Ate here for my fourth time in the last few years. Got the bento box with teriyaki salmon and California rolls.The salad was great, as was the salmon. But my son and I were very disappointed with the rolls. They tasted like Mayo and rice, no crab taste at all. The rice also seemed soggy which is probably from the excessive mayo.Ive noticed this lately at 2 other sushi restaurants that we frequent. One in Capitola the other in Monterey. It made me wonder if theyve all started buying a premix from the restaurant supply company. I asked our waitress today and she assured me that they mix it themselves but said there is also the option of asking for snow crab. Extra charge of course, but I think Ill try that next time and tell them to go light on the mayo.The atmosphere is very nice, most tables were full but they seated us right away. And the food presentation is great.If you dont care about extra mayo, Id definitely recommend this place.

I got the spiderman roll and it was good! I also recommend the chicken teriyaki roll, cant go wrong with that! This is our favorite sushi place. Its delicious with surprisingly low prices. The waiter that served us last Saturday at 4 pm was fast and efficient even though she was the only one! Get them some help, manager/owner!!! Whether you dine in, take out or deliver this place is worth it.

Lunch with my wife and new grandson. They were friendly, attentive and very accommodating to an older couple with a 4 month old baby. Service was outstanding. We had the Crunchy Scallop roll, the I Love You roll and tempura Soft-shell Crab. The Crunchy Scallop roll was incredible, the shellfish fresh, sweet and delicious. The Hamachi used in the I Love You roll was not as tender or flavorful as Im used to, but the rest of the seafood used made up for it.

Was disappointed with todays dinner. Sushi was good. Chicken teriyaki bowl, the chicken was over cooked making it very dry. We never got our drinks refilled. They didnt bother checking up to see if we needed anything else. They stood in there corners chatting it up. Will not be returning.

6 of us ordered a variety of sushi and sashimi. I am vegetarian and had fried tofu in a sauce and the veggie roll. The tofu was pretty tasteless. The sauce didnt offer much flavor. The sushi fell apart to the touch though presented beautifully. My sweetheart had sashimi which he said was good. Everyone enjoyed the flavored edamame. The service was good but we wont choose this restaurant again. There are too many wonderful Japanese restaurants to enjoy that prepare their food beautifully and with awesome flavor.

One of my favorite sushi restaurants. Ive ordered many rolls and bento boxes but I had to review the Gilroy Roll. This thing is sexy! A little sweet, a little spicy and bursting with flavor!! I recommend eating it with the fresh chopped wasabi

Our first visit to this place. Staff are unfriendly. As I opened the door to get in, one of the waitress yelled at me to wait outside. We waited about 10 min outside. We ordered combo plates of chicken teriyaki and spicy tuna roll. First of all, chicken teriyaki is stir-fried chicken. Which tasted odd and old. The tuna in my roll was bright red color, obviously to conceal the freshness of the fish. I doubt that was actually tuna. I was too scared to eat them - only 1 slice of the roll. I will not be returning to this place.

I ordered from this place at least over 6 years ago. My second time ordering, I got off work and was craving cali rolls. Ordered my meal and the lovely cashier never gave me change. I assume she thought my cents were her tip. Customer service tip…… allow the customer to tip dont assume anything. Because of this 1 interaction. I will never return. I really enjoyed the Heart Attack!! It was SO good and I failed to get a picture of it. We also got the spicy rice...dont even bother. Even at $2/3, its not worth it, honestly unsure why its on the menu (to each their own, I guess). We tried the What the heck roll and the redhead. The redhead is ok, Im not a huge fan of fried rolls but if you are, youll love it!! The other roll was so good! Service was ok but they did seem a bit understaffed so I guess thats why it was just ok and not great. Also, their water does not taste like tap water (worth nothing, for some). My boyfriend says this place is better than Ninja Sushi, guess well have to be back to be certain. Definitely a must try, Definitely going to stop by again (numerous times). It just over $50 for everything so its Definitely worth the try.

Great place for a healthy lunch. The only reason I didnt give it a 5 star its because the fish was not as fabulous as I had hoped and it was slightly overdressed, too soggy for my taste. I wouldve liked it plain, no sauce or fat added. The oysters though... Unbelievable, just perfect! Overall the portion size, price, service and attendance on point. Will come back when in the area.

Food was good and the garlic edamame was very good. The chicken teriyaki chicken was a little stringy. The Playboy roll wasnt as good as I thought it would be. The spicy Mexican roll was delicious. The Miso soup was good, but how can you go wrong with miso. The California roll was good. The service was great! I called my order in the young man that worked on Sunday around 2 was phenomenal. Very polite helped me choose the items as I did not have access to a menu. He helped me find everything I was looking for and told me 20 to 30 minutes. I only waited about 2 minutes for him to get to me and get my order everything was complete and correct. I will be back to try some different items I saw a couple of big old bowls of soup people are eating that looked delicious try that next time!

Great place for sushi in Gilroy. Fish is always fresh. Service can be slow sometimes, but overall is generally good. Portions are a little larger than average. Price is consistent with the going rate of sushi restaurants. The atmosphere is OK. Sports on TVs, and there is an outdoor dining area. I enjoyed my meal and will return.

Worst sushi weve ever had.The rolls were super soft, falling apart between the chopsticks. Flavor of the rolls wasnt good, tasted very plain, no flavorful fish. My husband and I come here often. Food is always good, as well as their service, but sometimes it takes forever to get our food. Sometimes its not even busy and we have waited over 45mins for a cucumber, shrimp salad and a roll. Sometimes one of us will get our food and when that person is done, the other one will than get their food. After we order we always say, lets see who eats first today. Other than that, its a good place and we will continue eating here.

The food was pretty much on par tonight which is good but the service was quite poor. Actually it has been poor the last few times weve come for our take out order. They had only two servers tonight and the last time they only had three, I believe. Plus the workers dont seem to be trained for a specific job; hostess, order filling, seating, serving, etc. We have been asked by each of the servers each time whether we wanted a table, were waiting for a table or wanted to place a to-go order; usually several times. They run about rather haphazardly. Im not sure whether its poor management or unreliable staff leaving them in the lurch and short staffed but this is getting tiring. They lost several groups tonight because they were so disorganized and so behind. Our order was 40 minutes late; and ended up not being complete when we got home. The food is usually wonderful so well try one more time. Hopefully theyll get their act together.

I’m honestly very disappointed in my experience here last night, as I’ve been here multiple times before and never had an issue.. had dinner here last night and the food was good, but the place was a disaster. Tables hadn’t been cleared, there were dishes stacked on top of them with half eaten food the entire time I was there. Service was terrible, I felt bad for the staff as they all seemed extremely understaffed and stressed. There was clearly no organized system for them to follow. I don’t blame the employees at all! Where are the people in charge? Because if you were there and if you really care about your restaurant, you’d be disgusted at what I saw. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting… during a pandemic you’d think they would keep it clean. Not sure if I’ll be coming back here.

Great tasting food and good prices, but due to the COVID-19 there service has went down. I ordered take out twice already and they were missing items. I got all the way home just to find out they didn’t put my whole order in the bags. Granted it’s my fault for not checking the bags before I left, but before leaving I had ask if everything is in there. I drive across town to this place because it’s awesome good. All I’m saying is Just make sure you check your bags thoroughly!!

The host told us 25 minute wait for two people to which I said okay that’s fine. Another woman walked up and stood next to the door where I was waiting when another hostess came out and gave her the table I was apparently waiting on. When the male host came back out he told us they gave the table away and he would get us another table. We waited a few minutes and made the walk to the back of the restaurant with the host where they told us they had given the table away to a reservation. So they gave away our table twice and we just left. Not a pleasant experience whatsoever.

We placed an online order for dinner. It took 1hr & 20 min for our order. The hostess told me & everyone else 20 more minutes several times. After waiting over an hour I get home & they did not give me my correct order. I have tried to call several times to get a refund for what was not given but no one answers & voicemail is full. Tempura was soggy & not cooked all the way. Teriyaki steak was bland.A waste of $100.

The sushi was warm, the tempura combo was cold, and I had to wait for awhile for the hostess to help me, (staff didnt know where she was and it wasnt busy). Sorry, but the great prices just arent worth it. I wont be returning unless the staff figures out how to get it together. Sorry.

II went there for lunch on a Friday at 12:15pm . It was not very crowded an we got a table right away. I ordered the sushi mixed deluxe and had miss soup and it was excellent. The waiting staff was nice and the price was very reasonable. Under $50 with tipWell worth it. I really enjoyed the food.

Why I bothered to give this place a third try is a stark reminder on if its not good the first two times. Dont bother. I went in for lunch where it wasnt too terribly busy but there were people. Took us 45 minutes to get our food and after watching one of my raw fish rolls sit out on the counter for 20 minutes not being served to me. I asked to not have it at all.Prices are not bad here. But The quality isnt very good. I dont know why this place has so many people going in and out because I dont care for the teriyaki sauce which for a Japanese restaurant is a big deal to me.Servers are nice although the food comes out very slowly. I was there with a friend who goes there every now and then and mentioned to me that we would probably be waiting a long time. If youre going to come in here for a quick bite expect a long wait. Also dont expect some yummy food. Oh well good thing theres Ninja Sushi.

We almost passed this place up because of some bad reviews. Fortunately we tried it for ourselves and absolutely LOVED it. The service was amazing. Everyone was friendly. I use to love this place and now I refuse to eat here again. Told the server to give me a minute to choose what I wanted and I they completely forgot me. Waited 20 minutes for the server to show back up and 30 minutes for the food. On top of it, I overheard a couple tell an employee that their plates were filthy. When I felt under my plate, there were food and sticky stuff all under the plate. Disgusting and disappointing! Last time Im eating there again.

One of my favorite sushi places! The fish is always delicious and fresh. We order hot sake and beer to go with our fish, both great! This time we tried the rolls with soy paper instead of seaweed and they were fantastic! They have great service and if you go during off hours, you will be seated right away. Weekends and evenings get busy so be prepared to wait. I dont love the ambience but the food makes up for it. A great sushi option in Gilroy!

We happened upon this place while visiting Gilroy and Im glad to say we tried it! They had numerous choices (along with some really different pairings), and it was fun to try a few new things.The atmosphere and the staff were really nice and helpful. No huge push or rush methods and we enjoyed chilling out for a little while.Overall we had a good time and actually want to take a few friends back for some of their special rolls. lol

Food was not as good as it used to be. Tuna was old brown in color - told it was cut fresh that morning and it was already 3pm, teriyaki chicken had barely any chicken and the desserts were stale. I am very disappointed in this. The waitress was kind enough to offer to grab us something else and was very kind. She helped make my experience slightly better but I am still greatly disappointed.

Just went in there for lunch with my little sister. The food was great!! Especially love that they gave her a menu that she could color up and have fun with. The serving sizes are pretty big. I couldnt even finish my California roll by the time I finished my Teriyaki Chicken! However, the California Roll was very good.The staff were all very kind and respecting.The price was 17 dollars for both of us. We got a bento box and Japanese chicken nuggets. Will definitely go there again.

This sushi is good, but the service sucks. They are so slow. If there are empty tables, seat us. Ask what we want for drinks. Dont make us wait 15 minutes while you guys do who knows what. This is the third time we have walked out a headed over to Ninja Sushi. Hire people with experience, have a manager around. This place is lucky it is located in Gilroy with limited restaurants.

I have been here on 3 different occasions during 3 different times during the night; and every single time the service has been slow. The food is ok but it is not good enough warrant how slow it takes to get the food to me. The servers are nice and respectable; however, I keep going back to how long it takes to get the food served. Each time I have gone; whether it be early, middle, or late at night it takes over an hour to receive my order. By comparison, at Kaenyama in Fremont I can order and receive my order in 30 minutes. Plus the food is much better. Of other sushi places within the area, I would rather go to Ninja Sushi or Sushi Nara.

Service is generally slow, staff can be non-attentive to customers at times. It seems like a few of the staff do most of the work while the rest can’t be bothered. Food is great though, and makes the place worthwhile, so be prepared to put up with the wait staff.

Wish i could give a 3.75. I regularly come here and ive realized the food, service, and atmosphere are all hit or miss. When all 3 line up its a 4.5 star place. When the food isnt so hot, the waiters are forgetful, and its full of sports bros (no offense, dude) it takes away from the overall experience. Multiple times i have had fish served to me that is on the brink of expired. Maybe i hold too high of a standard, or maybe they should raise theirs. Either way, fish is best consumed fresh. The staff could try to be a little more professional, and its a shame they ever put tvs in here. Totally distracting and it makes it a not so romantic place. So close.. so close.

Service was very chaotic, several customers that arrived after us had their orders taken. We received our orders late and not all together. We were nearly done when the last sushi roll was brought out. Some tables were unkempt and servers did not check up on us much other than when we got our check to pay.

The food is always amazing, even though when I try new stuff I dont always like it, but that is just me as I can be picky in some things, but there is always someone with me that digs those things that I do not, so win/win!I think I have tried all of the rolls now and I recommend always trying these here until you get a set of those that you prefer. The bento boxes are always good and I recommend that salmon over the chicken.Try their chicken gyoza, garlic edamame, cucumber side salad and seaweed side salad and the G Clooney roll and the Mexican roll are two of our favorites.The staff is ALWAYS amazing!!! Friendly and fast though sometimes when they are slammed things slow down, but it happens to everyone. :)Last but not least is the fresh chopped wasabi... Get it. Just get it. Dont mix it with the soy sauce like one does with the fake wasabi, green colored horseradish, use it lovingly over each roll and savor it! It is sometimes stronger than the fake stuff and sometimes is the same, but the flavor is a little different and the texture is completely different. Give it a try and let me know what you think! I now get sad when I go to a sushi place out of town and ask for fresh wasabi but almost no one else has it...

Went there with a few friends. My wife ordered Tempura Udon noodle soup and asked the waiter for just the noodles. All she got was basically broth with no noodles. When she told the waiter he made up some excuse about giving her order to someone else. He said he would bring the noodles, which never came. She asked him if he could bring me some more water while I went to the rest room. He told her he would bring a to go cup with water. I thought she was joking when she told me what he said. This was our first time here, and to be fair we got a to-go order and did not sit down in the restaurant. Needless to say, we probably wont be going there to dine in...ever.We got the edamame and chicken gyoza. The gyoza wasnt bad, but it was completely tasteless. The sauce that came with it was very strong and vinegary...not typically what comes with gyoza. The edamame had no salt on it, and had water in the bottom of the Styrofoam container and in the individual edamame. Typically edamame is supposed to be crisp and lightly salted...this was neither.Last but not least we got the lobster bisque roll, thinking it would be interesting since we love lobster bisque. It was the grossest sushi weve ever had. First off, they put all the sushi in the box with a large pile of melted cheese on top. Cheese (not cream cheese) and sushi is the last thing I would put on sushi. Then, when you start eating the sushi you realize its not lobster youre eating, but crab. And Im pretty sure it was canned crab too. Besides the one piece of avocado, there was nothing else in the sushi.Normally if a to go order was so so Id go there to get the actual experience, but honestly after this Im not going to even give it that chance.

We love Sushi Omakase so much that we end up there at least three times a month. The waitresses are always helpful and fast, the drinks are strong, and the chefs are amazing. Not sure why people on here had to wait so long, weve never waited more than a 1/2 hour! The garlic edamame is phenomenal, although if there were a way to pierce the shells so the flavor could penetrate the soy beans they would be perfection. The Miso soup is the best, the agedashi tofu in the broth is a must have, although I dont care for bonito flakes but they make for a good show. The basic rolls are splendid, and I love having the option of soy paper rather than nori. The vegetable tempura and udon soup is absolutely ENORMOUS. You can go deep (tempura) any roll, and the Charlie Sheen roll is brilliant, although the two sauces kind of over power the taste. I get mine without it. The smoked salmon and cream cheese roll is great, and you must have the spicy tuna. Finally, if you arent getting the freshly chopped wasabi, you are missing a brilliant taste explosion!
