We had the Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen, Sashimi 12 piece, bbq salmon, and the fried peppers. Ramen was good one of the best so far broth wise, bamboo wasn’t really complementary though. Fried squid the chard taste was a little too strong, had to smother it in sauce to enjoy. sashimi was good. Bbq salmon was perfect! Service could have been a bit more personable seemed very go go go even though it didn’t appear to be too busy. All in all Husband and I enjoyed our dinner. Recommend giving it a try!

This place was awesome! The food was excellent! Ill definitely be going back here they have so many things to chose from and its all very tasty! Dat is a very friendly guy! The staff were pretty friendly as well! Very clean place environment is great! The rib were extremely tasty and just fell off the bone and melted in your mouth! Wish I lived there just so I could go there a few times a week! The j town sushi was really really good the fried mushrooms very tasty never would have thought I would try them but glad I did!

They have a lot of vegetarian options and I feel like it’s more a fusion and not authentic Japanese. It’s not a bad thing and some of the dishes are very tasty. The mushroom fries is actually coated mushroom and not fries. The tofu mushroom soup is savory and pretty good. The mushroom dish tastes like onion soup, so it’s more like a fusion. The other oyster mushroom dish tastes like Taiwanese food. The beets salad is ok. Overall it’s good.

Absolutely loved this ramen place. was seated quickly and i love the layout with varying seating arrangements. a beautiful menu with so many different options everyone is bound to find something they enjoy. as a vegetarian, i felt like there were plenty of options for me as well which i really appreciated. the broth was so flavorful and i loved the in house chili sauce they provided to increase the spice. everything tasted fresh and delicious. pricing is fair and the edamame was so yummy as an appetizer too. service was a bit slow to take our order but the food came out fast. would recommend and will definitely come back to try out drinks and sushi!

March 2023:Came to Sacramento for the March Madness basketball games! Craved some good sushi and this place looked good.Ordered the sake toro, hamachi, hamachi toro, king salmon, saba, and yasai roll. Everything was pretty good. Most of the fish was tasty.Beer selection was very unique. I tried a Onibi hazy pale ale that was excellent 👍.

Decent japanese fusion food. HH is more affordable otherwise it’s quite expensive, even for lunch. it adds up bc the portions are small. scallops nigiri were good, clams were our favorite with really good sauce, fried smelt was also good. black garlic tonkotsu ramen was disappointing bc the noodles were not al dente/chewy. the broth had a strong bamboo flavor. maybe other ramen soups are better? outdoor seating would be nice if they have it…would come back to try other dishes like the bone marrow uni…

Amazing BBQ salmon, mushroom capaciously, and did I mention those noodle soups? The noodle soups are on the saltier side for those who enjoy flavor but you can ask them to make it less salty. The portion size for noodles are huge!Love this place. If packing was easier, it will be my cafeteria!

So good. Good food. Good service. Good drinks. Its a treat though. For having such a broad selection of food, they execute it really well. We had the mushroom truffle fries which were light fluffy although a lil oily, torched scallops to die for, fried tofu, oxtail ramen that made me so so happy, Kansai roll, bone marrow, and matcha creme brulee. Everything on point. I would not have expected such a delightful creme brulee but it was amazing

Daniel I told is the owner of restaurant violated our ADA rights today by denying our service animal. He said our service dog is behaving badly because he wasnt sitting or in a laying position. I told him I can put him in a sitting position. Daniel said no sorry we can not eat there.He will violate your ada rights which is a civil rights violation and he can be sued. Beware!

What a hidden gem ! We loved everything we ordered, especially the okonomiyaki! One was not enough so we ordered a second one ! Unlike the usual soggy okonomiyaki, it’s pan fried so it has a nice crispy crust on the outside. We will definitely come back for this dish.

I saw this place and wanted to try it. Finally did and OMG! Everything was good! The salmon and chicken could use a little more seasoning, but if you eat it with what they come with its still bussin! I ordered the Chicken Shio Ramen and the presentation was just like the photo. The broth, amazing, it has a little kick to it but...yum! The egg is marinated and delicious, and the bamboo!!!! 🤤 o and lets not forget the bomb salad dressing!!!! Yall, just go and try it out. The service was great! Nikki was amazing! Super attentive and sweet! 10 out of 10 would recommend.

The person Im with said this is possibly the best Japanese food theyve ever had. Theyre playing Drake in here which I feel ambivalent about. Im connected to some free WiFi, dont know whose it is but I dont think its the restaurants. They put lemons in the water here so Im giving a solid five stars. I’m not Japanese but I am somewhat familiar with Japanese food after living a few years there. I was drawn in by the $6 lunch ramen special on weekdays.I got the shoyu ramen (without meat). The egg was great and noodles a good texture but I was very confused seeing broccoli and the uncooked cabbage in the ramen. Broccoli is not in any Japanese ramen and you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who looks forward to broccoli in their ramen. The uncooked cabbage is traditionally with rice plates, topped with a sesame dressing. It does not belong in ramen. It was crunchy and everywhere in my soup. It was not enjoyable.The most popular ramen shop in Sacramento, Raijin, cooks their cabbage and veggies to be soft and I recommend this place do the same.Despite these shortcomings, it was worth the $6 and I have yet to try other things to improve my review.

Underwhelming.I went in for lunch and the first thing I smelled was Lysol. Like someone had just deep cleaned the place. Not what I want to smell throughout my meal.I got the bento box with sesame chicken and tempura. The breading on the sesame chicken was coming off and it was doused in sauce. It wasn’t appetizing. The tempura batter had an odd taste to it. For one it wasn’t seasoned, but it also tasted like older oil was used. They did a tempura mushroom which was a first for me, so that was a plus. But there was no broccoli or zucchini; something I’m accustomed to. The salad and rice were fine; but that’s hard to mess up.For $16 + tax, tip, I doubt I’ll return. The price simply doesn’t justify the quality.

I work for a company that provides equipment to the wine industry and get to spend a week in this part of Cali every year, visiting customers and doing a trade show. We stumbled across this place in 2022, and -had- to go back again this year.Sushi is excellent, ramen is very good, and the service is attentive and helpful.Both this year and last, Takumi was tied for best meal we had all week.

Was sat down and water with menu was brought to us. 10 minutes later another table came in and was seated next to us. Us being ready to order placed the menus down and waited (made eye contact with servers and the person that sat us down). 5 minutes later the table that was seated 10 minutes after us gets asked if there ready to order. There being 4 servers walking around and only 5 tables with customers. The fact that they took the order of the new table before a table that has been waiting was rude.

Hey, so Ill change my review if you change your menu.Food was delicious Miso Ramen, great soup base, good flavor profile on toppings.However, the menu needs to specify vegan items and non vegan items. You already have vegan options that you are not advertising as vegan, thats just bad business. Yasai Roll, Oyster Mushroom Carpaccio? Tofu Mushroom Soup? Why is this complicated just put a v next to it. Ordered a Yasai Roll and it came with mayo on top, asked to take the mayo off, yall took the roll and charged us for a second one. I mean cmon guys. Foods good, place looks nice, but this is needlessly complicated. Theres enough vegans now just accommodate please.

Takumi has a nice atmosphere and the wait staff is super nice but the food is mediocre at best. We had yakitori, karaage and sushi rolls and it was just OK. Nothing really to write home about. Parking in downtown Sacramento is a huge pain so we probably wont be going back any time soon.

The Tonkotsu ramen is pretty good, very thick broth with thin noodles. The pork is savory and delicious. The egg is disgusting, overly sweet and more like hard boiled.The tantanmen was very tasty outside of the similarly disgusting egg. Also thick broth but with a good kick and yummy ground pork.The gyoza is ridiculously good.

Good customer service. Our waiter was welcoming and nice. My parents had questions about the food since we only eat halal. The waitress was patient and friendly. Once we received the food I would say the seared salmon was yum. For the price the rolls were decent size, but there are other places 50% off for the same amount and as good. The atmosphere is ok. Wasnt as lively as I expected. But, I would definitely come back for the seared salmon!

A good hint that a table needed to place an order is probably the presence of the menus on the table and the absence of dirty dishes. Too bad. We went to Takumi Izakaya on Friday night for the first time. We were in search of a new sushi spot in town and we were not disappointed. This place has amazing food, fun atmosphere and exceptional customer service. We had some dishes from both the sushi bar and the kitchen (even the chefs special) and everything was delicious, creative and affordable. Totally got lucky landing here while actually searching for a different restaurant that ended up being closed. So I saw the ramen sign and decided to try it out. I mean, it WAS raining and cold that day so a bowl of ramen sounded very enticing! Not too crowded when I was there for a late lunch so service was friendly and fast! I ordered the Black Garlic Tonkotsu and a Japanese old fashioned from the bar. For me, the best thing about ramen is the broth and the noodles. Everything else is just icing on the cake to make it even better but I would be satisfied with just a good bowl of noodles and broth. Saying that to say, I cant speak on the ramen egg because I did not eat it. But it surely looked like a proper, well seasoned ramen egg that a lot of people love. The noodles were cooked perfectly with just enough chew and the broth was fantastic. No complaints either on my old fashioned made with Japanese whiskey. It was an awesome way to warm up on that cold and rainy day. I will definitely be back.

Went to Takumis to celebrate my spouses return from a long work trip. The serving staff was prompt and amazing as our hot tea and drinks were always full. The food was the best Japanese I have eaten in a very long time. The resturant has a variety from small plates to large meals and the most amazing flavor combinations ever. I have eaten here twice and both times the food has been outstanding. Presentation, taste, and imagination has been nothing short of wonderful. I am only giving them a 3 because I ate there last night and it was fabulous, but tonight I did Door-Dash, and the exact same things we ordered last night that were near perfection, were substandard via doordash. And just to be fair, my order was delivered at 5:20 on a Saturday night, and they open at 5pm on Saturday. So it was not due to being overly busy, or the wait time to get the order. It arrived hot, and perfectly cooked, just extremely substandard to what was served in the restaurant. The porkbelly skewers were pathetic, and had half the serving that the same order last night had. The edamame was barely seasoned and looked horrendous, where as last night it was a beautiful shade of green and very tasty. Last night it was one of the first things to arrive and we did not finish it, so it was the last to leave and all during that time it looked entirely edible. Not so with what was sent via Door dash.. If you dont want to do door dash, then dont. But do not send sub standard fare just because I did not eat at your restaurant.

I went there with my gf on Friday; I got the spicy ramen and she got the seared salmon. The ramen was pretty true to its name, but it was tasty. Oh and we got an appetizer too, pan fried dumplings, and they were ok, not great but not bad. The seared salmon tasted like the chef dumped a bottle of salt on it, so it wasnt all that, and the vegetable medley that came with it looked EXACTLY like what you find in the frozen food aisle, and ther portion they gave was smaller than a handful. 10/10 recommend that dish only if youre 10 and like fish jerky.

This is hands down, by far, the best sushi joint in all of Sac. Prices might be a little high, but the quality destroys all the competition. The Izakaya roll is my favorite. There are also other dishes like Ramen and some main Entrees too. Another favorite of mine is the Uni Carbonara. If you need a fun spot for date night, or just a chill places to get drinks, come here!!

Ive been here before for lunch and had the bento box and that was good as well but I cant remember what I had. I keep forgetting about this gem when I crave sushi but not again. I will come here everytime I crave for sushi or bento box especially since its walking distance from work. They are fast and friendly too.

If I had won the powerball I would love to order here every day. Im obsessed with the uni carbonara. It is silky, buttery perfection. The ankimo is rich, the texture is creamy, the seasoning and dipping sauce are delicious. I was a little nervous about the miso clams because of a recent bad, gritty experience at a different restaurant, but this was night and day. The flavor is incredible, the clams are tender, and dipping the bread into that beautiful miso butter broth and taking a bite gave me chills. Lets talk about the snow crab. Its pricey. Once you see it and take a bite, youll understand why. Thank you for one of the best meals of my life.

Good option for sushi in the downtown/K Street area. Chef knows what theyre doing for nigiri, and despite being someone who likes to try all sorts of different whacky rolls, it was refreshing to see a limited roll menu. Some places overwhelm with huge numbers of rolls with one minor different between them, and this isnt one of them.

I Visited this place back in June 2019. My Bill total was around $40. After few months, when i was reviewing my credit card transaction, i noticed they charged me close to $90. I wish i had kept a copy of my receipt. Beware of this restaurant overcharging you.

Any order from the sushi bar was amazing. The waitress was great. Anything from the kitchen was horrible. Ordered beef teriyaki. It was cold. All they did was reheat it instead of making it new. I will only come back for the sushi.

Place has terrible service and the place only had two tables and one person at the sushi bar besides me. This is the second time I’ve walked out on this place. Second time is not the charm. And looking at the dark colored sushi i was disgusted. Who eats at this place. There is a why they do yakatori and itakayaki (sorry if I misspelled) the reason is they can’t do regular sushi or sashimi cuz all the fish is old and gross. Did I mention terrible service as well. Like no greeting whatsoever? Do yourselves a favor and go to Mikuni’s.

1st visit review - Friendly staff. Definitely should try all their skewers/yaki. Nigiri and sashimi are fresh except for the uni. Not the best grade sashimi but decent for Sacramento.2nd visit review - yakitori consistent. limited selection of japanese import beers, a very nice change to alot of sushi restaurant selling the same old asahi and kirin stuff. I would stay away from sashimi....Period. we ordered a sashimi platter and had to request server to remove it because of the weird color and texture. sushi chef came out to explain their sashimi curing process. My thought on sashimi is that they are flash frozened and not treated with sake, sugar and salt to kill parasites. that tells us those are not sashimi grade fish.

The food was great! They only lose a star because the service wasnt great. They definitely need to give the waitresses math lessons because they gave the wrong amount of change and only partially corrected it when we pointed out their mistake.
