2023-05-31 18:54:59Great place for AYCE Sushi! The rolls arrive very fast to your table 😀 you have 3 Rounds! So u better order all you can in the 1st and use the other to repeat or try small amount of new flavors 🤓

2023-09-04 03:37:19Fresh fish and delicious mochi. But what steals the show is the welcoming staff that just makes ya feel all warm and fuzzy. Where else can you find a beer for $4 in LA? 5 stars for that alone.

2022-06-29 03:31:57OMG are you serious!!???? How is it that Sushi 101 has been here forever and Im just having it for the first time?Well, this place is awesome! Full Japanese, Orion Japanese beer and hand roll happy hour!!!! $3.99 hand rolls and oh man are these delish! Not super skinny and skimpy, no, full rolls like Blue Crab and Shrimp Tempura.Go in, get a couple rolls and try the Albacore fried rib app.

2021-10-16 04:35:33The California roll, vegetable gyoza, and miso soup were great! The chicken teriyaki combo was a bit overpriced in my opinion. However, this seems like a great place for appetizers and sushi!

2023-07-08 23:24:13I once asked a Japanese friend at the gym which sushi place he would recommend, so weve been going to 101 for 20 years since. So if you like Un-slick and cheaper by a lot in an ugly strip mall…. It reminds me of the place in Tokyo in the series Midnight Diner on Netflix. It has achieved not trying/Is -ness.Last night we ordered a generous amount in an a la carte variety that included items we’ve never had, like Yellowtail collar, and mushroom Miso soup, for example. All served quickly with excellent taste. My wife asked me to guess the price and I guessed $45 and it was $35, including beer. They were about 75% filled on a Friday night at 6:30. So if you want quality and you have an accepting attitude… They wont yell Ohai-O! when you come in, just a warm welcome. My favorite tell is that you have to step over an unceremonious drainpipe three feet directly in front of the front door. The place is like one of those famous Japanese teacups with the rough finish mistake i.e. “wabi sabi” glaring out at you lovingly. The whole place says “wabi sabi” come to think of it. Their unglamorous friendliness is refreshing.Btw, Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie were playing softly in the background as we walked in. Louis Armstrong and other early Jazz was also played. Who does that? I think Joni Mitchell and Elvis C. might go there buy not Elton John, if you get my drift.Try it. Or dont, because I love it 75% full, but 85% wouldnt wreak it. I only risk telling you because we love them and feel better saying so out loud.

2021-10-27 22:47:26Im first-gen Japanese-American, and I can confidently say that this is one the best sushi restaurants in the valley. This is a family-owned restaurant and the Japanese family creating and serving the food are lovely, serve high-quality fish, and bring a wonderful mix of authenticity from their growing up in Japan and modern twists on sushi from their time in the U.S. (The nigiri with truffle and mushrooms is DELICIOUS) Ignore some other google reviews that complain about little things like delivery boxes being stored behind the check-in counter or the sushi not being Cold - in Japan, sushi is served at room temperature (Unless you go to a main street restaurant for tourists) so theyre doing that because thats how Japanese people like us eat. Highly recommend!!

2022-10-14 19:35:51It’s the best Sushi/Japanese restaurant in town. It’s an intimate and welcoming space that makes you feel instantly relaxed/at home. I love going there for miso soup, sushi, and a small hot sake.
