicken or Beef.”She brought the tea and I told her I was leaving and to cancel the order. She asked why. I said she hadn’t needed to be rude.The Folsom area has lots of places with Chinese food this good. None can afford to send us elsewhere with a sharp tongue.

Service was spot on. The food, however, was more hit or miss. The expansive menu offers a lot of common dishes found in other Chinese food restaurants, but not all of them are made well.Ive rated each dish at the bottom if youre looking for the simple review. Ill go into detail below.Starting from best to worst, we all enjoyed the fried meat potstickers we ordered. We also enjoyed the Dim Sum (ha gao). 2/2 of the appetizers we ordered were good enough that I do consider going back for just those.We also ordered two soups to share around the table. They give you a large quantity and the waitress even went back to the kitchen to get more broth without being asked! We ordered the Hot and Sour soup and the Chicken Noodle soup.The Hot and Sour was on the salty side, so we all could only stomach one small bowl of it. It wasnt terrible, the flavors are there for what a hot and sour should be.The Chicken Noodle, however... The broth wass watery, the chicken was bland, and the noodles were undercooked, giving it a unforgiving texture in your mouth. I dont recommend having this. I took home the large leftovers from this dish and put in some bullion and sriracha to fix that problem. HOWEVER: I really recommend against this and, honestly, wish theyd just cut it off the menu along with at least 50 other things that are just clogging it up.Onto the main courses, we ordered the House Fried Rice, the Kung Pao Chicken, and Oyster Chicken. The fried rice was not bad, but not great. The steak in the dish was a bit tough and unseasoned and I wish there was a tiny bit more flavor in it because me and everyone else had ended up pouring soy sauce over it.The Kung Pao Chicken was a mess. Everything was cut into cubes, which is fine until you look at all of it put together. They put whole, raw peanuts all over the top. It wasnt very spicy for our taste. All the veggies in the dish took on the same color as one another and it just looked very unappetising. Its edible, but I wouldnt eat it if I had the choice to.Oyster Chicken sounded like a fine alternative to the usual option of Broccoli Beef. The menu boasted that it was vegetable filled and covered in that amazing oyster sauce that the broccoli beef dish has. Well, the sauce was watery and lacked that oyster sauce flavor. Every component in the dish was not seasoned. Bland on bland, just like the Chicken Soup.Potstickers 7/10Ha Gao 7/10Hot and Sour 4.5/10Chicken Noodle 1/10House Fried Rice 5/10Kung Pao Chicken 2/10Oyster Chicken 1/10For its price, Id say only come here for the appetizers.If the restaurant reads this, please listen when I say to cut the menu down. Having a few successful dishes will likely bring back more customers than having a million mediocre to terrible ones.
