Very nice place, we enjoyed our lunch very much, very frendly customer service, sushi very fresh, Yakisoba and fried rice super delicious, defenetly going back.
First time trying this place out and it was really yummy sushi at a reasonable price (50% off of classic sushi rolls and 30% off of specialty sushi rolls). The restaurant looked tidy and had a nice setting too. We ordered carryout, so I cant weigh in on their customer service too much. However, the interaction we had was your typical encounter. 10% off your bill if you pay with cash.
This place is amazing!! We have been coming here for months and now with the stay at home order we have to get our food Togo but it is still amazing. My youngest gets the ramen and loves it. My older son and I usually split the tempura saki roll and the California roll!

Weve always enjoyed sushi, from when we met in 1982. We fondly remember so many sushi bars that have come and gone - Kazras downtown with the Shintu-priest proprietor whose voice was raspy from too many cigarettes, the Elvis-look-alike sushi chef at Kinokawa in Chula Vista, the family who ran Kamon in La Mesa who brought Karaoke to San Diego. They have all come and gone, but their artistry remains firmly planted in memory.In our neighborhood, Covid seems to have done a number on our neighborhood sushi bars. Tsuki Sushi has mysteriously vanished, Narumi is content with preparing Take-Out only orders and customers are no longer welcome to dine there in person. Ahi Sushi is no longer our go-to as the nigiri becomes smaller and the hours posted online are inaccurate, as we found out the hard way. Therefore, Takka in Santee, is like the glimmering gem spotted on the bottom of a pond.We went in last night and had an amazing experience. The sushi was super fresh, the albacore was so tasty, and they had fresh ikura! Its been two years since we had that!Suffice it to say, this is our new go-to sushi bar, thanks to the prowess of sushi chef Jack and the rest of the staff. Excellent!
We came on Tuesday around 5pm. The food was good and average prices. We had combination plates. The wait staff were friendly and checked on us often. The atmosphere was just ok. Nothing special but not bad either. We didnt care to hear the sushi chef on his phone the whole time we were there(~50 min). His loud talking was VERY ANNOYING, especially when he was using the speaker phone for almost 1/2 hour.
First time here and the Happy roll sushi was very good. The service here was not very good. The three servers looked miserable, and therefore pretty much treated the customers the same way. And we were not the only ones. Dee received our sushi before appetizers. No one came to check on us or to see if we want to do anything else. Which we wanted two more rolls, another glass of wine and dessert but we were unable to get anyone to order extra stuff. We were ignored flat out. I couldn’t even get a glass of water until I received the check at the end. At The table next to us they had to go up and tell them they ordered iced tea and not a cola drink, they were ignored.Just a shame that their great tasting sushi was ruined by just bad service. they weren’t even busy when we were there so they weren’t overrun by work, they just didn’t care. We are Not going back. A real bummer

Heard this place had good sushi. First the service was horrible ( forgot to bring us our salads and green ice cream), took a long time to get food that did come. Owners need to reevaluate their serving plan ( can be much more organized). The sushi was average at best, I’ve had better at many other places. If you go with a group tip is automatically included, so if service was bad you have no choice to give a lesser tip. We’ve decided not to go back.

Food was great, had 5 people In our party and would separate 3 tickets, would not let us pat separate. Then 2 of us tried to pay cash for a 10% discount and would was told all of us had to pay cash. Total BS on the cash policy. Will not eat there again the customer service was very sub par. Yet the sushi was good.

This place is awesome, they always have a smile on their face. Menu items are discounted when you pay cash. The bento box is huge and prices are great. The sushi is authentic and good as well. Very good vibes here.
Went here with friends who highly recommend me try Sushi and Takka was the place to go on their list. It was great! Especially the Hawaiian special roll. 😋 California Beach roll, Salmon skin roll. So good. The service was great. Quiet amposhere. Friendly. I had a great time celebrating my birthday as well. Will definitely be coming back. Maybe date night 😉!
This place is here just to fill a void.I wanted sushi and this place was rated on Goggle as one of the highest in the area.- Service was less than stellar that would rate less than a 10% tip. So a ‘D’ grade.- food was ok. Rolls were not wrapped right and fell apart when trying to pick them up. The tempura had some weird batter on it and it wasn’t true tempura batter. I would give it a ‘C-‘.- Atmosphere, an annoying loud lady and her kid sat behind me, which was bothersome. But there was nothing special or nice about the place. As least the dining area was clean. Hopefully the kitchen was clean too. A ‘C’ grade.Not sure why this place rates so high. Maybe cuz it’s just decent average sushi for local Santee. But there are better places.
Every visit is its own experience! Today I got the Ring of fire roll, wasnt particularly fond of it but it was a good first time try. I did get two hand rolls one spicy tuna and one Salmon skin. Those were exceptional! Miso soup and a green iced tea hit the spot!
To be fair, this place is decent. The 1/2 off classic rolls gimic makes for competitively price sushi. The portions are nice and the fish is fresh. If you dont have dietary restrictions I would recommend visiting. If you have celiac and gluten free matters, STAY AWAY! There are other, more expensive, places in town that can reliability prepared GF sushi. The staff here do not seem to know what GF even means and will tell you its GF, which may work on people who just want to avoid gluten, but for those with celiac it will poison them. Yes poison is a harsh word, but to the staff of Takka, please research celiac disease and educate your staff. Missleading people about the ingredients you use causes real harm.They do not seem to understand what gluten free means. If you specifically ask about ingredients like soy sauce or shrimi they will tell you they use GF shrimi or that there is no soy sauce in this etc. Ill stop short of accusing them of lying, but they certainly seem willing to shine you allong. So if you have celiac, and GF matters, dont eat here! Otherwise, decent sushi at a decent price.
Nice staff. Sushi tasted fresh, delicious. Huge rolls. Well worth the price. Only thing is that they took a long time to bring out our first rolls. Great place for yummy food.

Wonderful sushi! We went to try this place for the first time and were surprised by the food and service. The employees were very nice and the gave excellent service. Ordering was easy as it was presented on the menu and confirmed by a scratch pad which the patron fills out. The food was tasty and delicious. The price was much cheaper then we thought. Im returning....
Quick friendly service, unfortunately they didnt and wont have the quail egg shooters. Quality fish for nigiri and hand rolls. For santee the price is right and the fresh ingredients make the rolls, soup and tea a must hit if you are around the area.

My family and I ADORE this place. It has a lot of food for a fantastic price and its amazingly delicious. They have some good stuff! I take my friends here all the time! The service is very good and although the place itself isnt the most modern its kept very clean.They have full plates of food along with sushi rolls on their menu. Most drinks have free refills and their mochi ice cream is cute and tasty!I highly recommend this place to anybody!

Food was delicious! Went on a Friday around 630 and wasnt terribly busy for a Friday but people that came in 20 minutes after us got their appetizers and salad first. Then the waitress almost gave ours to another table. That was upsetting. Bathrooms were clean. Not terribly priced for delicious sushi!
Always go to Taka for my sushi! We love love love the Spanish roll. Ring of fire and tempura shrimp roll are awesome also. Sushi is always fresh and prices are great!

Altogether, This is the best sushi in San Diego county. This rating is based off of low prices for sushi, the rolls are very big. The rolls are very pretty and made neat, the taste is great. I eat here more than anything. My girlfriend and try many sushi places in the county and this is the best over all considering all those factors.
Dont get me wrong. 3-stars is a sign of normal good. The food is quite normal good. It isnt special or inspired. But if youre looking for good quality and good sushi/Japanese, then worth a try. Very reasonable prices, sushi and other dishes Ive had are as expected (good). Dont let the 3-stars scare you. Solid sushi.
Ive been coming back to this place for the past 2 years. This place sets the standard for all the other sushi places in and around San Diego. Of the many other places I have tried I always return here.The food is excellent and the prices are very fair. You will always leave here satisfied. I highly recommend that your go with a large group and everyone get a different roll to try as much as you can on the menu.

Went just after lunch on a tues. Food was great! Service was ok. Server a bit inattentive, she forgot something we ordered and didnt seem to care. We only had sushi and really enjoyed it. Two of us dropped 50 bucks on 6 items.
Nice little sushi restaurant with a good amount of seating and a long bar. The menu offers items besides sushi, but thats the appealing product here. Staff is alright and service is pretty fair...the food was served in a normal manner since it was slightly busy on this night.I ordered a few sushi items, such as the vegetable tempura roll and cali roll. They were presented well and tasted alright.The prices here are lower than some other places, and this place also does that 50% off certain rolls..so that makes some of them a good deal. If you plan it correctly, you can get a good amount of sushi for less than $20.

In Santee, this is the best sushi youre going to find. The service has a few kinks, but nothing they wont work out in a few weeks/months.Ordered the cream cheese won tons (the best fried won tons Ive EVER tasted....EVER. And Ive had many...) and the standard crunchy roll. Both were good and fresh and prepared properly. I will certainly be coming back.
This is a new place to go to for a casual sit down with friends and family sushi place. The atmosphere is normal and the customer service is nice and they check up on you often and answer your questions. However it can be loud but not from the customers but the actual staff. The person behind the sushi bar was constantly talking on the phone loudly and or on speaker. He was very annoying especially when youre just trying to eat but instead your head is filled with loud and obnoxious laughter/talking.
Not a big fan of sushi but Takka has this fried salmon roll that is delicious and unique. My son is usually picky with his food but he devoured 3 California rolls without crab and with a crunchy topping on the rice roll. Support the small business please.

The rolls I ordered ; valcano and Caterpillar. The volcano was made a bit different but I loved the taste. It was very creamy and served hot with melted sweet and sour cream. The Caterpillar was a normal roll as always the portions where rather small about 5. I did see others who dine in get a bigger roll so maybe that was it not sure. Overall it was a bit pricey about $26 for 2 rolls but they did taste great.
Just had this place for a quiet lunch. The prices were fairly and quality was good. I had the Dragon Roll (really good) and my friend had 2 rolls. We also spilt the California Beach Roll (which has baked scallops) - this was interesting but not my favorite. The waitress forgot our edamame but was very nice and apologized, then said it was on the house. All in all, it was a pretty good and affordable.
It was ok. Prices were good like other people posted. I found the toaster ovens in the sushi bar different. Service was really good. 4 royals, 2 soups and 2 large beers for $52.
Good sushi, not the best, but definitely good, and well priced. Definitely one of the better sushi places in east county. Highly recommend calling and ordering ahead if ordering take out.
I would leave no stars if possible. Took us 15 minutes to receive our drinks. Then an additional 10 minutes to put our order in. Upon waiting for our sushi, we decided enough was enough after 30 minutes passed without receiving our food or so much as a waitress/ waiter even batting an eye in our direction. So wasted over an hour total at this place for nothing. They sure were pumping out the to-go orders though instead of handling the customers that were actually inside the restaurant. I would suggest not wasting your time and finding another sushi establishment.
Wont be returning here. Placed order for 3 rolls. 40min later, no food, but waiter had refilled our drinks. Asked about our rolls, and saw a different waiter ask each of the chefs who then answered no. Re-ordered our 3 rolls. Was given 2 of them 5 minutes later. After we finished the 2, we asked about the 3rd one. Yeah, they didnt make it. So we had to wait *longer*!!! I can tolerate mediocre food if the customer service is good. But evidently, good customer service is not to be had here.
Their baked salmon roll was way too salty. Fried calamari rings were rubbery. Chicken fried rice had a plastic taste to it which ended up getting tossed. Total waste. The seaweed salad was ok.
This is my go-to sushi place. Cheap and delicious, they serve other food too. I give 4 stars instead of 5 because it took a lot of waving to get the waitress over to me and we were the only people there at the time.
I am simple when it comes to sushi and usually only order the Alaskan, spicy crab or veggie tempura. But these guys do a great job of it. The atmosphere is relaxed and slow paced with good prices. This is also my favorite place for chicken katsu. Ive lived in 5 different states and this is still my favorite chicken katsu.
Very good sushi. Currently bcuz of Covid19 it is take out only. Service was very good and fast. All three rolls I got were delicious. I did assume I was getting nigiri but it ended up being sashimi, however it was still quite tasty. Two thumbs up Takka.Oh and another thing, most of my items were 30-50% off ... That was a surprise when I went to pay. 🤩🤩🤩

Overall the place was decent; the food was okay and the building and the decor itself was nice, but everything lacked in a lot of areas as well.The food is blatantly not authentic japanese; the Ton Katsu Don is exactly the same as their Ton Katsu with a layer of slightly scrambled egg on top of it, rather than being in a bowl mixed with the Katsu among other vegetables. The Katsu themselves were extremely bready and too crunchy/crispy which made the food taste like just friend bread with hints of meat. The sushi looked nice and big but actually lacked a lot of substance and flavor, most of the flavor that did manage to come out was rice and water rather than the ingredients that it had. The miso soup was perfect and had a lot of flavor. Compared to other Japanese restaurants, the price is decent. Not only that, but the food came out extremely fast.In regards to the place, there were 3 doors, but 2 of them were not usable, and only 1 of those had any signs indicating that. The inside has some Christmas lights strewn about the perimeter of the ceiling, which adds much needed lighting, but looks a little trashy and cluncky if you look at them too closely, but still a nice touch nonetheless; maybe if they were better arranged or a different method of bringing small lights were introduced it would look a lot nicer. There is also signs of water leaks or stains on the ceiling of the roof which give off an unclean vibe to an overall clean restaurant.The staff were very helpful to the guests and were happy to help out with great smiles no matter the situation. Some of the chefs/cooks on the other hand, had scowls throughout the night, however they may simply have been going through a rough time.Overall, Takka Sushi Bar & Grill is a decent place for its price. Its almost like a fast food version of Japanese food. If you want to experience Japanese food, maybe give this place a pass, but if you want to go with a group to get a quick bite somewhere japanese, this is definitely a great place to do so.
Sushi is decent. Have ordered to go without issues over the past year. Ate in once a few months ago and had the order messed up, not a big deal but the manager was arguing about us receiving a roll that we were never served. Not a big deal but my gripe is tonight I tried calling in an order and the phone rang until it disconnected. Tried calling again and got a busy tone, no big deal, probably others calling in orders. I go inside the restaurant to order and the hostess tells me that she disconnected the phone because to go orders will take too long. I wish they would tell customers that instead of just leaving the phone busy. I still ordered but its just a major inconvenience and in my opinion unprofessional to just disconnect the phone because you are busy.
Takka sushi gives you a good quality item at a price that wont hurt.The place is on par with Domo sushi, which is located all of 1 block east.With 2 sushi places located so near to each other you may think it hard to choose one over the other. Well it is because I could not tell any different in the food quality.Decor is a bit on the dark side. They do happen to have a meeting room with large table.

I have been eating sushi my whole life and this is in the top 3 of the worst sushi Ive ever had. He sushi is prepared incorrectly and the employees lack knowledge of the products. I ordered spicy scallops and I got sliced scallops with Sriracha on top. The 5 star reviews are either employees, or have never eaten at other sushi places. This sets the borderline standard for mall sushi.
Excellent food, service and an incredible value with their half price classic sushi rolls. Large Kirin Ichiban, small sake (free with beer purchase) and 4 rolls, all of which were delicious, under $30!

Domo Sushi is only a block away from Taka in the vons parking lot. People are extremely friendly at Domo sushi which is something that doesnt exist at Taka Sushi
The restaurant looks nice inside.... the sushi was really good, lots of items on the menu... tried the miso soup approved, the crunchy roll was delicious, they were limited on the beer and the teriyaki was a little different than youd expect but overall I was happy with my visit n recommended as a nice sushi dinner place..✌😁

The food was great, but service wasn’t the best. the person who sat us was great, but the servers and bus boys were rude as hell.
The food was ok. The waiter didnt make me feel welcome there, he didnt once ask how is the food? I will probably not comb back.

Takka Sushi seems to have a mix of the stuff we both love and at more than fair prices too.The staff seemed very friendly and attentive. The food came out and was well presented. You can tell that they care about their dishes.For appetizers, we ordered the fried calamari ($10.95) which came out nearly stacked with a side of their spicy dipping sauce. Loved it. Wish they added more sauce though. We also ordered vegetable tempura ($8.50).My wife ordered one of their udon ramen bowls. She enjoyed it very much. I cant remember which one she ordered. She also ordered their Rainbow Roll ($17).I ordered their Spider Roll (soft shelled crab roll) ($17), the Hot Lips Roll (scallops and crab, spicy) ($17), and the Sashimi Mix (9 pieces) ($16.95). I loved everything!You get 50% off of all classic rolls and 30% off of special rolls (dine in and to go orders).I will definitely be back, and will also be ordering food for lunch. I work from home and they are just down the street.Thanks Takka Sushi!

2023-07-25 14:39:23I keep coming back! Good sushi at a reasonable price. Fast service in a convienent, central location in Santee. Very casual dining with food that is very well presented. Great selection on the menu. I love the house salad and always get a couple of rolls to share. Garlic edamame is one of my faves. Definitely give Takka a try.

2020-03-03 03:51:37Good sushi at a good price. I suggest the “Spanish Roll” and the “Amazing Roll” for something different and tasty. Free refills on Iced Tea or Sodas ($1.95). Only issue I have is that the rolls vary in tightness (Which affects the way you eat) depending on the chefs skill. Also the interior could use a refresher or update(Especially the bathroom). Give them a try.

2022-05-05 18:33:48I wanted to try a different sushi place so we decided on Takka. The prices were less expensive than others places Ive been but the quality was still good. There are lots and lots of roll options and they are either 50% or 30% off the menu prices. I really enjoyed the monkey balls and the ring of fire roll. Service was very good as well. Located in a plaza next to Kung Fu Tea so you can get boba for dessert.
