Sunshine Caf in Desert Hot Springs

Great find in Desert Hot Springs! Very affordable menu items, excellent and attentive service, and solid food. We had a window seat and enjoyed the natural light and mid-century vibes of the interior. Will definitely return next time we’re in the area.

I have come here a few times since moving to the area. I love the kitche style of the restaurant. I usually get a Reuben sandwich and its usually pretty good. Today however there was no consistency and I was very disappointed in my sandwich. Usually it should be grilled on the flat tops of the grill and the bread gets nice and crispy and everything is cooked together. Today I got barely toasted bread with a pastrami thrown on it, the bottom pieces of bread were so soggy. The bartender was new I think and much better than my previous visits. Great addition. Great pool area to here.

Although I ordered take out, I really loved the place. They didn’t mess up my order and the food was really good. The server that took my order was also very nice and recommended me different types of food. The place looks a bit old; however, it was well maintained.

This is a great place to relax and have a few cocktails. The food is delicious and a hidden gem. Mostly all homemade. Karaoke is available Thursday-Sunday weekly- no judgement zone 😉

Absolutely amazing!! Shoutout to Eddie(y) for his fantastic table service. You can normally predict how good the overall service would be (yes even how good the food will be) based on the initial energy brought by the waiter. He was charismatic and courteous. Every waiter usually asks if you would like to start off which drinks, to which we ordered orange juice. Without questioning or asking, he speedily brought us our drinks as well as - WATER!!!! Its the little things like this kind of special attention that a customer like myself, truly enjoys and makes the experience that much more enjoyable. The food was AMAZING!!!! It was calm and had a vintage ambiance. I think I probably lived a different life in the 30s - 50s because places like this just bring out the life and happiness in me.

We were told by people from both the Desert Hot Springs Hotel (Nadine) as well as the Miracle Springs Hotel (James) that we should try the sunshine Cafe for breakfast as it was the best in the area. We tend to take such recommendations with a grain of salt but this was definitely an understatement!!! We were seated and waited on by Ruby and she was one of the highlights of our stay. When you go here for any meal, be sure to ask for her as she will undoubtedly make your meal an experience to remember. Speaking of a meal, we had the breakfast with two eggs, sausage and bacon, home style potatoes and some of the absolute best sourdough toast we have ever had. Thick, toasted perfectly with lots of butter and Ruby even found us some blackberry jelly to top it off. The eggs were cooked to perfection and the potatoes with the onions and bell peppers were done equally as well. We only wish we lived closer as we would likely eat breakfast there every day. Again, as delicious as the food was, Ruby added so much to the experience with her incredible sense of humor and never ending smile. If we could, wed give this establishment more than 5 stars as it was one of the best breakfasts weve ever had....hands down.

Its dated, but looks remodeled. Friendly staff. Great service! Oriental chicken salad was tasty and good. Chicken was a little dry however. Fish and Chips were excellent! Fish fried to perfection. Fries were also fried perfect and seasoned perfect! Fast service. Iced tea was not fresh brewed and alright. Overall a nice lunch. Portions were decent size.

The interior is not the best looking place. However, the food was amazing and so was the service. Id classify this place as like a whole in the wall with great food.

Think greasy spoon or Mels diner! The employee drama was entertaining and the food is typical high-fat (delicious but not diet friendly). I recommend the bloody Mary! The waitress, Lisa, was very pleasant and went above and beyond by bringing extra toast to apologize for the delay with the food. My wife saw a cockroach in the bathroom even though the bathrooms were otherwise clean.

Off beat resort cafe with attached bar. Food is delicious. Service is great but staff can get overwhelmed. Always interesting people to watch.
