Nestled in a tiny strip mail along Newport Ave in Costa Mesa this little mom and pop sushi/Japanese restaurant has been around for over a decade. They must be doing something right because it was pretty buddy post lunch and pre-dinner. As the name implies they specialize in sushi but they also have other dishes like udon and yakisoba etc. so if youre not into the raw fish scene you have other choices.My son and i got the sushi combination plate while my two daughters got udon and wife got yakisoba. All of them looked and smelled amazing but my sushi was amazing. Fish that was raw was fresh and the cooked eel was so buttery good.Great place, if youre near the OC fair grounds theyre really close to that. Give it a try!

What and incredible display of amazing food! This was a spot that we could walk to from our hotel in the OC and was so good that we went twice! The portions are large and the rolls are very well made. Their house wines are also well selected and great to accompany - the staff was so kind and the happy welcoming energy was much appreciated. Thank you so much Sushi Town we will be back a third and fourth time!

I came here for my birthday, and was impressed by the good size cuts of fish (fresh). I was with my brother and the bill came out to about 60 per person.Their rolls are also good size.Their sushi orders are pretty big (i.e. big cuts of fish, little rice)I used to be a fan of AYCE sushi, but not anymore.I like to be able to relax and not worry about whether I left too much rice on my plate etc.This place is my new go to, for serious sushi.

Ordered sushi from here for delivery and it did not disappoint! Rolls were so good. I especially love a no rice roll and they had a couple different options (white cucumber, pink Cadillac, YUUUUMMM!!). I would love to stop in for sushi some time in the future, because even delivered it was great.

The fish was fresh and delicious (Chirashi Bowl pictured). The rolls are bigger than the norm and sre very filling.There was a bit of a wait time for service and for the food to come out but we did go on New Year. Overall enjoyable time!

My fiancé and I went there on 2nd January because we had a craving for sushi. Then we thought of this restaurant. This is a place that always gets packed because sushi is of good quality at very reasonable prices. So we went there at 5pm to avoid the crowds. It’s a small Japanese restaurant but clean enough and the sushi bar is big. The size of the nigari was quite big compared to other sushi places. Agi and Salmon Nigari are very tasty. I particularly liked the shrimp tempura roll. It’s huge, super fresh and yummy! We paid less than USD70 for two for many orders of Nigari! If you want to go for Sushi with reasonable prices, this is the place to go.

After reading the reviews, we decided to dine in here for early dinner. unfortunately, this was one of the worst sushi experiences I have ever had. Not because of the high reviews, but it lacks the simple element of ratio. Moreover, the quality of fish is low and does not worth the money. on the other hand, the service was good and the waiters were pretty kind and efficient.

We hear great things about this sushi restaurant and have noticed it for the last 5 years living in the area. Tonight we tried it out, noticing poor, slow, service was a common issue.Well that was the case for us. We ended up sitting at the sushi bar in front of the head chef and it took 15 minutes to place our order. From there it took another 20 minutes for him to tell us he was now making our order... the folks who sat right after us at a table had already finished their order!!! Everyone else seemed to be enjoying their food and getting served. We ended up leaving politely and attempting to pay for our edamame. the servers were very polite and said not to worry and to please give them another chance or to wait for our food. We politely declined but did appreciate their concern, which seemed well practiced due to this being common.In the end, there are better service options in the area. The sushi cannot be that good to wait 40 minutes for one order.Also note, we went to H20 down the street and had our sushi brought to us in 5 minutes and its happy hour now due to waiting so long at sushi town!!!

This had been my favorite spot for years! It is simple and wonderful. Top quality fish and other ingredients, but that is only the beginning. The chefs are talented. Their creativity shines through every plate served. They have a tasty selection of beers and sake.This is also the only place I have ever been served the chopped wasabe relish they have at sushi town.

We decided to try somewhere new since our regular place closed down. We were not disappointed! The prices are amazing for what you get. They are vegan friendly. The service wasnt spectacular, but it was a very busy time when we went so Im not going to judge that just yet. We have definitely found our new go to sushi place. My only regret is that we didnt try them sooner.

I hate how restaurants put a predetermined tip on groups, because it literally gives them a excuse to give lousy service. We had a party of 15, at night, and apparently their lights outside didn’t work. Apparently refills aren’t considered important either. The rolls were ok, nothing too flattering. I do put a lot of emphasis on the service at a restaurant, though, more than anything.

Some of the worst sushi we’ve had in a long time. I think we’ve had supermarket sushi that was better than this.The blue crab roll was canned crab with a HEAVY amount of mayo wrapped in soy paper. My 11 year old even commented that the sushi wasn’t good. The only thing I like here is the salmon collar.

Ive been eating here for over 10 years and what makes this place great is not only the extremely fresh sushi and generous portions, but the Chefs are my favorite of any place Ive ever been. Jin, Paul and crew are great! they have all been there for a very long time and you are always greeted with smiles. Eating there is like eating with family as most people who dine there are friendly loyal regulars. They are great at making up new things for you to try and I have yet to find better sushi anywhere.

Been to a lot of Sushi places around me here in South OC and this is one that I keep coming back to. Prices are great, sushi is fresh, and the portion size is large. Great combination for a smaller spot. Not much room inside so there might be a wait at busier times.

The food gets 4.5 Stars, the 2 waitresses get 0 Stars. Seriously, the attitude on the 2 waitresses there is unreal. We actually stopped going there because they are just such unhappy and rude girls. Funny that two of our neighbors told us the same thing last week. Their exact quote was We love the food, but the waitresses there and just horrible people. Such a shame because the chefs are true pros and among the best... need to do something about that wait staff.

First time today, and I am quite impressed by the quality of their fish, I ordered mainly nigiri, and was extremely happy with what I got. The service was nothing notable considered they had a packed house and did not have time to be extra polite, and I came especially for the food so it doesnt bother me at all. The one roll I got was okay, not bad, but not exceptional. They sushi bar was packed so I opted for the table and the sushi cake at a steady stream. I would definitely come back to this place because the nigiri was fresh and the cut was quite thick .

The sushi is very average. Its ayce sushi quality if you know what I mean. The shrimp tempura udon has a single, previously frozen piece of shrimp in it. Very disappointing. It is edible, but thats the only positive I can give them.

This place has the BEST sushi & sushi rolls in orange county. Not the cheapest prices but certainly not the most expensive either. Try their lobster specialty roll, it is so good. Also the spicy tuna w/ shrimp tempura is good. Jin is the owner/head chef and a real nice guy and fun to be around at the sushi bar!

I always loved that cool place to go, good food, casual environment and new people to chat with. The only thing is the new owner changed and upgraded the restaurant...which is nice. I would have given 5 star. Its not the same because of the people that used to work there. They dont give you that special treatment as a regular....your just another customer. Love the food here and the selection of rolls and the pricing of the dinner boxes. Came here with the family and had a little bit of everything, some rolls, a couple dinner entrees, appetizers, tempura, and their udon. I have to say that their tempura was made particularly well and that their rolls were also very impressive. Enjoyed the generous portion of the udon and also enjoyed their beef teriyaki and tonkatsu dinner entrees.

We actually started the timer app on the phone because each sushi order was taking so long. Our chef was hung over and sweating like a pig. The rolls were made in the back. All he did was the dressing. We averaged an hour per roll to place and receive. Food is great, dont expect great service though, even if youre ordering takeout. I keep ordering because the food is great despite the awful service and attitude from the wait staff. Multiple times Ive ordered from this place and shown up at the time they ask me to, only for the food to be either late, missing items or both. Theyve never called me back to let me know theyre out of something. They have, on occasion offered me a free appetizer to cover the mistake, but this is after an order that was 40 minutes late.Great food, its the reason to show up, but expect less than sub par on the service side. Sit at the bar, youll be fine.

Went in to check on our order only to hear them say in korean that they HADNT EVEN STARTED THE ORDER! Another Americanized Sushi place? Nope! I was pleasantly surprised that Costa Mesa has to offer such a detailed and tasty restaurant. Sitting by the Sushi bar is the best because you can always interact with the Chefs with your orders and just talk about nonsense!Tonight, I had Chef Jin. As I closely watched him worked his magic, I can see him making our orders as Art taking his time with every slice and detail. Chef Jin really took his time to cut every single slice of avocado covering my little caterpillar, luv! The blend of all the flavors were perfectly balanced because none of it overwhelmed each other.
