I would have to say this is a MUST to visit if you’re dining out in LA.We stopped in after a company Christmas party that ended too early.Atmosphere: 10/10Just beautiful! The decor is beyond expectations. From the intricate dragons encircling the pillars, to the breathtaking Avalokiteshvara statue, your eyes will not be disappointed. The ambiance is perfect for a date night, very dimmed lighting )so if you have issues seeing be prepared to use your phone light to see).Service: 5/10It was pretty busy but not enough to excuse how little we saw the girl tending to the bar/lounge area. We waited quite awhile for drinks and the sushi we ordered. It was a bit easier and quicker to just order drinks directly from the bar.Food: 9/10We only tried the rainbow sushi to be fair (we ate before we went) but the rest of the food we saw looked phenomenal. The rainbow sushi hit the spot and was made very well. I may be wrong but the quality wasn’t the best. It was decent but not the quality I was expecting from the establishment.

This restaurant is a must if you visit Los Angeles - Hollywood. The food is outstanding and the service could not be better. The cocktails and virgin cocktails we had were great as well as our starters.The portions are huge so the prices are more than fair.It‘s also one of the most beautiful restaurants we have been to yet. The statues and lightning inside are spectacular. 5 stars for everything, food, service and ambiente.

Great food & drinks, superb service staff & fabulous ambiance. The women at the front reception were not very good. Reservations were made, we were on time, they said it would be a couple of minutes and we waited 20-30 minutes. We will return simply because everything was great except the women receptionist.

Loved my first experience at Tao. Hidden gem right here in Hollywood. Such an original look for a restaurant/lounge. Vibes were cool. Excellent taste on everything we had. Ordered different small bites to get a variety of what was offered from Satays, Gyoza, tempura to the fried rice and dessert was delicious. My fave was the bread pudding donuts with brandy ice cream. Took home their chocolate Buddha gift box. Servers were friendly and professional. Did not have reservations but was able to hang in the lounge area. Will come back.

Sexy & Stunning are the two best words I could utilize to describe my experience at TAO. For starters, Trey as our waiter, couldn’t have provided more stellar service! Give this man some praise! While the restaurant guests continued to flow through the room, Trey was diligent and consistently asked if we needed anything. He made sure to inform us on the best menu items, all while keeping a lovely smile on his face. The food 10/10, I wouldn’t have changed a thing! It’s amazing how much superlative service and mouthwatering food can do to a guests experience. Even though my mother-in-law and I were full, we still wanted some to go!I would highly recommend for anyone to make a reservation here. High quality food in a very elegant place! This would be enough to describe. We were there for dinner on a Sunday evening (booked the day before). Our table was in the bottom part, in front of the big statue dominating the hall. We ordered the 2 soups in the menu (I had the miso one, very special with some seafood in), pad tai noodles with chicken and the chef’s choice for the sushi. All was top served, tasty and delicious. Highly recommended! 4 to the service is only because I hate getting continuously bothered by personnel refilling my glass of water.

Tao Restaurant gave me a surreal experience 5 years ago, with its swanky decor, stadium-style seating, and that awe-inspiring multi-handed Buddha overseeing it all. While the food was just decent, the ambiance and Buddhas presence made me want to come back for more.

We were really glad to have discovered TAO Asian Bistro with a reservation ahead of seeing a show nearby. Upscale asian food can be hit or miss and this was definitely a hit.We loved the cavernous space they built which felt like an old converted theater, especially as we descended to the main part of the dining room, but it was, apparently, completely created for this restaurant. The feel inside is tremendous with goddesses looking down over you throughout dinner...even entering is an experience with an impressive front door and another goddess greeting you as soon as you walk in.We loved the food too. Were vegetarians which usually isnt an issue at an asian restaurant (and it wasnt here) and we felt like first class eating citizens with the delicious food they brought, including Olive Fried Rice...what a great unique taste to a classic asian dish!The steamed bok choy also had a lot of flavor.The vegetable egg rolls looked great and tasted just okay.I also enjoyed the Okinowa Old Fashioned made with Japanese whiskey and black sugar!There are a number of other vegetarian things to choose from including tempura, other rice dishes, noodles, sides and sushi so youll really have plenty to choose from here if thats your diet, and all of it (at least what we saw) looked elevated and luxurious.We dont live close but see this as a good destination restaurant on its own and its perfectly situation to enjoy whatever Hollywood has to offer.

Went there with family for my father’s 70th birthday celebration (also was my 1st time in LA). Really cool atmosphere with a trendy crowd.Food was Asian fusion and tasty. Be aware that some appetizer plates are quite expensive for just one small piece of meat (but that’s to be expected at this level of restaurant).Overall father had a great birthday experience and we enjoyed a great meal with a high quality of service. This is a good place to go for an exclusive experience.

Came here for a late dinner on a Saturday night. All of the staff gave great service. Definitely make a reservation, otherwise you might not get a table. The bar is right there once you walk in. For drinks, I had an old fashioned, while my wife had the cucumber buck with tequila. We then had the pan fried chicken gyoza & the pork potstickers. Both were really good. Then I had the bbq duck fried rice, which had great flavor. My wife had the honey glazed salmon, which she said was okay, but couldve used more honey glaze. Our server Jenna was wonderful and took great care of us. Definitely come of you want some quality Asain food in Hollywood. The bar area was buzzing as well, so plan accordingly.

I came by last night with my date, and from the moment we pulled up, we were greeted by valet. Once they took our car, they had a professional security team greet us and opened the nice huge doors to the restaurant. We were instructed to check in with the host team and they were quick and professional as well. Once seated, we were helped by a server named Jessica, who helped us throughout the night. Jessica was very attentive and provided us with superior customer service, she definitely went above and beyond. A short time after we had Alfredo come to our table and he too was very helpful, he definitely looked out for us. Thank you TAO for making my date night one for the books.

This is probably one of the best sushi spots with the most visually stunning interiors I’ve ever seen.For sushi I ordered the toro fatty tuna, uni, & sweet shrimp. For the entree I chose the Branzino & Hong Kong noodles & finished it all off with the donuts with ice cream. Overall, all the dishes and meals were outstanding. The sushi was high quality and fresh. The Branzino was probably the best I’ve ever had so far and the noodles were delicious. The dessert was also really good and was a great finish to an excellent dining experience.I’d definitely come back again and try their other menu items. Shoutout to the bartender Josh who guided us with our food choices and took care of us at the bar area, excellent customer service.

Loved these plays. The food was delicious. Especially Pork Potstickers and Miso Roasted Black Cod. From cocktails I would recommend Mango Chili Martini. The best cocktail I’ve tried. The only thing I didn’t like is that there were too many waiters for one table. It’s a little bit confusing and uncomfortable when a new person comes up every time.

I have been to Tao in las Vegas so I wanted to see if Hollywood gave me the same experience. I will say the atmosphere is amazing. The music is loud enough for you to enjoy it but quiet enough for you to have a conversation across the table with your friends and not have to yell. The service was sketchy at times which is why I only gave the restaurant 4 stars. The food was amazing. I had the fried snapper which is more like snapper nuggets tucked inside the body of the fish (the presentation is amazing). I also had the lobster fried rice which was really good and had enough lobster for me not to complain. The Brussels were disappointing. I expected crispy (even asked them to make them crispier) and they were still pretty soggy and hard to chew. The drinks were really good also.I would recommend you at least try this place out. Make a reservation because every table was full and you shouldnt be disappointed.

Oh my the service when I was in there took forever like half an hour and when we got out table we waited even longer. When we got out food it was good I did see pink on my steak when I said well done. They took so long whenever we said to get something. When we paid for it the server just wanted to walk away when I activated my card to pay. Even the manager did not care to help us the only thing good here was the food and the top part of the building did better service than the bottom.

What an incredible space! The restaurant is extravagantly Asian themed, with giant Buddha statues and an interesting seating arrangement.We were seated on the large steps and were facing what seemed like a huge stage with a water feature.The food was good, avocado tempura was a bit soggy but other than that it was delicious. TL:DR - overpriced, poor quality food with bad service and experienceThe full review:We dined at Tao this past weekend. It was my third time at this location. I hadn’t been in years as my first two experiences were very poor, but I figured I’d try it again as I love the New York and Vegas outposts.Showed up with the full party right at 8:15 (the time of our reservation). We were given a buzzer and told to wait in the lounge. At 8:32, I went back over to the hostess stand and was told that they were overbooked. Mind you, if you don’t show up within 15 minutes of your reservation, they cancel it and charge you $25 per person. Funny how that only goes one way…At nearly 8:40, someone came over to take us to our table. As we walked towards our spot, we saw at least 15 open tables at the restaurant…After sitting down, we ordered relatively quickly. Our food then took over an hour to arrive… despite tables around us (all of whom were seated after us) receiving their food before us.Two of the items we ordered were not even put in either, so we got to wait additional time for those.To top it all off, the food itself was simply not good. Due to a dairy allergy, we had to remove the sauce from one of our chicken dishes. The chicken looked and tasted like frozen chicken from the grocery store (and it was not white meat, which is something I do appreciate at the other Tao locations).The waitress was nice enough and apologetic about our experience, but the manager did not come over and nothing was comped, which is something that fine dining establishments (and frankly most restaurants in the US) will do when they muck things up. Nearly $400 for dinner (no alcohol) and everyone had to actually eat when we got home.Finally, for what it’s worth... This is LA. Ditch the dress code. We were told on the phone they enforce their no shorts policy as it’s a “fine dining restaurant”. I have not once been told not to wear shorts in LA (at any 5* or Michelin* restaurant), whether they are tailored or basketball.

I went to Tao for my birthday dinner celebration with my family and had a WONDERFUL time. If youve never been to any Tao location youre in for quite a surprise when you walk in and see how large and gorgeous the restaurant is. Its decor is absolutely stunning. I requested a booth because loved the look of it with the lights overhead and was accommodated with no issue. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful and really made out meal even better because she was so kind and funny. All of the food was delectable; I especially enjoyed all of the dim sum options. My family is full of people with different tastes and there was something we each loved and enjoyed all of it. My parents had also arranged with the restaurant to bring me a giant birthday platter with a huge fortune cookie to celebrate and it was all delicious and fantastic. I dont want to spoil anything but make sure you read your fortune from your cookie in the end! I really loved Tao and Ill be back to this one and the one in NYC soon!

How’s it ok for restaurants to keep customers waiting for so long, when they would cancel reservations with a charge if customer shows up even 15 minutes late?Every time I asked, the person at the reception gave me different BS excuses, finally after speaking to the manager we were seated swiftly.I liked the overall layout, the decor and the ambiance of the restaurant. They have a unique set up with the bar on top then you walk down the stairs to your seating area which could be in the center between the 2 stairs with a straight view of their huge Buddha statue, the nestled couches on the side of the stairs, or regular tables down at the bottom of the stairs.Lychee Martini ($20): Not the best one we had. Would skip it here.Tuna Pringles ($24): The pringles come in 3 so we paid $8 for an extra Pringle. They were really good and different so I recommend trying them at least once.Chicken Siu Mai ($20): These were good but if you want really good savory siu Mai, go to a dim sum restaurant.Shrimp Har Gow ($22): The shrimps were plumped so they might have used medium/large shrimps. However, I wasnt a fan of these but my husband loves shrimp and liked the har gow more than the siu mai.Black Cod ($48): It was not that good and kinda fishy.Black Pepper Chicken ($36): This was recommended and one of the best dishes of the night. The chicken was nice and crunchy. The sauce was on point. The leftover wasnt as good so I would prioritize eating this dish if you ordered too much.King Crab Nigiri ($16): The king crab wasnt as sweet as I would have liked it to be.

Service and over-priced is the reason for 3 stars. Food and ambience were great, atmosphere of large concert-hall with good vibe music and large animated Buda statue. Most plates were special (orange chicken and rice tuna tartar were just OK). Some plates were simply over priced for what you get, while others were definitley worth it.Service felt very pushy as if dying to get us out (despite us spending way above the average). We ordered 7 plates for 3 people right off the bat, and drinks, but as soon as we were done with the dishes - not a minute went by - the waitress would come ask what else do we want, or do we want the dessert menu. Every minute. And when we told her we were just enjoying the drinks before we start the next course, she didnt show up again. Maybe its her first week or something, but for an average of over $100 per person the service should be much much better.

I was here on my first night in Los Angelas and had the best time. We were served by Fernando and he was absolutely fantastic. He was attentive, helpful and just very friendly. He guided us through the menu and recommended us some plates which were 10/10. The service overall was very fast and efficient. The portions were very sizeable which was great! Dining here is an experience from the grand front entrance and lounge area to the tiered seating. We had a dinner reservation and were seated near the giant fountain sculpture. The servers worked well together and were quick and friendly. My favourite order was the poke tacos. It came with three pieces. The fish had a nice light sesame flavour and the taco shells had the most satisfying crunch. The lobster wontons came in a dark umami sauce with mushrooms. The crab dumplings were topped with caviar and stuffed with real crabmeat. We also got the shrimp pad Thai and side of brussel sprouts.

Came for a birthday and was not impressed.Theres a $25 valet fee and few other options for parking. If you do park valet expect to wait up to 20 minutes for your vehicle.I asked for a drink recommendation and was given one that I had tried and didnt like and the server gave no other recommendations. I didnt order a drink and drank water because the interaction completely turned me off.The food was well presented but the flavor left a lot to be desired. Everything was fine but for the price I expected much more. This restaurant is absolutely way overrated and under performed in service standards. Abysmal reservation waiting times, had to wait 2+ hours to get seated even though I had a reservation for 8:45. Once, we all got seated it took 30+ minutes for a server to come over and greet us and offer drinks or water. After that, they rushed us into ordering, then didn’t come back for another hour, at this point it was already midnight before we got to get our food. When the food finally came, the steak was under cooked and the mongolian beef was not mongolian beef - it was absolutely disgusting, everyone at the table thought so, same with the lobster roll which they refused to remove from the tab despite it being disgusting and making people at the table sick. Water was never being refilled without having to call over a waiter and wait 15+ minutes for them to refill it (something they should be coming around and refilling and checking automatically). Once addressed to the manager working, they couldn’t have cared less and just gave excuses. $350 later a horrific experience was made and will be one we all certainly can’t forget. Would not recommend this place to any high clientele - they will scam you. Never have experienced this kind of service with any other fine dining destination.

I brought my niece to Tao for her birthday and it started while from the atmosphere. But starting going down hill from there. We had a 5:30pm reservation at it took us 30mins to be seated.Then it took a long time to get a drink once seated. After getting my mothers drink wrong 2times she just switched to a basic rum and coke. The food was ok but somethings came out cold. But the worse part of the experience came when we spent $500 on our meal and we left or leftovers. We hadnt even made it 5mins away before we call to say we were turning around and picking them up. They had already discharded our food. So we asked if we could get one item comped as just good customer service and the the manager Alex got really rude and dismissive. I have now canceled my reservation of 25 for next month for my birthday and my other friends having corporate events for their holidays parties as well. There are to may amazing restaurants in LA to patronage ones with horrible customer service. Go there at your own risk. Dont say you havent been warned.

Tao is an exclusive restaursnt that requires reservations in advance. We had a party of 10 and we made reservations for 7pm a few days before. We arrived at 6:45pm, as a complete party, and it still took about 40 minutes to get sat.The food was amazing. The Pad Thai was delicious. The drinks were slow to get to us, but the bartenders were busy, so no big deal. The food also took a while to get to us, but I can understand the delay. The service kind of ruined my entire night lol. The food was great, the atmosphere was amazing, and the very nice young man who refilled our waters and joked with us was very very kind. But our server I think his name was Corey or at least that’s what it says on the receipt, was visibly upset by the (albeit) small tip my sister initially left him. She was treating us and the food and drinks were fairly expensive so she gave him what she had in cash. He made a scene in the middle of the restaurant. Visibly angry & loudly speaking to coworkers and near by tables about how little we left him. After asking my sister how much she left, I felt bad so I called him over and asked him to charge the gratuity to my card. That didn’t seem to calm him down at all and even while giving me my card back he was still visibly annoyed and short with us. I understand it’s a very nice restaurant and the wait staff is accustomed to a certain tip (as he pointed out), but my sister initially gave him what she had and I don’t feel she or anyone deserves to be embarrassed so publicly for that. He served other tables tonight I’m sure they tipped him well, so I don’t feel the dramatics were necessary. Our bill was paid, and while we did appreciated his help throughout our night - I don’t feel our night deserved to be ruined because he felt entitled to extra.

The ambiance at Tao is one that has to be experienced. Through the guarded, thank you, doors the receptionist makes sure that you have a reservation or are placed on hte waiting list. The waiting area is vast with plenty of places to wait as well as a bar. Cocktails can be purchased while waiting for the time of your reservation. I recommend the Cucumber Sparkler, the gin hits you nicely. :-) After all our party arrived we were seated and our server materialized.Our server Mike was gracious enough to explain the food preparation process since we did explain members of the group having either a peanut allegy and a shellfish allegy. The 8 Greens Fried Rice was decided on and it did not fail to impress and be as savory as described by Mike. The Beef and Brocolli was cooked to order, medium well, with Onion rings. The brocolli were perfectly cooked and the presentation outstanding. Throughout the evening Mike kept making sure our needs were met with a smile. The manager Saundrina made it a point to stop by our table to make sure all was well. Brian made sure that he kept removing any plate that was finished and again with an amazing smile. The dessert was scrumptious and was a gift to all at the table. The donut was my fave as were the fortunes, adult themed and fabulous, in the cookie.Certainly a location that will be visited again and shared with all that want an amzing experience of culinary delights and an atmosphere of bliss.

Went to Tao for a great Xmas dinner and we sat in a private alcove way up above the crowd. This place is huge and It got busier as the night progressed and by 9:30pm was packed.We had a set menu and I really loved the Chilean sea bass skewers and the triangle dumplings were good too. But the dessert samplers were a show stopper and awesomely delicious. My favorite was all of them and they even had rambutan fruit.Service was quite good, professional but not too warm.Decor is fantastic with huge religious statues and lots of wood and red accents. First time at TAO LA. Went here on a Thursday night at around 0630pm we were seated right away and the place was not that full. Its easy to make a reservation on Open table or Yelp. They have a dress code but I saw some people wearing casual clothes and sneakers. Parking is easy around the area and they also have valet parking.Ambiance and decor were all beautiful. Food was good. Satay Chilean Sea Bass had very good flavor and very tender. The Tuna Poke was also good with the guacamole. I have been to Tao in las Vegas so I wanted to see if Hollywood gave me the same experience. I will say the atmosphere is amazing. The music is loud enough for you to enjoy it but quiet enough for you to have a conversation across the table with your friends and not have to yell. The service was sketchy at times which is why I only gave the restaurant 4 stars. The food was amazing. I had the fried snapper which is more like snapper nuggets tucked inside the body of the fish (the presentation is amazing). I also had the lobster fried rice which was really good and had enough lobster for me not to complain. The Brussels were disappointing. I expected crispy (even asked them to make them crispier) and they were still pretty soggy and hard to chew.The drinks were really good. Although I spent $24 for the Paloma, it was very tasty.I would recommend you at least try this place out. Make a reservation because every table was full and you shouldnt be disappointed.

A really unique experience in LA. Asian style restaurant in the heart of Hollywood. The parking is not a problem. You most make a reservation in advance! It’s just an amazing place, the entire Asian style vibe is cool. The place is only open for dinner. The food is not too expensive...if you don’t take too many appetizers or cocktails. The place has cool old statues and symbols, a couple of fountains and a lot of sitting booths. The dishes are pretty big and filling and very tasty. There is a big variety of dishes and all kinds of protein. We went as a party of 7 people; it took us about 20 minutes to get a table (we had a reservation). We got one of the round tables in the back, a very secluded and quiet area. The waiter was nice and talkative, explained to us the specials and the menu. He even got us some tasters of house cocktails. The wait for the food was not long. From the time of the order it took the food about 15 minutes tops. Went to TAO on a Saturday night during a short trip to LA. Ive been to TAO in Las Vegas and its comparable. Im going to review TAO LA as its own entity though.The Space and Decor are great. There is a large Buddha at the front of the restaurant that has a projector lighting it up. They feature different outfits and projections throughout the night to add to the ambiance. The lanterns were pretty and tables were spaced far enough apart to feel intimate and yet not overly crowded. We had the Tuna Pringles, Sea Bass Skewers, lobster wonton and the Pork Bao Buns. All delicious. This was my favourite part. The mains were good - we had the chicken, steak, lobster fried rice, a fried fish and some vegetable. Its Pan Asian Fusion. As an Asian - this is more fusion than true Asian food. BUT it was good. Flavours were rich and went well together. The fried rice was a bit dry for my liking but still good. We had the giant fortune cookie for dessert. The presentation on this was fantastic. Dessert was not too sweet but good. Solid 4/5 on dessert.The Drinks: try the TAO-Tini and the Bubbles and Berries. Both delicious. Also tried the California Sunrise (a sweeter version of an old fashion). Overall drinks were strong but delicious. Extremely pleased with the staff both serving and kitchen staff ! Beautiful decor and a spacious layout ! I will revisit on a busy weekend to compare the service. I know it will be great

Great food. I ordered the angry dragon roll which is eel, the lobster fried rice which was on point, and a watermelon something drink(alcohol). It was all so delicious. Pricey so it makes it a one time thing for me.

Our daughters 40th birthday celebration was wonderful at Tao. From the front door to the host, servers, the food. And oh my goodness the ambiance is the best ever. Even the music was great, by the end of the evening our whole table of 10 were singing. Thanks Tao

The food was ok. It was presented nicely but the service was very very slow and it was not busy. Everything took so long. Im actually disappointed I was so annoyed. It took 30 mins to bring out my friends cake with candles, 25 mins for someone to come grab the cake to take it back in to cut a slice for everyone and 30 mins to bring the slices back out to us. I should have just spoke to the manager but I just wanted to leave. I had to get up and ask our waitress what was going on and if we can just have the check to leave. She just said sorry and took the $25 fee off for cutting the cake from our $800 tab. Terrible experience!
