The BEST tacos in and around Sonora! We even decided to use their catering for our wedding and everyone loved the taco bar! They even let you borrow warmers. We ordered the full sizeand it could easily feed 200 people. We had around 70 people and had over half left. Everyone is always so friendly as well.

We hired Taco Shop El Rey for our team member carnival. I expected the normal taco bar, but what we got was AMAZING. Their food was delicious, they were a pleasure to work with, very friendly and their service was second to none. Their prices were very reasonable. 5 stars is not enough for Taco Shop El Rey. I highly recommend them for any catering event and look forward to doing business with them again both for our company events and they have definitely earned me as a customer.

I was really excited about the menu and location. The salsa bar is fresh and there is plenty to choose from. The staff was very friendly. I got the Sonora burrito. It was so good! The only downside is that I believe the chili relleno chili was canned. It was a very light green compared to a fresh chili which would be a dark green. Not too big of a just something I noticed. I will be going back.

At $1.50 each their Sunday street taco promotion can’t be beat. Even at full price they are a great deal, you can’t even buy a burger at that price. Plus service was fast and friendly. As pictured, only $4.50 cash.

I ordered steak fajitas and chicken fajitas, both a la cart. (No rice, beans or tortilla.) Order was sat in front of me, I picked it up and went home. Found out when I got home, opps, it was not my order. Called back, they were very nice and said we have you order here.I went back to get my order and offered to pay for snagging the wrong order. They were very nice and said it was okay.The food is ALWAYS GOOD every time Ive been there.Highly suggest you give it a try.

First ate at this place a couple months ago with my boyfriend and we tried a burrito and tacos, to say the least we were very disappointed. I tried it again recently and the food still tastes awful. The food tastes as if it has been cooked with too much dirty oil or lard. Everything has a similar taste that’s why I suspect this. Do not recommend

I found this place by accident over a year ago. I had gone to the Habitat for Humanity and was starving. This place is a little hole-in-the-wall joint right next door. What a find! Sometimes theres a wait for your food. To me, thats a good sign. Theyre busy. I usually call ahead now and add an extra 5 minutes to the given estimate and even still may have to wait a few minutes. IT IS THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN SONORA...hands down. You get a lot of food. I always have leftovers. The prices are very reasonable considering how popular the place is, how good the food is and how much food you get. Their menu has something for everyone, even the kids. Breakfast is all day. My favorites are #6 Combo, #12 Combo and #6 Special. Oh, but the tortas are incredible to! And the nachos! Ugh... This really is the best place around for Mexican food. Im from San Jose and married to a Mexican. He wont eat at any other Mexican place in the area. Give it a shot. You wont be disappointed.

Food was top tier, whole family loved their order! Best shrimp burrito I have had. The shrimp were large and cooked just right. Portions and meat ratio was very generous too! Good food meh prices, but the service can leave a lot to be desired. We waited 40 minutes for food and that sucks. When a business is busy it is understandable, however when the business takes phone orders while you wait patiently in line then witness what I assume is the phone order comes in and gets their food before you and you keep waiting, its not what I would think is a good policy. Basically call your order in, its the equivalent of line cutting and you dont have to sit there.

Taco Shop El Rey catered an event for us at Indigeny Reserve this past weekend and from beginning to end it was a great experience. Emmanual was so helpful and friendly during the planning process, and the staff executed the event flawlessly. They set up early, provided utensils and drinks, great full service event, and the guests loved the food, it was DELICIOUS! Cant wait to eat there again when I am back in town.

Enchilada so spicy couldnt eat it. Enchilada only consisted of shredded cheese and spicy spicy hot sauce . Through some lettuce on top . No flavor . I could have made better at home . Had to add salt to everything. Taco shell was burnt on my taco could not eat it. Taco was just meat and shredded cheese no sauce no sour cream no flavor. The food is excellent! Other local competitors Ive been to are clueless to the required techniques to create excellent Mexican food. These guys are spot on.Their portions are definitely big enough for the big eaters.The building is clean.The prices are fair, if not on the cheap side for the quantity and quality.They are usually quite busy with phone orders, even when there arent many customers at their establishment.Personally, I hope they can franchise and move into a larger new place that would be better for families and special occasion ambiance. Currently, its kind of a hole in the wall--has about eight or nine small tables.

It was excellent Mexican food. One of the best taquerias Ive been to in a long time. My burrito was huge, and full of flavor. I highly recommend them if youre in the Sonora area. If there was one complaint, it would have to be that they didnt wrap the burrito in foil, so it got a little messy. But it was definitely worth the mess

First visit there was hoping for an awesome cheese enchiladas came out and cheese un melted. This was a walk in take out order.Took it back in minutes after done, and cook came out and said the microwave cooked it to temp and customers don’t usually eat the take out for 30 minutes so it steams inside the foam box. So it will be fine..... negative 5stars in my book because they didn’t do their jobs and customer service sucked.

The food is great. Never displeased with the food. Everytime I call to place and order they pick up and immediately hang up. Happened 3 times in a row. So I figured they are busy. I come in the to place order and the young lady who took my order was just rude. Rolled her eyes while i was ordering. And when i went to sign the receipt she thru the receipt and just walked away. No pen, no acknowledgment. Then when my food was ready she dropped it in my hands and turned around and said nothing. She was a delight with all the other customers though. Now I understand this job can be non stop and we are all human but, I felt like a inconvenience. Ill see what happens next time.

This has been our go-to for Mexican take out for several years. Always generous portions, delicious food, and quick service. I felt Covid-safe in the restaurant while placing my order. Masks were required, it was take-out only, and they had hand sanitizer by the door and at the checkout.We love their chicken chimichangas, and have tried burritos with various fillings. All are good. We had El Rey’s cater our wedding of 110+ guests recently. The food was incredible and the amount of food we were given for the price was more than enough to feed our friends and family, plus ourselves for the days to come! We used to love this place, but the last three times we have ordered, either they dont have what we ordered or they get the order wrong. Many times we find we dont have all our order when we get home. Thats my bad, I should check before I leave. Not bad, just bland. Red sauce is just not quite flavorful. Which is upsetting considering I ordered green sauce. Also when I asked for chicken and cheese enchiladas with green sauce, I received one cheese and one chicken with red. They usually side with rice and beans, which my wife did get I asked for none so that was fine. She said she felt the rice was bland. Again just ok. Which is fine.

I have been to this spot a total of 5 times or so, I always get the to go order & every time it is wrong. One time I asked for a bean a cheese burrito and I got a chicken burrito that had a ton of peppers in it and my son wouldn’t eat it so I waisted $6. Anyone who has a toddler knows they aren’t happy when there meal is wrong. I have gone a few more times and unfortunately once again here I am eating a meal that isn’t how I ordered it.

Way better than the taqueria in downtown Sonora!I grew up close by and have seen restaurants come and go from here so frequently that just this location in general had a bad rap. Let me tell you, Taco Shop El Rey has completely transformed this cozy little shopping center. Their food is pure and authentic. Their menu has breakfast lunch and dinner. They seemed understaffed when business began to pick up, I hope they will one day move into a bigger and cleaner building and I hope for nothing but success for this little shop.The Sonora burrito...
