2023-11-26 15:39:59Son brought me here for my birthday, it was the best sushi I ever had. Place is tiny, but worth the effort to get a reservation. We got the tasting menu, and I loved trying things I might never have gotten on my own.

2022-05-10 03:33:04Aki San is a legend! We were here for course B (14 servings) on a Friday evening. Parking on street was readily available.Excellent hosts making for an excellent night. The whole experience felt harmonious with Aki San’s fun conversation and sushi education.Worth the cost, worth the experience! Definitely recommend!

2023-10-06 09:51:30Place very busy.Very small, restaurant that doesnt accommodate alot of people with long waiting list. Server was very tentative too our table once we got seated! Food was very fresh, and delicious. Would recommend going early, especially on the weekend

2023-07-16 21:46:41More like Sushi No! Not sure what is so special about this place that a reservation is necessary. There was basically a room with all but empty bar seating. A ‘hostess’ rushed to us the moment we opened the door to shoo us out because it is ‘reservation only’.Note: there’s an excellent sushi restaurant just a block or so up the street - very welcoming, very good sushi.

2023-02-25 06:09:53One of the singular and complete experiences Ive had, irrespective of cuisine. All sushi should be this. All truly fine dining establishments should operate from this level of personal pride and commitment to craft. The sides were also crafted with a level of skill and attenuation to detail and flavor that is world class. A must do, must eat, must experience.

2023-07-27 19:33:12Sushi Sho was always my favorite place for sushi when they were located on upper Solano Avenue. I have not visited their new location, which opened after a long pause in between., as I have moved away from the Bay Area. Aki-san is a master sushi chef, albeit a bit eccentric, and will not settle for anything less than the best quality and dining experience. As he is the only chef preparing food at the counter (with his wife helping out with other chores), Aki-san would rather turn away customers than have them waiting too long. This is why you may see empty spots and yet be turned away. But believe me, you will not find better, fresher fish more expertly prepared sushi and sashimi than with Aki-san. Two dishes that stand out, beside all the others, are the Usuzukuri sashimi and the Chawan mushi, a custard with bits of fish and a ginko nut, and probably the best one Ive ever had. Lastly, if you ask nicely, you can probably get tamaki (hand roll) sushi, even though it isnt on the menu. Sushi-sho is about enjoying the intimate experience (and the food, of course). You will not find another place like this anywhere.
