This is our favorite sushi place. We get takeout at least once a month. The rolls are amazing, and the chicken teriyaki is divine! Worth every penny!

Food is priced about a $1 less than typical sushi restaurants in the Bay Area. We got the Salmon Bento and the Salmon was overcooked and a little hard to eat (rubbery with too many grill marks).The nigiri was good, the fish was a thinner cut, but pretty good. Their rice itself was good as well.Servers were very good, constantly checked up and made sure it was all going good.The fried rolls were good, but got tiring after about half due to the type of breading.Overall 4/5, Id go again, its good for Auburn. I didnt expect Auburn to have good 🍣.

My parents bought some Maru Sushi the other day and it was my first time having it. I was really impressed by how good it all tasted from the Salmon, to the sushi rolls, and Gyoza). They have a special lunch box value at $8.50. i always go with the Salmon Teriyaki. I will be coming by to this place whenever I feel like getting something Japanese cuisine. Definitely recommend visiting and eating

This has become my favorite sushi source. Why? Because they put a lot of filling in their sushi (see photo), i.e., more filling and less rice, instead of more rice than filling from other sushi places in the district; and because their prices arent jacked up. I travel 19 miles one-way for this sushi, or whenever Im in Auburn.

They always close for months at a time. I guess thats their perogative but it sure is a bummer when they do. CHILI SALMON ROLL IS THE BEST. THEY SALMON IS COOKED, BUT NOT WARM. CILANTRO. ROW ON TOP. NO CRAB:) AND SWEET CHILI SAUCE. I ORDER SLICED LEMON TO BE PUT.INSIDE. ITS REFRESHING AND PERFECT

I live near this place and was a great go to whenever we got the crave. Post pandemic now is only pick up and we’ve been twice. The food has been horrible. Small stale fish that was crusty around the edges. Salad is a handful of old iceberg thown in a styrophone container with no care. No veggies in the salad. Really bad seaweed salad was tasteless and had a texture I was afraid of. It is one of my favorite dishes but I could not choke this down. Bottom line is I spent $70 to have a nice sushi dinner and ended up tossing it. I can’t stress how bad this was. Too bad because being only pick up you get the food home and it’s too late and the evening is ruined. Never again. I would be embarrassed to serve such poor quality.

I just spent $75 here for dinner and I’ I’m VERY disappointed. Although the portions were decent sized, the quality was awful. Our rolls were soggy, the fish wasn’t fresh and i won’t be eating there again.

We almost always go to sushi when we get restaurant food. This place is my favorite! The lobster king is the best roll I think Ive ever eaten. The doobeedoo is super good too. We have only eaten here twice so far and have loved it both times!

I have been enjoying sushi for 40 years. This restaurant ranks in my top 3. I love the rainbow hand rolls. The fish is super fresh and the service is superb. Its definitely worth taking the time to drive there as ther location is a bit out of the way.

We love sushi, so we frequent Take Marus. They have really good sushi, dinners and lunch specials. Prices are good for what you get. Family run, so the only bad part is when they go on vacation, I cant wait until they get back. Everything is clean. Service I will admit can be prompt but sometimes only with a grumpy face. Depends on the server. Love watching the baby growing up. Beautiful child. Try it, I think you will like it.

We drove all the way down from grass valley to get some sushi from a previously loved sushi place. The front door was covered in Saran Wrap and they were only open for take out. We love their sushi, but it was really disappointing that their listing says open for indoor dining to be open for take out only. Commenting to have them update their listing.

Food was excellent, some of the best I have ever had, while still being quite affordable. The restaurant was quiet and comfortable, and the service was pretty good. Highly recommend the nigiri, the quality of the fish was very, very high and the Chefs rolls were very good as well. The Okinawa and Monster roll special were interesting and a very nice accompaniment to the more traditional rolls.

This is take out only, but they have not updated their website, it says it is open for dine-in and take-out, so a wasted trip for us. It’s close to our home and when we could eat in, the food was always good, but when we tried the take-out, it seemed like our rolls were made earlier in the day and not free. So disappointed, I hope they open for dine-in again. We won’t go back for take out.

New to us. Always looking for good sushi place. Prices are very reasonable. We ordered spicy edemami as a starter. Very good. Tea is Jasmine. Other beverages available. The 3 sushi plates we ordered were all different and fresh. I like the sesame seeds in the rice covering the fish rolls. Good service. Time was taken to explain the dishes. Other Japanese food available.

Good appetizer options. One of the few Japanese places that list vegetarian options. Vegetarian ramen was pretty darned good. A tad understaffed at peak Saturday dinner hour, but considerate and helpful staff. Also, try the tempura vegetables! They were light and not oily or chewy. We enjoyed them! Table by the door was chilly. Owners seem to take time off in late January through February, so double check that its open if youre planning to try the place around that time.

Spacious lay out and nice tall chairs give you a sense of privacy. Its a quiet place where you dont need to yell to have a conversation which is nice.The sushi is good and friendly staff.With so many options for sushi around Id say this is place is 4th on my list. Worth going to if you are near by.

The radish isnt cut traditionally, the seaweed is dry in the miso soup, the soup has a strange flavor, the rice isnt hot enough, and the display of the sushi could be better, the sushi could also be cut smaller. The waitor never really checked on me either. It was all done very lazy and I didnt feel welcomed. In terms of pros: Id say the sushi was pretty good...but like I said before:too big of a cut, the prices were also great.

Horrible food, bad service. I order $70 worth of food to go. The fish was splitting, discolored, tasted and smelled pretty bad.Totally ruined our appetite. I went back and ask for a refund and only got $30 back... they told me no one complains and they dont understand why its bad so they wouldnt give me a full refund. Nor did they offer or to remake the rolls.100% do not recommended, just go some where else

I went here with my sister, Ive tried quite a few sushi resturaunts in Auburn, this one is the best one in Auburn. Not bad, but not great.I did enjoy their salmon nigri, but we mostly stuck with the rolls.

Very fresh sushi, wide variety on menu, good lunch specials, the best assortment of vegetarian sushi I’ve seen at any sushi restaurant and these are good creative items, good sized portions. Not the friendliest sushi restaurant, they are soft spoken and humble so not one of those lively sushi restaurants but their food speaks loudly. We love it!

I dont understand how people come up with such high ratings for average places. There is no toro served here. Not even chu toro. So why the high rating for average tuna? Its average thats all. It is clean. It is a 3 star sushi restaurant.
