Great little sushi spot! Moderately priced, my bento box was about $20, and the server we had was sweet and came by every once in a while to make sure the food was to our liking. I got a california roll and tonkatsu as my 2 main orders for my bento. I ordered the Nutella cheesecake for dessert, a little too frozen but once it was room temp it was great!The inside lobby is nice, I feel like the seating could be updated more but overall a wonderful experience for my first time going. My brother loves this place!

I must say that I was skeptical at first. Our favorite sushi place was closed, so we decided to try Sushi Ichiban and were NOT disappointed! On the contrary - the size of the sushi rolls in relation to the fresh fish proportions and $$ - was very good! The staff was very friendly, attentive, patient, and simply fun to talk to! We will definitely be back for more!

I have been here several times to dine in and have experienced the slowness and rudeness that other reviewers have commented on. It’s like they’re not even trying, really. Maybe Ichiban realizes they have the corner on the Sunday market so why should they care? Just kidding, they treat you this way the rest of the week too.Hubby put in our order online at 6pm and it told us a 45 minute wait. So he left the house at 6:45 to go pick up the order. When he arrived, he was told “we see your order online, but we didn’t make it.” Great. Not really surprised. They told him it will be another 30 minute wait. 37 minutes AFTER that, hubby headed back with food. I guess it was correct and fresh?The food itself was barely meh. Two of the rolls were so big that they were almost impossible to fit in your mouth (and I have a big mouth). I wish I had listened to my gut and just heated something up here at home. We spent over $80 on this experience after all.

Truthfully I was not satisfied for having paid $50 for 2 rolls. One roll was extremely big having a lot of crab in it. For a $23 roll I would rather a small higher quality one than a big lower quality one. Both rolls were smothered in sauce taking away from the flavor of the fish. Depends on preference I guess.

I love sushi and my fiancé too! So we just got to the city (just moved) and this was our first family dinner place! The girls loved the udon soup, my fiancé got a noodle spicy soup and was delicious! I got rainbow roll and it was so good. We will be back for sure. There was a waiting list to get seated but it was worth the wait.

First time weve visited the restaurant. We went in on a Friday night and didnt have to wait. Server was quick and attentive. 3 people with appetizers and meals was around 90 bucks, as we all got multiple items. Food was delicious and fresh. We will definitely be going again.

I instantly got the smell of fish when I walked in the door. I thought the food was going to be better. I waited for an hour for the food and it sat up there for 20 to 30 minutes and when it finally got to me. The sushi smelled bad. I didn’t eat even eat the sushi. An older Asian lady who Im assuming to be the owner of the restaurant was EXTREMELY rude when I went to go pick up my order. Thankfully, one of the workers there intervened and helped me with getting my food and out the door. Other than that, the food was great and very delicious. The dressing for the salad was watery but still good. Kinda pricey but well worth it. I just hope that lady chills and learns how to speak to her customers.

First time trying this place and the last time. I was given the incorrect item and instead of being kind and understanding Angelica was rude, snotty and unapologetic! Was shocked actually of how insensitive she was about the situation especially when it was kinda her fault. I went to the register where another employee was working and explained the situation to her and she removed the item from our bill as I was not gonna eat it anyway. Then Angelica came back and picked up the ramen bowl and said she would delete it from the check. I told her I already had it done but she ignored me and found out herself when she went to the register.

Great food, but pricey. The menu pictures on Google do NOT reflect accurate pricing. There is no more lunch special pricing. I ordered a bento box thinking it was $11 and change. I walked out paying $22 for it! I can order all you can eat sushi elsewhere for that amount! Highly recommend double checking pricing.

I love the sushi rolls here. My favorite roll is the My Friend. I end up coming here often on Sundays as this is the only local sushi spot open on Sundays. There is generally a wait regardless of the number of customers which is the only downfall I have came across.

Honestly this place wasn’t worth the money. I love Japanese food and I don’t really think I’ve ever not liked chicken from a Japanese place. We got 2 bento boxes and one sushi roll and it was over $50. So we were expecting it to be really good. The to go order didn’t come with an Utencils or napkins or soy for the sushi which was weird. And I got a chicken teriyaki and sesame chicken bento and the teriyaki was good but the sesame was just weird. Don’t think we’ll go here again

It was crowded when we got there and we had to wait like 25 to 30 minutes to get in and be seated but it was worth it. The staff is so friendly and the food is incredibly good. The prices are good as well. We tried noodles, sushi, some entrées (jalapeño poppers) and the tea is perfect! Will be back for sure!

My mom does not do spicy at all. She ordered one roll that did not have a spicy pepper by it and for her unfortunately it was pretty spicy. Im very unclear what the point is of putting spicy on the menu if you are going to put spicy sauce on non spicy rolls🤷🏼‍♀️🤣🤦🏼‍♀️ I still gave it a 3 because the food was absolutely amazing. But having somebody that struggles with everything being too spicy that was definitely worth taking a few stars away

This area is not known for good sushi that you would expect in bigger areas. COVID really did some damage to the restaurant industry and its really not fair to blame them. The restaurant used to be a burger restaurant and maybe something else before that so it doesnt have that appeal of a sushi restaurant as you would expect. Food is relatively good and the service as well. However, I just do not like the advertisement on their menu for crab and its the fake crab. When even asking if its fake or not fake they will tell you its real crab and serve you the fake crab which I will not eat. To each his own I suppose. Its an option in Yuba City other than another restaurant but that one is so darn busy and you kind of get the same feeling like you are waiting in line because theres tons of takeout over there.

The younger staff was very nice but the server we had was condescending to my mother about switching out her dish. I asked the person at the counter if we could just add another dish to our order when our server came up and told me to go back to my table as if I was being rude to the nice gal at the counter who was helping me. She tried doing it again when I asked for a to-go box then had me follow her to the space they kept the boxes handed it to me aggressively and rolled her eyes. I do feel bad for distracting their other servers but if the waitress/owner wasn’t so unpleasant I wouldn’t have wanted to avoid her. Definitely not going there again to have my mother or myself pushed around in an arrogant elitist and hostile environment.

Took a little longer than I prefer to get the food out but it was amazing. Never was offered a refill on water, wasnt checked on, and the seats are very uncomfortable. The booths are much too tall for the table for a diner to have a perfect experience. But really... the food was amazing!

After paying over $70, the waitress, Bora, came back and told me to add tips to the final payment. That was really rude of her asking customers to add tips. I usually give tips on my own free will if the food is great; however, the sushi I ordered there are rolled sloppy and the miso is super salty and that’s why I didn’t give tips in the first place. Will not return.

The service was great, the food was so good. The sushi is fresh and wonderful. We were there for our daughters birthday, she asked if they would sing for her so they brought us free desserts and sang to her. They even made sure they used her name instead of how some places just say to you. The servers even took the time to come at different times to ask her about her birthday, etc which was very nice. Best birthday dinner ever she said. We will be going back soon

I attempted to order dinner for my family for take out. Prior to leaving at about 6:15pm, I called numerous time with a constant busy signal and I tried to order online which failed repeatedly. Thinking it was due to technology error I went to order in person.When I got to the restaurant and the front desk employee informed me that they were not taking additional take out. This was at 7:00pm and hour before they closed.I can understand wanting to be able to clean up but to not answer the phone or have it listed on there online order is disrespectful. I not only wasted my time but also have a negative opinion which would make me want to go somewhere else for sushi..Communication needs to be improved.

Took the whole family here. The price was actually better than I thought it would be. The portion sizes were ridiculous. The kids bento would easily have fed me. As it was at least two people shared one. I had a regular dinner bento by myself and in hindsight probably should have ordered the kids one. Definitely will be coming back.

The food is absolutely amazing! This used to be the place that we would go for our sushi. However, the service of one waitress caused my family, friends, and I to never go back. In the first incident, my friends and I came to the restaurant to eat and were treated poorly by said waitress. There were a lot of annoyed sighs when she had to put a couple of tables together for our group of 7 adults, and just an overall aggravated demeanor with us. When a couple friends showed up late and asked for a little bit more time on the menu, she sighed impatiently, flipped her hair, and walked away. A very unpleasant way to be treated. The second and final incident was when we decided to give it one last try. Sadly we got the same lady, with the same mannerisms through out the meal. Except this time when we were given our receipts she tapped the receipt several times and said gratuity. The food is excellent, and the other waitresses were very nice, but just hope you dont get her as your server.

The food here is alright, I would not say great. But there are only two sushi restaurants in the area since the one on Plumas Ave. burned down. The reason I come here is the chicken they use on their Beto Boxes is very good compared to Kenzos. The chicken that Kenzo uses is very tough while Ichibans is very tender. But the owner is something else. If you are waiting there trying to make a to-go order she will finish doing what she is doing, no matter how long it takes before taking your order. And she never smiles while taking the order. Dont expect them to bag your order if it is only in one container. I dont know how many times I have to ask for my food to be put on a bag. And I not talking about a small container either. If the owner would be a little friendlier I would give a couple of more stars.Update:So, I call right when they open and no one answers the phone just a busy signal. I keep calling during lunch time and then mid-day too but to no avail. It must have been a weekend since I was calling even in the middle of the day. Around dinner same thing, just a busy signal all day long. About 45 minutes before closing I decide to head to the restaurant instead. As I am getting ready to go inside Inotice a group of 7 or 8 go inside and I follow afterwards. I go to the front desk and say I want to make an order to go. Well, guess what response I get? We are not making to go orders because we are behind and cannot help you. So, you can seat a table of 7 or 8 people and that is not too large of an order but my order for one person would be too much for your staff to handle? I assume because I was not a dine in customer with no gratuity to leave I am shunned. Hey, just my assumption so dont hate, ok? The waitress just said sorry and I walked out without saying anything. Ill keep the one star review in place since they could not accommodate my one person order. Oh, that particular day Kenzo was doing the same thing, not answering their phone either.

We came here at the time our other favorite place was closed for Sundays. We usually take kids and this place did not have any french fries, so you wont find any here. I am not sure what happened this day but our server seemed very stressed out. She was definitely not happy to see us. We learned that they have 1 cook and 30 visitors. I can understand that, because I have worked with sushi restaurants before. The problem we had is that they could not customize our order because my wife has allergies to shellfish. She said they were to busy. I think its a bad move. If you are stressed, workout something that could make you customers happy so they can comeback. Discounts work great in this situation or desert. I seen small restaurants with one cook and they handles stress just fine. I understand the stress, but dont brush it off on your customers. Its like shooting your self in a foot. The food is good, but service is terrible and wait time is slow. Unless you want to get abused for food with arrogance, its your choice. Not good for kids. I will check on them again one day, but I wont change my review unless they change their ways for customer service.

There’s always an issue ordering from grubhub. The time is always pushed back late and they just cancelled my order on me after already waiting an hour because the totals didn’t match up. When I went to call she said there were 2 sushi orders and mussels which I never ordered in the first place. Instead of double checking the order again and taking off the mussels she cancelled my whole order. I order here a lot and spend good money here, it’s good food but come on.

Ordered takeout ahead of time online. Only a small Bento box and a sushi roll and pot stickers. The online email confirmation said my order would be ready in 60 minutes. Order was placed at 4:47pm. Went to pick up the order at 5:59pm (its a bit of a drive from my house, hence ordering ahead of time). You cant even call to confirm eta because their phone line has a constant busy signal. At 5:59pm they had not even started the order and gave an ETA of 25 minutes. By 6:40pm the order was still not ready. Finally, at 7pm, over an hour of waiting in town, and waiting a whole hour before driving there, the order was ready. Horrible customer service. Give Kenzos in town your business instead. They take a while as well but they atleast confirm when it will be ready. So if you are trying to decide where to go...AVOID this place if you value your time. Also they do not care and are rude.

She clearly could not multitask taking phone orders and helping with people in front of her. I gave her my name. She kept saying Erica. I told her my name, which wasn’t Erica. She then asked for my phone number, which I proceeded to give her and she walks away while I’m reciting my number. She comes back with a receipt, that had my name on it. And said, “All I have is an Erica. Did you place your order online?” Now I can see the slip she is holding, clearly it has my name on it. I said, “No, you have my order, because that is my name and order on the slip, you are holding.” There is nothing worse, than someone who cannot admit they were wrong, or can’t apologize to their customer for the misunderstanding. I will not be returning. I will keep going to Kenzos, here in town.

The sushi was as good as you can get in this area. Theres not much competition. 3.5 stars.The real story about this place is the CULTURE of bad service which starts at middle management. I will explain. As we enter we are greeted with a smile towards the table. I look and smile at the suchi chefs (2) and both looked down showing how unhappy they are. A waitress heads towards us but Id redirected at the last step to wipe a table that no one is waiting for. Its 430 and the place is early empty. After 8 more min another waitress takes our order. The food comes on. Boat which is nice. The rest od our visit was predictable. It seems as customer service that we expect from other places ( cheerfully greeting from chefs and staff) werent a practice here and management choosing to stop staff from taking a order are just bad decisions Im assuming plague and hold back this restaurant from being better. At least service wise.

This place is horrible if you work for DoorDash, GrubHub or any other food delivery app. I called in an order for a customer and the employee who took my order said it would take 30 mins. I arrived at Sushi Ichiban 5 minutes before the scheduled pick up and waited in the car for 5 minutes to give them their 30 minutes to create my order. I gave them another 5 mins because of the social distancing rule. I went in pick up my order and she said it wasnt ready and that it would be 10 more minutes. I went next door to Rite Aid to kill time. I was in the store for 15 minutes and went back to pick up the order and it still wasnt ready. I was told that it would be another 15 mins. I ended up waiting an hour for my order. Horrible with delivery app orders.

The owners are amazing people & run an excellent business!!! We walked in and no one acknowledged us. When it was finally our turn they pointed at us then at a booth. Food took FOREVER!!! It wasn’t the sushi guys either, they were busting them out and the waitresses were soooo slow the food was just sitting on top of the counters waiting for them to take it! Then the roll was so tiny we had to order another one and I went up and told her (because she never came and asked us if we needed anything or if our food was good) then about 15 minutes later comes over and asks us what we want to order... after I had told her and pointed to it on the menu initially. The kid got friend california rolls, which I tried and were my favorite, but the kid didnt like for some reason. Good portioning on the rolls tho! Hubs got some spicy rolls of some sort and he scarfed it down, his review might be better than mine. My meal was just not what I expected. I have not been here in about 3-4 years. The last time here me and my mom came at around 11 a.m. and came in not knowing they opened at 11:30. The door was unlocked so we went in. Well, the owner gave us a look like we should have known better than to come in so early. She told us in a a very rude way, open in 30 minutes and started saying something under her breath while giving us a dirty look. We just left and have not been back since. Well, today I decided to see if anything has changed. I called in a pick up order and tdd he person could not understand I just wanted a bento box with teriyaki chicken and California rolls. I get there and guess who is at the register. The rude owner with the same attitude . No smile just puts my order on top of some menus and I guess I was taking too long putting my wallet back in my pocket so she says right here while looking at me. So, this is the last time I will ever come here. Some of you might be saying she is not from here and there is a language barrier. Well I say how long has she had this restaurant and how long has she been in the U.S.A. get a grip and start smiling and stop with the holier than thou attitude.

Okay this was Small Town Sushi. Dine in with friends or family and it seems faster service and great atmosphere. I gave you guys a 5 star because the food is delicious. But there is a waitress named Bora. She is rude, she doesnt wanna help you, she wants to rush you. Bora has poor customer service and a poor attitude. If you ask for a refill on your drink she rolls her eyes. Im sorry but that is not good customer service and if you would like your customers to come back. She needs to check her attitude at the door before she starts her job. I found the quality of the tuna sashimi to be subpar, I have had better at Ninja Sushi in Roseville. However, the cuts were very generous and the salmon was excellent. There’s one over by beach hut that would be good but they’re service is terrible and the rolls are sloppy and expensive.
