Tarpys Roadhouse in Monterey

Lovely place, food just ok. Service was just ok too. Served as ordered but lacking in flavor. I had spicy tuna tacos that were far from spicy and I wasnt expecting a fried shell.

Beautiful atmosphere, delicious food and great service! The Bruschetta was delicious, the Braised short ribs were so good! Hubby had the Ribeye steak and it was really good as well. The creme brule was good and the white chocolate bread pudding was amazing! The mocha latte was delicious and hubby had an espresso, he said it was good. There was a couple that sang and played music, like a soft jazzy/bluesy type of music and that just topped off our great experience! We will be back again! Highly recommend!! Also dog friendly.

Perfect place for brunch with friends! Reasonably priced for that type of vibe. We paid $330 with tip for 6. We had mimosas (two champagne bottles), two appetizers and all had a meal. LOVED the bruschetta here. Throughly enjoyed my chicken sandwich which was perfectly paired with sweet potato fries. They had live music which was a plus!

Absolutely exquisite!! The ultimate in food preparation and presentation. The service is the best! The dining experience is out of this world!! The ambiance is unforgettable!! The live entertainment (Andrea Carter of Andreas Fault Duo was World class!! I highly recommend this fine dining establishment!! Everything here is perfect, and I mean PERFECT!!!

This is a beautiful restaurant. We were in Monterey for a dinner meeting, and the staff was very accommodating when there were more people than had been expected. The food was delicious! I had the salmon and it melted in my mouth. We were well taken care of. When we are back in the area, we will be sure to visit here again.

The best dish I had was the Spanish octopus; it had a soft texture, and the sauce that accompanied it was delicious. The main dish I had was a chili crusted chicken, which had scalloped potatoes. The sauce had more of a BBQ-esque flavor, and the chicken was a tad bit overcooked.

The second time Ive been here I recommend the Ribeye but I ordered the Braised Short Rib this time. Not a large portion but very good.Sat outside with a cool Summer day and had a great server.Update: went to Tarpys and had the NY steak, it came with roasted potatoes, brocollini and Truffle butter. Ate Every Bite.Highly recommend this dish. Also had the Lemon cheesecake but no photo.

Let me start by saying that I have been a fan of Tarpys for a long time (Ive eaten here numerous times over the past 20+years). Its a lovely space, delivers great service, and has an illustrious history. However, Im not a huge fan of their current menu. On my last visit I tried their wings (too sweet) and Wagyu Burger (which is served with Brie and Lobster which made no sense at all other than if they were just looking for something to inflate the price). You might ask then why did I order it (good question...lol). I guess I thought Id give it a try in case I was missing something. Anyhow, Ill be back to try some of the other items on the menu.

Made reservations for 5 on a Saturday and was seated right away. Lots of outdoor and indoor seating. They were very patient with my daughter who is very picky. They accommodated everything she asked for. Husband said he would get the octopus everytime- smokey flavor. Large plates have very generous portions. Will bring out of town guests here.

We made a reservation, but there were several times available. Although they seemed full they made sure we got our table. The food and the drinks were delicious and the atmosphere was very nice. It was a cozy place, only a little drafty or cold. The staff were all very friendly, mature, and kind.
