THE BEST. No need to consider any other establishment. I don’t eat sushi anywhere else. After having lived in Japan for years, my sushi expectations are beyond high and Blue Fin satiates my fiercest of cravings. Chef Daisuke is a happy, sweet, skilled sushi master. Cheers him a beer when you’re there.They get quite busy so not a bad idea to make a reservation.

The food here just makes you happy, it’s so good hard to describe. Great value for the money. So authentic and the chef is so kind. It’s like eating in a friends’ kitchen. I’ve been coming here for years.

In a more traditional and quaint setting, this chef serves sushi that is nicely arranged and fresh tasting. Service was polite but slow, even though less than a quarter of the tables were occupied. If you’re looking for a more traditional sushi experience then you’ll find it here. The Japanese scallops, the ankimo, and the aji were memorable. Recommended.

Nice staff, clean and quick service. Food sadly was not good. Didn’t like the udon broth, didn’t like the California rolls, didn’t like the lunch special, fish was chewy, didn’t even like their ginger. Our whole table mutually agreed nothing we ate tasted good… Hope they improve…

Our regular sushi restaurant. Not an overpriced hipster place with fancy sounding mediocre quality food. This is the place you go for a great local meal. The blue fin roll is an amazingly fresh one to try.

Long wait times. No room to wait for table or take out (ordered ahead and still had to wait 30+ mins once we got there). Teriyaki chicken is a joke and not worth $11+, it’s not even served with rice (see photo). Garlic edamame was good but salty. Sushi was good. Probably won’t visit again. Many other places in the area with better customer service and more reasonable prices.

Blue Fin is one of the best sushi bars in North County. They have a balanced blend of traditional dishes and plenty of their own creations---all of which are delicious. Their ingredients are fantastic while somehow managing to keep prices reasonable.The staff is friendly and welcoming, while the facility is spotless. Theres a lot of love put in each of their dishes, so the food comes out at a reasonable pace, but a little patience is necessary. As for the pandemic, they do a fantastic job of packaging their food for takeout. Each takeout order includes all the essential sauces, sides, and accessories.An important note: over time, their food, menu, and service have improved a lot. Greatness takes time, so if you tried them in the past and havent been back, Id suggest giving them another chance. You wont be disappointed.Im a big fan of their Happy Roll, Soft-Shell Crab Roll, and tempura.

We got sushi as well as beef teriyaki and chicken tonkatsu boxes. Cant really judge the sushi, it was take out and seemed like it could be decent eating in. The boxes were simply awful. Not even a few grains of salt, no flavor whatsoever. If you go here, stick to the sushi.

Service was kinda slow, inattentive. Took a long time getting us the check after we were clearly done. Diners at adjacent table gave us their unused ginger when they saw we were waiting too long for waitress to ever come back around. Also when you get the sushi assortment you may not get the same pieces you did last time. Maybe I should be more specific and ask next time.

The sushi is fresh and delicious but the service is very slow. It took over an hour for us to get 6 sushi pieces. It seemed like to go orders had priority over dining in. But if you you have time to kill it is worth the wait just make sure you put your full order in.

Second time at Blue Fin and the sushi was excellent. The caterpillar and crunchy rolls are really good. There are plenty of tables and room to sit at the bar as well. Service is great even at the busy lunch hour. Happy hour is from 5-6pm.

A disappointing dinner is the best way to describe it. The one thing I can say is the fish quality was good. My wifes soba soup was bland and lacking.Food was brought to us in a way that was chaotic and not in any order. Our waiter was good but the service suffered due to the lack of organized service.The rice in my sushi was cool and not appropriately seasoned.

I have tried most well rated sushi places in San Diego county and this one is my favorite. Its a small place but has the freshest fish. They also import special fish and scallops straight from Japan and they are very hard to find anywhere else. Here is a tip,.....ask for their sushi that uses Yuzu in it(usually their imported stuff from Japan).

Quality fish and great sushi chefs. Encinitas is lucky enough to have two great sushi restaurants, and this is one of them. It can get crowded. The best time to come is towards the tail end of happy hour, so you can order happy hour drinks to go with your meal.

Bluefin is my place of choice for lunch. I try to go at least a couple times a week. They are gracious team and work hard to make you feel comfortable. I especially like the fresh raw fish from Japan although they have some wonderful Bento meals as well. I adore the black cod special. The sushi was fresh but the service was meh and killed my experience. I sat at the bar and the chef knew some regulars so they were served more promptly. At some point I thought they forgot my food. The chef had to tell someone else to ask me if I wanted to order something else. Why not ask me directly?! They were real quick to give me the check, before they even asked if I was done eating. Not sure I would come back.
