This place has excellent sushi. If youre willing to pay cash, the price difference is can be up to $10 cheaper. They always have a special, and be atmosphere is absolutely serene and very private.For the kids or cat lovers, animal lovers, dog lovers etc, they have two flat screen TVs mounted on opposing walls on which you can view cute animal videos while you wait for your food. There is an ATM available if you would like to pay cash and get the discounted price.The service is a little slow, but not irritatingly so. If you dont mind drinking canned soda they will pour it for you in a glass. The staff is very friendly and gives a very traditional Japanese mom and pop feel.Wide open privacy windows with a view of the parking lot so you can make sure to keep an eye on your vehicle while spectators cannot see in.The cook is an absolute charmer. On one visit, he came out from behind the counter just to give my 3-year-old son candy for eating all his sushi 💙.

Absolutely love this place. Many people come here for sushi and i’ve heard it’s super great. I personally ALWAYS get the Bento Box. It comes with so much delicious food and a side of miso soup. It’s very fulling. I believe it’s $19 which is a reasonable price (: The service is amazing. the food wait time isn’t bad. i usually wait around 10 mins for a party of 3.

I rarely take the time to write reviews, but I just discovered this place by random chance today and it was so lovely I needed to review. The food is quite literally some of the best Ive had. I didnt think I liked sushi or fish, but I had just never had it done so well. It was spectacular, and no matter what you order you will leave happy. The atmosphere was just perfect, the music was calming, everything was very clean. Also, the service was exceptionally good.I really cant say enough good things about this place. I cant wait to bring my friends :)!

I went here instead of Love Sushi because Love looked small and the rating weren’t good but THIS PLACE IS GOOD! I went in on a Wednesday so i was slow but who cares. I had 4 rolls. Salmon Lover(seen in picture), Wild Zebra(seen in picture), an Alaskan and a California roll and the we’re all very good. The sushi stayed together, the fish was at the right temperature, and the right wasn’t to big for the roll. VERY GOOD JOB. The atmosphere wasn’t over the top, just your regular sushi bar atmosphere wish I’m completely ok with. The server was very attentive but was the only one there so not saying much. But all in all VERY GOOD and will be returning with my family! Thanks guys😊

Cozy little place.For a late comer to the casual-sushi craze, this little gem has more going for it than most. It has weekday specials for a quick bite, a sushi bar for sashimi, and tepanyaki tables for a small party.Our lunch was quite good. My wife and I each had an entre and shared a roll. Acoustics are very pleasant for conversation. However it was less than 1/2 full during our visit, so the ambiance may be vert different during peak hrs. Service was satisfactory, but not exceptional. Expect to pay $40-50 before t/t for 2 people.All said, I would return again if I was in the area and needed a meal. I doubt that I will be going out of my way to return. But, it was quite good you can get a tempura taco here which is definitely worth doing once.

Clean and modest, the server is very kind, and the prices for portions are great. $5 cash California Roll is great for me when I dont like to spend too much ordering out. Being able to see the kitchen a bit too is also very nice. It is a smaller business, so cash is preferred over card to avoid hefty transaction fees. Im always happy to come back here : )

This is some of the best comfort sushi I have had. Their sushi has extra rice on it so it feels like youre getting a lot more sushi for your buck. Interior is dark and quiet with plants and quick service. Definitely would recommend.

Sushi was about as good as any other Bakersfield location, ans service was ok. It was a little busy when I went. However, dont be fooled by the cash discount. Their prices are higher than everywhere else, so you pay the same as you would anywhere else. Had I been aware of their prices, I probably would have gone to one of the places I regularly go in Bakersfield.

Our meal was alright. Nothing crazy wow, but not bad either. If you pay with credit card, your bill is about 50% more than if you pay with cash. I cant see myself paying anything more than what we did for the food we got. I must say however, our server was very friendly, and very attentive.

My bf & I just ate here a few minutes ago. So far best sushi place Ive gone since moving here. Been wanting to try this place since theyve been open. Definitely worth trying! Delicious sushi & everything we ordered seemed so fresh. Will come back here to eat. Would like to come here for their lunch specials.. price seems reasonable for what you get during lunch. People may not be tearing down the doors but they know where Sushi Hanashi is at. Delicious food. What is nice is that there is 50% off if you are willing to pay cash. Serves sake and beer no discount there. Nice little tidbit on the menu. Let me add there certain foods that are not with the discount specials. But you still have an array of choices to pick from. Right now one server so if you are in a hurry you may have a little challenge. Wheelchair accessible and tables are spread out to where it is covid-19. Safe. Bathrooms clean which is one of my pet peevesl. Lots of call in and take out orders was noticeable. Cannot go wrong with the food it is delish. PS sushi bar is shut down tables only. enjoy...! 🥢🍶🍣

Before this establishment took over Izumo, this was the definite go-to for sushi. Ive had Sushi Hanashi twice now since the change. I always get the spicy tuna roll and the popcorn lobster roll. Both times the food was very salty, and the rice overcooked. The popcorn lobster was not fresh either, it was room temperature and chewy. Its clean and a little newer inside, but as for some of the food its nothing to crave.

This is so far the best sushi place my husband and I have been. We love that it is very low-key, quiet place where you can really enjoy their awesome food plus their prices are very reasonable too. We esp like the yellow tail lover roll. We love mackerel and salmon sashimi and they always give super fresh and generous cuts of the fish. We also like the fact that they dont get too excited putting sauces on their rolls as compared to other sushi places. This is our go-to sushi place from here on☺.

Incredible the first time I got it. I got the Chirashi bowl and it had a huge variety of sashimi on top. Today I got a poor excuse. It was in a Tahoe out box with extremely little fish. I am disappointed and will come here every again because of terrible portion control. My sister got the unagi roll one time and got only 4 pieces. If I could give them a review less than 1 star I ABSOLUTELY WOULD! Before placing an order for SEVERAL rolls I asked could they make the rolls with soy wrap rather than seaweed wrap and I was assured they could so of course I happily placed my order. I picked up my order drove home and was absolutely disgusted by what I saw when I open the first box, the roll looked as though it had been made 2 nights ago and was sitting in a mushy substance WITH a seaweed wrap. I opened each box and they all were seaweed wrapped. I called the store back and after explaining what the issue was there was a brief pause before I was hung up on. I called back MANY MANY times and was hung up on again several times or they just wouldnt answer the phone. NEVER AGAIN WILL THIS BUSINESS GET MY MONEY AND ILL BE SURE TO SPREAD THE WORD

I liked it back in the day when it had the tree inside. The quality of the food varies greatly. Service can be good to nonexistent to rude depending on which server one is lucky enough to get. My daughter likes their miso soup. I like the Cherry Blossom, Tiger Roll, and tuna sushi.When they redid the interior a while back, it lost all sense of being a dining destination and looks more like a Dennys.It will be interesting to see how long it lasts. I prefer it to Bento Express slightly. I prefer Izumo to Tokyo Garden which is noisy, cramped, rolls are overpriced and not even remotely authentic.

Sushi is always great. Never had a problem with to-go orders. Love that the miso soup and edamame are free, other places charge. My favorite rolls are the White Volcano, Salmon Lover, Garlic, and Cherry Blossom. The sashimi is great also, but there used to be a guy that worked that that sliced up pretty big pieces that my husband loved. Overall everything is good. This is always our go to spot if we know what we want.

One of my go tos for sushiUpdate:10/01/18 its no longer called izumo, it got bought out and is now hanashi sushi and I dont like the change to the menu. Its got new staff and new cooks. Looked at the menu and all the old sushi rolls are gone but they offered a menu of the old food, we ordered our favorite the white volcano and crazy roll and when they arrived they no longer were big,bit small tiny bite size pieces and for the same price as before...I will not be going back anymore, my only sushi place now is Jin sushi in downtown.

This is an excellent, moderately priced Japanese food restarant. It has sushi, tepinyaki, traditional Japnese quisine. The service is very good and the owner is the sushi chef.

Change of quality is TERRIBLE. Always paid $17 for yellowtail SASHIMI and this time I got 7 pieces of fish. THE TAST AND QUALITY WAS TERRIBLE. I SPAT IT OUT.
