I got the Vegas Roll. I would even argue it’s the best roll I’ve ever had. The ENTIRE staff was nice and checked in on us very often. Prices were amazing especially because they had a 50% sushi roll deal. The rolls came out within 5 minutes of ordering. HIGHLY recommend this place!

This used to be our go to place. A couple years ago, they had big, fresh pieces of fish.The last 2 trips, however, we received spoiled eel then bad ahi. The rice is way dried out, there’s brown avocado, and small portions.It appears Uber eats and the like have killed the quality of their food. I’m sure it’s great for their bottom line, to serve low quality at high margins, without being limited by space constraints. Used to love it here, but we’re not going back.

Definitely ordering the Mango Roll again. That thing is 💯 . The servers were great! And always made sure the drinks were topped off. They even sang happy birthday along with their complimentary tempura green tea ice cream. 👍👍

Yummy food. We’ve come here frequently over the last couple of years, and the food is consistently good. The presentation of the rolls are lovely. We’ve ordered different rolls over the years, and they’ve all been delicious. This time, we ordered a beef teriyaki bento box, a tiger roll, a shrimp crunch roll, and a protein roll. All great. The staff was very attentive and friend, just like they always are.The outdoor area is the spacious and has awnings to keep us in the shade. The outdoor patio is dog-friendly, and the staff even brought out a water bowl for our pup! We didn’t even have to ask! Super thoughtful of them!

Hidden gem in Carlsbad. Warning to all the Sushi Aficionados out there though. This is not your high end sushi by the coast or like one of those fine dining sushi that you bring your partner on a special date. This is a sushi restaurant plain and simple. So I have to rate this based on mid-tier level Sushi Place standardsLets start with the food. The food is amazing, the fish are fresh and the portions are just perfect. Price-wise its not that expensive, because if its expensive, Id rather go to a fine dining sushi restaurant. So they just priced their food just right. We tried unagi, tuna and the oyster and non of them failed. Yes they arent cooked but the chef is confident enough to serve it to us, you guys wanna know why? Heres a little Sushi trivia for you guys. When they are that confident in the kitchen that means that they stand proudly behind the FRESHNESS of their fish, mollusks, echinoderms and crustaceans.Now when it comes to service, they are welcoming but I must say that the front requires more training. I ordered a Sake but our server forgot to put it in our bill. Since I am an honest customer, I did point out that it was missing and they are grateful about it. However what does a well trained restaurant do for customers like that? I dont know maybe a free dessert at least to thank them, but nope they just let us walk away. I mean I know it isnt necessary but I just feel that nowadays, how many honest people/customers are out there? Might as well give the good ones reasons to keep on coming back right? Again its no biggie but Im just sayingLast but not least and this is the reason why it went down from 5 stars to 4 stars. Its the ambience. I feel that the place is a bit crowded. Like for example the table next to us is super close i could literally hear the guy breath next to me.Overall, we had a good experience. Wed definitely comeback. Maybe when we do, they do changes that would make this 5 out of 5 in my book

Parking was not bad. Checkin was quick on Friday night. Service was great and friendly staff. We tried a few simple crunchy rolls, Star Wars roll, and California Beach roll. To us, the California Beach roll was the best. Didnt know they have some other locations. Will definitely come back.

A must try sushi spot in the Carlsbad area! We came here for dinner on a weeknight and it was still buzzing with activity! The menu has a wide variety of options - there’s half price sushi rolls, some unique sushi rolls and the usual teriyaki bowls etc. The jalapeño stuffed roll was yummy! But I would order it as an app for the table. You can’t eat so much fried sushi by yourself:-)They also gave a good collection of sake and beer from Okinawa. We ordered Orion and it was a perfect pairing with the sushi.

We were just visiting in the area and thought we could use a sushi that night. Food came out as expected. Almost all food we ordered came out great Yellowtail girll was the queen but took longer than I thought. It came out after my tummy was half-way full. Carpacio was great. Baked scallop was okay, its impressive display with 🔥 tho. Definitely a great service and ambience. Friendly servers.

Some of the best sushi around. The prices here are unbeatable most dishes are always 50% off. This has to be one of the best places to go in Carlsbad if you have a birthday the experience is amazing. In my opinion the best roll is the Star Wars roll it tastes delicious so so good. Th staff here is always very friendly and the store is always busy and often full. Highly recommend if you are looking for sushi in the area.

The sushi here was oh so good. Not only were the ingredients fresh and the portion sizes ample, but the sushi rolls were a visual treat to behold. The 50% off menu made it affordable for the whole group to enjoy one of our favorite meals. Ive included photos of my order. A friend brought the whole gang here for his birthday. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant when I come back to San Diego.

I was disappointed in their sushi. It was kind of bland, not at all like the layers of flavor I am used to tasting in other places I have visited.The service was friendly and the atmosphere of the restaurant was excellent but you do go to a restaurant for the food primarily so I dont think Ill be returning to this particular sushi place.

This spot is absolutely lovely. Service was lightning fast. We ordered veggie tempura, a caterpillar roll and a Star wars roll, and some assorted nigiri. The tempura was everything we wanted, beautifully crispy and a good variety. The rolls were also yummy, but the nigiri was absolutely spectacular. Really top of my list. Cant wait to visit again.

Took delivery of an order, but there was a roll missing. The portions are pretty small so without this item, we did not have adequate food for dinner. I called the restaurant and the manager argued that it was not possible that we were missing an item from our order and refused to accept responsibility. He then told us to go to the restaurant to sort out the problem, but even then did not state what he would do, as he still argued that no mistake had been made. We gave up. Zero points for customer service and will never order from this restaurant again.

Tempura cali and regular cali were very good. And super big this time around! Miso soup was salty af and that’s not a complaint!!! All of the waiting staff took turns coming around to our table and everyone except the older Asian lady was great. That lady was a bit rude and walked away from our table when someone in our party was mid-sentence to go get some other food. It’s not a big deal but it does make us apprehensive of if she’s going to f with your food for causing her to mess up her workflow or asking too much of her. That wasn’t cool but overall I’d be back.PS it seems that inflation has hit this places prices especially hard. I remember when a regular cali roll would be like 4 bucks! Sheesh gone are those days!

We were welcomed and seated promptly.The sushi chef, Brian was very impatient and snappy. I hope he was just having a bad day.They serve a combo of Japanese and Korean dishes. Its more of a fusion place that Japanese. As long as you know that going in, there is little room for disappointment.The hot green tea was like warn at best. I give them thumbs up for Toro and Hamachi quality.The fried salmon skin should be just with a sprinkle of salt. Please stop heavily breading it and adding all that mumbo jumbo.The grilled Hamachi kama is the bomb! It was great.It took them over 20 minutes to prepare my check. Ai yai yai...

Since my last review was taken down, probably by the owner since they actually write back to people. Don’t go here. Terrible service. The young lads are terribly rude. The whole experience was terrible. At least, shout out to the sushi chefs. Other than that, there’s better places to spend your money at. They have the most stuck up, arrogant, condescending staff ever. Maybe if you hire nice and decent people you wouldn’t have to troll your reviews because your staff is actually doing what they are suppose to do and act how they should. If I could give it 4.5 stars I would. We had the 3x5 Sashimi, Baked Scallops, Super Dragon Roll and Soft Tofu Stew with dumplings.Best dish - Super Dragon. Dragon rolls are always my testing dish. Super Dragon which uses real snow crab really makes a difference.The other 3 dishes were par for the course and met expectations.*** Note that is really a $$ experience and NOT $ ***$$ aside, this would be a place I would recommend and would visit again when visiting Legoland.

Had the lunch sushi special; it was all in all fresh. Would come back for lunch since it wasn’t crowded at noon. The service was good and pretty fast, so no need to worry about a long lunch. We could’ve been in and out in 45 mins if we were more decisive with what we want.

We love this place! Staff is not the fastest or friendliest; however, they get your food to you quickly and accurately.Besides the amazing sushi, they do an awesome birthday celebration! Ive been to multiple Sushi Kuchi restaurants in the area and this is by far the best one! My wife and I always come back to this one and its worth the wait. The food is very fresh and flavorful as opposed to the others which were mostly stale and dull. They are very generous with the amount and their ingredients and it really feels like you got what you paid for and more.

Food was good! Someone in my party had dietary restrictions & the waitress paid close attention to them so that was good. From the time the order was placed, the food came out in 14 minutes. We ordered 4 rolls. The rolls that included imitation crab weren’t proportioned right though. Almost 100% fake crab & you could barely see the avocado. Nice way to save $ for the company but didn’t sneak past my eye. Not the freshest I’ve had, the food was good though.

Excellent sashimi and rolls for dine-in. I recommend dining in rather than take out. It’s never as good when getting it to go. If you get crunchy rolls or anything fried for take out ask them to punch holes in the top of the carton to let the steam out otherwise they will be soggy.

Sushi was typical for American style (fried with creamy sauces) but still tasty.Was a little annoying that they forgot the muscles that we ordered and the dishes were brought out one at a time (we ordered 5 rolls). I was out on the west coast for a business trip and asked Yelp to find me a good sushi place. Sushi Kuchi came up and was an easy ride. Off I went.I was dying for some sashimi and decided to order the small sashimi platter. I also ordered an uni shooter since it looked amazing and unique. I remember thinking that might not be enough for just me, however, I figured Id wait to order more.The shooter was quickly delivered. I loved how much uni it had in it. Of course, to balance that, it came in a wine type glass vs a shot glass, making shooting it a bit difficult. A fair trade imo!As I waited, I watched a lot of good look chefs rolls come out. I began to second guess myself until my small sashimi order arrived. I was expecting 2 of 3 pieces of the usual (tuna, salmon, white fish, etc). What arrived was 3 meaty pieces of each of the usual, along with surf clam and scallop. The plate also came with legit wasabi. Cliff notes - loved the dish, fresh and meaty sashimi.Service was solid. I was a single diner and came in following the normal dinner rush but was provided plenty of attention. I sat at a table but would probably go for the chef bar next time.Net - I left full and happy! If I travel back to the area, I will be back. I recommend you check them out.

A lot of great prices. I’m not a big sushi person but I have really enjoyed what I have had here sushi wise. Outside of sushi, everything else is about average but it is a sushi-specialized place after all. Service has always been alright, nothing special. Not really any true complaints about this place but not really somewhere I’d find myself going to all too often.

Went here on a whim and wasn’t too bad. Nothing so delicious that I would stay up dreaming about. We had about a 20min wait for a party of 4 at 8ish on the weekend. Took a bit for someone to come grab our order, the food came out fast then again it took a while for someone to come get the card to close out the tab. I asked my kids for a drink of their lemonade and quickly realized why they didn’t drink it. The lemonade tasted like floral dish soap. I’m guessing something didn’t get rinsed out prior to serving it. I should have asked for the $5.50 back but at that point I just wanted to leave and go home.

Ive been to Sushi Kuchi at a different location and it was much nicer. Maybe it was so dirty because of how busy it was, but I wont be coming back to this location for sure. I took my husband here for his birthday as he loves Sushi. He said it was pretty good. Im not a big sushi person so I ordered the Teriyaki plate with rice and salad. I am from Colorado where the fish is frozen and shipped in. And the fish in Colorado is fresher than this place. Everything was soggy, falling apart, and tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. The service was horrible and the food took over an hour to get to us. When we complained about the wait time and how gross the food was, she was telling us that we were wrong and arguing with our table. She would not even let us speak to the manager. Our waters were empty the entire time and she kept forgetting to put in our orders. It tasted like conveyor belt sushi. I will never eat this trash sushi again. It does not even deserve one star.

Had lunch there during my break from work yesterday. Ordered a role and some nigiri. The nigiri was served to me doused in soy sauce, which sort of ruined it. But the real problem came the next day. The restaurant is basically closed inside and they only have a few tables outside, but if you place an order expect to wait 45 minutes for it, even when there are 5 sushi chefs at the sushi bar! Ridiculous! Waiting 45 minutes for raw fish, they are not even cooking it! I have tried three times to place an order and have had to cancel because of HOW SLUGGISHLY SLOW they are. After 6 you will wait a long time-sometimes 30-40 minutes for your food. I do take often as it is easier and I can time it perfectly so I don’t have to wait for my food. Overall I really like this place and will keep coming back but for an early meal not a date nite later in the evening.

We enjoyed several rolls - Las Vegas Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, Philly Roll, and super fresh nigiri of Albacore, Salmon (Like BUTTER!) and of course Tuna. Everything was delicious and timely, and when they found out it was our sons birthday they did this awesome birthday song with strobe lights and glow in the dark bday hat. Mixed service quality. First time I went I sat at a table and it was great, good service, food came out fast, server checked up a couple times. Second time was some of the worst service Ive ever had in my life. I sat at the bar this time. I filled out the sheet and while waiting for the server (I ordered Udon as well as rolls) the sushi chef offered to take my order and have the server enter it.The server never came by to refill my water (I had the spicy Udon and it would have been nice to be able to wash it down), never got ginger, server never checked up for the entirety of the meal. The sushi chef checked on me 3 times to make sure the rolls were good, which they were great, but my attempt to flag down a server were futile. The chef asked one of the servers to get my check, which she dropped next to me and ran before I could hand her my card. I waited 7 minutes for someone to come pick up my check to no avail. Luckily I had cash on me and didnt have to wait any longer. Tipped the chefs tip jar 20% and left the server 4 cents. 4 cents too much in my opinion, but I couldnt wait any longer.It was 8:30 when finished my meal and the place was only about 1/4 full with 4 servers on, so it was not overly busy. The people who sat me, brought my udon, took the plates, and dropped the check were 4 different people, so Im not entirely sure I actually had a server assigned to me.Good food, but a critical failure on the service.

Probably the worst food ive gotten from a sushi place. Ordered two Chicken Teryaki bowls off door dash. Food was nearly $40!! (Thats without delivery fee and tip). Rolls we tried:Todo Roll - This was a really unique combo that is a little hard to describe. It was almost like having a vinegar-based salad on top of rolls. The restaurant was pretty crowded when we arrived, but we were seated right away right by the door, and I sat facing the window. It looks like any traditional sushi place, and not terribly large. At one point during our meal, the lights suddenly dimmed and loud music started to play, and then a strobe light started to go off. There was no prior warning that this would happen. I have epilepsy, and just covered my eyes for the duration (maybe a minute?). I started to feel unwell and dizzy after. I let the hostess know that I had a seizure condition and that they may want to take that into account for other customers. I hate being “that person”, I really do!The hostess apologized and everything was fine. Our waitress comes around, curious, and I explain it to her as well. She tells me “there’s a sign” and that I can just “wait outside” when it happens. I turn around, and at the far end of the restaurant, high up under the strobe light is a small sign warning that there may be loud noises and flashing lights and to let a staff member know if there was a concern. I would never had seen that sign from where I was sitting. Maybe a placard at the table or on the menu?The hostess came around a little while later to let me know there would be another round of the flashing lights soon, which was very kind of her. She didn’t know exactly when it would happen, so I opted to leave while the rest of my party finished their dinner.I totally support celebrating birthdays! And I completely understand having their own rules. I was just surprised by how little they cared that their strobe lights could have sent me into an epileptic seizure.I don’t think I will be dining here again.

I cant believe it was seriously going to take over 45 minutes to get the food. To top it off, the staff looked at me like I was out of line for being surprised at the wait time. They were rude.

I am not a fan of sushi so I usually go for something different when I get taken to these places. I must say the bento box was bomb and the tempora was amazing. Gotta try it out

Ok so I went to get lunch from here and the lady said I cant come in without a mask. There was people sitting down eating, obviously not wearing masks. She was also pretty rude in the tone she was speaking in.

The service was terrible. Rose the server was very rude!! Seems the only reason their prices are so cheap is to make up for their horrible service. The food is definitely not worth it.

Food was just okay, I order salmon and yellowtail Kama every time I go to a new place and they served it to me burnt, the sushi I ordered also wasnt cut all the way through, the service was great though.

I would not go back here. Got take out sushi that was slimy. It was uneatable... fed to the dog. I hope we don’t get sick.
