I had given this place 5 stars before. But now im disappointed. Drove almost 2 hours to find out this place no longer serves food, they dont serve coffee and you cant sit down to enjoy the pastries. What a bummer! But they still have coffee menu on the wall, the sign outside still says bakery italian food pastry coffee shop. Spent $25 on 4 pastries to go! Then place smells like cigar, horrible smell. Then the guy at the counter had no hospitality! Im soo upset and sad, i really liked this place, guess i wont be returning anymore. Anyone have a suggestion for a local cafe?

Discovered this little gem of a bakery this morning. There are a lot of choices to choose from. If you have a sweet tooth, visit them. Check out the photos already posted online. I was not disappointed. There is a varied menu and you can eat in to. The lovely, young girl at the counter was so nice and helpful. They encourage you to bring in your own bottle of wine to dine in because they dont have a liquor license yet. I love that!!! It reminded me of the local bakeries that I had in England before moving here. A step back down memory lane...I have to change my 5 star to 2 stars. This used to be a great bakery. Lately, the food doesnt taste the same anymore. The quality is gone. The place is unclean and not of the standard it used to be before. Customer service has gone downhill. The person behind the counter gives the attitude that he doesnt want to be there. The friendly service is gone. Im not going back anymore. Disappointing.
If you love good pastries or have experience baking, this place is not for you. We ordered their raspberry eclair which consisted of a bland choux pastry and pink tinged sugarless whipped cream. The only thing that made this raspberry flavored were the fresh berries on top. We also ordered their “Italian Ho Ho,” which again, tasted like nothing. The exterior appeared to be dark chocolate, but had zero flavor. No sweetness, no bitterness, nothing. I’m convinced they used dark brown candy melts instead of actual chocolate. The coating was also about a 1/4” thick and could seriously break a tooth. The inside wasn’t any better with a light brown sugarless whipped cream and mystery brown sponge that again, tasted like nothing. Just skip this place and go to Safeway.UPDATE:Please see the owners response and decide for yourself whether this restaurant is someplace you want to support. Theres a right and wrong way to respond to negative comments and clearly he doesnt know how to do this. Not even an apology and instead he chooses to bash my taste.Try learning some manners. And if your chocolate is such high quality, then perhaps it tastes like nothing because its something youre doing wrong. Maybe too much cream since this seems to be the only ingredient you like to use in your Italian desserts.
Delicious!!!! Got lasagna, Caesar salad, and strawberry Binet. All perfection. Cant wait to go again. Their desserts are beautiful!
Pretty decent Italian style place! 3 stars is not at all bad, just average. The desserts were pretty yummy but I ordered a pizza and it was quite the challenge to eat! Fell apart way to easily, probably could have used less cheese.Overall I would still give it a try! Maybe you like it maybe you dont, but thats up to you! 🍕
What a pleasant surprise to find this wonderful a walking distance from my house. Been there numerous times within a month for various reason.Got to enjoy their pastries, breakfast, and a nice sloppy burger for lunch. Wonderful experience each and every time for different reasons. My perfect evening would end with a trip to Sweet Sicily for a pastry and coffee to cap off the night.
The bakery goods looked fine but the entrees were not great. Wouldnt recommend the spaghetti, lasagna, or chicken Parm (which was not even breaded). The fettuccini was fine. They could not do plain noodles for a picky eater. I got the sense the food was already cooked and reheated - why else would you not let me pay you $15 for plain noodles?
Best italian food... had try different one but definitely sweet Sicily is one of my favorite restaurants in Gilroy must try....
So glad I accidentally found this place! We went to check it out and its very nice inside. They have quite a large selection of Italian pastries. We got 2 berry eclairs and a cookie and it came out to less than $10. Good prices for the pastries and everything tasted great. The guy was nice and informed me that the cannolis are made fresh to order (awesome) when I asked. Looking forward to trying the hot food soon!
BE WARE!!!! Just bought 3 pieces of cake for dessert tonight. They taste old but the worst of them all is when I opened the tronchetto (strawberry filled cream roll)😲 😱 what a horror !! it was filled with hairy molds inside. By the way.. We bought pasta carbonara last month and it was horrible, super salty totally cant be eaten. This place is totally not recommended and should not be in business at all. Will never ever be back. SEE my attached photo. Be the judge.Update: The owner apologized right away and we got our money back. As a Healthcare worker, my priority is safety and health of not just my patients but for my family as well. If there was a problem with the refrigeration on that weekend...they have to make sure the quality and freshness of their products because they are selling food...I dont want anyone get sick especially my family in this time of pandemic. Check first before you sell it!

The fellow at the counter was very friendly and the owner seemed super nice too.Cappuccino: 4 starsFruit pastry: 4 starsAlmond meringue: 5 stars (favorite thing ordered)Almond paste with pistachio cookie: 3 starsBreakfast omelet: 0 starsI would go back for coffee and sweets. However…the omelet was the worst thing I have ever been served in a restaurant. The entire outside was brown and crunchy and overall it was just too salty to eat (and I like salt). There were a few shreds of cold cheese on top which merely added insult to injury.As stated above…will be back for coffee and sweets.
Great little place that delivers much more than youd expect. Amazing authentic Italian food and pastries. Have never had a bad meal here, and the owners are very accommodating for special orders. Large portions of really fresh and clean food. Will be back many times.
Quaint, with good customer service, flavorful Sicilian dishes, along with delectable desserts. Great Caesars dressing homemade. Customers are welcome to bring their own wine of choice with no corkage fee.

I love this place. Its got the BEST canolo anywhere in the bay area. I dont visit often because its bad for my diet to get so many of their delicious sweets and pastries. The food is very good and tastes very homemade. I like their tiramisu and eclaire.
This is without a doubt my favorite restaurant in Gilroy. All of the pastries are heavenly and are easily the best Ive ever had, unfortunately I havent had the pleasure of trying any of their pasta although I hope to remedy that soon.Gilroy has some great restaurants but Sweet Sicily reigns supreme.
Low key place, but they have lots of choice for desserts, you can also have full meal, its a Italian menu for the meals, the selection for pastries and deserts is a mix of Italian and french pastries. I loved the place will definitely come back.

I ordered the Eggplant Parmesan ($10) and it was terrible. It was soggy, not breaded and didnt come with pasta. Just slimy strips of Eggplant. The deserts are good!

2022-11-09 06:41:46After reading all these great reviews I really wanted to to check this place out. Unfortunately my experience was way less the stellar. I walked in to the permeating smell of cigarettes but I figured why not, I’m here right? So I looked at what they had to offer. The second thing I noticed was how dirty the glass on there are displaced cases were, the coffee station also looked dirty and in disarray. Still I pressed on, I ordered a coffee dessert slice “see picture” and took it to go. How was the slice? Ummm well…. Have you ever had something from the freezer that was in there to long and it has that old freezer taste? Well it tasted just like that, I have no idea how long it was sitting in the Display case but trust me it was no Bueno.I honestly don’t know what to say, I was so looking forward to trying this place. There is no way I can recommend them.

2023-06-15 23:22:51My local go to for some of the best pastries and cakes. I love the lemoncello cake, pistachio cake, and any of the chocolate cakes. I am not able to have dinner there due to dietary restrictions but it always smells amazing and looks so good! The place is always spotless. The service is always friendly. It is a hidden gem for sure. Check them out!

2023-08-21 02:43:26They do NOT make pizza. Edit: Google says this location makes pizza, and the pizza is good. We went there for the pizza but found out they make pastries, not pizza. Very confusing. Changing my review to 5 stars because maybe the pastries are good, I wouldnt know because we went somewhere else to get pizza.

2023-05-19 15:26:39We walked by this cute little coffee shop/bakery on our way to dinner last night and could see the full racks of pastries that looked yummy. We decided to try it out for dessert after dinner. Since we didnt recognize some of the pastries and nothing was labeled, we asked the person behind the counter what a couple were. The person was rather grouchy and unhelpful; mumbling and not answering the question. He didnt seem to be enjoying his job at all. The pastries looked good so we decided to get a couple to try. Again the person behind the counter was rather rude when we only chose two pastries, asking in an exasperated voice, Is that ALL? I was tempted to just leave but we went ahead and purchased our two pastries. We got an eclair and a slice of lemon cake and took them home to enjoy for dessert since it was much too warm in the cafe. The pastries were okay. Id say 3.5 stars. A bit over what youd get in a grocery store bakery perhaps. I realize people have bad days but there should be some professionalism. Plus the quality of the pastries wasnt great. I doubt well come again.

2019-03-03 05:31:57How did it take so long for me to find this amazing restaurant?! So delicious!! The deserts are so beautiful and plentiful it is distracting! But we came for dinner and were not disappointed. I started with the bruchetta which was so incredible! Fresh and flavorful and large enough to be a meal! For a main course I had the chicken rolls which was chicken wrapped in bacon, smothered in mushrooms and a delicious sauce. Yum!! My husband had a lasagna that was outstanding also. The portions are large so we had to take some to go in order to enjoy a cafe latte and the most delicious pastry with whip cream and raspberries. Im so happy we found this gem. We will be regulars for sure!

We will gladly return to sit down for a meal in the future.We stopped in here to pick up dessert for a dinner recently and Sweet Sicily was not short of choice, good cheer and happy, interactive service.We ended up taking much more than we needed (it just all looked so delicious) and some calzones for breakfast the next day. Some of the desserts arent exactly Italian/Sicilian, but perhaps a delicious modern fusion more attuned to an American taste, but there is still traditional sweets on display!Although I didnt get to order any, they also had a beautiful range of macaroons (which were kind of hiding, and I felt should have been closer to the front, they are so pretty). I will be going back for those too!The service was friendly, informative and so welcoming in that European way. We were told there is live Italian music on Tuesday nights, and also a special pasta dish prepared on those nights. We will be back for dinner!
