Used to love this place but this week my son and I went. I got tacos and he got a burrito. They all had the skimpiest portions we’ve probably ever had with either dish anywhere. Folks I know the pandemic took a toll on everyone’s business but please consider better portions or just increase your prices. I’d pay but not for what I got the other day.

Hands down my favorite place to eat Mexican food at Davis. I love the food, environment and staff. Everything is reasonably priced. A big plus is their chips and salsa bar. They have very fast service even when there’s a lot of people. Just looking at the pictures makes my mouth water all over again. I love coming here 👍

Two chicken tacos, chips, and drink for $9. Place was busy, which is always a good sign when trying a spot to eat for the first time.Update: Actually, the chips are free. Its right there on the pick-up counter inside a silver container that looks like an oven.Flip open the door and use the thongs to grab the fresh chips to put in the cardboard tray or paper bag found beside the silver container.I had to ask someone beside me at the order pick up counter where they got their chips.He did mention that if the chips are not free, then its not a real Mexican restaurant.

I was pretty disappointed in the chicken soup . Although it looks delicious, the broth was water and not chicken broth. The smallest vegetable was quarter sized & without a flavorful broth the chicken followed closely behind. As expected it took a while to come out so I didn’t want to send it back in a lunch rush. Besides this, customer service was great, the place is very clean and has great music.

What is wrong with the cook? I ordered a simple chicken plate and hardly any chicken and almost no beans. Mainly rice and then they tried to cover it up with a ton of lettuce on top? Ridiculous. Also ordered a bean tostada and same. No beans and doused in lettuce and whole thing was a watery mess Shell was soggy and both plates were cold. Hugely disappointed. Plan on making more beans. It costs nothing!

Torta was super small for the price and was very mediocre. The super burrito was very similar I ordered black beans you could tell they were definitely canned and burrito was pretty flavorless also. This is very sad because it used too be a great restaurant.

Great super burrito but there was so little Guacamole I wasnt sure if there was any at all! I would say about 95% of my burrito had no indication of guacamole at all! A bit disappointing but still tasty.

Best Mexican restaurant in town. Delicious, bright and fresh tasting entrees. The open salsa bar is addictive. Sevice is friendly and fast even at peak hours with line out the door most days. Go off peak hours and enjoy a most satisfying meal.

Edited:After going to Taqueria on numerous occasions, I had a very bad experience with the guy who works there. He tried to blame me for ordering the wrong food and the whole time, I was made to feel ashamed at the counter on why I was complaining about getting the wrong food. Even the way he served the replacement was like a slap in the face. Never going there again!---------Really good food and service. It’s run by a family so you better expect some good taste.

I started coming here back in 2011 when I was a student at UCD. They made the best chimichanga Id ever tasted. Since graduating, Id moved to IL and could not find an equivalent chimi. After IL, I moved to CT, and ran into the same issue. Seven years later, my boyfriend and I finally found ourselves in Davis again, and just had to go to Guadalajara for a chimichanga. Usually when youve been reminiscing about a restaurant, you build up the expectation and imagine the food better than it really was. However, we were far from disappointed this visit. The food was stellar- just like we remembered it- and the staff was absolutely wonderful and made us feel like valued guests. The gentleman who took our order- who I recognize from 9 years ago- was so sweet and jolly. When we ordered our food, he asked if that was it (we had only ordered one entree), and we let him know we were going to split the chimichanga (we can never finish a whole one alone- theyre pretty big!). Instead of pushing us to order more food, he asked if wed like our chimichanga cut for us, since we were sharing it. When we received the chimi, it was served on separate plates, and each half had its own dollop of guacamole and sour cream. No other restaurant has ever gone above and beyond like this for us! Even the wait staff was polite and very, very kind. Mind you, I am the kind of individual who is ALWAYS disappointed by my restaurant experiences, so me saying these people are incredible means a lot. Also, the restaurant hasnt changed at all in 9 years, aside from some tiny price changes, and they still serve unlimited fresh chips, fresh salsa and other toppings, and they do not charge extra for horchata nor any of their other home-brewed Hispanic drinks (theyre the same price as a regular soda). Did I mention you get unlimited refills? Needless to say, if youre craving Mexican food, Guadalajara is the place to go.

Pros:-Amazing customer service; friendly and courteous employees. The young lady who took my order was so nice!-One of the best super burritos I have ever eaten. I got a super burrito with carne asada and refried beans. I have searched throughout all of Davis for the best burrito, and this is it.-Their red sauce? Perfect. Their tomatillo sauce? Perfect. Their pico de Gallo? Perfect.-Their chips are fantastic and complimentary.Cons:-None. I cant praise this restaurant highly enough. This is the to go place for some super good burritos! The first time I’ve visited this place, we ordered two to-go burrito and took them to lake Berryessa. It was super tasty and good. When it’s midterms/finals week, this is our to go place for something quick and filling. Every time I’ve been to Lake Berryessa, it’s tradition now to take burritos with us! 😹 I would recommend this place to anyone who love burritos :)

I went to the one next to Laundry Lounge. Good prices. Dont pre tip. Tostada was obviously made first and sat on cold wet lettuce rice and beans until the rest of my food was made. If you love masa, get the tamale. Everything tasted the same. 2 stars is being kind. No eating utensils or napkins with large to go order.

Ive been in this and the other locations owned by the family and have had a mixture of varied experiences. Its been hit or miss to say the least. The food has been good to fine to meh, but the customer service has been lukewarm to cold, to tolerant, to bemused, and to low key hostile. One of two best Mexican restaurants in Davis. Considering they are owned by the same family that understands how to maintain quality standards with fresh ingredients you can taste in their food. They are accommodating when it comes to food allergies and custom orders. Their salsas are delicious and one of the spiciest that I can find in town. Highly recommend for getting your taco fix here.

I’m a brand new completely loyal fan of this place. The line had been too long in the past so I avoided going there for a long time. Today I left the nail salon and went to Dickeys to order my usual pulled pork salad and was told they don’t sell that because it’s a new restaurant now. Major bummer..... Love this place for affordable Mexican food! Its a traditional Mexican restaurant that serves solid food for a good price! They have a nice variety of salsas and free self serve home made tortilla chips weather your eating in or taking out! The restaurant caters much more towards the take out crowd, but you can eat there if you want (although it can get a bit warm in there during the summertime, so be aware). My girlfriend is Mexican and an excellent cook.....so we never really go out to eat Mexican food, but if we do we usually eat here.

Holy moly, this place is good. On Friday, I got pastor nachos. They were so good I got them again on Saturday. I made it 72 hours, until today, and I had to get pastor nachos again.The refried beans are delicious. Everything Ive had here has been great. The best Mexican pace in Davis for many of us, and you can tell by the frequent line spilling out of the door. Carnitas are my favorite, either in tacos or burritos, but the fish, chorizo and other options are quite nice too. There is only inside sitting and I would not say I go there for the atmosphere but still a frequent stop for me because the food is so good. You can save lots of time by ordering on the phone ahead of time and the prices are very affordable.

Seriously the best Mexican restaurant in town. The food actually has flavor and the salsa is absolutely amazing. Most Mexican restaurants I have been to are hit or miss. Thankfully, this place does not carry that trend. The line can be long at times, but they work very fast and the line gets trimmed rapidly. They also offer an endless amount of tortilla chips (within reason of course) that taste very good. There is an element of grease to the food that really enhances the flavor but be warned, this food has a high amount of calories. I have had the carne asada super burrito, chimichanga, and torta yellow. I would recommend getting these because they are all amazing!

I love the ambience here. I could honestly say that its the most Mexican place that I have been to here in Davis. I wish I could say the same for the food however. The tacos are fantastic but everything else lacks a certain authentic taste. What can I say about Guads that hasnt already been said? Its the best place in Davis to get your burrito or taco fix, the folks that work there are quick to turn around orders and the salsas are to die for.The Al Pastor super burrito is the unappreciated rock star of the menu and their pico de gallo and chips go together like peanut butter and chocolate. Also the horchata is great and saves the day if youve overdone the spicy salsa.

One of the few spots in Davis that seems to deserve the high rating that it has. Authentic Tapatio food, and a very tasty breakfast menu. The owner is nice, the coffee tastes like cinnamon and makes me very nostalgic for Mexico. I’ve got really nothing critical to say about this place. Vegetarians and non-pork eaters beware that the huevos rancheros has meat in it by default; the omelet makes a great alternative.

Best authentic mexican food Ive had in a while! Super burrito is delicious with crunchy green bell peppers sprinkled throughout. Mild red salsa is Outstanding and has my favorite charred pepper flavor. They have my favorite dish (which I discovered while living in Guadalajara Mexico): chilaquiles! The red sauce was not over-spicy like it often is at other places, if they even have the dish. The red sauce was thick and flavorful, almost like an enchilada sauce but with more chile flavor. Horchata is a little too sweet but had the fine ground rice particles in it that taste so good. Chips that come with everything are a welcome surprise. I was excited to try this place. It had 4 stars and was cheap. I ordered enchiladas with rice and beans. Turns out an enchilada is a quesadilla with tomatoe sauce on it. My boyfriends chili relleno had what tasted like tomatoe soup on it. The pico de Gallo was yummy. The rice tasted like how I make it at home. Oh and to end the evening my horchata had little white pebbles in the bottom and that was my final sip. So disappointed.

I got the super burrito with adobada (marinated beef) with their horchata and chips with sauces. The meat definitely tasted off to me. It had an oil like substance all around the meat and tasted a bit fishy. The horchata was not authentic as it was made with very little to no cinnamon. After letting the drink rest there was no specks visible at all. It was also made using condensed milk which was very strong in the drink. It wasnt a bad drink but it definitely was not horchata. Their sauces were very very watered down. We had the tomatillo sauce, avocado sauce and the spicy sauce. They were all very runny from adding too much water. The avocado sauce had a neon green look to it instead of a green/slightly brown look and was extremely runny. The place was clean and folks seemed nice.

Just tried Taqueria Guadalajara this evening. Good food, great selection, reasonable prices, although my daughter couldnt figure out why they charge extra for weird meats like Cabeza, Lengua, and Tripas. Its a place where taco Tuesday is every day of the week since theyre only $1.59 and offer several different types of meat.My favorites include the pastor, the pollo, and the carne asada.
