My new favorite sushi restaurant in the area. Definitely family owned but they have excellent customer service. Clean environment and very friendly. Sushi itself tasted delicious. Love their steak and would highly recommend. One thing was their salmon was kinda thin, I would rather get the steak more. Other than that, no complaints! Would definitely come back here again

Visited Star Sushi, and it was beyond amazing! The staffs friendliness and expertise made the experience even better. The place is impressively clean and tidy, creating a wonderful atmosphere. Omg !!! My husband and I found this hidden gem today on my lunch! Our waitress was so wonderful and sweet! The sushi chef came out to greet us! Everything was delicious! 10/10 ! Definitely recommend! Will always come here for sushi! I rarely ever leave reviews, but I just had to for this one !

One of the best sushi restaurants in the Sacramento/Roseville area! Family run and consistent quality of food every time. I order to-go at least 2 times a week.Some of the best customer service I ever experienced, with an extremely clean environment.Pictured is my favorite roll (walnut prawn roll) and snow crab roll….also the chicken hibachi plate, which is amazing every time.I don’t leave reviews often but when a place is this good I have to….Must try!

Affordable sushi that was actually good! We went here for lunch (around 11:45am) and the place was just open for the day so we were seated right away. The food came out pretty fast.- california roll: lots of filling and good. My kid loved it and finished it all- spider roll: soft shell crab was crispy and generous pieces of the crab. The sauce was goodThey made a cute orange character for my kid at the end of the meal. Well be back when were in the area

Love this place! Amazing customer service. Friendly and attentive. They made us feel so special. Food is exceptional. There are so many items to choose from. Price was fair. Everything look so good. We ordered alot for just two people. We had the pink lady, fire star rolls, sashimi platter, dragon rolls, OMG rolls, salmon avocado seaweed wraps, and mochi ice cream for desserts. As you can see, they were so pretty, very fresh, and delicious. Well definitely be returning. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience. We really enjoyed our meal. 💓 💗 💛

We ordered chicken noodle, crunch roll, and chicken hibachi. Their chicken noodle felt very saggy and watery. Chicken is very bland and rough. Their crunch roll was good but not like anything I have tasted before. I have asked no wasabi and ginger with my sushi, but I still received it. I also had to wait 35 min to get my food when it was said 20-25 min. I come from I Love Teriyaki for many years, and comparing their food with this is such a disappointment. I really wanted to believe their 4.9 hype train rating they have, but was really disappointed when I left.

We went to our normal spot but they closed dining service at 7pm so we decided to try Sushi Star and we are glad we did! Very inexpensive and delicious. Its a family owned business. The wife served us and the husband was the chef. Their young son was there and well behaved. My daughter is a picky eater. She gave them an A+ and said this is now her favorite sushi place.

Im so happy to find a wonderful Sushi place in Citrus Heights! The reviews I read were not exaggerated. The food is hot, fresh and delicious... :D The place is clean and casual.My tempura was crunchy, and lightly battered ...not greasy. The Avocado/ asparagus roll was delightful! My daughter got the Lion King and Dragon rolls, which were delicious the day we got them and on the following day. (Leftovers!😋)The chicken hibachi was fantastic, lots of fresh veggies, loads of tender chicken AND fried rice with miso soup. Great proportions.Already recommended to friends who went there today and loved it. This will be a regular treat for our family! 🎉🎉

My boyfriend and I LOVE this place! We’ve been coming for a while now and it’s been consistently good EVERY time! They’re under new management now and sometimes that can make or break a place and so far it’s still making it! I hope it doesn’t break it! The last time we went, we waited a really long time for service and food which was unusual BUT we then found out they were super short staffed and it was a busy weekend night, so we were patient and we were taken such good care of! The food and service were still top notch even being short staffed and really busy, it was as pleasant and delicious as always! Food is always fresh and filling and we always leave fully and happy! Highly recommend!

Awesome family ran sushi restaurant!We love ordering off their specials menu, the ankimo, lobster roll, and fresh oysters (pictured) are always great. Other specials currently include Santa Barbara uni, yakisoba, and steak, lobster, and scallop hibachi for around $22.I recommend the hamachi kama (pictured) appetizer, around $15 for 2 pieces which is a great deal. The skin is crispy, and the fish is meaty and moist. We always order it, sometimes Togo and it reheats great in an air fryer.Our favorite rolls are the Sushi Star, Fire Star, Salmon Blossom, and if you like crab, their Snow crab roll is SO GOOD. The snow crab roll (pictured, missing a piece because its just so good...) isnt too fancy but I think they use real crab, and the taste is just so so clean, I love the texture, and its 10x better than any Krab roll.Hamachi sashimi and otoro sashimi (pictured) are always on point. The sushi chef does a great job with presentation and cuts.You can call ahead to reserve omakase.The service is always great, but not the fastest depending on how busy it is. Everything has always been worth the wait and I recommend it regardless! Again, family ran and you can tell they put a lot of effort into the food and art of sushi! So glad to have a staple sushi restaurant in citrus heights!Edited to add review of omakase experience!!! October 2022Splurged on their omakase for our anniversary. $150/pp for about 12 courses, call a few days ahead to reserve. The chef did call after I made my reservation to confirm any allergies and preferences, of which we had none. Everything was AMAZING and really showcased the chefs skills and artistry. Highly recommended for something new and unique, and come hungry! Portions were very generous.Courses included miso soup, ankimo with scallops, oyster shooters with uni and ikura, chawanmushi with uni, amaebi, and ikura, assorted sashimi in a beautiful ice sculpture, more sashimi with the fish remains fried for display (this was so beautiful yall), geoduck sashimi, Kobe beef tataki (sooooo savory and delicious), broiled fish, assorted nigiri, deluxe hand rolls with toro, uni, crab, and ikura, and mochi served in an ice bowl topped with spun sugar threads.Im still drooling as I look over these photos. This was not a cheap meal, but Im so thrilled to have an authentic and delicious omakase option without having to trek downtown or to the city!

I was excited to see this new sushi spot because its pretty close to me. Walked in to order and it took about 15mins which isnt bad at all.. I ordered a Lion king as I do at every sushi spot to compare them and they are my favorite. The lion king roll was good! Also ordered the crunch California roll the jalapeño bombs and rice and teriyaki. The portions were good and I really enjoyed it all. Im full and satisfied and I will definitely be back to try a different roll. The dinning area seemed clean. Its a smaller restaurant. I just wish they had more sushi options. The menu is a bit limited and seems like a lot of the rolls are the same plus or minus an item. Average cost of rolls here are around 14$ Glad I gave this place a try.

I really wanted to like it here but unfortunately it was not a great experience. I ordered a roll and told it would be gluten free and it was not so unfortunately I dont think the waitress knew what was gluten free. It also had shells in the crab that I had received so I could not safely eat it. There was also Wasabi or some very strong/bad flavor in everything I ordered eventhough it was not listed as an ingredient and it was in simple rolls that should not have it. It was expensive for sushi that was not enjoyable and I did not eat most of it. My spouse did not like or eat his rolls either unfortunately.Hopefully my experience was rare and others enjoy this much more than I did.

Great food. The only thing that bothered me was that the owner (wife) did not wipe down the tables. You cant just do it with your hand. You need a wet rag and clean it. I will be back but with table wipes. I grew up in restaurants.The husband makes great sushi rolls. So worth it! Oshinko Maki is one of my favorites.

I love this place! I’m a big fan of the baked scallop, but my husband who doesn’t particularly enjoy enjoy sushi options really likes the hibachi selection. When we went our server was excellent at attending our needs, after a long day out on the lake I was drinking glass after glass of water and right when I hit the bottoms she was back with the pitcher which I was super grateful for.I definitely recommend this place!

Went here for my bday. Food was great and staff are all super nice. They also have a ton of food options! Many of us have that one family member that doesnt want sushi... Which is totally fine here. They have sushi, ramen, bento boxes, and more. They also have a two roll option for sushi if you want to save a little (I love sushi, my wallet doesnt). This was perfect for me. Im definitely trying some of their combination plate and ramen options later, they looked great on the menu. Definitely worth a try, and Im definitely coming back.

We LOVE this place! We have went there 4 times recently just to try all their rolls. Fresh fish, excellent service, unique, incentive, pure talent. We were there on Valentines day today and it was the busiest weve ever seen it, with small amount of staff. The hustle was real! The hostess/server/owner? Was doing everything with a smile on her face. They smartly had something coming out for each table at one time, alternating so we were all taken care of. Come try this amazing sushi!! Great little place that I will revisit again. Super friendly and quick staff. If I had to come up with a complaint it would probably be that my roll was sliced very thin and I prefer thicker pieces when my roll is cut. The muscles are absolutely delicious I think theyre a little pricey for only four small muscles but the flavor was so good I would probably pay for them again lol.

They recently updated their menu, and there are so many new delicious options. And beautiful photos so you can see what youre getting. Quite seriously the best rolls I have had from any establishment, as well as a fantastic assortment of other dishes, like the many hibachi and the newer soba yaki and udon noodles. I wanted to go out for sushi. Hubs wanted to eat in. I decided to try Sushi Star, order a little for me, and enjoy that while waiting on a take out order for (mostly) him. I had the sashimi salad and the fried oysters. Both were great. Good portions, fresh and delicious. The salad had a good amount of sashimi and was very good. The oysters....oh the oysters. Delicious. Took home some Cali Rolls and a spicy tuna and cucumber roll for my husband. Fresh and tasty....and the filling to rice ratio was very good. So many places put too much rice and skimp on the filling for the basic rolls. Also had the Blossom Roll, which the very nice server was quick to point had no sauces. While I like sauces...the reality is really good sushi doesnt need it. Very generous amount of good quality tuna and salmon. A little wasabi and a touch of soy....perfect! Everyone was so pleasant. Looking forward to trying the hibachi and some more of the rolls...with the fried oysters app every time. I should have taken pictures but didnt. This is just the kind of local, family-owned business to support folks!
