I ordered tandoori chicken from this restaurant. They gave me old chicken, it looks not fresh. Bell peppers were uncooked. and owner refused to accept mistake. Instead told me throw in garbage. Told me he doesnt care if i dont come back. Horrible service.

None of us liked our food at this place.Lets start off with the fish pakoras. I recently read a review that the fish pakoras at this place are the best. I found them amongst one of the worst. The batter on the pakoras was very dark in colour and there was far more batter than fish. I felt as if they had been refried. I had 2 peices and left the rest. It would be better if you didnt use food colouring and kept the batter light and golden in colour with a dusting of ajwain.The Shish kebabs were very dry and the portion size was very small.The Shahi paneer was lacking one key ingredient - chunks of paneer. It was almost as if the paneer had been minced for another dish and repurposed for the Shahi paneer dish.The sholay-pooria were not very good. The pooria came out with a very wet texture and the Sholay seemed under cooked. Im thinking it was a tinned chickpeas just coated in a curry base.The chicken tikka was not the best. I think I could get a microwave meal from the local supermarket that would taste better.In all the dishes I found the spice to be excessive. Im used to eating spicy food but this was too much for me to handle.The garlic naan and rice were decent.

Sorry no pics! Only ordered garlic Naan bread, and plain. Called in the order, and it was ready as promised in the estimated time. Very delicous, soft, and well portioned. Definitely going back to try some food on the menu.

The flavor of the food here is DELICIOUS.Completely took me by surprise because it isn’t near any other restaurants so it seems quiet.And coming from NYC where Indian cuisine is STRONG and very popular and quality - this place is the real deal.Ingredients and spices are FRESH and quantity and quality is superb.So delicious, so worth it, and is now our dependable go to Indian spot.Very much recommend.Thank you Tandoor Indian Restaurant!!

Do I have to even give one star? Awful food. Awful service. Being an Indian who has traveled the world and tried indian restaurants everywhere, never have I ever had such a terrible experience before. Every dish was so spicy.. it was not even eatable. Even the normally mild butter chicken was so spicy that even I as an adult couldnt have it, let alone my 5 year old son. They also packed palak paneer instead of the palak murg we ordered. The supermarkets were closed as we had arrived from LA late in the evening, and we had no alternatives.So I requested them to replace the spicy dish with a milder version or just make the version they had given us milder. But they plainly refused to do either.The food went straight into trash can. Shame on the restaurant manager for having zero empathy. I have come across American and Mexican restaurants that have been more understanding and customer friendly. Shocked and enraged at this lack of compassion from fellow Indians abroad. Never again during my current or future visits would I order with them.

Delicious Indian food, selection is smaller than Favorite Indian, but I like it better. To me, food and chai (included with the buffet) is better flavored here, and a little spicier.Update 3/10/23: Took a simple, late lunch of chicken curry and naan, and chai. Food is still very good, spiced perfectly, with a generous portion of chicken breast. Naan was heated and crisp on the outside, as it should be. Chai could have used a little more milk, but good. Service continues to be accommodating at this restaurant.

Ive been buying fish pakoras from here for two years now and they increased their prices by almost 50% recently. The portion sizes also varied every time I got them which I didnt find fair. The pakoras are good but not worth it for the price.

Fried fish is their speciality. Overall food quality is good. Quiet spicy and authentic North Indian. Service is decent. Cleanliness could be a bit better. Decent parking (not a lot though). There is brunch every day they are open but I dont like that. Food feels a bit stale. It is better to order what you want to eat. It is not very pricey.

My boss took me and a co-worker out for lunch, it was my first time here. It is small but clean and the staff was friendly. The buffet was good and they had signs to help me know what I was selecting. Loved the curry chicken, I should have had seconds but I talked too much. Will go back for another meal soon.

Ive been going here for a few years. Great Indian food--my favorite in the Bay Area. Fish pakoras are a spicy treat (and their specialty.) Nan is always fresh and hot. Ive never had a bad dish. Staff is attentive too. Like others have mentioned, ignore the humble decor & go for the food.

Everything about this place is fabulous. Dont let the outside deceive you! The cuisine coming out of the kitchen is fabulous! You can always tell a good restaurant when it attracts ethnically diverse customers. They are able to cater spice level to taste and the owners are VERY kind. A very welcoming restaurant!

I saw that this restaurant was reviewed favorably from a lot of reviewers, and since I love Indian food, I decided to try it out.Service was okay, and food was okay. What was not okay was long after my experience. I was suffering from major stomach pains and ended up visiting the bathroom several times that night. Later reviews Ive read experienced similar. I even remember seeing one of the servers ladling some sauce from in the sink. i do hope that the sauce was in the sink and in a bucket or container--that is clean.Maybe the restaurant needs some sanitation done.

Terrible service. We had the young server with the glasses, Beard and chipped tooth. Great butter chicken & naan. Goat curry was very very gamey. Our server never once asked how it was & he forgot to put our appetizer in which was good but it took 30-40 minutes to get a appetizer. My buddy had to go GRAB the water pitcher to fill my drink.... won’t come back

Worst customer Service and serves old food.I placed an online order and the Tandoori chicken was smelling unpleasant and happened to take it back to the restaurant.They were very rude to us and told us that maybe we are eating this for the first time.Another customer who was listening to the conversation, came to us and told us that it happened to her as well few months back and they responded the same way. She was served tandoori chicken which was hot outside and ice cold inside, which clearly means it was old and refrigerated.Very disappointed .

Hello. My friend and I have been coming here off and on for several years to the point we didnt have to tell the waiter what we wanted! Though we havent been there in awhile we noticed that a couple of Ladies were working, we thought maybe a change in hands but saw the same gentleman sitting in his usual spot. The waitress was new (which she told us) and did make slight errors by not tending to our table, but I was not anoyed by the least. I always give new employees some slack since we make mistakes when we start a new job. The food never disappoints neither the service. Yes, its not a fancy building...and maybe not to impress your first date...but its good and they have always been friendly to use. Thank you.

I used to go to Moon Indian Cuisine and Favorite Indian. After having my first dine inn buffet here at Tandoor Indian this is hands down the best. Best Indian food Ive had. Very friendly and very clean. I will have lunch there once a week now.

I am food blogger and an Indian chef, I recently ordered one chicken tikka from this restaurant first of all that was not a chicken tikka that was a hot yogurt with spices smells really bad chicken was flavorless never had such a bad experience. I called them and went back to show them the curry and they denied to take it back and said we cook like this only! Whole staff was rude and unprofessional please dont waste your money even the cook doesnt know how to cook indian food when I asked few questions and they dont serve fresh food for sure.

I usually give second chance before writing a negative comment but this just had me I ordered CTM last time for pick up and whem i came back home and tasted it was off. I called back and explained and the lady on the phone asked did u eat it? Ofc i had a spoon Thats how i know it was bad. She said ok bring it back will see how much u ate!! Excuse me i expect an apology n ur telling me this. My husband took it back full as it was. The owner was rude n drunk and kept saying his food is the best and if we dont like it we should step outside. Wow!! Hats off to ur customer service.. Anyhow we got the refund but it was not worth two trips and tasting the bad food being pregnant. Definitely never coming back. And do something about the quality of ur food n customer service if u want to survive. And yes!!!! Stop drinking while on job.

Great food. We had the lamb in curry and the palak paneer. Best lamb Curry Ive ever had and best palak paneer my wife has ever had. Just another example of how Food in San Francisco is incredible. They were kind enough to service late and tolerate us being there late. Gave him a nice tip.

I have been going to eat fish pakoda here since 2006. The lightly battered fish is spicy and delicious especially with the grated radish and mint chutney. Several Indian beers are available. The setting is not the greatest but the completely glass fronted and sided space brings a feeling of space. Parking is limited but usually adequate. The lunch buffet is popular as it is good and costs less than $10. The food ouher than the fish pakoda is OK.

Read the reviews, learned about the famous fish pakora. We looked at the extensive menu and remembered to order them. SIMPLY WONDERFUL, they.We also ordered the Bhindi Masala - excellently done... not overcooked, not over-dry, not over-spicy, but essentially amongst the best Ive tasted in this long life. Also, the Chicken Korma... another classic. Creamy Korma sauce, delightfully loaded with chicken chunks.The Naan was piping hot, crispy on outside, chewy on inside. Having learned my Indian table manners, I ate entirely without touching the silverware... just with pads of Naan... It felt like college days.The waiter was great, explained everything. The place is not fancy-looking, but it isnt a hole in the wall either.THANK YOU, Tandoor Restaurant. Quite good for a first-time experience!(PS: Ignore the negative reviews of Sundeep and Kwesi... Sundeep is a student expecting Indian-in-India prices, and Kwesi is just being a troll. One of my favorite Indian restaurants. I live in Modesto and drove all the way out to Hayward for my birthday meal. The owner Surinder is usually there and sees to it that the customer service is being takin care of, hes a wonderful man and knows his business. Ordered paneer tikka and punjaabi daal. Taste was really good. Tawa roti was drenched with butter. Some people may like that. The waiter forgot a dish, I had to remind him...no apologies from him.While food can be rated good, hygiene standard is a big turn off. The dining hall is clumsy. Carpet is probably never cleaned in 2-3 yrs. Better I dont write about restroom. Will never visit again, nor recommend.

Pretty flavorful dishes for their lunch buffet which is a decent value. Fresh naan is served hot. There is a good variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes on their menu and the buffet. The flavors of their dishes are taken to the next level if you order them ala carte.Update for experience on 2018/05/23: The lunch buffet food is in a different physical arrangement with larger trays. The flavors seem a bit milder than before. I asked for 2 pieces of naan, but was given 4, the default if you dont specify. The chai now seems unsweetened which is a plus for me. Also, it is unfortunate to be charged extra to have rice as a replacement for the naan that comes with 2 to-go entrees (opting for not having naan to lower my gluten intake didnt deduct anything from my order). While the rice was delicious, entrees used to come with a choice of rice or naan.

I was trying to make a delivery for Doordash and entered their restaurant to find a line of 5-10 people waiting for their food at the pickup line. That was the first red flag. I asked the man about my order and gave him the name of my order. Usually, when I do this, the person at the counter looks up the order and gives me their order, because by the time I get there, the order should already be ready. The man, who was wearing PAJAMAS, seemed to not care about my order at all, said 10 minutes. So, I waited 10 minutes, thinking that they were making it. I waited a total of 30 minutes before asking the guy again if my order was ready. When they said it wasnt, I knew something was up. I called a Doordash representative and they called the restaurant, only to find out they THEY DIDNT EVEN START THE ORDER YET. Then, when I asked them how long the order was going to take, they told me 10 minutes. Then, they asked me to list out their order, because THEIR DOORDASH APP WASNT WORKING. WHY DIDNT YOU TELL ME THAT THE APP WASNT WORKING IN THE FIRST PLACE SO WE COULD HAVE RESOLVED THIS PROBLEM EARLIER?!?! This place has absolutely no decency and respect for their customers. I would not suggest coming to this disgusting place where the server WEARS PAJAMAS.

Me and my boyfriend kept looking for a good inexpensive indian restaurant. This is so far the best one .... the taste is good the tilka masala is fantastic ... the chicken is good .. although the place is not as cozy and classy like the other ones i still Prefer eating here.. the staffs are nice the foods are great and The price... 👌 Its perfect...!! Local gem in Hayward. The location and interior are unassuming but the food is surprisingly good. Plain naan comes with every entree order. My favorites are the fish pakora, butter chicken, and paneer tikka masala. Great mango lassi and chai too.
