Very nice owner. Blackened salmon was good. Grilled pita bread was ordinary. Desert of bread pudding OK. salad was excellent. Overall pretty good but not quite a 5.

My wife and I came to Palm Desert for our 15th anniversary and randomly walked into Sally’s restaurant on a Saturday night. This small gem of a restaurant did not disappoint. My wife had the Sally’s pasta and I had the stuffed filet. Both were on point. Sally and her husband were running the front of the house super well. Definitely recommend this hidden gem.

This is a total experience, ambiance, great staff and above all one of the best steaks Ive had in years, I could have cut it with a fork, cooked to perfection. The owner is also the chef, all the food is perfection and very personable and accommodating. Great dining experience! Lunch and Sallys pasta is beyond! We did have surf & turf, soup, appetizer and dessert, so it was expensive but then, hey we ordered expensive! There are all prices.

I was actually thinking about eating here because it looks pretty great, but during annual Palm Desert, golf cart parade, my four-year-old niece needed to use the restroom and we were standing right in front and they straight up said no which they’re in their total right to say no but it’s a four-year-old little kid they have no heart 💔

The place was a little small and the seating limited, but the food was delicious and the service was amazing!! It is a little pricey for the portions offered, but the food is fresh and the experience is worth it.

Extremely friendly and efficient service. Some of the best food I have had from a restaurant. The lobster ravioli is not to be missed. The maple glazed and chipotle rubbed pork chop was phenomenal. Even the kids Mac and cheese was extraordinary.

Loved every bite. Started with Lobster cakes. Then mushroom soup with spinach. Had chocolate lasagna last and sizzling shrimp. Vowed to return for lobster lasagna. Cant wait. Sally and staff very sweet.

What a cool place. Great ambiance and really good food and prices. The hostess is awesome and very accommodating and super friendly. The wait staff is all about excellent customer service.They always watch your table, even thou they are super busy. We never had to flag them down for anything. They work as a team helping each other. I highly recommend Sweet Basil California Eatery.

Tables on the sidewalk are nice. Tuna sandwich on Naan pretty tasteless, and the naan appetizer was small with you little garlic butter... Not to mention expensive at $8. Overall bill of $168 for 4 people seemed way too high. I wouldnt go back.

Overall the restaurant was very nice. The menu was really great! The lobster cakes were a little lacking in seasoning and fresh lobster chunks, the apple fennel salad was delicious! the Caesar salad was extremely mild even though I ordered extra anchovies on my salad. The desserts were great! I definitely will return and try something else although they need to heighten their seasoning .

Rex and I were trying to find a good place for dinner tonight and ended up in El Paseo and literally stumbled upon Sweet Basil. The staff is really great, the owner (Sally) was extremely nice and so very helpful and the food was over the top great.We want to do more stumbling like this! Thank you Sally and your great staff. This place......how can I portray the experience and do it justice. I cannot. A simple, small menu. It doesnt need more. Every flavor was infused with careful consideration and love. Extremely personable staff and owner. The owner in fact is the chef in charge of developing these unique dishes. We were so taken aback on our vacation, that we came back the next day on our way out of town. We sampled a plethora of items between our 2 visits. Anything and everything you could choose from, is the right choice. If I am anywhere even 10 miles from here, and wish to dine, I will only choose Sweet Basil. You have my heart. Thank you.....

One of the new gems to Palm Desert Sweet Basil was such a delite for the palate as well as the soul! The hospitality was superb..very kind and friendly staff that made you feel like you had been coming there for years and the food was amazing. My boyfriend ordered 2 orders of Lobster cakes because they are THAT good, and everything else we ordered that day for lunch exceeded our expectations. Please visit Sweet Basil and keep this little gem in the heart of El Paseo.

Friendly staff, excellent food. We were the last customers before closing and never felt rushed or less than welcome, the evening before a major holiday for which they would be closed. We plan to bring local friends here the next time we visit Palm Springs.

The food was just ok. I expected it to be better. They put cabernet sauce on my flank steak and it just tasted like plain, cheap beef gravy. Overpriced... I didnt find the food to be high quality at all. Wont visit again. And yes, I can say one nice thing, they have outdoor seating and the atmosphere was nice inside and out.

This little gem is clean and friendly. The food is fresh, tasty, and uncomplicated. The miso side salad has a very light dressing and is perfect. I enjoyed my curried chicken salad Naanwich . I left an empty plate! Nice wine list but mixed drinks unavailable.

Ordered takeout from this restaurant for lunch today! Their website was extremely easy to order from, and I loved that they included photos of most of the food. I ordered the Tuscan Tuna Naanwich with the salad for the side. It was excellent!! Wonderful Value for lunch! I WILL be back for sure!

Main points: good food, good portion sizes, and great customer service -- great staff, great management -- just a great team in whole.After our previous dinner plans exploded (its an another story -- summary: previous place passively-aggressively didnt want our business), we found Sweet Basil California Eatery and WE ARE SO GLAD WE DID!Based on what I saw around the table, we had tried the:~ Sauteed Sand Dabs (rice pilaf, lemon caper sauce) -- excellent~ Gorgonzola Stuffed Filet Mignon (garlic mashed potatoes, cabernet sauce) - excellent~ California Shrimp and Grits (sizzling garlic shrimp, polenta, sauteed arugula, tomato basil relish) - excellent~ Lobster Lasagna (creamy parmesan sauce, vanilla buerre blanc) - so excellent that when we ordered it, the waiter said Fire-level goodAnd we wrapped up the night with house made mini donuts with caramel, raspberry, and chocolate dipping sauces!Oh, and since it was a birthday celebration, there may have been a slice of the chocolate lasagna (marscapone, cocoa, crepes, oreo) for the birthday boy.Thanks to Sweet Basil for accommodating us and treating us so well. It really turned our night around!

We are glad we happened across this place when we were Googling restaurants at El Paseo. Just had a delicious and light dinner -perfect for these hot summer evenings. I had the Sally pasta with a small Mista salad, Husband had the Naan French Dip. It was all really delicious! The portions are not the usual unbearably huge portions you get in some restaurants, but plenty of food to fill you up. The mini donuts (ok, maybe not such a light dinner) and dipping sauces were outstanding. We enjoyed our server (or should I say servers, because everyone working was attentive and friendly in a real people sort of way). We will be back for sure!

We just moved to Palm Desert and took a break from unpacking for lunch. Everything seemed fine until my salad Caprese arrived. I’m a well travelled foodie and Salad Caprese means sliced tomatoes snd fresh mozzarella. My lunch was a pile of arugula with a few cherry tomatoes and a small piece of burrata cheese. That is not a Caprese but okay, I didn’t ask since a Caprese should be pretty standard. When I asked if I might have a piece of bread with my salad, I was told for $6 I could get a basket of bread. It was that or nothing. I would have happily paid $1 for a piece of bread. I find the lack of interest in satisfying a customer very odd and rigid. I’ve owned a restaurant and think it is necessary to find ways to make s customer happy. I can say this hard line approach feels punitive and unfriendly. I won’t be going back. I told our server we were new to the area but I guess the place is so popular there is no need to accommodate customers’ needs.
