Im surprised about the serving size, I didnt expect they will serve this much. All these we paid around $50 and these is good for 3 people (Ordered number 2, 8, and 24) The food is incredibly good and satisfying. We might go eat here again whenever we visit Longbeach. 😊

Been coming here for maybe 15 years now, since i was a kid. Never been disappointed with the combos, and the dragon roll is fairly impressive, though otherwise generally just decent semi fast food. Plates are usually well portioned and the prices are generally fair. I typically go for the various bento boxes when Im looking for a quick and calorie dense meal to get me through work, and it seems the local PD has the same idea as they often show up for a meal when off duty.

Great food, informal ambiance and fast customer service. This restaurant has been in business for what it seems like an eternity but the quality hasnt changed. The servings have gotten a bit smaller though, but thats everywhere now with the inflation.Definitely one of my favorite spots when craving comfort food.

If your in the area and wanting some sushi (nothing fancy, inexpensive, some what quick and good) Sushi West is good.It’s a small restaurant (Casual comfy), totally clean (sanitized pens, individually wrapped utensils/chopsticks and cute little disposable soy sauce cups)We had :3 rolls: The California roll, spicy scallop and a Spider Roll.I wasn’t impressed nor was disappointed.

14 dollars for a few pieces of fish that are room temperature?? And the most disgusting egg rolls i have ever seen! Falling apart because they are so wet and mushy. I will NEVER go back there again. What a disappointment. I feel like i just got robbed. Thank goodness for the pile of lettuce they gave me or i wouldnt have any thing to eat. I just paid 25 bucks for lettuce.

Are you looking for a quick lunch spot in the Bixby Knolls Neighborhood? Check out the Sushi West Restaurant in the City of Long Beach, California. Sushi West is located on Atlantic Avenue near Carson Street in the same shopping center as Edgar & James Goodwill Specialty Store & Donation Center. Sushi West is open 7 days a week, Monday- Friday from 11 am-9 pm with Saturday and Sunday from 11:30-9:00 pm. No indoor or outdoor dining so its just take-out or on-line orders. Also, theyre only allowing one customer per party in the store at this time.I dropped by for lunch and ordered a two item combination plate that included Sesame Chicken, two Shrimp Tempura and two Vegetable Tempura served with fresh Green Salad w/ House Special Miso Dressing, Steamed Rice & Miso Soup. Its a nice quick and delicious meal to get me through the day. The menu here is expansive and includes traditional Japanese food along with other dishes for beginner sushi lover. Youre surely to find something to satisfy your appetite.

I love this place! First time here and I got the #6. Salmon teriyaki, mixed tempura, salad, and substitute the tuna for California rolls. I have to say I dont usually like the salad dressing at most places but Sushi West salad dressing is delicious. I would go just for that, but the tempura was perfect and Salmon was cooked perfectly. The guy at the counter was very nice and helpful. Small restaurant, excellent service, and delicious food! Whats not to love?

Deliciously good. Whenever Im in the mood for fresh made spicy salmon roll I always come here. Today was my first time trying the sesame chicken, so good! But I only had 3 pieces left before I remembered to take a picture.1/14/20 update. I went back recently and was able to take another pick of the full meal I ordered this time.

I always come here because the food is very delicious but there’s been times when the teriyaki chicken has been burned. And it’s happen several times. It’s really annoying because I usually get it to go and can’t complain to them and it’s a hassle having to drive back to the restaurant, which, I don’t have time to. Next time I will have to check the food myself but that’s why I’m giving them 2 stars and it’s sad because their food is very good.

So good! The presentation is as pretty as the pictures. Very friendly and fast too. I was shocked Google maps recommended I drive so far, from home, for sushi. I decided to try it because I had seen it many times while in bixby knolls. I suggest going a bit before or after, the lunch hour, on weekdays. I arrived at 11:50am with no line. By 12:00pm the line was getting fairly long.

Amazing value and delicious food. We came here after a hospital visit nearby because of its high rating. We were surprised by the price at first. Then we were impressed by the quality of food. The best affordable sushi place we have found, but we go there a lot less than we used to. There are some things I love about this place and a few things I dont like that much.In general, this was one of our favorite restaurants. The only place where we could be good sushi/sashimi at affordable prices. Theres tempura is excellent. I have several other dishes that we eat and are quite good.Even at the beginning there were times that I felt their sashimi was not the freshest (this tended to vary by weekday and by season). At some point I stopped ordering their tuna as I have suspicions about its provenance. Their tempura is excellent but you might not always get version you thought you ordered (we have seen at least three different sauces, and they have a few different options on the contents - after many tries, we still have not figured out a way to communicate exactly what we want, so unless you eat at their establishment, waiting to get home is an exercise in Surprise).

This place use to be really good and the service was amazing. Every since the world pandemic hit the service and quality of food started going down hill. The portions are still really big like one plate can feed two. Me and my wife we share the number 13 combo. Thats how big the portions are. However I noticed a difference in the taste and the freshness of the chicken. Im still rating this place a 4 star because Im very optimistic they will turn it around.

Teriyaki chicken burned to a blackened crisp on the outside, slimy on the inside. Teriyaki sauce is brown sugar water. Sushi rolls poorly made, falling apart. Miso soup is lukewarm water with a few chunks of tofu. Lettuce is old, yellow, wilting. Salad dressing is sugary goop. Gave this place a handful of chances since it is close by, but has been consistently low quality. Not going back. One star for the nice girl behind the counter.

This is the third time I have had a cashier quintuple check my money to see if it was fake. This person double, triple, quadruple checked my bill before giving it to the manager who took it to the back to check it again, having me wait nearly 5 minutes as my take out order got cold. He talked to another employee right in front of me about how the bill was probably fake. This same person, on another occasion, had me wait as he checked my $10 bill over and over to see if it was fake. I am a POC by the way. Three times a charm, wont be back here again.

Combos come with a little bit of rice, salad & miss soup so I recommend them. In addition to nigiri sushi & sashimi they have a selection of sushi rolls which are good & arent too expensive. This place is a favorite of mine. Great tasting Sushi and the combo meals are amazing. Medium sized eating area with tables for 2 to 4 people. Plenty of televisions to watch different sports or different events. The parking lot is shared with a few other businesses but is big enough to accommodate all. Highly recommend.

Online postmate order was not in their system and waiting time for one roll was 20 minutes-- tip your deliverer well if they can get your order! Going downhill after COVID. Been coming here since it opened. Just started charging for all extras now.. No more dipping trays and only one soy sauce pack per multiple sushi items. Containers for take out are like wrapping it in newspaper. Moved away a while back so I guess their current customer base must suck and are driving them to do this which is a shame. I went to Haikaido buffet on cherry and spring but when the hostess said the price was $27 for mid- grade sushi and 99 cent - quality chinese food, I walked out and headed to SUSHI WEST for 3- item combo ( teriyaki salmon, sesame chicken and spicy scallops sushi roll) for $15 and the quality of the food & the large portion sizes were far better and much more satisfying than mediocre food at the Asian buffet .I felt the Japanese love in this food, it was delicious. The teriyaki salmon was twice the size of the fish served in most overpriced restaurants . Even the rice made me moan in delight. The scallop roll melted in my mouth, the scallops were so fresh and the rice was moist, the sushi is REAL star here . Sesame chicken, #1 seller, was flavorful and plentiful . The salad was just lettuce & tomatoes but the dressing was exceptional. Im a bodybuilder and the food was enough for 2 meals . I could eat here a few times a week, its that good .

Usually I have pretty good service and they never have messed up on my orders . Today went to get take out for coworkers and spent about $50. They called my number and said my order is ready. Thank God I was not in a hurry today. I checked my order before leaving and found out they only gave me half my order. I told them that they are missing part of my order. The three girls working at the counter looked dumb founded that they have messed up my order. I didnt even a sorry about the mistake and will correct the mistake. They just turned and walked away and called me when they had my correct order. If they concentrated more on their job and not talked sooo much they would have noticed. I can see why they dont wear name plates on their shirts. It is hard to do a complaint about someone if you dont know their name. My advice to everyone always double check your orders before leaving.

Food was bland, teriyaki beef had little to no teriyaki sauce and was extremely tough to chew. You get like 70% salad and 30% food. The most flavorful thing was the eggrolls. As far as I know this is one of the few sushi restaurants in Long Beach actually operated by Japanese people. So there is some trust as far as quality of food and reasonable pricing.Ive been coming here for years and Ive only been disappointed one time - and that was bc there was a new guy who made my order and he gave me the wrong fish. I like coming here so often that I didnt even complain and it hasnt happened any other time.I would say if you come here for sushi (NOT rolls) make sure to come early in the day, before 2pm, bc theres only one chef who cuts the fish well and gives you good parts and not ugly ones. Their delivery usually comes earlier in the day so the sooner you come the more fresh it will be.Ive brought many friends and family here who ordered more Americanized food and everyone is always happy with their meal. But this is definitely a trustworthy place if you want to find some decent sushi for lunch in long beach.But be warned - this place does get very crowded on a regular basis so I dont rly recommend coming with a party larger than 3 or 4 at the most. There are a lot of locals that like to come in big parties and the place isnt that big.

The salmon was fresh and tasty. No fishiness at all. A great dish.The Beef Sukiyaki Udon was okay. The beef portion was quite small. Its a very forgetful dish; I would not order it again.Overall a nice place to grab a casual bite.

Im happy to say that I once again enjoy Sushi West. Several years ago their lead Sushi Chef would take a cigarette break and NOT wash his hands before resuming food preparation. I watched the staff from my table and was glad to see that the aforementioned Sushi Chef no longer worked there and all of the staff washed their hand at appropriate times. The sushi here is quite good and not as expensive as higher end establishments. Their Uni (Sea Urchin) was wonderful tasting without any taint of sourness, meaning it was very fresh. Many of you have heard it before but Sushi should NEVER smell like fish. If youre eating Sushi that smells fishy then youve gone to a poor restaurant. Im glad to inform you that Sushi West is back on my list of good priced, good sushi.

Its done counter pickup style, so no extra costs.For example, we just got the wave combo, with 6 pieces of nigiri (2 tuna, 2 salmon, 2 yellowtail) and choice of roll for 10.95! About as expected - food was cheap, fairly substantial, fairly quick, and entirely edible, but nothing that impressive. I had to try their unagi, just to see how it was. Ill put it this way: even if 3 dollars for 2 pieces -is- pretty cheap in the abstract for unagi, I wouldnt pay that much for their unagi specifically. However, if given it for free, I would happily eat it. Its not bad, it just wasnt that good, either. On the other hand, the 12 pieces of vegetable tempura over rice plus a salad and a small soup combo, I would totally be willing to pay 8 bucks for in the future if I happened to be in the area again. Their ice tea was pretty good, too, especially given unlimited refills (!)

Decent Japanese food. I ordered the makunouchi bento box because i wanted to taste a variety of the food there. It included the teriyaki versions of the salmon and chicken, some vegetable and ship tempura, california roll pieces, and some other smaller items. To be honest, none of them really stood out at all. They were edible but alot of the included items were either still too cold and hard or a bit bland.

I got number 11 its mixed sashimi. Let me start by saying whats up with the sashimi cuts? Get a real sushi expert, all the cuts look like they were cut by a five year old & the fish tasted bland. Also why previously frozen tuna? I thought it was fresh from market. No miso soup as compliment or salad. I went based maybe its the place for cooked food but in my personal opinion not for sashimi.
