This is my home town sushi restaurant. I love the different roll combinations. I do miss my favorite sushi chef, Alan. He was my brother from another mother. I have since moved to Maine, but during my home visit, I stopped by for dinner with some friends. I have good memories in this place. ❤️

I dont think Ill be coming back. I used to be a lot better. I often enjoyed to order the sashimi salad and it would be made with seaweed, assorted raw fish, spices, sesame seeds and so on.. but last time i ordered it, they just used cheap head lettuce with a bunch of chopped up raw fish over the top and what seemed like the whole bottle of dressing dumped over the top! It was a mess. Restaurant was messy and smelled like bleach in the dining area.

- Decent pricing but small portions. So you end up spending as much as more expensive places to get full.- Inconsistent freshness of their food.- Everywhere online says they close at 2:30pm. But if you order at 2:01pm they will literally call your phone and say sorry we won’t make your food, no matter how simple the order is.Unfortunately today was probably my last time going here. To go order was very cold. They made half my food (the hot portion), and stopped when I arrived at the restaurant. They proceeded to help other customers—even those who came in after me. Half my food just sat there and got really really cold for 30 mins+ while Im waiting for them to make 2 simple makimono rolls.The salmon roll had bones in it. Def skip the chicken Teryaki, it never tastes like it’s good quality. Really hoping I don’t get sick 🤞🏼Disappointed cuz this place is conveniently located and been goin there for a while, but time to find somewhere new.Next day EDIT: Confirmed, I am sick today. I hate to give low reviews to non-chains, but I was really let down by my experience here. To keep things brief, this was my second time eating here—my first visit wasnt great either but I decided to give this place a second chance after a few years.For my most recent visit, I ordered a Philly roll, house roll, edamame and hot tea. I was also given sashimi which was accidentally served to me, but they let me keep it at no cost.The sushi rice was dry, almost stale as though it has been made several days ago and kept in a fridge. The Philly roll just tasted... off. Very off. Ive had lots of sushi and it was clear there was something just wrong with the ingredients.The edamame was cold and barely garnished with salt. Usually this dish is served warm and amply garnished with salt so its a warm flavorful experience all around. This was neither.The hot tea was of course good, but it was served in a single small cup (no accompanying pot) and my waitress never offered a refill or checked to see if I needed a refill even though I finished it early on.And the sashimi... I feel like I shouldnt complain about this because it was free, but some of the cuts of fish were weirdly hard and rubbery, like I was chewing the rind of a watermelon.For the record, I didnt get sick from any of the food so whatever was wrong with the taste wasnt a matter of expired ingredients or anything of the sort.All that aside, the interior is clean and modern, the staff are friendly (aside from not checking on my drink situation). I want to believe I just had a bad one-off experience but with my first visit not being great either Ill sadly have to pass on coming back here.

Ive been coming to this restaurant since the first ownership back in the mid 90s when it was great !New ownership took over a few years back and their service, quality and amability has declined on a scale from 10 down to 1.The most recent issue was they dont answer the phone any longer after 7:30 pm for to go orders even though they advertise they close at 9 pmI went into the restaurant in 2 separate days after they ignored the phone calls since I live very near by. People dining, some tables available, food on their prep lines. They said theres not food left because It was a busy night.It seems that the chef or main cook there got to lazy to continue preparing sushi after certain hour because hes been working by himself.That was my last time going to this place after they treated me like that way and I will not recommend this restaurant any more

Have been going to the Sushi House for years when it was under different ownership . We went this evening, the food was good, prices were fine and the wait staff were very sweet. The problem was, we were seated facing the sushi chef. What I observed was him looking down at his phone, you could tell he was touching his phone as well, then scratched his head, touched his face, then started cutting up some fish for an order. No gloves, which arent actually required, but washing your hands before preparing food definitely is. Gross

Husband and I flew into town and did a Google search for sushi near the airport. We hoped to find an all-you-can-eat spot, but no luck. Sushi House had decent reviews and VERY reasonable prices. The place has that neighborhood joint feel. The interior is a little lived-in and cozy, but it works here. The sushi was fair. Not bad by any means, but a little on the blah side for flavor. This may be a good spot for someone new to sushi that doesnt want a heavy fish flavor. Meh....Ill pass on this one next time.

Very disorganized service. Order repeated three times was still wrong.Sushi is on par with any low cost Japanese places run by non-Japanese. Udon broth had a unappetizing flavor that I cant pinpoint, therefor cannot recommend.Overall, the food seemed to be rushed together and was mediocre. Sometimes speed of service isnt a positive. I wont be back.

I love this place! I have been coming here for years the fish is always of the highest quality and they have amazing handcrafted specials such as the sunrise: salmon slices wrapped around crab meat topped with tobiko and a quail egg. Gorgeous to look at and delicious to eat. They offer a full menu of lunch specials and have a huge dinner menu and a decent sake and beer list too. Its a small place come early for lunch or if youre solo sit at the bar. Try it! You wont be sorry you did!

Great place to get a bento box and very good prices. The sushi however was room temperature which was weird. The server was attentive up until it was time to give the bill. I waited about 15-20 minutes without seeing a server to give us the check.

Great neighborhood spot with a large selection to please all family members. Dont miss the specials on the board. Tonight there was a truly amazing Salmon Belly Carpacio. I had to fight the kids to get a second bite. The bento boxes are pretty standard. The sushi is consistently good. They offer Donburi and Udon and othet selections for the no sushi guests, so everyone is happy.

Poor service ask staff to clean our dirty/sticky she just said to transfer to another table but all tables are all the same dirty/sticky. My wife ordered spider roll and theres no avocado in them. I ordered niku donburi but it didnt even come close to a typical donburi. Beef was not marinated properly.

One our favorite sushi places. They always greet you with FREE miso-soup which is super clutch. The menu is decent. Not huge, but very reasonably priced. They have a TV which usually has sports or something on behind the sushi-bar.

Been going there for years. Excellent Sushi. Things changed. They were busy with a large party so we got seated in a small table in the back.First time we had bad service. First messed up her order. Then didnt bring fork she requested. Then finally never brought my rolls only the seafood salad. Had to have them put the rolls in take out containers. Their house salad seaweed salad mix seafood and spicy dressing has changed from seaweed to iceburg lettuce.Server es No intiendo ingeles! ! No TIP! !! Normally they would have great food and great service. Must have been a bad hair day.

Everything here is delicious, do come in before rush hour in order to get the best service. The staff is nice and the bento dinner box have great selections for a really good price. Yaki Soba Is my two year olds favorite. It is family and group friendly- which is always a plus for me.

Rearranged seating from previous visits, food is good but small portions. Example is tempura is one shrimp with 4 pieces of vegetable tempura. Usually the order is two shrimp with 6 pieces of various vegetable. I think Sushi house use a smaller bento box. Sashimi order had 5 types of fish. (I asked the waiter for identification and ignored, flagged the other waiter for sashimi identification). The order was mixed up or the cook and waiter are confused because my wife got my entree and I got her entree and salad. My sons order is correct. They use mason jar cups with a handle. Interesting! Will not be coming back. Left a 15% mercy tip, when none should have applied. This was the last stop after looking at San Mateo Avenue SanBruno restaurants, and prices average 2 digits all over. We want to buy lunch not buy the restaurant!

Have dined here on several occasions. The prices are really reasonable. The Happy Bento dinner special mixes three different entrees in one bento allowing for quite the variety. The portions were of good size, allowing you to order a good combination of a bento and an extra serving of rolls, like a spider or dragon roll. I really enjoy the teriyaki beef. I was a little disappointed that the chirashi was smaller than I expected. It gets really crowded during the dinner hours so it pays to get there really early. Despite that, it is becoming one of my favorite little restaurants to eat at for special occasions or with some family.

Great little hide out in the old fashion shopping strip. Have parking space in both front and rear of the restaurant. Good service. Lunch bento box is the best for its value. Same types of bento in San Francisco is at least 5 to 7 dollars more in general with smaller portion. Tempora is just right,soft crispy but not greasy at all. Stomach and wallet are both satisfied !!

Quality is always delicious! Order the lunchtime bento boxes for $7.95-$8.95. Its a generous amount of food and it comes with choices such as tempura, California roll, and teriyaki with chicken, salmon, or beef. The chicken oya kodon is also delicious. Some of my favorite rolls include the Super Dynamite and 49er roll.

The environment is elegant and clean, and the sanitation is very good. After ordering, it comes out very quickly. We often go to eat.
