Sushi had overly thin fish and too big of a rice ball. Bento lunch beef was really dry and was mostly chewy tendon with the sauce that attempts to cover it up. Sushi roll was fine but had 0 flavor.The bento box also came with a fortune cookie, confusing me as it’s supposed to be a Japanese restaurant

Simply incredible every time we go. Our previous sushi bar closed due to Covid. We tried all the others in EDH and landed on Sushi Kuma. We have been hooked ever since. It’s simply the best sushi and best service around. We always love our sushi and food (son loves his Chicken Katsu), and the service is always amazing. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Not bad, but could be improved. The rolls are on the smaller side, and it looks like they do not do torched rolls (I asked but the best they could come up with were baked). The service was a bit slow.

Not much pizzaz to their Sushi, pretty straight forward fish,rice,and seaweed mixtured with Avocado. Rice texture was good but they need to enhance their rolls and sauces. They seem to do a lot of take out or delivery orders, which seems to be the #1 priority which really affects service and timing of restaurateurs eating at the establishment. Bento box order delivered and consumed before 4 roll orders of Sushi served. Presentation and service need much attention.

We decided to eat here for dinner around 6pm on Saturday night because of their sign everyday 50% all rolls. The restaurant was starting to fill up but we were seated right away: There were only 2 servers and I had to call one of them to place an order as the tables were getting full. We ordered california roll, tempura roll, rock n roll, spicy tuna roll, and maki. The rolls came out pretty quick.The rolls looked and tasted good but they were rather on the smaller size. But nothing beat the price! Even their special rolls are 50% off. I noticed that there were lots of pick up orders on the table near to the sushi bar. By the time we finished our meal, the restaurant was full. We will definitely come back for the rolls whenever were in the area.

Sushi Kuma is near my work and I love popping in for what I believe is an of the hook lunch. The fish is always fresh and the Bento boxes are moderately priced, perfect for lunch.

I appologize if i offend this place, but look at the location.. its in heart of el dorado and this place does NOT match the atmosphere not for me, not for my friends that came from overseas. Lets start with water they serve-it was from the sink... How do i know? I went to the bathroom just for that to tast the water and the amount of clorax is so strong it smells when you have your cheap plastic glass next to you and it leaves such a horrible after taste that even a sigarette my friend had after dinner did not kill it. Another thing was go to their bathroom and you will see how the top lid of a toilet was mented together from pieces with glue. Seriously? The toilet cost is around 100 bucks.. and last thing was when we came in an hour befor closing and the waitres said we need to place an order now and it will be last one as they are about to close. So, we did place our orders which took little extra because my friends dont speak english and i had to translate. So, when she came back one of my friends was almost done when she abruptly grabed his menu and said she will get on his order and once agian mentioned it was final order due to them closing. We just looked at each other and i said to them not to pay attention but enjoy our evening.

My favorite restaurant to eat American sushi. The quality to price ratio is superb.A bit annoying that I saw at least one review complaining that their food was Americanized though. If you order a roll then dont be surprised that you got a roll. They have nigiri if you want actual sushi. American sushi is great too but it is a completely different food. Yeah they have some similar ingredients but theyre not the same. Chicago style pizza is not pizza, at some point its a different food.Anyway, the ingredients are clearly illustrated on the menus so enjoy whichever type (or both!) you would prefer. And if you would like American, then this restaurant is the absolute best.

I was in the area for a day and stopped here for a quick to-go dinner.I got the yummy yummy roll, California roll, and the salmon skin hand roll. They were all really yummy, especially the salmon skin hand roll.I thought it was so good, I came back the next day and ordered 3 salmon skin hand rolls to go. I finished it at the airport. LolThe Aunty helping me was really nice and so were the sushi chefs. I messed up and called the wrong location the first time around. Don’t make the same mistake as me.If I’m ever back in the area, I’d definitely stop by. YUM

This is literally the worst sushi place I have ever gone too. The fish on my sushi roll tasted as if it hasn’t been kept under proper conditions. I suggest this place have a health inspection because 10 minutes after I left I had to pull over and throw up because the sushi roll I had did not sit well with me. I have gone to many sushi places in Sacramento, and I was in the area so I thought I would check this place out. Not only did our server not refill our drinks or check on us to make sure everything tasted fine, she was trash talking my family and I on our way out. Extremely disappointed with my experience. Of you’re looking for a bad day, eat here.

My wife & I ordered takeout from Sushi Kuma last night, taking advantage of their 50% off rolls special, and the experience was great. They had our order ready as soon as we walked in, packaged orderly & verified it was all there. Our entire family enjoyed the various rolls and combos, it all tasted very fresh, flavorful and had a nice presentation. We will definitely return here.

I feel that Sushi Kuma is the best sushi place in the Placerville to El Dorado Hills area. Good value, quality and usually, service. Sometimes the service is a bit slow and you have to wait longer than expected for drink refills or the check, etc. But the quality of tye food and bang for the buck is top notch 👌

Been here 5 times. 4 out of the 5, the service was great. Tonight was a little so-so and we were one of two tables in there in the beginning.Their rolls and food is too expensive to only be mediocre. My wife has tried multiple rolls. I am usually less adventurous. The boys like the spicy edame and potstickers.

When ordering our take out, we were told we can no longer substitute anything as we were previously allowed to do. We were told there is new ownership and no discounts were allowed either. Also, the prices have increased quite a bit and some of the portions are smaller. The food was good as usual but not worth the price.

This place is rolls heavy and offers 50% off of all the rolls all the time.. So a typical roll will run you $6 to $10.I did try some nigiri while I was here it was quite good.But lots and lots of rolls are the star attraction here.The ambience is a bit lacking.Service is a ok.They tend to be pretty busy because El Dorado Hills goes out to eat a lot.

Updated Review: At my last visit I arrived around 40 minutes before close; one couple was seated and was ordering another set of rolls. I was advised I could only order take out. My toddler and my wife had been looking forward to sushi, so we ordered. I watched the family already seated order more sushi for dine in while we ordered to go. We ate ours on the concrete bench outside and finished before the family staff continued to serve inside. The posted hours do not reflect dine in vs to go times. We were walking to the car when the other family left and putting our son in his carseat when the restaurant closed 10 minutes prior to the posted hours. Customer expectations were poorly managed by the business and I felt my patronage was seen more as a detriment than a priority.Original review from about a year ago: Great little sushi place near Nugget in El Dorado Hills. The rolls are reminiscent of other sushi restaurants in the area and are consistently 50% off.

This place is amazing! The rolls tasted wonderful, I really enjoyed the Red Bull roll and the Sesame Chicken roll, these were my favorites out of the first round here. The prices are good for the amount you get and the delicious flavors! Honestly out of the handful of sushi places Ive been to, including Blue Nami, this is my favorite out of all of them. We will be back!! It will be our stop before going to the movies :)

Havent had any good sushi since moving to Sacramento, thought that was going to change after trying Sushi Kuma. Yet again, met with disappointment.... Staffing was inadequate for a Saturday evening which led to long wait times for rolls. After waiting a half hour for approximately four raw rolls we received what seemed to be hastly made wraps. Attempting to pick up individual pieces led to instant dismemberment. The bento box didnt fair any better. By time we received the contents everything was luke-warm and the serving size itself was hardly worth the price. Not to fear, theyll make sure to give a plethora of ginger while youre waiting for sub-par cuisine.

Been coming here for years. Lots of good flavors, clean, and usually very quick service, but disappointed today when we came at 8:50pm (closing is posted at 9:30pm) and were told we would have to do take out. It took 25 minutes (about 15 minutes longer than usual) to make the take out order of three rolls with no other customers there. Probably going to break up with you Sushi Kuma.

Awesome authentic rolls and fantastic tempura. (Might have to ask for more wasabi and ginger but when don’t you?)And the service is incredible. We had group of 12 there last night and they didn’t skip a beat.Not to mention the prices are insanely low. Like half of what’s normal. For that reason we used to love Blue Nami but we’ve had poor service there on our last two trips down to Sac.My wife and I will be happy to make Sushi Kuma our new tradition to get our sushi fix while we’re in the beautiful golden state.

This place is awesome. They have a huge selection of half off rolls. The half off rolls end up being $5-$8 for some pretty amazing sushi. This place is kid friendly, it has plenty of parking, the bathrooms were very nice and the service is stellar. Highly recommend trying this place as it may become your new favorite place to eat. Definitely a hidden gem worth trying, food came out looking like art and tasted great. They have beer and saki, we got a tall hot saki for $6.50. The miso soup was pretty good and only $1.50 per bowl. Enjoy and give me a thumbs up if you liked it.

This is my familys favorite local sushi spot, we have been going here for years upon years. Always the same staff, they are kind and efficient. The food is great and the prices are very reasonable. We prefer this establishment over the high end sushi restaurants, we go here for nearly everyones birthday in my family, as well as quick date bites.

Ordered through Doordash. Food took an hour an a half to be ready instead of the estimated 40 minutes. Meat in teriyaki was chewy and cold. Dressing for side salad looked disgusting (was gray and didnt smell like anything good or bad) and miso soup (the cheapest item to make) was more $ than most places and half the size Id expect.

We ate there last night. Except for the snow crab nigiri, I was happy with the food and service. The snow crab nigiri was very, very dry. It tasted like it was freezer burned and had been frozen and thawed several times. It did not taste like any sweet crab sushi I had in Japan. Perhaps I had a different crab species there? Anyway, my advice is to avoid their Kani Sushi. The half-priced rolls we had are tasty and a great deal for these wonderful (California?) creations (even if called Las Vegas).Of course none of the traditional nigiri sushi was as good as what I had in Japan. Freshness is key in Japan, and it takes years for an apprentice to advance to making the sushi.Dont get me wrong. We will go back.
