Love stumbling across a hidden gem and enjoying one of the best sushi meals I’ve ever experienced. Crunch was my favourite for taste and texture. Holy cow was a close second. Food was delicious, staff was attentive and friendly and atmosphere was great. Would recommend to any sushi lovers.

An impromptu date night with the Mrs and our usual sushi spot (a 3.5-4/5 at best) being booked (AYCE so people stay longer) a quick search for spots nearby found Sushi Bear. Good ratings, pictures of what my wife described as a “cute” inside and the name (wife has always called me Bear, so Sushi Bear was a sign) we decided to give it a shot. After being seated I can attest that the inside was indeed “cute” we ordered a few items off the menu and absolutely everything was perfection. Miso soup was great and plentiful. The garlic soy sauce edamame was like nothing we’ve had before even though we always try to order the garlic style edamame at sushi spots. Addicting. We got a few items but the main highlights start with the bear style carpaccio (fresh and delicious, wife usually will only eat salmon but ventured to try the other 3 types of fish presented and liked them). And then the star of the evening was the Sunrise Roll. We always try to find a type of roll that’s like a California roll with salmon and lemon slices on top. Some places have variations, others we need to ask nicely, but the sunrise roll was that to perfection. When it showed up without visible lemon slices I asked about it and was told they were under the salmon rather than the usual over we’d seen at other places. This simple change transformed the way this roll is enjoyed as you get the hint of lemon slice rather than hit with that first. Everything else was wonderful, even the ginger tasted fresh, and the service was great. Can’t wait to come back.

This place is a cute traditional little sushi spot. The restaurant location is low-key, but the food is superb. Everything we ordered was delicious, delectable, and devine. The salmon lemon drop was super yummy. I was pleasantly surprised at the size, texture, and taste of the appetizer. My mom was very happy with her salmon bento box, and she is very rarely appeased.Definitely recommend this spot if you want some fresh sushi.

I was looking forward to trying this restaurant for sushi. Especially since we saw good reviews. Unfortunately our sushi was not good and tasted mediocre. Check out my sushi picture. It was warm and squishy. Especially the salmon rolls. For the price of 3 rolls and 4pcs salmon sushi, this was a disappointment. I’ll stick to our usual sushi spot. The waitresses were nice.

They have excellent quality of fish here. If you are Salmon lover like myself, then you definitely need to visit this place. I give 4 stars because their sushi bar was not open and I personally prefer to sit at the bar. Despite this, service was fast and sushi was nicely presented.

There was a short wait on a Friday night but wasn’t too bad. The service was friendly. We Order the spider roll, Bellagio and Natural Viagra Roll they were good. Nice presentation. Then came the Blue fin Tuna... it was pretty good. We finished it with the O-Toro. It was so mouth watering and buttery that after I ate it, I wanted to hug the sushi chef. So good.

Food was bomb. We had the baked lobster roll, the Tastes Like My ExGirlfriend roll, a Kawada sunrise beer, also the portabella mushroom fries. I have to give it up for the Tastes Like My ExGirlfriend roll. It was the best. Its a baked roll with shrimp tempura and spicy crab inside with baked tuna and scallops on top. Beware of parking however. Its a small lot and half the spots are just 20 minutes only.

Came here today and I am instantly impressed by their service. We ordered 3 orders of sweet shrimp three orders of salmon belly, sashimi salad, sunrise roll,cucumber roll, halibut, and waygu on the salted Brick. These were all delicious. We also got two bottles of Asahi, one cocktail and one hot saki and our bill was 140$. The service was excellent, the place is clean, and people use their indoor voice, so it didnt feel hectic at all. The presentation is really nice. I Cant Wait to come back here. The sushi was so fresh. It really made me happy to hear the waitress tell us that one of the dish we order is not doable today because when they went to buy the fish, it wasnt up to their standards, so they didnt get it. That was like music to my ears.

Excellent and friendly staff. My mom cant tolerate spicy food and I forgot to keep this in mind when ordering her the Cury Udon. Eventhough it smelled delicious, we asked the manager if there is any way we can either exchange her food or make it less spicy. Since they only had one cury spice, they offered to replace it with a regular Udon which was very tasty, at no cost!The restaurant might not be at the best location but inside, the atmosphere is amazing and very welcoming.The food was delicious too! Jalapeño dish is pictured after we finished 3 pieces. So good and yummy!

Im giving this a 4 stars for now since it was my first time here. I ordered a lunch bento box with chicken katsu and takoyaki on the side. It was soooooo goood. I devoured everything so quickly and wish I had more! The chicken katsu was decent and the sides were really nice. It came with miso soup and some cabbage salad (I am not too sure) which was a great compliment to my meal. Ive never had takoyaki, but as a first timer, I was very much pleased. There are still alot of things on the menu that I am dying to try, obviously the sushi, so I will definitely be coming back for more!

Came here for lunch. Got a regular sashimi special, flaming roll and dragon ball z. The sashimi was fresh and delicious. It doesnt hurt to splurge once and a while. They also serve some fried wonton chips with cinnamon, reminiscent of a churro.

I like many aspects of this place.The tongue and cheek menu, comfortable but modern setting, a wonderful fresh fish selection, in a rather unique Japanese beer menu including a stout.The reason I didnt give them 5 Stars was because they didnt have an all-you-can-eat option, the prices were a bit steep, and the rolls were much too large to eat in one bite.On one hand I like the value of the large sushi rolls however when its so big that you have to deconstruct it in order to eat it kind of takes away from the experience.

This is one of our favorite sushi spots to go. The fish quality is great and they have a large selection of sushi options. They also have rotating fish specials too! For what you get the prices are reasonable. Dont let the outside appearance fool you!My only feedback is to get better napkins, or give tables more than just one baby napkin.

Without a doubt this is my best place to eat sushi in California. We didnt have much expectations about the place because the only thing we did was to search a nearby sushi restaurant by the zone. This was my first experience going to an authentic sushi and everything was so great. The sushi has an excellent and special flavour but when we tried out the nigiri and sashimi, the secret was revealed. The fish is at its best, fresh and I think its from the day. The attention is not excellent because they do not take care very much for the tables but is great.

Used to be my favorite sushi restaurant. A gave the restaurant one more chance tonight for takeout but it will be the last time. Slightly embarrassing but I love eel sauce and I don’t know why, but they have changed their recipe (hate it now). The food also just looked dull tonight. I enjoyed our meal at sushi bear. The place wasnt very busy on a Saturday afternoon. The staff were nice and helped answer questions about a dairy allergy. The sushi was really good and tasted fresh. The bam bam and Hawaiian rolls are solid. I wasnt a huge fan of the baked lobster which actually contains crawfish. They were able to make a custom kids role which she loved. Among all of the dishes, I love sweet shrimp the most. The shrimps were so fresh and tasty. Octopus nigiri is not the best but gives out a decent taste. What I do not recommend is lonster tail hand roll. If you are raw seafood fan, please do not order. Customer service is nice and helpful, and parking lot is decent. I will come back for more sweet shrimps for sure.

Came for lunch and was basically melting inside, there was no AC on. Even the workers had to use a small hand fan to cool herself. It warmed up our sashimi immediately.Got the small sashimi plate and the tuna was tough and chewy. It was the worst thing on plate. The octopus tasted like it just finished thawing so it had that frozen watery taste. The yellowtail collarbone was soft and good, but when we got to the inner piece near the bone, it was still a bit raw. The tasted like my ex roll was decent. The nice thing was that you can check in on Yelp for free small hot sake.Other than the food, they had good service. Our waitress was really nice and helpful.

Weve been here many times and always have great service, awesome food, and a great time! We love bringing our friends here as their first time! Food was great but the service could have been better. We were celebrating a birthday here and it was just four of us. Maybe it was an off day but we felt neglected because we had to ask for things more than once. Such as reminding them to get us water for the third time. The restaurant was nice to let us bring in a cake and light up the candles for us. After we ate, they brought out the cake and left us with no plates or forks nor the knife that came with the cake to cut.

In Tustin on biz, I stopped by Sushi Bear for dinner. Two hostesses with big smiles greeted me immediately and showed me to my table, and it only got better from there. Asked the server for her favorite rolls, she recommended 4, I ordered 2 (Jenny, Aloha) and they were both AMAZING. I eat a lot of Sushi, and these were some of the best I ever had. Beautiful presentation with vibrant colors and garnished with a fresh flower, fresh and delicious fish, thick slices of sashimi, rolls are exquisite in appearance, taste, and texture. If you can fit one slice of a roll into your mouth, you are talented! My cup was kept full, waitress was friendly and knowledgeable of menu. The entire staff made us feel welcome and appreciated. Good selection of wild caught fish. Entire restaurant and bathroom were very clean. I have a been here 3 times now and this time brought guests visiting from out of town. Ive been wanting to try this spot and decided to bite the bullet by ordering through Postmates for dinner. Service fees were a bit more than usual due to the distance, but I wanted to try something different from rotation and this was at the top of places to try.What we ordered:2 Choice Bento Box with Mixed Tempura & Beef TeriyakiCandy Cane RollYellowtail SashimiThe yellowtail sashimi comes 3 pieces to an order with the usual garnishes of shiso leaf, shredded radish, lemon and a carrot. Nothing super fantastic about it aside from the thick slices which was nice. The candy cane roll was topped with salmon and avocado with spicy tuna and cucumber inside. The spicy tuna definitely had a kick and was surprising to pack such heat.The boyfriend got the the 2 choice bento. Beef teriyaki was cooked how he liked it - medium well. The sides were pickles, potato salad and a small slice of orange. Decent portions, but I think he prefers our usual rotation for the value.For our first try, it wasnt bad, but I think it would have been better as a dine-in option. I was drawn by their unique naming convention for their rolls, but also interested in exploring sashimi and nigiri selections. For freshness, I think Ill have to give them another try in person, or like, when we can eat inside again.

Our favorite sushi place by far. Have been going there regularly since they opened, and cant find anything else that compares since we moved out of state. Fish is always fresh, and food is super tasty whether you get sashimi or rolls. Portion sizes are also very generous compared to other places. Love their variety of sashimi options. Also, their salmon skin is always crispy so none of that sometimes slimy skin found at other places. Huge selection of raw, cooked, baked and tempura rolls so should be something for everyone. EVERY time I come to this restaurant I am so pleased with the whole dining experience. From the moment you step in you are greeted and taken care of immediately. Usually there are tables open which is a huge plus. Their service is great throughout the entire time. Their servings are more than generous with their sashimi pieces being very large. They have combos set up that are well worth your buck. Dont be afraid to order them although they (sashimi/nigiri) are chefs choice because they are always great pics! And theyre very fast too! I love Sushi Bear! My boyfriend introduced me to this place and we go several times a year. Its definitely our birthday/anniversary place. Servers are kind and attentive. This is my default go to place for sushi, but not hot foods. The sushi bear combo is a sufficiently large to fill a hungry man(albiet for $35) but. Considering the cost compared to any other local sushi place this is very reasonable pricing. The sashimi cuts are THICK, perhaps 15 mm slabs is more accurate. The variety of nigiri in the combo include some of the normally pricey rarer fish. The rolls here have some eccentric names, and theyre fun to try, but I recommend sticking to the sashimi and nigiri from the combo. The hot food options arent the best here. The owner is a real fish enthusiast too, so he might come and show you pictures of the fish in the omakase option when you order it.( Also recommended, if youre adventurous and want to sample some things that you might not normally see except from high-end sushi places)

They offer a Monday-Friday lunch menu which includes the sushi and sashimi plate (what my wife and I ordered). This comes with 2 pieces of four types of fish (sashimi), and 1 piece of about 6 types of fish (sushi), miso soup, and a salad. The fish pieces are generous and taste fresher than most sushi places I frequent. The rolls (we had the firey one with Jalapenos) are creative and also packed with fish. They have pretty fun names, too, like “Final Fantasy” and “Tastes like my Ex-Girlfriend”. Deciding what to order is definitely the hardest part, and my wife and I will be back to try more!

When we sat down our server immediately asked us if we went to chruch that morning, when we said no we came from Disneyland he accused us of being Scientologists.
