Talay Thai Restaurant in Rancho Mirage

A bit pricey for Thai food, but good food.Stated out with the Tom Kha Soup; it was ok. It needed maybe lemongrass, bamboo shoots, or something to add some flavor. The chicken in it was ok. The baby carrots were a little strange for this soup.My main dish was the Pad Thai (with chicken). Now this dish was very delicious. The chicken in this dish was tender and had plenty of flavor from the sauce. The noodles were cooked perfectly and I loved the fresh bean sprouts, carrots and crushed peanuts.I had their Thai Iced-Tea with my meal and it didnt disappoint. It was rich and creamy while not being too sweet.The service was pretty good as well.The atmosphere was ok; a little plain but clean.

The food is very flavorful and they always get the spicy level just right. I even have up to 5 spicy and it was delicious because the flavor is not lost. I order Thai a lot from many restaurants in Coachella Valley. Talay Thai is ONE OF THE BEST. Im from Orange county and have had Thai home cooking. I would bring my Thai friends here. I only wish they had sticky rice and mango all year round🥭

Really great customer service! Food was spot on and I loved the tofu eggplant and mango sticky rice (sampler size). Will be returning very soon!

Best Thai food Ive had in the area so far. The service wasnt that great, but we were expecting that going in. The server was friendly, but never checked on us. The food definately made up for it.

So I’ve tried every Thai restaurant in The Coachella Valley and THIS is the spot! The flavor of the trio sauce for the Pad Sam Rod is unmatched. The panang curry and the pad Thai are amazing. For anyone who likes real flavor and a clean restaurant with kind staff this is for you. If you really like spicy then ask for a 4 and above, a 2-3 is also enjoyable but not too spicy.

This is a little hole in the wall style Thai place. We came here for a late lunch and the restaurant was basically empty. We grabbed some soju cocktails - the Bangkok Lover and the Thai Arnold Palmer. They were pretty expensive and had pre mixed cocktail mix in them. I probably would have gone for an Asian beer instead because they had a good variety. My partner did not enjoy the Arnold Palmer and did not finish it. There weren’t many staff around so our server also made the drinks and the service was pretty slow. For appetizers we started with the Thai dumplings which were pretty good. We then had the Pad Se-Ew and the Talay special seafood dish. The Pad Se-Ew was authentic and delicious. The Talay special seafood dish however was quite underwhelming and was poorly presented (stew in tin-foil). It was packed with seafood however the sauce was not very tasty and it was $30. The portions were very large so an appetizer and two entrees was more than enough for the two of us. We did not have room for dessert. Overall I would not recommend this place. Hole in the wall Thai food should be authentic, tasty and fairly cheap and this, for the most part, did not check those boxes.

We love this place! Talay Thai is our go-to place for Thai food in the valley. They never fail to amaze us and the quantities are very large. Kai is the best server ever! Two thumbs up!

My first lunch experience:-Service was very good. - atmosphere was pleasant.. The food was unremarkable. Pad Thai noodles were just not good. Fried rice w/vegetables was steamed rice with vegetables?Very bland. The Kirin beer was perfect lol. I’m a cook and I know my way around a kitchen. It was disappointing. Sadly many reviews are written by people who don’t even know the difference between great food VS mediocre food.

Authentic Thai cuisine with five star service. Aroydee! Elegantly presented dishes worthy of Michelin rating. Unexpected find for the Desert. The Haw Mok Talay is a must try if you enjoy seafood. This specialty takes 25 minutes so order ahead. Appetizers are taste worthy also. Soju and Thai beer complements each dish. Finish with Mango Sticky Rice in special Butterfly Pea sauce.

Best Thai food I have tasted in the area by far! Great service too. We will definitely be back.
