I love this great spot for sushi, everything was fresh and flavorful. Ive never had a bad experience and they have stayed great for years.The location is clean and welcoming, I cannot recommend this restaurant more.

The Gyoza was on point! Probably the best Ive had. The flavor is amazing with the crunch of the outer layer.Over the Rainbow roll was worth the price. Flavor and freshness was great. The size of the roll was well enough for 1 along with the Gyoza. Definitely coming back!

Really quick review, SIMPLY DELICIOUS! Been to a lot of sushi places, expensive and cheap ones. Really surprised by the quality, taste and atmosphere! Really calm place perfect for relaxation! Food is 10/10! I Not to mention SUPER QUICK and HOT!!! I got the Washington roll(recommend if you like raw sushi, really clean and tasty), chuck norris (really recommend, a little spice to it) and a chicken soup that was delicious (good for kids)!!! And the priceing is literally the same as any other sushi place, not bad at all! Awesome spot! Almost forgot, they gave us a salad that was soooo good!!!

Ive never had a sushi roll come that was on fire until tonight. The burning roll was not only a sight to see but was very tasty. I also got the unagi which was a generous portion and also very tasty. The restaurant is a bit smaller so it wouldnt be as well suited for groups, but Id definitely come back with a smaller group. The staff was very attentive and friendly. My hot tea was never empty.

Accidental stop on Tuesday night turned out to be extremely delicious, even though we had to wait to be seated for over 15 minutes. We were surprisingly amazed by the food, quality and number of customers. I mean this place was jampacked starting from 6 till 9 PM.Food was excellent. And you name it to give it a thumbs up. Miso soup outstanding! Agedashi tofu, really, it’s a deep fried? Didn’t notice. Cali roll with real crab, might be canned, however mmmmm, I’ll come back for it. And at the end of the run - Yellow Dragon - jackpot.Some service was lacking politeness, however, our server was very pleasant and kind.Really did enjoy the place and after studying the menu will be back and very soon.

Great place to have sushi. We are sushi lovers from out of town visiting our granddaughter. They have good quality and very fresh fish. Dinner time could be a little hectic, but food came out pretty fast. Well return while in town.

From the outside you wouldn’t expect this to be THE BEST sushi restaurant in Pleasanton. The place is located at a small strip mall.However, the sushi you get served here is so delicious, it’s unbelievably fresh and tasteful.I usually sit at the bar to see the sushi chefs work. It’s a spectacle in itself.Highly recommend to go for some of the special rolls.

Not too many Sushi places around Pleasanton but the quality was really good! Have visited this place several times, the price keeps on increasing. Its not yet at the Fine-dine level so would definitely question the pricing. Loved the fact that you can customize a lot of rolls in Vegetarian!

Fresh ingredients and a pleasant atmosphere in this Japanese restaurant. The tables are spaced and the background chatter never disturbing, allowing for a pleasant conversation over dinner. The sushi /sashimi taste good and the combination options are satisfying. The grilled edamame is quite good!

Cute little place with an impressive menu, including a specials menu of fish flown in internationally. Weve been here a few times and enjoyed their okonomiyaki (which is impossible to find in the tri valley area) and special rolls. Most recently, Husband and I shared hamachi toro from the specials menu (sooooo good!!!) and the signature sushi set for 2. The sushi set comes with miso soup (very gentle flavor...perhaps white miso?) and salad (really liked the tangy dressing), 6 pieces chefs choice sashimi, 6 pieces chefs choice nigiri, and you pick 2 rolls from their popular rolls menu. Rolls were good, but we thought their sashimi and nigiri were Hanabis strength. When realized they had brought us one of the wrong rolls, they made us the right one and let us take the wrong one home. Excellent customer service!!This place is very popular and often has a wait. There is a small parking lot, but weve never had trouble getting a spot. Ive only ever seen 2 wait staff working at a time, so service can feel a little slow compared to other places, but its really not that bad.

Had the dinner entree of Chef’s choice of sashimi and a shrimp tempura roll. Generous serving of fresh and diverse sashimi cuts which is a dood deal for the price. Roll is delicious with rich layers of flavors. Also had an appetizer of chicken karaage which is a little over-fired for my taste. All in all a great place for sushi and sashimi.

Mind you, we were there at the start of lunch hour on a Monday, but very good sashimi, very attentive servers and a nice quiet vibe while we were there. Parking was easy but imagine at high tide you should park across the street--its a small plaza and small-ish restaurant. Oh, and garlic edamame was like crack! 😉

The best sushi in Pleasanton! (since Tomo closed). Seriously though, Hanabi has good game. I like everything from purist Japanese sashimi to your western variety deep fried cream cheese with avocado jalepeños shrimp tempura special sauce and oh yeah, some fish in there. But either way, the fish has to be FRESH and good, and this place has the best in the Tri Valley we’ve found. Just remember, on a busy night study the menu beforehand and have your drink order ready in the first 5 seconds or they may ghost out and get back to you later, they like to keep it moving!

Wow. The pieces of fish are fresh, tender, and large. The yellow tail tonight was melt in your mouth tender, smooth, but not mushy. The rolls are made made with imagination, and fresh fish. The service is great. GO HERE.

Just moved to the area and have tried a few sushi places, this one is v fresh and the spicy tuna has good flavor. We also ordered a spicy salmon hand roll, chuck norris roll, several slices of sashimi slices + nigiri pieces.. all fresh and nicely prepared, perfect amount of rice in a roll! We will be back:)

Not my kind of sushi place, I came in with a taste for Japanese flavors but realized it was a heavier and spicier kind of place. Ordered the Chuck Norris Roll and its definitely a Korean flavor of sushi, in that case, Id rather order some good ole Gimbap but that wasnt on the menu.Not many options for vegetarian sushi rolls. I asked for a simple roll with just pickled Daikon radish and the ratio of Daikon and rice wasnt right, too much Daikon.

The rolls chuck Noris and ultimate spider rolls were good. I left with a bad first impression on customer service unfortunately. We came in around 4pm and it was slow yet were told to hurry and order so sushi chef can eat lunch before dinner rush. Tried to be understanding but the thing is they never left and kept taking orders. There was no hours sign declaring a typical one hour break for staff most sushi places have. As we’re eating the server complained my one year old was dropping food on the floor. She. Is. One. Honestly what do you expect from a one year old? I know it’s messy that’s why I personally always clean up when we eat out but the passive aggressiveness was uncalled for and rude. Sad to leave a review like this since the food was decent.

No surprise - day before Mother’s Day, their Chef’s Sashimi Sampler and Mongo Scallops Roll still the charm & favorite of ours’. The rice in roll is perfectly Q; the sashimi tenderly soft and fresh as always. Since we felt super hungry after farmer’s market shopping, we added a Tempura Udon and suck the soup to last sips, It will stay warm and satisfying our stomachs beyond this evening.

This is a nice little sushi place with an authentic Japanese feel to it. Well, its as authentic as you can get in Pleasanton I guess. The food was very good. The service was ... shall we say, less than stellar. It seems to be a family-run restaurant. The prices were vet on the expensive side but I think the food was excellent and worth little expense. All in all its a nice restaurant I would definitely go back to.

This place makes the food right, flavors are subtle and not obnoxious. We had udon noodle which was delicious, the kids really loved it. I had the Chuck Norris roll and the Victoria Secret roll which were fantastic, and my wife had the Saba which is a really fishy fish and she said it was cooked perfectly. We will definitely be coming back!

We ordered quite a bit of sushi and hot entrees for Mother’s Day. Hanabi prepared a gorgeous sushi platter for us that was so colorful and appealing. The fish was fresh and delicious and their Katsu and short ribs were delicious. They did an amazing job for us and were so kind. We will definitely order dinner from them again and when we’re able to finally eat out again, we’ll go to Hanabi.

It’s been a while since I last visited Hanabi Sushi in Pleasanton, and I was VERYdisappointed today when I went there for lunch ☹️. It went from being one of the best Sushi restaurants around to mediocre at best! 😪😪. Shrimp tempura was tasteless, and did not look fresh. Reminded me of store bought frozen tempura. Miso soup was cold, and Nigiri (3 kinds) did not taste refrigerated. There in nothing worse than warm raw fish.There were all new staff and chefs. Hope this was just a bad day, but I wouldn’t go back until they got the quality of the good back to where it was

My favorite sushi joint in Pleasanton!Ive been here a couple times when looking for a place to eat. I ordered the chirashi bowl and it was solid. Nothing amazing, but nothing that makes me frown. My favorite thing to order here is the okonomiyaki and takoyaki. Theyre crisp on the outside and soft on the inside! The okonomiyaki is especially crisp as it is a thick pancake. Highly recommend!
