We decided to try a new spot and found this one on yelp. They dont have a current website up but they are open- I ordered while there for take out and the staff was very friendly. There were many people eating in which I took as a good sign... and it was. Everything we ordered on this Saturday tasted super fresh and high quality. I love when the niguri cuts actually do melt in your mouth! The special rolls were smaller than I was expecting (comparing to other sushi bars) yet were very flavorful and just as fresh as the nigiri. The restaurant looked very clean and was easy to find, lots of parking. I plan on ordering from them again.

Tachikawa is also very tasty. My wife and I early for happy hour when select rolls are a bit cheaper. We love the Tiffany roll. Teriyaki dishes are also excellent as well. Weve gone her for 18 years or so.

We arrived for sushi tonight around 7:30. Our first order arrived promptly. About 7:50 we asked to order a couple more rolls and were told it was last call so we ordered everything. At 8:10 we were asked if we wanted it to go and we said no. Then I table near us was told they were canceled by the waitress, as she said “but your my friends”. At 8:50 we still did not have our food. We left. That is just horrible service. The excuse was we are busy...the place was 1/2 full. No apologies. We wont be back as there are great places with far better service.

Two stars is gracious. I’ve lived in Japan for years and my wife is Japanese. One of the worst take outs we’ve had all year. Ordered classics and thoroughly disappointing. Chirashi should be a fresh assortment of fish with accompanying pickles, vegetables and seasonal items. I have 10 pieces of warm sashimi over rice. That’s it. Our beef bento more resembled a bad day at a high school cafeteria than a thoughtful meal. It was our first and last time here. Not even going to mention what they charged. Tried to talk to the management but they “refused our comments”. Whatever that means.

Delicious food, friendly staff and great environment. Lots of regulars, which is always a sign that there is consistent quality in both food and customer care. I come here on a fairly regular basis with my work crew. A huge plus for us is they allow us to order in advance so we can time when to arrive and make the most of our lunch hour. MUCH APPRECIATED Tachikawa. Thank you!Service is always friendly but considering they only have one wait person during lunch, it can be slooooow at times. Food is consistently good. Ambiance is nice. Prices are moderate. Presentation is great sometimes and other times just okay. Overall its a solid 3.5 stars. Rounding up half a star for letting us order in advance for our reserved table.

I am not a local, Im actually from eastern Oregon. Let me tell you, Tachikawas has the best sushi Ive tried in a super super long time. Might be the best. We did take out and the quality was exceptional! Price is great.

If you havent been, please go! Mom and pop owned. Everything here is amazing! Sashimi, rolls, bento box, etc... My regular is a sashimi combo, buba roll, hot sake and Sapporo and I am never let down. Their consistency is amazing. Very friendly staff. If you are someone who likes deep friend rolls, get their Oh Yes its fantastic. P.S. If you like anime, sit at the bar and talk to Chris, he is awesome ^_^ 10/10, HIGHLY RECOMEND!

Closer to a 4.5. than a 4. We have a great time each time we come. There may be a wait occasionally, but the food tastes good, weve never gotten sick, and they have a happy hour at the perfect time (5-6:30PM). Theyre also close to home, so when we are craving sushi, we always come here. Not as fancy as some of the bigger places, but the service is attentive, and theyre more than okay with families (read:small children) coming in for dinner. Well keep going here as long as theyre open.

My friend and I ate here twice recently. I had the Yaki Soba both times and it was amazing; hot, fresh and flavorful. I also had assorted sushi rolls, sashimi and nigiri. My friend loved the bento boxes she ordered. The service was very prompt and friendly and the prices were not too bad. We will definitely be putting this place in our rotation, as its fairly close to home.

I really want to like this place and yet the best thing I can say is their spicy tuna does not pull any punches, its actually spicy. As for the rest, well, its only OK. The rolls that I had (salmon skin, rainbow roll, California roll) were nothing to write home about. I also had salmon teriyaki and can say the sauce was not very flavorful and had the consistency of wet snot. Tasted ok, just weird.

This is so far the best place Ive been for sushi in the bay area. I got a volcano roll and a rainbow dragon roll as well as miso soup. The volcano and miso soup would have earned 5 stars but the rainbow dragon roll was very average. It wasnt well put together at all unfortunately. I would certainly recommend and will have to try other options

Tachikawa has never disappointed, unless theyre closed. Unlike other local places, the fish has always been fresh, service on time and clean restroom... If the restroom looks like a gas station restroom, what do you think the kitchen looks like?

We love this local sushi joint. The staff is always friendly and recognizes us. We even were seated at our favorite table tonight. The Tiffany Roll is an explosion of flavor. Well worth it for a specialty roll. I always take an 8 pc of salmon sashimi. Never dissapoints with freshness and flavor. The music is a fun mash up of current hits. Overall a gem in Pinole for sushi!
