Wow! This place is phenomenal!We just moved to this area and we were sad to leave our favorite food truck and taco spots but this place has lifted our spirits. When I say this place is great I mean it! Whatever they’re doing, they’re doing it right! We tried the torta de asada (highly recommend), asada tacos, and tripa tacos. Everything is was so flavorful. We also had their horchata which was delicious by the way. This is the kind of taco truck you just have to keep coming back to. Here’s a quote from my husband about the torta, “I was so hungry and eating the torta made me hungrier because of how good it tasted. Wow!” The ladies that work the taco truck were kind and you can tell that they care about the quality of their food. If you’re ever near this place I highly suggest you stop by and try their food. You won’t regret it.
Whenever I’m home I always visit the Tacos El Autlense truck for some Horchata and Tacos… love this place and have been going there for years. Highly recommend for affordable, authentic, and delicious food. Very kind people!

[Cash Only] solid 4.5! Between the two of us we had 3 tacos (beef tongue, steak, tripe) & steak burrito with avocado. Beef burrito was a little salty but still good. All were delicious!

My go-to is the Carnitas burrito, because this is one of the only mexican eateries (I’ve found) which has CRUNCHY carnitas. Their cabeza burrito is also very tasty. Atmosphere I gave a 2 because lets be honest, its a truck in the alley behind a bar. That said, I find these kind of places offer the best foodsGetting to which, the food here is phenomenal! Delicious burritos? Check! Cant miss tacos? Check! Everything is good and we come back here regularly. Dont miss out on their lengua and cabeza. Douse everything in their tangy and spicy salsa Verde and get a side of pickled jalapenos and carrots and youll be a happy camper. So so good!

We love trying new tacos so here we goFood: got 3 tacos asada 8/10 only because it was a tad bit salty, carnitas 10/10 crispy and flavorful, tripas 10/10 well cooked and crispy. Red salsa wasnt my fave only because it tasted too tomatoy, green salsa was bomb so flavorful. I do wish the tortilla was handmade but overall great to satisfy a street taco craving for sure. Prices were a bit pricey but reasonable $3 each. Wish they had pickled carrots and cebolla asada too but still good.Service: I appreciate that they had one person was charging and other handling food. Makes it feel clean. Very friendly also. Their carnitas is fantastic. Im within walking distance but I know people that make it a destination over other places that are closer to where they live. I usually get tacos or a torta, Gordo is my go-to for burritos. It can get busy close to meal times which means you might have a bit of a wait. Fortunately you duck into the bar for some quick pain relief if youre so inclined.
Open until midnight and cash only. Ive only tried their burritos but I see many customers getting their tacos. The Carne Asada might be a little salty for some, but great late night Mexican food after a night of drinking. You have to get it to go or eat in the bar next door.
I have been going here for years and the quality has remained consistent. Unfortunately the last two times I went there different employees were making the burritos and the younger new girl seemed annoyed at her job. Their prices for a burrito went from $ 8 to $11 and they shrunk . The burrito I got yesterday which is also the last one I get from this place was 1/2 the size of the old days and the massive tortilla was looped so many times it resulted in roughly a 1/3rd of the burrito being flour. Flavorless rip-off. Save your money.
I had Birria, Carne Asada and Al pastor. Everything was absolutely delicious. Will drop by next time in the neighborhood. Any one should.

I LOVE THIS TACO TRUCK! It satisfies my taco cravings at any time of day! The tacos come out quick and fresh with all the toppings (if thats your style). Theres always some foot traffic around the area, but definitely worth the wait even if you see a line. Just a reminder, they only accept cash, so make sure youre prepared. Otherwise, couldnt ask for more from this place.
Really amazing food! I try and eat plant based as much as possible so I can say their veggie tacos are really good. But for those days when you need some extra protein, and have been doing your best to reduce your carbon footprint, their chicken burritos are out of this world! The flavor is truly on another level. There can be a little wait, but its not bad. Green salsa is the way to go. If you want more than one salsa with your burrito, make sure to ask ahead of time as I believe it costs a little more for extra. Line to order on the right usually, then just wait off to the left for your number (if they gave you a ticket). They dont always had out tickets if its not too busy, so dont be alarmed if you dont get one. Enjoy!

Growing up in San Diego its difficult to find Mexican food I can appreciate in the Bay Area, but I would definitely eat here again. It was excellent, and the salsa was actually quite good.
Hands down, BEST TACO SPOT IN EAST BAY. Where do I even begin? Ok the taste: amazing. Very flavorful. Even the tortilla by itself packs lots of flavor. The meat selection: 💯. I finally, finally found a delicious tripa taco!! Woohooo! A little soft, a little crunchy, a whole lotta perfect. The carnitas are muah *chef’s kiss* as are the birria tacos. You can also order a quesadilla, get it with birria, add the consome and bam. Meal! They also have lengua, cabeza, asada, al pastor and veggie, which are quite tasty. They do NOT skimp on the meat, toppings, salsa, or the little jalapeños and carrots they give you in little baggies. The prices? Phenomenal. $2.5-$3 for tacos, $10 for a huge torta or burrito. Pssh, it’s a steal! And the service is quuuick, baby! Even if there’s a lot of people, you will get your food in 10 min or less. AND they’re open literally every day. Every day. We go twice a week at least. It might not be good for my diet plans but it’s good for my soul.

Accidentally gave a $5 and a $100 for my food instead of two $5. The lady noticed my mistake and immediately gave me back the $100. So grateful for their honesty as I am not working at the moment.Aside from that the food is delicious. So far Ive had the El Pastor burrito and the tacos. Very good service. You may have to wait 19 minutes or so for your food but well worth the wait. Blessings on all who work here
I am in love with these tacos and the people who provide them. Very kind, food is super reasonably priced, and it is just delicious. You may have to wait a bit if they are busy, but your patience pays off -- The turn around is only slow when they are busy and they are literally working out of a taco truck! TL;DR service SUCKS, food is mediocre. This place used to be really good. I went here today and the women behind taking the orders and money were rude, disrespectful and money hungry. I came with a party of 4, my colleague ordered 4 tacos and chips and salsa, they charged extra and only gave a flippant response as to why, my second colleague ordered tacos with sour cream, once checked there wasnt any. When questioned the lady taking the orders said she didnt pay for it and she definitely did.. When she asked that it be added to her tacos, the lady said CALM DOWN! My order and my 3rd colleague ordered a burrito and they didnt even add ANY SALSA . They continued to give attitude and asked for more money. In conclusion, this place has went downhill as far as service and taste. I will never patronize this place again.

I tried to call ahead today 5 times. no one answered. final time I left a message. no one called me back. My daughter loves their food, so I ordered in person again today. My favorite is the pastor burrito or taco, its always so tender and juicy, which is often not my experience with other places. Their veggie tacos are loaded with beans, rice lettuce and salsa. If youve every had tacos in LA, or any where south thereof, then youll know that the tacos in the Bay Area simply dont stack up. However this place comes closer than any other.The Birria is amazing and the Carnitas are juicy with the perfect amount of crispy!
Not quite as cheap as it used to be! Unfortunately, the quality of the food is not as good either. I understand the need to raise the prices, but not the decline in quality. To give you an example, the past three times Ive gone, theyve ran out of ingredients and still charged $8 for burritos. Its one of the better Mexican food restaurants in Albany, but I wouldnt make it a destination anymore. There is also a long long wait, which adds to the frustration.

This is my favorite spot for burritos in the East Bay. My favorite is the pastor, but everything is good. There is a vegetarian burrito option thats not on the menu. Make sure to get some green salsa before you go. You can take your food into the bar next door and get a drink, play some shuffleboard. Or take it to go to the Marina or Indian rock. Yum!

I was there a few months ago and wasnt impressed. Ive been there again, twice, in the last 2 weeks or so. The tacos were amazing, I had a variety of meats and were just great. I will definitely be going back more often
I hate to even leave a bad review because Ive been coming here for years, but I was highly upset and disappointed to find out that the chicken burrito I ordered was steak. Especially since I dont eat red meat and of course I didnt notice til after I took a bite. There was no one in front of me and no one behind me in line and she confirmed twice that it was chicken, once when I ordered and when she handed me the food so I dont understand how they gave me steak. This is still my favorite taco truck but after a long day of work and commute this is very irritating. I was looking forward to that burrito all day SMH

Theres a reason for the long lines here. Best tacos on The Avenue. You can even take them inside the bar next door and enjoy them with an adult beverage. Staff is polite and friendly. You may have to wait a bit for your food when the line backs up but for the quality and price you cant beat it.
The tacos are lack a good amount of meat, the salsa tastes poorly and the they taste like over burnt oil.The quesadillas are fried! Its horrible!The salsa does not taste good and its also very much oily like the rest of the foodI spent $15.50 for 4 tacos a chess quesadilla and a Sunkist.Definitely not worth even $5.

Moved to Berkeley today, unsure if I’d stay. I have been living in Phoenix where good Mexican is abundant and was worried it would be hard to find here. I went, it’s delicious, and I love that the lady didn’t even try to speak English. After this burrito, I’m probably staying.

The best taco tick by far in the Berkeley, Albany, El Cerrito area. Everything is cooked to order, so if there is a line it takes a few minutes. All of the meat choices are excellent.

This place is a taco truck, where you can order your tacos and eat them back in the bar (Hotsy Totsy) or you can take your tacos to eat them back home. Besides that, there is no place (table or chairs) to sit down to have tacos with your family. Weve tried carnitas, pastor, asada (beef), and birria (made with beef, not goat.) You cannot go wrong with carnitas or pastor. If you have picky eaters with you, you can ask to put cilantro/onions/sauce on the side. We also tried the ceviche and its very fresh fish. This is an Albany gem and it has a long wait because of its competitive prices, but totally worth it.
The perfect tacos. Since my ratings only reflect the quality of the food Ill give it 5 stars, but the long wait and lack of seating really affect the appeal of this place. If they opened a restaurant that could handle more customers then I would visit a lot more.

Delicious veggie burrito. I usually prefer black or refried beans but these pinto beans work for this combination of flavors. I wish it came with avocado included since it is the veggie is the same price as the meat burritos ($8) but 50¢ is a decent add-on price and its sooo yummy.

Cash-only food truck with those OG carnes (lengua??? cabeza??? Yes please). You might have to wait a bit if you go around common meal times but itll be a satisfying wai. That bolsita of jalapenos will always pair well with whatever you get. Theres a residential area just around the corner so parking is pretty easy to find.

2023-01-19 06:42:27I ordered three tacos. The Birria was very tender and juicy, the Aastor was good, and the Lengua was my favorite because of the sweetness of the meat combined with the sourness of the sauce. The ceviche is great on tortilla chips.

2022-12-11 21:11:07First time here. Ordered 1 taco of Pastor, Cabeza, Carnitas, & Birria.The meat was very tender, juicy, and flavorful. Had green salsa, which had a great flavor and wasnt too spicy. Lots of veggies available as well.Service was quick and polite.There isnt any seating area to eat there. Also parking is very scarce.
