Quaint restaurant, nice atmosphere, excellent service. I ordered salted edamame (picture is after I finished it!), sashimi and veggie fried rice. I make my own sushi by layering salmon and tuna over veggie fried rice and then add sirachi for a little kick.Definitely must try, if you are near Vista, Ca.

This is a very small sushi restaurant. Only about eight tables in a small sushi bar. What really sets this aside is the rolls are not your standard rolls, they have quite a unique selection across multiple different styles.They have been closed for a while, due to a family emergency, but back open now and catering to their clientele. I recommend you try this especially for the non-standard selection of rolls.

It wasnt a smooth order but they still deserve 5 stars. I ordered through the website but it didnt alert them. No big deal to me, I worked in restaurants for MANY years so I understand things are out of their control. They made my rolls super quick with excellent service. The food was amazing and for both of these things alone I wil definitely be back. The only thing I wasnt super happy about was the prices were higher when I got the bill vs what was on the website when I ordered and the total I got in my email.

If you’ve ever been to Japan or ate at a sensible Japanese restaurant anywhere in the world, you know this place is garbage. This is an insult to American junk food!We ordered the katsu chicken, which was shocking. A tiny amount of chicken, heavily fried with next to no sauce. Not only does the chicken in the pictures look raw, it tasted it too. And have a look at that salad, I would be ashamed to give that to a rabbit!The beef Udon was worse, it was essentially a bowl of overcooked spaghetti with the smallest amount of beef ever and served (you honestly get more beef in a hot pocket) in a luke warm pot of stock. Utter rubbish!In my opinion the food is just horrendous.Overpriced garbage.Spend your money elsewhere.

Sushi4Reel is absolutely amazing! Don’t let its Oceanside strip mall location fool you. The food is great. You know how at some sushi restaurants the spicy tuna is weirdly textured? This was not like that. I had the paradise roll, fresh and flavorful miso soup, and tasted my husbands tri-tip. The service was good too. This is my first visit but it won’t be my last. I’ve found a new hangout spot! P.S. the decor and music add to the ambiance!

Excellent food!! Fresh, made perfectly, quick and friendly service. Best sushi dishes Ive had outside of Hawaii, and the sauces they use are awesome! Rich in flavor, made just right for each dish. If you like deep fried fish, try the Hamachi kama (yellow tail collar).

Went there today mid week Wednesday. I was told this place was good. Unfortunately it was not so good experience. The place is small and it was warm inside, I think the AC was out . There were only 2 staff working one chef and a waiter. There was only 4 people when we showed up and it took almost an hour to get our food. I think they got backed up with take out orders. We all got our plates about 15-20 minutes from each other. The sushi was ok.. Ill try again during the weekend. For now 2 stars.

Not 5 star only because the place is not fancy. But it seems to be a cool place to hang out eat bomb sushi and enjoy a drink or two or three. The waiter was very personable and made me feel welcomed. He welcomed me to sit and enjoy a water while I waited. It was a to go order. When I got home and opened the box the rolls were just as beautiful as if I was eating there at the restaurant. Highly recommend this place rolls were so good and fair price.

The sushi here is off the hook! Every roll is well thought out and blends flavors perfectly. The owner is super cool and often spends time with his customers giving that extra special service. I have recommended many of many friends and cooworkers to come here and so far no disappointments. Only word of caution is it a rather small sushi place so call ahead if you have a large group. This is my favorite sushi in North County!

Price was way too high for what we ordered, service was horrible. Waited 20 minutes for them to take my order then they got 1 bowl of udon, 1 cucumber avocado sushi roll, 1 rainbow roll, 1 Tempura Cali and 40 more minutes for mediocre food. Other tables were dirty before and after we got there, and never cleared any tables while we were there. Overall, this is the first time in a while were I havent left a tip.

Great place! Cozy and intimate, whether thats you and your date, or the staff. Theyre very friendly and attentive, youre never left stranded or looking for someone for service.Great variety of dishes and rolls, youll be able to find something to satisfy or be able to try many things that are all tempting. Its a thin, but dense menu and the staff are more than happy to help you decide or answer any questions.The interior is very nicely decorated, with great modern materials, amazing and fun animated art, purposefully lit and a seating set up that allows for privacy and a shared communal experience, so that you dont feel isolated, but also not bordering on any personal space violations.I only tried one roll, The Rehab, but everything sounded great. The fish was fresh and clean, their culinary skills shine through the preparation and quality of their ingredients, and their in-house specialties, like the Liquid Cash sauce.Prices are reasonable too, Im looking forward to coming back, but especially during lunch! Their combos sound like the perfect thing for a busy day where you could use a brief escape.Major shout out to the owner who managed to stop by to check in and see if we were doing ok, and our server, Angela, who was on top of her game and very personable. If youre someone who has been eating sushi your whole life or are avid about the entire experience, you may not enjoy Sushi 4 Reel. The pictures online may be a bit deceiving as it is a very small place and doesnt have the feel youd expect from a Japanese restaurant.The atmosphere didnt lack friendliness, but instead felt unwelcoming. Walking into the restaurant, we werent directed whether we were seated by the waiter/waitress or if we could seat ourselves. Alongside this, we didnt receive a greeting when we entered nor a goodbye and thanks when leaving.The quality of the fish is mediocre, not bad, not great. It didnt taste fresh, as youd expect from a restaurant being so close to the coast and major port cities in southern California. Its not something that is noticeable off the bat, but the more you eat the more youll realize it. The issue with this isnt just that it should be better quality for the area, but the pricing as well. $13+ for base special rolls, going up to $20~ is a bit ridiculous, and their happy hour isnt much of a deal at all besides maybe the alcohol. Furthermore, a fair amount of rolls seemed made up without keeping taste in mind -- weird combinations that arent authentic Japanese.Some smaller details are the taste of the water isnt good if youre the type of person that is specific about it. It tastes like tap water filtered through ice you use for coolers. Another issue was tables were missing their chopsticks, napkins, and soy sauce bowls. It wouldnt be that big of a deal, but I only saw the waitress twice (besides when asking for the check), so when we got our food, by the time I looked for the chopsticks, the waitress was gone, so I had to find spare ones on another table.Some positive things are that when interacting with the employees, they were nice. The food didnt take too long to come out either. Yet my favorite part was the art on the walls.In conclusion, Sushi 4 Reel is an alright place to stop by for sushi if youre looking for a quick bite and dont require better quality food and atmosphere.

I ate here for the first time yesterday. It was a small cozy little hole in the wall. Its a little pricey but worth it! Everything we had was very flavorful! I ordered a green salad and vegetable tempura. Ive never had any of restaurant serve onion, bell peppers and broccoli in tempura, so good! The Amor and Fiesta roll was amazing! Joohan was a very attentive and friendly server:) Will definitely be eating here again!

Overpriced for the ambiance and quality. I really dont know how these reviews are so good when there are better, more affordable sushi places littered between here and the beach. Spicy tuna was not spicy, which made the sub-par fish quality (or perhaps freshness) obvious. The sushi-Thai combo 2 minutes west is better, Wrench and Rodent off coast hwy is significantly better. I will say, it is better than a sushi stop...

4 Reel!I can’t believe there wasnt a review before this. Fantastic is an understatement.They are passionate about sushi, and their service.I highly recommend the “super homeless” roll, and the “187” roll.O.K. so now down to it, I live nearby and its convenient, the first time my wife and I tried to stop by they were full so we left, our mistake... had I known then how good it was, I would have waited an hour (not because we had to wait, we never even went inside) The venue is small and I surely see them out growing this place in the near future. There are TVs on the wall to watch sports and a bar that seats about 6 ppl. The place itself seats about 40 total, and that would be packed. By the way the painted wall is great and Im not being funny, stop by just to check that out, way cool for décor!The service is outstanding, they are extremely professional and yet kicked back and personal which is hard to do, basically you feel like you have known them for years and they are some extended family. Everything is prompt, you are greeted when you walk in and seated ASAP, Drinks and food are quick and delicious. They have accommodated my family several times now and with three young kids in a small place, I can say they are more than patient!. They even made special noodles for the kids which are not on the menu so i could get my kids to eat when they were being difficult. I have seen other large families in here as well and they had zero problems accommodating.I just ordered take out for the first time tonight and it was ready for me at the door! WOW. Ridiculously fast! When I got home and opened the order it was perfection. The portions are great they dont skimp on anything.I cannot sing the praises loud enough for the world to hear but if this helps anyone to get their butt in to Sushi 4 reel, then run down walk for a great meal.Thank you for my dinner and the great treatment we look forward to dinning here often.S. & Family

My favorite little sushi place. I usually order it out because my bf hates the club vibe interior and music. I love it though! They have these two giant contemp art pieces along the walls and a cool ceiling, and Im always grooving to the music. Very modern.I get overwhelmed with how many different roll options they have! Cute names and all. Always go with the seaweed salad.Perfect spot for a date night if youre looking for fresh sushi or a girls night out.

I swear I wrote review for this place but this is the third time Ive been here on a Saturday the staff is amazing very friendly understanding and patient the place can get packed I usually get here close to the time when they close but theres always room at the bar area or close to the back. The place is small kind of but big with LIFE and EXCITMENT the menus are amazing prices are not bad the place is clean and you guys know Im really big on bathrooms and they have clean bathrooms too the sushi chefs are really nice friendly their sake bombs $11.50 large. My wife wanted ramen and this place popped up when she was looking online. I have a place I like to go to but my wife insisted we try something new. What a mistake that was. This was the worst ramen Ive had, but I would go as far as to say the most disappointing food Ive ever had. Now, I didnt get sick or anything, but the food lacked flavor entirely. The meat was over cooked and had lots of fat on it. You could throw hot water into a packet of top ramen and you would have a better meal. That being said, we did get crunchy rolls with the order and they were good, so its entirely the ramen that lacks flavor. I have no idea how they have this on the menu. My wife wanted to complain but I just wanted to get out of there, should have let her because nothing feels worse then spending money on something you wholeheartly hated. The service, however, was fine and we tipped accordingly, after all, the waitress had nothing to do with the meal creation. Bottom line, this review is on the ramen and its the worst and should seriously be taken off the menu. The rolls and waitress were fine

Sushi, like most art forms, and it truly is an art form, isn’t just about having fresh fish. It’s about an experience, the balance of flavors, the creativity, the beauty in plating’s, vibrant colors, etc.Being here in Socal you expect fresh seafood. Having so many sushi restaurants here in San Diego you are inundated with rainbow rolls and spicy tuna hand rolls and super boring menus, so to have a new place open up, you really are wondering. What are they going to do differently, will I see something I haven’t seen. Taking a play out of the already proven and popular they use a lot of sauces that don’t scream traditional sushi. They use a carmel sauce on 1 of their rolls. I’ve been to hundreds of places and never seen that, it’s a totally different sweet complexity than the usual eel sauce which we all know. What about their honey sauce, or garlic butter sauce, you get where I’m going.Service is excellent from the managers to the servers. The owner is always there to serve and ensure you have a good time. All too often owner/operators don’t press the flesh enough, but when your newer and this small, super small, it’s very welcoming. Prices are reasonable and a true neighborhood place. I live down the street and frequently call in a pickup order to go.Some items I recommend are the bad girl (sans honey), you mad bro, caramel love (at least once). Their lunch specials are the typical 2 rolls, soup and salad, but they also have some plates like the salmon cheeks (not quite on that collar level, but something different than most). I did find their bento box a little pricey. Their samplers, roll platters, and the like are probably your best bet unless you are adventurous enough to really eat your way through their entire menu. I do find their sushi rice a little light on the vinegar and while their nigiri pack is dense, some rolls fall apart due to over saucing, so I generally stick with more basic rolls an ask for sauces on the side.The décor is very cool with more modern art than most any Japanese place you’ll go to. The clientele are very much regulars and locals because of where it’s positioned and how well you are treated here. What survives in this shopping complex does so on their own merit because there is no anchor. If you want more plate offerings, try Teri, if you want better ramen try Wulan. If you want more traditional sushi try Waraii, if you want more expensive try Love boat. Coastal sushi is a whole other thing with places like Blue, Wrench, Hooked on, Harney each catering to their own crowds as well.

The best sushi I have ever had. When you come here, please try one of their unique rolls. Sushi4reel has the most creative and unique rolls and each one is close your eyes DELICIOUS. You must try the You Mad Bro which has 6 oz. of fresh lobster and sauced with butter. The Garlic and Spicy edamame is good, but when you ask them to make Spicy Garlic edamame, it is truly next level. If youre looking for your standard low price sushi rolls, this isnt the place. This is the place to go if youre a true foodie and want to have an amazing experience. This place has some of the best Japanese food in Oceanside! The sushi is always fresh and delicious. The owner and all the wait staff are so friendly and inviting. My advice for the new comer, ask for a recommendation instead of getting your usual. You wont be sorry! We had the Bruce Lee and a recommendation from the owner who made it himself. Both were out of this world! Weve been back 4 times, its that good! Its the only place close by that well take our Japanese friends and family. This was by far the worst - I called in for pick up and got there 1hr they advised 45minI told the guy my name for pick up and he said oh yeah the combo - I said no it was 2 rolls and 2 hand rolls - he said 5 min more - I waited outside for 15 min and walked back in and he said what’s your order after I paid !!! Great hand rolls and individual sushi. Non sushi dishes are delicious as well. The more common rolls such as spicy tuna are mediocre though. Over great place place to eat.
