Tried this neighborhood place one afternoon when my mother in law was in town. Seating was ample although some tables were dirty. Took a minute for our order to get taken. Everyone was pleasant. Decent menu variety. I got the tofu rice bowl which I enjoyed very much. I’ll give this place another try in the very near future

This place is pretty decent. Came here for lunch with some friends during work. Walk right up to the counter and ordered our food. It’s a Japanese restaurant with a lot of Japanese items to choose from. We ordered the chicken karaage, house fried rice, Philadelphia hand roll and the sunshine ramen.The chicken karaage was pretty good but it isn’t not karrage. Yes it was lightly batter and fried but not at all karaage. The batter had too much pepper but the chicken was good quality thigh meat. The Philadelphia hand roll was also good, great quality salmon. The house fried rice was decent nothing special. And the sun shin ramen lacked umami. No tonkotsu flavor, kind of over powered by pepper.The service was good and the restaurant had a welcoming vibe to it. I’d like to try other items on the menu but the food was really just a bit better than good. Nothing special.

Visited for the first time for a late dinner. They have an expansive menu with many different Asian style dishes. Ordered a Dynamite roll and the house yakisoba. Both were served quickly and delicious. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

I ordered the Special Poke bowl to go and oh my gosh was it SO GOOD! I’m a huge poke fan and this one really did it for me. It was a really good size portion and was exactly what I was looking for. Tons of different toppings and the poke wasn’t fishy and tasted delicious. They had my order ready in less than 15 minutes on a Friday night. If I lived in the area I would be going back for this all the time! Also would definitely try the sushi rolls. Everything looked really good and fresh.

I’ve been a sunshine kitchen regular for a bit now. They have awesome service and great food. I really appreciate the staff and their honesty. The POS system was down the other day and unfortunately my order wasn’t sent through, not only did they work with me and get my food out ASAP, but they even kept in touch with me to make sure I got a refund on my card. This tiny little place is easy to overlook, but its a great restaurant that those who like poke should try. The quality of the food is great - everything seems to be fresh, of high quality, and very well prepared. Service is polite and friendly, and the place is clean as well. Weve tried two different poke bowls so far, both of which we loved; one tuna and salmon bowl, and the other a vegetarian tofu version. Portion sizes are very large, and shockingly inexpensive for what you get.

My God where should I even begin.Ive lived in Japan for two years and have tried many restaurants out there. Outstanding restaurants at that. And while the level is not as far as those out in Japan. They are very close.However, this restaurant is quite literally the best Japanese restaurant I have ever eaten at. I have never ordered, sat down and in 5 minutes my food is already prepared and tastes like i waited 2 hours for it. Its delicious and super filling. Not only is this the best restaurant in CA but I would wager its fighting with the best in the world. The sushi is delicious and the freshest tasting Ive eating in this area. The ramen is authentic and tastes like those same ramen shops I would frequent on weekends in Okinawa.Not to mention the insane prices. I mean Holy cow what are these low prices. Theres no way ramen and sushi this good costs only 5-10 dollars in the states. For this quality it would be upwards of 15-20. But I aint complaining. I love this place to death and it is my new favorite spot to hit up with the boys.

Small family owned Japanese restaurant in a strip mall. I unfortunately have only tried their sushi but for the price and the taste- I highly recommend.Ill definitely come back to try their combo plates and ramen but if youre in the area, its worth a stop by! Good food. The manager came out to help us with our order due to food allergies. We try not to be obnoxious with requests and they were kind to check with the chef. I had to ask for water a few times but otherwise service was good and fast. The yakisoba was good the next day. The chicken teriyaki was good the first and second day.

We ordered takeout and were absolutely delighted with every item we received. The fish in and on the sushi was extremely fresh and perfectly mild, the sauces were fantastic, and the sushi rolls were fairly priced. We also tried the takoyaki, chicken karaage, teriyaki chicken, and fried rice. I would order every single item again and will definitely be back to try additional food from this great restaurant!

I went there twice and the food is really good. I got oceanside roll 4/5 and deep fried california roll 5/5 I like the crunchy of the deep fried so I ordered it many times. I also tried sunshine french fries which the French fries also contain meat. However the sunshine French fries is more for two people because it only taste good a few bites and you start have that feeling of too much fries potatoes.Good service too! 🧡

TLDR: ramen broth has a good amount of salt.Spacious and pretty empty feeling at the moment--but then again they did just open.Menu is simple and has some images for few items. Drinks are from the fountain or you can get a can of Aloha Maid.Service: order and pay at the register, seat yourself, you will be watered, box your own leftovers upon request.Tempura: veggies are fresh but the breading isnt crunchy and is slightly spongy. Its not flaky and crispy.Tonkatsu Ramen: you only get half a hard boiled egg and it is cooked to well done--I usually prefer that soft gel-like consistency. Chashu pork is tender but it has too much fat in it--the meat to fat ratio is imbalanced. Otherwise, broth is a nice flavor and not overly salty; there is also a balanced noodle to topping ratio.Overall, nothing really stood out to me. Average ramen joint.

First time there. Cute location. Decent prices and food (only ordered 3 sushi items) was good. I prefer a little more mayo/moisture in my crab mix. This is our first visit there found the entire experience to be very amicable. Quick service, great food along with very reasonable prices!We do have a nice outdoor seating area which has made this shopping mall kind of step up to the plate with a nice bunch of eateries all in a row.Stop by sometime because Im sure you will really like it.

The food was ok, the only thing was the rude customer service. When I asked for my first ever refill as I was seated I was rudely denied by one of the waitresses, and another came and told me that I could have a refill but it would by my last, this was very surprising considering me and my family spent over $100 there. Just know that when you go into that establishment you will be greeted with rude and judge mental looks or actions.

Amazing little sushi place in downtown Oceanside. Very beautiful to see at night as they have a open window dining area and you can see the lights lit up of the town. Also, very great place to attend during the day as you can see the community as well. Very good prices for very good sushi. My husband and I have been here thousands of times since March 2020 to present. Parking can be a hassle as its located on the main road, but other than that 10/10. Definitely recommend.

The spicy bowl was my choice and it wasnt too spicy but just right. The fact that they have ice cream and sushi was perfect if I wasnt full. The sushi did look good though..Ambience wise: its a small shop. Fast food more or less vibe.. still good though.Service: workers were friendly and helpful.Price wise: the Sushi prices werent very expensive and the poke bowl was standard pricing..Overall, Im definitely going to come back when Im in the area. I got the Pick 2 bowl and a salmon skin hand roll.The owner/cashier was very friendly and asked me about what I wanted in my bowl since I was scanning the menu for awhile.Unlike other poke places I have gone to the menu is relatively set versus build your own. Not bad. If you have issues making choices this is perfect for you.

The udon is “very homey tasting” with a Tokyo style fish broth(dark soup and not salty) according to my Japanese wife. It was very good. I ordered a bento box and yellowtail handroll, it had a very fresh taste and the seaweed wrap was crisp. We were able to get some of our favorite drinks from Japan here too. Overall, highly satisfied and can’t wait to come back!

We went for an early dinner on Friday, ordered the Miso Ramen, Chicken Teriyaki, Monkey Roll and gyoza. The food came out quickly, the portions were large and the price was reasonable. The reason I only gave it three stars, the food was just okay, didnt hate it. Also it was really hot in the restaurant, so the doors were open and flies were getting in, which is just not appealing. I would be willing to go back to try other food on the menu.

Up and coming Japanese restaurant with very good taste and delicious cooking. Their rice is very well done and rivals the very best Ive had in more expensive restaurants. Ill visit again in the near future to taste more of the menu. The teriyaki chicken was much better than Surf Brothers and other Japanese restaurants in the area. You definitely have to get one and at a great price.

Called ahead of time to find out whether the tuna for their poke is fresh or frozen. Person who answered the phone said it was fresh. Picked up my food took it home and could immediately tell it was previously frozen or it was a really cheap cut of tuna. They did a good job defrosting it though. 👏

Checked out the new Japanese restaurant for lunch. Casual new place, pricing was ok. They had a large menu with lunch specials. My wife had the salmon Kama appetizer which was very good and a surprisingly large portion for an appetizer. I had the Katsu Curry chicken which was good but nothing special. We shared an Oceanside roll which again was good but nothing special.Will visit again and try other items on their menu.

I would have ordered after but the fact of the matter was they refused, for that reason I refuse to ever coming back! I really enjoy the vibe of the place but the spicy miso ramen was fairly flavorless. It was definitely spicy though which was nice. I had to add some soy sauce for umami and saltiness.I’ll be returning and trying something else! My brother got the curry which looked good and he finished everything. That might be the ticket.Prices are good overall. Simple and family owned. I think it was a solid 3.5 but I’ll round up on this one. My husband and I are in town on our honeymoon, originally from Phoenix, Az.Since weve been here, weve tried expensive restaurants that have been disappointing after disappointing.Tonight we decided to do something quick and easy. We found Sunshine Kitchen. We went in and immediately noticed how clean it was. The second thing we noticed was the employee, Ryo. All I can say is, if I owned a business, I would want him working for me. He was beyond kind and sincere. He was gracious and genuine. Whoever runs this business, be proud you have an employee like that, representing your restaurant.I would also like to mention that the food was incredibly fresh and hot! Absolutely delicious.... Phenomenal service - The hostess was really nice and sensitive when we brought up our sons dairy allergy and checked the ingredients of multiple items, even bringing out the ingredients list of the imitation crab that they use when we expressed our concern of that particular item because of a past reaction somewhere else. This is real Japanese food at reasonable cost. I had a #8 bowl, (beef teriyaki), #6 appetizer (side tempura), and a #14 ramen noodle soup bowl. Every item was cooked to perfection with fresh ingredients.The Ramen Noodle Soup bowl was enormous fresh noodles, green onion, tempura fried pork. A meal in itself, and delicious.Everything about this dining experience was 5 stars. I reccomend Sunshine Kitchen for your dining pleasure!!!
